AC '11 at a close
Posted 14 years agoWell my furry friends, I write this as I am ready to pack up from yet another wonderful anthrocon; where it was great to see my old friends and talk to new ones!
There is nothing quiet like staying up until 4am and getting up at 10am to leave; then driving 7 hours... (adds that to the dumbass list of stuff I've done for the weekend)
However, meeting and knowing you all just makes me appreciate every single one of you.
Being around the community has refreshed my memory of the craziness, the comradeship, the family feeling, and just how close knit we all are towards each other, I have met so many new furries this con, and AC being their first; and having talked to them some time into the con; just to see their energy in their eyes just makes it just that much more worth it.
Thank you all!
I know my journals are few and far between, and my uploads are about the same, but I have several pictures yet to share, and will do so when I'm not packing up in the hotel, and am in a bit of a rush.

Well there is the horsie hug; but that is comparing apples to vodka.

MFF 2010 - The aftermath
Posted 15 years agoWhat a time!!!
I know, I know... updating my journal twice in the same quarter (year)... it's unbelievable! Yeah yeah yeah...
Well MFF has come and gone; but what a time! The new hotel was very nice. I was impressed to say the least. Very clean, and just had a very nice appeal to it. You know, come to think of it, I cannot recall an elevator line. A furry first quite possibly?
Lord knows I needed the break from my everyday routine. I have been working lots of hours, and just about running myself ragged; but fear not my furry friends, I didn't stop at the con It wasn't until last night that I felt like I almost got a good nights sleep. We'll see though. Hopefully it won't be cold rain again, and my dog won't get into another dog fight and try to decorate his other ear with war scars. (Much thanks to Skyfox for tending to him because I was running on four hours of sleep at that point, and had been up for 20 hours)
It was just awesome to see all my friends again! Gawd I've missed shooting the 'bovine fecal matter' with you all. I would start naming names but you all know who you are. I just wished we all had just a bit more time to hang out. It always seemed everyone, myself included, was just up and running. Always something going on, things to see, furries to do. Wait, is that right?
But alas it has come and past. With mere new memories, and new friendships acquired, is all that remains of this con. But the effects, and the friendships will last for much longer than a weekend.
But until next con, when we can meet again;
thank you everyone, for yet an unforgettable weekend!!!

Yet again....
Posted 15 years agoSo here I am neglecting my FA account. Work and life as usual have kept me from spending time online. Well okay, not having a computer also helps as well.
Well my pathetic excuse for not being here is out of the way; here I am in Chicago at MFF 2010. Yee HAW!! If you're here, I look forward to seeing you all! If you aren't, well, you're missing a fun time; a nice place, (it's fancy), and lots of liqueur.
(What con doesn't have it???)
Hope to see yah!!

OMG Two Months!
Posted 15 years agoWell that's what FA is telling me it has been since I've last changed my journal. I must be slacking; again.
I have had the joy of making the grand journey with the rest of the furries to Anthrocon. Me and the 4238 this year! WOW! That is a lot of fur! lol
But seeing as I'm supposed to be packing my bags and loading them onto the pack wagon to make the voyage away from mecca, to reality, I shall stop writing now and post again.
Until next time;

AC ... the arrival
Posted 16 years ago Well I've made it. I'm sitting here on my overly expensive internet access, and wonder what tomorrow is going to bring forth.
So far the camera hasn't been out too much, just been wandering the lobby and such. So far I have run into a few friends and have seen several familiar faces. Ahh, the mecca of bliss.
I had a wonderful dinner, and well what can I say, Swordfish and a nice ice cold beer really hit the spot.
For those wondering, no I don't twitter, and no I am not going to turn my FA journal into a twitter page. I just felt like sharing my experiences.
Until tomorrow, **nuzzles**
(I'll have some pictures posted as well too)

Preparatiion for AC
Posted 16 years ago Well it is now less than 24 hours until I embark on my excursion to Anthrocon. Sadly my vow from last year to return with a fursuit has not been fulfilled; but alas I am still going.
After running over my list of crap to bring, netbook, laptop, wireless router (Yes if you are by my room you'll have free internet ), plush, clothes, toiletries, beverages, camera, cooler, snacks, money... what else do I need?!?
It's so close yet it seems so far away yet. I have 'short-timers' like a son of a gun.
The car is nearly packed, so with knocking on my wooden desktop, everything will go without a hitch.
I know one thing however, I am going to miss my horses something fierce. Granted I am not adversed to leaving home, it's just I haven't been gone for 6 days in many years; so even though I am excited to leave, I am also already looking forward to my return home - Made it harder to leave when I got home from work today watching them trot next to my truck up the driveway to welcome me and to say 'Hi'.
I wonder if the board of AnthroCon would consider moving AC to a 2,700 acre ranch so I can bring my horses... then I'd truly never want to leave.

Reflections of FCN
Posted 16 years ago Where oh where to start...
Friday was an early one as Skyfox and I loaded up the truck, and prepared our journey to Novi, MI. at 5am. After about 2.5 hours on the road, we finally arrived it the Sheraton hotel. Not to our surprise there were the typical furs standing by the front doors smoking, but as we soon piled out of the front seats after parking, found ourselves amused with the fact there were two other meetings going on at the same time.
For example, there was a business meeting luncheon going on in the main lobby area; which I have to chuckle at the sight it must have been to see all these men and women, eating their lunches, and seeing a bunch of fur suiters walking all over the place.
Then not to mention, on the second floor, next to the gaming area, and the sponsors lounge, there was a jewlery show talking place as well. There was some nice stuff too, but these people had some money in there.. and yet again, the best analogy to come up with is like driving a rust bucket car and asking valet to park it. With the con running full swing, that jewlery show was so FAR out of place.
After checking into our room, I began my tour of the place, and learned the layout of the place. It sure wasn't a David L. Lawrence center like where AnthroCon (64 days away now), having to take a segway down the hallway to make it to the elevators by dusk. But a sizable place indeed.
I found the artists alley quite quickly and chatted myself up with a few artists, and wandered onward.
It was about then I was suddenly pounced by a good friend of mine Deoge. It sure was good to seem him again, since we met at MFF last year. Not to mention Howiepup, and another good friend of mine 'Pony'.
I suppose I don't need to do a play by play of my entire weekend, but it was good to put everyday life on hold for 72 hours.
I will say, I saw and chatted with rabbi_tom for a bit, and bought a simple con badge from him (prior paid for ;)) and in which reminds me I need to contact him about a full page commission.
From my take of the con in it's second year, it shows promise, in fact for it's second year the attendance was 730-ish attendees. That's pretty good from about 375the prior year. It, being new still had some gaps in the schedule of events, and there wasn't a huge huge lists to choose from; but this is why I wanted to go, after having been to AC and MFF, I wanted to experience a smaller con.
Which brings me to another point, being a smaller con, you'd think they wouldn't be so stringent with the rules, yet ask any artist there, they were like Nazi's with how they were treated and the alley run. Two 15 minute breaks, scheduled bathroom breaks, required to check in and check out... I sincerely hope they amend this for next year.
All in all, for the most part, I had a positive experience, and hope to attend next year. It was fun, and well worth the money. Oh, and just in case anyone wonders, I "Voted for Violet".
Well I think that's all I'm going to say for now, I'm still rummaging through my several hundred to a thousand photo's so the cream of the crop picks will be up shortly.
Until next time...

FCN 12 hours to go!
Posted 16 years ago Well the time has come to post my quarterly journal entry; well not so much intended to be quarterly, but that's how it so far has worked out.
It has just seemed like the year has flown by so far, having been busy with work, and life that holy manure batman, FCN is just a day away! I cannot wait; yet damn it, I don't have enough time to get ready! Yet one may wonder WTF I'm doing posting to my journal... and as I stop fur just a moment, I am asking myself the same damn question!
However, ready or not, I'm so going to be there. This'll be my third con, and the last two have been lots of fun, and cannot wait. Only having a two hour driv, it's not much closer than MFF, and a heck of a lot closer than Anthrocon.
At this point, not only have I worked myself up for going, I am ready for a vacation away from life. As of late, I have been running around non-stop, working many late hours at work, dealing with project, and unplanned tasks (such as yesterday, Paris became an escapee, and I spent the better part of two hours removing burdock from her mane and tail)... it just never ends...
So in short, I feel this will be a good relaxing, et adventurous weekend..which is duly needed.
So for anyone who even cares to read my journal, and you're going, hope to see yah there!

P.S. Watch for photo's too

Here's to 2009
Posted 17 years ago Well we all have celebrated the new year in our own ways, some in the bar drinking, others out on the streets, some outside with their animals, and others at home, watching the television closely.
I on the other hand did none of those things. As sad as it is true, I ventured 6 hours from home to visit family on the eve of the new year, and as the hours grew later, and the drinks came and came from rounds being bought by everyone celebrating, all I could think about was being at home. Where the wind can be the loudest part of the night's air, with no frogs, or insects creating a chorus of chirping; just to have the five minutes of quiet just before the turn of midnight, to be with the horses, and nothing else... to me, would have been perfect.
But I'm not there, was far from it, and so at about 10:30pm CST, I left the bar, and drove 'home' and climbed into bed at about 11. Right as I was dozing off my phone rang, and a friend of mine calling from my home state was wishing me a happy new year.
The next morning, as I lay in bed, not wishing to get up yet, I lay there in thought. Everyone has a new years resolution, but isn't January 1st typically nothing more than just another day or is it truly a way to turn a new leaf? If it's so damn special, then why is it, that a lot of people start diets, quite smoking, go do this, or stop doing that on that particular day, just to give it up in a month or so? How many of us have noticed that, those diets never last much longer than a month.
I know, I used to work for Wendy's years ago, and we rose our salad priced for the month of Jan. because of new years. Salad sales spiked and by the end of Feb., well, the rest is history.
I then began reflecting on how the 'landmark' 2008 went. I came and I became one year older, and some months later, I made it to my first furcon, then my second, and the next thing I know, the year is over. Where the fuck did it go??? There seemed to be things I never seemed to accomplish. No it wasn't due to a resolution, but just goals and tasks I said I would get to and some how never did.
I then realized that it's hard not to get sucked into the whole new year thing because most of the rest of society focuses on it. The colder winter months also add to it. (Kinda hard to do outdoor work in three feet of snow) Since there is some minor down time due to the winter months, I decided that if one wishes to call this a new years resolution on my behalf, or just one becoming more determined, well, that's for you to decide.
However, I have decided that several things will be set as goals to be done this year. I first off need to say, I say this year because I don't want to do all this stuff in 20 degree weather, or well as often.
1st - One thing I never did this last year is I never spent enough time with the horses. They live in my backyard, and somehow, some days, saying good morning, or goodnight escaped me. They're one thing I live for, yet, I feel I've disregarded them as a chore, not a loved one.
2nd - It has been a tentative thing for some time, but right now, I am putting my hoof down and saying that I will be going to at least three furry con this year. So far I am going to FCN. I will be going to Anthrocon, and I will be going back to MFF.
3rd - I also have been planning for years now to go and visit a very close friend of mine, well it will happen this year, and soon damn it!
4th - I will get my favorite truck running again. **grumbles "damn transmission"**
5th - I will do everything in my power to go on the week long 100 mile trail ride in Ill.
6th - I will work harder at trying to make my business more successful.
7th - I look forward to having several commissions done. They will be done, no if's and's or but's.
8th - I can see a Banks Sidewinder in my near future for my pulling truck (God knows I need one)
9th - ...to strive to always be the friend I would want to have.
10th - ...and no matter what happens in the new year, I will ALWAYS keep my chin up, ears perked, and my herd first.
So with that said...here's to the next 365.25 days.
Cheers,
-CdH~

MFF Pictures
Posted 17 years agoHey all,
I'll be an honest hoss, I'm lazy, and strapped for time, thus I don't have until the next decade to post all 838 pictures of MFF '08 on FA, so I created my own gallery (well, a KDE script actually) and did a batch uplaod to my fileserver.
The link is http://zetaweb.org/mff08/images.html
Any pictures anyone wants on here, let me know and I'll submit them, but as a bulk of the general, I'll leave them there. Mind you however, a sizable portion is from the fursuit parade, bur they are a photos nonetheless.
Also keep an eye on the page, it will change as I finish sorting the several thousand more I have from other sources.
