What is Stygian Shade?
General | Posted a week agoSooooo, as you guys might have noticed, I've been doing a lot of non-ttrpg stuff lately! What's up with that? Well, in July earlier this year, I became friends with a cool artist, Picopepin, who introduced me to a really neat art rpg called Stygian Shade! Being new to the concept of arpgs, I had no idea what was in store for me, but I'm so glad I did cause it's super fun! Basically you create a character (in this case a closed species called a stygian), and then you play the game with it by doing the drawing/writing prompts given to you in-game through quests, dungeons, or other events in game. Doing this nets you rewards that allow you, ultimately, to upgrade/alter your characters' designs with different traits and alternate forms! As mentioned, you can write about your stygian instead of draw them, if that's more your speed, but in the case that you can't draw your own masterlist art (official image you need to play with your stygian) you can do a trade or commission someone else to do it for you. The Stygian Shade discord server is full of really friendly people that are more than willing to help out if you need certain things, too! It's completely free, but from time to time they do host sales/auctions for premade stygians for real money, and they do have a patreon that you can get perks from, but it's completely doable without spending any money at all. There's frequent free raffles to earn all kinds of prizes too!
Stygians themselves, at least the standard subspecies, is kind of a mix of a deer and dog. Everyone (typically) will start out with a standard stygian they can get for free with a quest. My figment is Marceau, and I love him to death! Through questing you can earn skill points (typically abbreviated as SP/SKP) for the stygian you featured in your piece which allows them to attain new skills. Some of these skills are ones that give you more SKP under certain circumstances, give you items, traits, or even whole alternate forms! Each stygian gets an avatar form, either a human or animal form-- or if it's a legendary stygian, a mythical creature form! In lore, they're something like nightmares taking the form of these creatures, and they each have their own realm that they reign over, called a Nightmare Kingdom. There are also two more species of characters you can play with called treatlings (kemonomimi type characters which evolve from treats), and divers (humans who dive into the nightmare realm for research purposes), with a new species on the way called Labryinthians! Along with them, you can collect daydreams which are pets that you can attach to stygian for in battle effects!
Recently, they shortened the first quest for first time owners (FTO) to just one image of/writing about your figment(starter) stygian-- when I joined there was a whole quest with 5 whole steps to do-- so it's a LOT easier to get into it now! Still, if that's something you want to do, you can do a veteran figment quest for a BUNCH of goodies later on!
Right now, they have a huge event going on called The Singularity! It's themed around retrofuturism, with a main story quest line that takes you on a tour to different planets to explore! Aside from that, there's a free advent calendar, prompt quest generator, a different world boss everyday, free raffle and daily auction sales of premade stygians, event shop and more!
Anyways, infodump over!

Commissions Reopened and NSFW Art
General | Posted 2 years agoSo first things first, I'm announcing that my commissions are now reopened! I revamped my carrd and updated some info, so even if you've already commissioned me before, I encourage you to take a look at it to see what's new. The main changes are that I have updated my ToS, made my prices generally cheaper, and most excitingly, I have decided to start taking NSFW commissions. I'm also dipping my toes into posting my NSFW art online. That being said, I'm unsure if I should post my NSFW on this account or make a separate account? What do you guys think?

Preventing Burnout in Artfight?
General | Posted 3 years agoI have a problem with getting burnt out pretty easily, but I want to make sure I can get a decent amount of attacks done for artfight. I'm already prioritizing revenge above all else, but does anyone have any tips for preventing burnout?
Joining Artfight
General | Posted 3 years agoOn a whim, I've decided to set up my art fight account. I only have Fia and Caelyn there so far, but I plan to upload my other characters there, too, once I've uploaded them to Toyhouse. It'll be my first art fight this year!

No More Animals in Hats
General | Posted 3 years agoI've realized that I longer find the animal in hats series really fun to work on, so I'm not going to be working on it anymore. It started with the sloth, which was originally a challenge to see if I could paint a sloth without directly referencing a photo (considering how many photos I have of them and love them), but the subsequent ones were all done with direct references since I wasn't ready to do the same with those animals. I just don't find realism/direct reference all that fun. Maybe if I find another animal that I love and study as much as sloths I'll do the same I did with the first piece and add to the series then, but I find that highly unlikely.
I'm a little bummed about it cause I'd love to be able to add more to it, and maybe sell prints of some of them but meh. It is what it is.

Fuck Dude I Love Dragons (Rant)
General | Posted 3 years agoI just wanted to say...
I got this commission to draw someone's fursona but with a bunch of dragons!!
I haven't drawn any dragons lately cause my obsession with my DnD characters has really taken up all of my time and energy, but trust me when I tell you I used to draw them ALL the time as a kid and that they're one of my favorite things to draw. I just think they're really neat and there's so much you can do with the different concepts of dragons all over the world in designing them. That's why I had so much fun designing Cilthid. I used to have Dragonology as a kid and my mom even got me the card game and a frost dragon plushie.
I even had a drawing of one in my elementary school's art book! Unfortunately I don't have it anymore, but I might be able to get it if I contact my school, assuming they keep records of the old artbooks they had. If I did, I think I might try to redraw it... I really don't have any of my stuff before high school sadly which I'm really sad about, which means I don't get to see the full scope of how far I've come with my art.
Anyways, I love dragons and I'm really excited to draw this commission, which is actually a collab with my friend 8Bit!

Commissions are OPEN
General | Posted 4 years agoJust a heads up, my commissions are in fact open, I've just neglected to update my commission info on here. Main reason I haven't is that I plan on moving the information to my carrd soon.
For now, if you're interested you can check out my twt for prices and examples here.
And if you want to go ahead and commission me, make sure to fill out my form here and shoot me a private message.

New Here
General | Posted 4 years agoAs the title says, I'm completely new to FurAffinity. I figured since I was getting more and more into furry stuff, especially with my art, it'd only be fitting to create one. Anyways, I've uploaded a few of my art pieces I've done, some much older than others (hence the different older watermarks). I still need to set up commission info, as I am currently taking commissions, as well as link my other pages here. With that said, hello FurAffinity!
