Posted 2 years agoHeyo! Long time, no update. Hoo boy my sense of time is honestly like-- nonexistent.
It's been a pretty busy year so far; been helping my sister move, been getting more in shape biking a lot. Been writing a Lot (since I fell face-first into Danny Phantom and crossover fanfiction), which has been fun.
I'm mostly writing this journal to say that I'm trying out the Ko-fi shop feature! I've seen people using it for adoptables and it sounds like a really neat way to handle them. I've put my most recently posted three adoptables up there for now, and I might go through and see what unsold ones I have to add as well.

Update!
Posted 3 years agoSorry for the lack of updates here! I want to get back into the habit of frequent updates (and posting).
I've been struggling back and forth with some mental health issues still, as well as some undiagnosed health issues (that I need to be more on top of...). I've been drawing more lately, but my focus often isn't there, so it's taking me a long time to finish projects unless I hyperfocus on them.
I'm trying to take better care of myself and push aside the anxiety, though. A lot of my anxiety is centered around my health, and in particular my eyes (due to visual snow, pattern glare, migraines, etc), so sometimes I just get overwhelming anxiety when I try to draw and my vision does a Weird Thing while staring at the blank canvas or lines-- and I just spiral. I have a clean bill of health for my eyes, but I need to get an MRI soon to check my nerves (which is something I've been putting off for far too long because of anxiety, and it's in turn causing More anxiety). I need to stop letting my anxiety hold me back in this way. It's bogged me down for too long now.
My hand is also proving bothersome lately. I got a tablet stand (finally;) now and that's helping, but I need to stretch more and loosen my grip. It took painful spasms in my thumb (and not being able to draw for awhile because of it) for me to realize I hold my tablet pen in a strangle.
So my current list of things I need to do to get better are: get the fucking MRI already, be kinder to my hand, and try to get formally diagnosed for ADHD so I can finally try medication for it and have a focused thought for the first time in 11 years.
Just-- lots of aiming for self improvement. I'm happy I'm drawing more, but I want and need to finish more projects and quicker-- especially commissions. I can't say it enough, but thank you all so much for your patience with me and my slow commission process. I want to do better for myself, but also for the people that have commissioned me. Yall are saints for being so understanding.
In more positive news, I'm currently looking at printers so that I can Finally set up an Etsy (I need a printer for shipping labels). I've been wanting to set one up for a very long time now, and I'm determined to stop hesitating. I plan to sell buttons, charms, and eventually prints once I feel more comfortable with handling shipping. I'll keep yall updated on that as it goes.
In other positive life stuff, I've been learning Japanese and it's been Such a great thing for my mental health?? Having something to focus on and learn and grow with, in a very tangible way, has just been awesome. I've always wanted to learn another language and I'm finally doing it and just-- AH. There's so many things I need to just Do, and to just fucking go for it and not hesitate and take forever on-- I'm gonna make this the year that happens.

Ever since getting my new desktop, I've been excited to get back into the swing of drawing more and I'm looking to do streams again now that I'm fully settled onto my new device. I really want to start doing stream commissions in particular, since I've always had a lot of fun with those and I think that it's additionally fun for those attending a stream to watch their requests be drawn.
I think I'll actually start with a couple of request streams first, since it's been a very long time since I did freebies for the lovelies here ; u ;
I'm making this journal tho to ask what you guys would prefer (regarding both commission and freebie streams)-- coloured busts, or colourless full-body sketches? I enjoy doing both, and I'm just curious to see what the general preference is for people that attend streams-- or if there is any prefer at all.

Visual snow anyone?
Posted 7 years agoI'm not sure if I've ever really discussed it past a mention on here, but I've had persistent visual snow since I was about 16-17, so for about 8-9 years now. For anyone unfamiliar with it, visual snow is a not-well-understood condition where small, snow-like dots cover your entire visual field. The dots move, and tend to resemble pale television static over whatever you're looking at. The condition varies from person to person, but this is a general summary of VS. VS is also commonly associated with common secondary issues such as sensitivity to light, pronounced after-images (seeing pale outlines of objects after looking away from them), and tinnitus (persistent ringing in the ears). Visual snow is an independent issue that doesn't stem from any actual issues with your eyes directly; it's thought to be a neurological condition where some wires have become mixed up, as so to speak.
For me, visual snow is something that came on suddenly-- after I was oddly dehydrated for nearly a week during the winter; I remember not being able to quench my thirst no matter how much i drank. I've had VS, sensitivity to light, and tinnitus all wrapped together since then and it has not mixed well with my anxiety and OCD.
For the most part, it's pretty easy to ignore VS because you simply get used to it. It becomes the new normal-- and for many people with VS, it's been the normal for their entire lives. But there are still instances where I find myself absolutely shaken with anxiety over the state of my vision. I spent a long time fearing a worse diagnosis before I knew what visual snow was, and there's still that underlying anxiety that something more serious could be wrong, even with clean eye exams in tow.
I find that VS can particularly be troublesome with drawing sometimes, and there are periods of time where I feel avoidant of drawing because of focusing too much on how VS affects what I'm seeing. I particularly struggle with parallel lines and tight patterns. My eyes simply can't focus on repeating shapes and patterns well, and my VS has a way of making parallel lines (grids are the WORST) look somewhat warped and wavy.
Just a bit ago, I was reading a forum where someone bracketed off every two sentences with thick parallel lines like a ladder and trying to read the text between those lines got me shaking with a small panic attack after seeing the lines jumble about in my periphery. It makes me feel sick with dread that something worse is going on with my vision, even though I know that VS distorts what I'm seeing and that I have a hard time comprehending lines and patterns more than other people.
And I guess I'm writing this now because I did just have a panic attack and I really wanted to get some of this off of my chest as I calm down. I also wanted to ask if anyone here also experiences visual snow. If you do, do you find that it interferes with your art at all? Does it make you avoidant of certain patterns, shapes, or subjects? Feel free to vent here if you do and have similar anxieties.

New computer!
Posted 7 years agoSo I just got a new computer! Specifically a desktop, after having used (not awesome spec) laptops for years! It's been quite the adjustment, though a happy one. It's definitely going to take me a good while to get used to drawing on such a large screen, though (the colour range seems ENORMOUSLY increased, too)
My spine is also killing me rn cause I was using a laptop in a reclined, lounge position for like over 7 years and swapping to a desk chair overnight for my computer time has been hard on my back. I know it'll get better with time and stretching (and possibly a better chair, this one isn't fantastic)-- but in the meantime: ouch.
I plan to stream a lot more now too, since I have a machine that can handle it! ; U ;

I recently started using new brushes in SAI that have left me favoring cleaner lines atm, and I've been very very happy with that change and want to keep that up for my commissions.
That being said, these lines do take me longer than sketches and I do feel like it's in my best interest to raise my prices to reflect that. I hope that this doesn't rub anyone the wrong way, I just really need to make sure that I'm valuing the time that I'm putting into my work more.
I have one person left on my queue here from prior to this change, and please don't worry these changes won't affect your commission at all.
UPDATED PRICES:
$25 USD for a full-body of a single character, feral or anthro
$10 USD for an additional character of around the same size (2 max for anthros, 3 for ferals)
-Characters smaller than the original may be discounted-

Busy December
Posted 8 years agoHeyo, sorry for the sudden lapse of activity again-- I went to Anime USA last weekend (had a blast!), and shortly afterwards I had major dental work done and I've just been recouping and vegging since. I had my top six front teeth all capped at once (a 4 hour dental procedure), and my mouth's just been swollen and achy since then. Been trying to rinse with salt water to speed up the healing process, but for now it's just all soreness and irritation. I have the frustrating desire to bite into something to put pressure on my sore gums, but I'm not allowed to bite with these temporary caps (I get the real things late January) so riprip

I'd like to note too that, if I do commissions worth over $30 anytime in the near future, I will ask that people pay me afterwards for those commissions. I struggle a lot with executive dysfunction, and having the money exchange be after the fact for larger sums helps me to work on a much stricter deadline.
Right now I have 5 slots open, all specifically for fullbody sketches of feral or anthro characters. I will do two feral characters at most per piece, or an anthro with a feral, but I will not be doing drawings with more than one anthro per piece at this time. Sketch requests with two characters will cost an additional $5 flat rate for a character of similar size.
Uncoloured sketches are $10 USD, coloured are $15 USD-- all via Paypal.

I'm thinking of either doing coloured fullbody sketches or coloured busts. Prob also gonna have a discount for Pokemon-specific commissions!
