I just stood there and watched him die.
General | Posted 11 years agoI know I've been the worst person for activity lately. Yesterday I finally busted out my tablet after a very long hiatus from the internet in general and I was planning on getting a lot of work done when my mom texted me that they were getting their puppy put down. I dropped everything and rushed over to their place but it turns out he had a very nasty liver condition and the surgery was extremely expensive and risky. He seemed so fine last weekend when I visited them, but he took a very bad turn for the worst. They decided that letting him die on a table in front of us was kinder than letting him die on a table during surgery. I went along with them to the vet. It was the first time I've ever seen an animal die, let a lone one so young and so innocent. He was a fantastic dog and I cried all day and I still feel like crying. I wish I stopped them, I wish I could have paid for his surgery. The vet was so stone faced, like she killed dozens of puppies a day. I'm just so shaken and upset. I feel like I should be angry but there's no one to be angry at, there's no way to avenge him because it was me who let it happen. I've never seen my dad cry before. It was a year ago yesterday that we had to put my family dog down, it was just too soon to have to let this puppy go. His eyes were so empty as his heart stopped beating. I'll never forgive myself for letting it happen. I wish I yelled stop. I don't know how to cope.
My life lately
General | Posted 11 years agoHas been very busy! A short update for my wonderful watchers and incredible commissioners:
My dog is better, we think it was just the flu because he is absolutely fine now! My computer is better too!
My work told me I'd be getting 13 hours a week a few weeks ago and I though "great! Now I can finally open commissions because I'll actually have time for them!" But since then they have called me in or rescheduled me every single day I have off exept one or two a week. I spend those days getting my life back in order because between my boyfriend and I we make a lot of dirty laundry and dishes and neither one of us likes to clean on work days. I'm working somewhere around 30-40 hours a week still. I plan on talking to my manager about getting 20 hours max but its busy and we are under staffed. Not to mention the insane amount of people getting sick and me being the only person who can cover them. I'm in a management position so if someone has to open or close the store I'm the go too. I'm still picking away at my online school as well because I really can't let that slide so my evenings have been pretty tied up. And I got a part time thing on days I work short shifts or days I have off assisting a dog groomer so that has been a blast but leaves little time for myself. Anyway that's my life latey. Busy busy busy.
I have found a bit of time to pick away at my irl paintings that I owe family so thats good ;;

General | Posted 11 years agoMy laptop keeps shutting off at random and it won't read the drivers for my tablet so I've been uploading all of my files into drop box when I can and now I'm saving for a new computer or at least repairs. I don't know the first thing about computers so I wouldnt know where to start to find the problem. I'm on my phone right now just in case. It's been going on for about a week and a half now but I didn't want to say anything in case I figured it out but it's looking pretty bad at this point. I plan to keep you updated so that no one is kept in the dark ;-;
And to make things worse my dog is sick too. He can't keep any food down right now. He threw up his supper last night and I thought it might have been because he ate too fast like my family's dog would do from time to time. It was really sad because he looked so ashamed and walked away from it with his tail between his legs. He's a rescue so I can only imagine his last owners would scold or punish him for it! We made sure not to praise him but we certainly didn't yell or get mad. If you have to throw up then throw up. Anyway I gave him a small bit of food a few hours later to give his tummy time to settle and he seemed fine for the rest of the night. This morning however there were three more piles of vomit around his kennel and bed and he was curled up in a tiny ball at the back of his kennel. When I called him he carefully and gingerly stepped around it all looking really ashamed with his head, ears and tail down. We taught him not to eat food off the floor unless we say it's okay but he was definitely not asking or looking even slightly tempted by it. I'm going to wait a bit and give him a very small handful of food and if he can't keep that down. I think I'll have to take him to the vet to see if it's something stuck in his stomach or binding his intestines, like a toy or string. I'm so worried about him, I don't have the money for surgery for him. I'll keep you all updated on his well being too. Thank you for being patient with me ;-;

General | Posted 11 years agoJust performing one random act of kindness a day can make all the difference in your life. Seriously, the next time you go out try complimenting someone or holding a door or even offering to pay for someone else and you'll see what I mean. It makes you feel amazing.
Is it wrong to be proud of your work?

Ever since I started drawing I've always been insanely critical of my stuff. Too embarrassed to show anyone because I wasn't good enough. Recently though, like within the past year, I've actually started to like what I draw and how I draw. I still see the flaws and what I would do differently next time, and I can certainly look back on older pieces and see what I would change if I did it again, but for the most part my art makes me happy. Like, it might sound really coincided but, I'd watch me 0w0;
What do you think? Is it okay to be proud of your stuff or is it healthier for growth to be your worst critic?

Important notes:
~Any commissions requested to me by notes, e-mails or other means outside of my Commission Form will be ignored. (It helps me to have it all in one organized place, it's nothing personal)
~If you commission something I've clearly stated I'm not comfortable with, it will be ignored.
~Any questions should be sent to me by FA note please!
~I send my invoices through FA notes, so if you're not comfortable with that let me know and I'll e-mail you instead.
Terms of payment:
~I only accept USD
~Payment must always be made through Paypal, no exceptions!
~My prices are set and very reasonable! Anyone who tries to haggle with me will be dropped immediately! Sorry, but I'm not willing to argue about how much you think I'm worth.
~Payment is not to be sent until the sketch is approved by the commissioner and any parties involved unless it’s a YCH/pre-pose at which point payment is due before work will commence.
Terms of cancellations, refusals and refunds:
~I hold the right to refuse any commission I am not comfortable with at any time.
~If I refuse to draw a fetish for you don’t take it personally, I probably have no experience drawing it/no desire to draw it. There are plenty of amazing artists who draw fetish art, so you’ll find someone to draw your awesome idea.
~The commission can only be cancelled before payment is received, after payment is sent the commission cannot be cancelled.
~Refunds will not be issued unless I have to cancel the commission for any reason, or under very specific circumstances.
~If a refund is sent the art still belongs to me and the rights to it belong to me. (I'll never post unauthorized artwork of your characters.)
Terms of redraws and corrections:
~I will accept only one request to redraw the sketch, and do-overs after the first will be an extra $10 that must be paid up front.
~I will only accept 2 corrections on the base sketch, so please try to pick at every detail you want changed!
~Any details I missed by accident (such as colouration, markings or other important features) will be added in immediately free of charge!
Terms of usage:
~I will always ask permission to post the image in my gallery and you have full rights to the image and can do what you want with it upon completion.
~I can send a full rez file and the .PSD file upon request, please indicate what website works best for saving it (photbucket tiny pic... ect)
~If you would like the image watermarked for online usage let me know and I'll make it happen. Unwatermarked versions will always be sent upon completion of the image.

I have a minor concussion
General | Posted 12 years agoToday at work I had a mannequin fall on my head and was sent home early. Even typing this up is causing me discomfort. I still hope to have my commissions open by the end of this week. Please keep an eye out

Can I just say why I love the furry community?

I just finished reading an extremely long youtube argument that started with pigs being a filthy animal we shouldn't eat and a small health debate that quickly broke into an argument about how disgusting humans are, moved on to a religious debate that slammed more religions than I've ever seen in one argument, and then somehow made it's way into extremely racist territory based around race supremacy and religion! Of course the whole argument on the one side was held by one very VERY steadfast arguer with very biased opinions and the other side was supported by a butt ton of other people with very legitimate points and educated rebuttals. It eventually crumbled into a 'no f u ur dumb' style argument where it's obvious the person has lost but decided to keep fighting anyway, but all the while there were undertones of the original pig argument. Just wow! Why??
At least here for the most part arguments happen over art, which is understandable considering this is an art website and even then it's literally about the matter at hand and not (usually) a personal attack. Thank guys, for being the nicest community I've ever been a part of. Is it so hard for the rest of the internet/world to just accept and love one another despite differences?
I know there's a lot more to it than that but if we could at least think one positive thing once a day like:
-"Hey that person is spouting gospel about a religion I'm not part of... and that's alright because it must make them happy and I know I'm happy with my beliefs :)" or "Wow that person just tested my faith, so now I have a new point of view to think about. If in the end I believe something different than I've grown as a person and if I decide not to believe it I know that my faith is stronger than ever!"
-"I'm sure that bad driver ahead of me is just having a bad day, I'll hang back a few extra meters and just give them some space"
-"Wow that's a style of clothing I would never wear... It's so great that they don't dress like me so both of us can be proud of our individual identities" or "Huh, that's the same outfit as me! It's nice to see another person shares my exquisite tastes!"
-"It's a good thing that handsome man is making out with another handsome man instead of my girlfriend because, wow, I would not be able to compete with that"
You know, simple things that are nice and accepting. Then at least you know for sure you're not contributing to the intolerance problems of the world for at least one thought X3

48 hour work week, no day off and a nasty cold

On top of being dead tired I'm also feeling pretty emotionally exhausted and miserable. If I can make it through tomorrow I will be rewarded with 3 days off in a row but I'm so worried I won't be able to make it in tomorrow. I have a test by my district manager to do in order to earn my key to the store so I can open on Thursday but I'm so sick and miserable I don't know if I'll even be able to crawl out of bed. Luckily it's a test over the phone.
Oh in other news I just bought a car and I am very excited! Too bad I was too sick to drive it today ;0; *dies*

I hope your holidays went well and that the new year has gotten off to a great start for everyone!
Now to the matter at hand: My muse.
Throughout the holiday season my job was seriously understaffed and very busy. I worked long hard hours and put most of my energy into just making it through the day. By the time I made it home each night I was exhausted. I regret to inform you that in all this trouble over work I began to neglect my muse and it ran away. v-v
However, just a few days ago, I baited a few of my muse traps and set them all around. No luck yet, but-
Wait. I heard a trap close, just give me a second...
...
Okay yes! Great news! I caught it! What a glorious hunt it has been! My muse is a little beat up and rusty looking but I think with a little love and care it should be in tip top shape and ready to create with me again in no time! It wants to apologize to my commissioners and secret santa partners for the delay and promises it won't run off again. Good muse, atta boy.
I hope your holidays went well and that the new year has gotten off to a great start for everyone!

General | Posted 12 years agoWork has been stressful long hours, I get home at weird times so I barely get to see my bf or interact with my pets before I need to get to bed. The odd time when I do have spare time I have a really hard time focusing on my art. I have 3 different files open right now all in various stages of not done-ness and it's been that way for days.
What do you do to relax when you're stressed? Any tips that might help me?
I tried a hot shower and I have a cup of chamomile tea right now but it hasn't really made a difference ;w;-RANT- retail jobs
General | Posted 12 years agoOkay so I work at a purse kiosk. Right now the only other employee other than me is too 'sick' to work and can't work for the rest of the week. This means that I am working long shifts every single day this week and possibly next week to cover her shifts. (Did I mention she also got another job at a trendy clothes store last week?) I'll be working with my manager all day every single day. Luckily she has decided to hire two new people finally so my headache does have an end in sight. Possibly 2 - 3 weeks down the road but it'll come.
ANYWAY. Now the part that sparked rage in me today.
Today I greeted a customer, "Hey there, how are you? Is there anything I can help you with?" and she snapped back at me "I'm just looking!" then walked to her husband, only five feet away WELL WITHIN EAR SHOT and then said loudly "That bitch thought I was fucking trying to steal from them or something blah blah blah". UM OKAY?? First of all I work in RETAIL. My job is to GREET YOU and then ASSESS YOUR NEEDS. If you're stealing it's a bonus if I catch you, but my job is BORING AS FUCK so greeting customers is the only thing I really do all day. The only people who get pissed about someone talking to them in a store are people who don't intend on buying anything and people who want to steal. ANYWAY. Now the part that sparked rage in me today.
Today I greeted a customer, "Hey there, how are you? Is there anything I can help you with?" and she snapped back at me "I'm just looking!" then walked to her husband, only five feet away WELL WITHIN EAR SHOT and then said loudly "That bitch thought I was fucking trying to steal from them or something blah blah blah". UM OKAY?? First of all I work in RETAIL. My job is to GREET YOU and then ASSESS YOUR NEEDS. If you're stealing it's a bonus if I catch you, but my job is BORING AS FUCK so greeting customers is the only thing I really do all day. The only people who get pissed about someone talking to them in a store are people who don't intend on buying anything and people who want to steal.
