Thank you for the birthday wishes
Posted 16 years agoTo everyone who's left me a shout, a message, or even just had a look through, thank you. Haven't been able to reply to them for the most part as I had a 13% test this morning in Hematology, and have a 30% Biochemistry midterm tomorrow morning, so the birthday's been spent in the lab and in the books. Still, thank you all, and know it's appreciated even if I haven't been able to thank you personally.
Concerning the lack of progress on The Picture.
Posted 16 years agoCollege has been Kicking My Ass. Will work on it if I can get some time in the coming weeks, though that seems highly unlikely.
That is all.

Improbable Island
Posted 16 years agoA text-based RPG game I've been fiddling with in my spare time as of late. Find it rather funny and chuckle-worthy from time to time. Worth giving a shot if you like the grinding RPG kind of thing. Improbable Island
Ahem.

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.
<3
My new Macbook arrived today. :) Getting it set up.
Edit: Some vitals. It's a refurb, the only way I could afford a decent one, but considering it has the same warranty I'm not worried about it. 2.4ghz 13.3 MBP, 2gb ram, 250hdd. Got myself a DVI adapter as well so I can plug it into one of my bigger monitors when I want to do some artwork. :) Very happy.

Justin.tv going live
Posted 16 years agoGoing to do a stream of some colouring tonight for the next couple hours. For those who already have the passcode, drop by www.justin.tv/ciraeon and for those who don't, drop me a note, I'll check periodically.
Streaming just gone live
Posted 16 years agoJust started up the stream at www.justin.tv/ciraeon. As with yesterday, if you do not already have the passcode, which is different from the one I was using at Ustream, please send me a note.
Drawing stream migration - Updated
Posted 16 years agoOkay. Not going to let the hiccup stop me. Going to move things over to Justin.tv. The channel can be found at simply http://www.justin.tv/ciraeon . Things are going to be marginally more secure this time. It's mature flagged, and password protected to even get in, and you cannot participate in chat without being logged in. I also will not be posting up the passcode. Please toss me a note, and in most cases I will provide the code. Let see if I can get better than a week out of this place.
UPDATE - Stream's shut down for the night. Hopefully I'll have another one tomorrow night.

Was fun while it lasted.
Posted 16 years agoAfter a couple sessions with Ustream, I have now been IP banned for ToS violation. Wonderful considering I've seen other people drawing porn and whatnot on there, and operating for considerably longer than I've been, and I get cherrypicked for doing one larger than normal inking.
Whoever hit the "OMG my virgin eyes" button, I hope you're satisfied. To those who shared the sessions with me while they lasted, thanks for the fun times.
Now to find some other way to do this.

Ustream is back up
Posted 16 years agoJust put the session live, I'll be on and streaming for about an hour and a half to two hours. Stop by and say hello. :) Link and password are in the prior journal entry.
Digital Inking on Ustream
Posted 16 years agoCurrently have a Ustream session live, working on trying to digitally ink the reference. First try at it, so mostly playing with it tonight to get a feel for the program. Same as last time, http://www.ustream.tv/channel/cirae.....-s-drawing-pad password is biggrrl.
Ustream
Posted 16 years agoSince watching Fossil's art stream, I've decided to give my own a swing and try it out. Can't hurt.
The show can be found at http://www.ustream.tv/channel/cirae.....-s-drawing-pad
Password is biggrrl. I'll be streaming for perhaps the next hour or so, just to test out the new camera.
Update: Thanks to everyone who popped in, was great fun. I might have another session tonight, we'll see how it goes.

Stability results were low which suggests you are very worrying, insecure, emotional, and anxious.
Orderliness results were moderately low which suggests you are, at times, overly flexible, improvised, and fun seeking at the expense of reliability, work ethic, and long term accomplishment.
Extraversion results were low which suggests you are very reclusive, quiet, unassertive, and secretive.
trait snapshot:
introverted, irritable, feels invisible, observer, depressed, does not enjoy leadership, reveals little about self, dislikes large parties, feels undesirable, does not like to stand out, submissive, suspicious, emotionally sensitive, not a thrill seeker, solitude loving, likes silence, fragile, second guesses self, negative, unadventurous, fearful, weird, focuses on people's hidden motives, paranoid, phobic, dependent, cautious, avoidant, semi intellectual
Unexpected in some regards, though mostly... guess it's about right.

Windows and Me
Posted 16 years agoThe standard love hate relationship. I love to hate it. Even with a Phenom Quad Core, and 4gb of ram which Xp loves to think is smaller than it actually is, the bastard still runs slowly, takes forever to boot, and just does not want to work right.
The usual complaints from any Windows user.
So, i've had Ubuntu on my machine for a long while, as a "If it breaks, I can diagnose from it" kind of role. Well, it went looney yesterday. All four cores at 100%, at load. Joy of joys, not dealing with this. Closed the bugger down, booted to Ubuntu, and everything's working alright. This time I decided to stick around with it though, didn't want to bugger around with settings all night. It was quick, nice to look at, and pleasant to use. Nice change of pace. I'd had it around but never really 'sat' with it for any length of time.
So, I tossed on Gimp and Sane, managed a scan of the Reading Grrl progress that got tones the Canon utility didn't, and a still pleasant to use graphics editor.
I think I may not leave.
And for those having a nice fit of tl;dr: Me likes the Linux.

Going out of town
Posted 17 years agoHeading out of town with my family to visit my relatives for New Years. Should be back within a week or so, in time for registration at the college for term 2 on the 5th.
Happy Holidays
Posted 17 years agoTo those celebrating, Happy Holidays. To those not, hope you at least have a good week or two.
7 years of Art
Posted 17 years agoWas going through some boxes in my closet today, and came across the majority of my oldest art. I'd thought I'd lost most of this. A lot of good memories, a lot of "I drew this?".
So, over the next couple days, likely going to be scanning a few pieces for a trip down memory lane.

WROWNG!
Had to get that out my system.
Exams are over, marks are coming in. Got three back, math, chem, biology. 100 on the first two, 83 on the latter. Keeping my fingers crossed for the last two, physics and communications (business english)
That also means the commission bit's been closed. From the number ofp eople who had inquired previous to putting it up and the "I'll send an email" crowd, I was expecting more than 4 entries.
But, I've decided. I'm doing two. Astor and Iridium will be receiving work, which I'll be getting to work on this week. You can (hopefully) expect to see some outcome of those later on in the month.
And for now, BigOrange is off to learn some more, and work on this 'hypnotism' thing.

Commission?
Posted 17 years agoWell. I thought I'd get a little more interest than one person. That's it. Just one person. And not even with anything creative. For anyone that may have thought, "I don't have a chance," it's 50/50 at this point.
I'll keep the contest open for another week, pending interest. Should people not bother, I won't either and just call the thing off.

Commission
Posted 17 years agoThis is a little odd, but I'm going to do something that I only ever offered once before.
I'm going to take a commission.
Here's the deal. I'm going up one commission. Fixed price. $50.
I'm not auctioning it. I'm tired of watching the artists I'd love to commission only opening up their paid works to auction, then it goes to the people who have money to burn. It's their perogative to spend $300+ on work. But I'll never have that money to get art done for me. And I don't think art should go to the person with the deepest wallet.
What I'm doing, is that to my friends, send me an email at marks_nf[at]hotmail[dot]com with your concept. I would like to limit this to one character, limited background, heavily finished pencils. And I will do the idea that I like the best. That's right. I'm going to choose what I do.
My midterms will finish at the end of this month. I'll be taking ideas until then, and I will contact the winner in the first week of November to discuss the drawing.
So far as payment, I ask half before, half after. The winner will recieve digital copy only.
Oh, and ArtWhores? Don't bother with the emails. They'll be dismissed out of hand. Not interested. Not why I'm doing this.

Starting from scratch
Posted 17 years agoAfter a lot of thought, I've decided to dust off my pencils, and try to draw again. However, another part of why I stopped is that I have no ideas.
Here's where you people come in.
I'm going to start taking pose requests. I want to be very clear about this, I am -not- taking requests to draw other people's characters. I could barely draw Cira correctly, I'm not about to attempt to get back into this and fudge up someone's character, and screw what little confidence I'm hoping to build. So, if you have a particularly interesting pose you think I could try, let me know. References even would be great.
I just need some help giving my creativity a boost. Or, more correctly, to bring it back from the dead.
That is all.

Posted 18 years agoJust for anyone that's interested, Oct. 1st marks my 21st b-day. Time for cake!
I'm still alive.
Posted 18 years agoJust so that anyone who was wondering... I haven't kicked it. Yet. Just busy with school, work, and the odd bit of WoW.
...
Posted 19 years agoJust not drawing much anymore, sorry to say. Other things to do, and drawing isn't high up my list.
