Progress on trip
General | Posted 12 years agoI apologize for not posting this sooner, but I am in my 5th day of traveling and it ended as of now. I am currently residing in Rapid City in South Dakota and will be spending tomorrow at Mt. Rushmore and will be visiting the site of Deadwood.
I will attempt to keep you all up to date via mobile. Haven't had much time to use my laptop since I've been busy with traveling and visiting sites.
Goodnight and take care.

Project in pause until TEN characters are selected for story
General | Posted 12 years agoHello,
I have been needing to make this journal for a while, and I needed to make it public.
One of the projects I am working on in my series involves my persona Kai meeting up with ten different characters to help him on his journey. Each one is based on the element they stand for, but I only have one from my series qualified as one of the two leaders. I need to make sure if I want to add a character created by another artist, I need to be given an approval before adding to the Ten roster.
This is the roster so far:
Leader of the Ten: Kai Asaiken
The Ten Roster
Azgaku Dreadlow: Ten of Darkness and Leader of the male side of the Ten.
Midnight Star Kanta Nalkina: Ten of the Stars and Leader of the female side of the Ten.
(open): Ten of Wind and Male.
(open): Ten of Water and Female.
(open): Ten of Fire and Male.
(open): Ten of Earth and Male.
(open): Ten of Ice and Female.
(open): Ten of Spirit and Female.
(open): Ten of Shadow and Female.
Though I have already thought up of members for the list, it has never been official until given permission.
I hope to complete this list so I will be able to work on the first entry of my first entry in my trilogy.

Leaving in two weeks for Round-Country Trip
General | Posted 12 years agoHello.
This journal is a reminder to let you all know I will be traveling around the United States for three weeks, going through and/or visiting at least 18 states along the way.
Departure date is on the 10th of July and I will not be returning until August 1st to my home. Places I will be visiting include Dayton OH, St. Louis MO, Rapid City SD, Yellowstone WY, Reno NV, Sacramento CA, San Francisco CA, Vandenberg AFB CA (birthplace), Santa Barbera CA, Las Vegas NV, Phoenix AR, Albequrque NM, Dallas TX, New Orleans LA, Atlanta GA, Charlotte NC, and returning home. Some places I have not included since I can't remember all the destinations, but I will keep you all posted via phone since my computer does not have 3G capabilities.
When I return, I will have finished a photo booklet to be printed at Staples, which is what I'll be working on during the trip.
If there are any questions, let me know.

Plans for this Summer
General | Posted 12 years agoSince Graduation is done and over with, and I am working on saving up this Summer, there are a few things I would like to do and will be doing over the next three months.
1) I will be taking leave from July 10th to August 1st on a Round-Country Trip with my Dad, in which I will be preparing a list of what to take on the trip in the meantime.
2) I am gathering as much information about Credit Cards before I decide to get one, which I will need in the future in order to establish good credit history in case I plan to apply for a loan in the future.
3) I will be working on obtaining a full-time job, after Summer Break and working at the Bookstore on my campus, in order to make sure I keep up with my expenses and have the assets set aside for when I apply to get a truck and an apartment. I would like to work for Best Buy since I have more research about electronic products and would like to use that knowledge at work.
4) Once I return to the bookstore, I will be purchasing the necessary software I need since I can get the supplies at Student Price since I am technically Staff for working at Virginia Western.
I just hope to achieve these goals this summer since I am planning to pursue my career and making sure I have all the supplies I need in order to continue.

Zelda: Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons available now!
General | Posted 12 years agoYesterday, almost immediately, I purchased the GBC downloads of the two Zelda Oracle games off of the Nintendo 3DS eShop.
I never actually played the original versions on the Game Boy Color, but it was a good chance to play some original Zelda games I needed to catch up on. The first title I played was Oracle of Ages, in which I completed 3 levels and currently on the 4th. The Ages title is pretty tricky, especially when you have to travel between two time periods over a 400 year time span, but you get used to it after a while. Then I started the Oracle of Seasons game and the seasonal change every time you enter and leave a town or field gets pretty annoying, especially when the only seasonal staff element you own is Winter. I enjoyed playing these titles so much, and so long, that I had played them up to 1:30 AM this morning.
If there are two good Virtual Console titles to try on the 3DS, these would be them. Tell me what you think of them if you've already tried them or are trying them for the first time.

Planning on getting some supplies this Summer
General | Posted 12 years agoNow that I have graduated from College, my next plan is to make sure this talent is kept going.
After graduation concluded, I have been saving money up so I will be able to afford not only my expenses, but to purchase the right and up to date materials for what I have planned.
First off, I am going to get the art supplies and software I will need to continue my career. I plan to get the 156 Prismacolor Double-Tip Brush Marker set so I can work on my hand-drawn japanese artwork with a complete set. Secondly, I plan to purchase the updated Office Mac and Adobe Creative Suite 6 software. Since I work at my campus bookstore, I am able to purchase the software at student price and can use my 10% discount to get it even cheaper.
Secondly, I plan to get the necessary hardware, including a new desktop and an Hewlett-Packard wireless printer. Since my current hardware cannot support the CS6 software, I am planning to supply myself with an iMac (21.5 in), but I am also planning on using a credit card to make the purchase and just pay it off with a payment plan. I know most people do not want to pay all at once hardware that cost $1300, but I also want to make sure I know how to use a credit card properly, so I am gathering as much information as I can get before using it.
Lastly, I am going to be taking leave for the most of July, from the 10th to the 31st, or August 1st since I am traveling for 22 days. This trip around the country is my graduation gift before I go into focusing on my career, but I am also going to enhance my photography skills as well. As such, I am planning to purchase a tri-pod, a carrying case, and presumably a new lens for extended shots. I will be working on a photo travel book in InDesign, so I am going to print it as soon as I get back.
Anyways, that is the plan for what I am doing this summer, so I hope to accomplish them.

Will be Graduating Friday.
General | Posted 12 years agoYes, this upcoming Friday, May 10th, I will be graduating from Virginia Western Community College and obtaining my Associate's Degree in Graphic Design.
Not only will this make me an official Graphic Designer, but it will also provide me the opportunity to start working on some of my own artwork as well as commissions.
This summer, I am planning to purchase the necessary supplies I need to improve my business, which includes getting the complete Prismacolor marker set of 156 markers, which is not cheap, but need to work towards.
I am also planning on improving in the photography department, so I am planning to take some pictures on my round-country trip in July to improve my pictures details.
Lastly, if any of you happen to be in the area for my graduation, hopefully you'll stop by.
Anyways, goodnight.

Building up for the Future
General | Posted 12 years agoAs my final semester comes to an end, I have various plans for what I want to do once I am a graduate.
On July 10th, I will be taking leave on a 22 day trip round country with my father to go visit places around the US, which is also a trip down memory lane. So in the meantime, I will be opening commissions for expenses and trip funding so I won't end up spending a fortune across the 22 day span.
Once my classes are taken cared up and finished, I will begin to primarily focus on my own work and commissions, aside from my bookstore work and mowing business.
The reason for the commissions is not only for my personal expenses, but so I can afford to purchase artistic materials, such as Prismacolor markers and possibly a new, bigger computer.
I want to focus on my manga along with ways to improve my graphic skills, because I want to focus on the hair design to make it look more detailed. If there is any tutorials, I could possibly use them.
My side project is being kept secret until I have it up and running, so be prepared for when I announce it.

Palm Sunday/My 22nd Birthday
General | Posted 12 years agoTomorrow is my 22nd birthday.
One thing I discovered today is the night I was born was also a Palm Sunday. My birthday lands on it once every 11 years, so this is a great discovery I made today. It's a shame it will never land on Easter since St. Patrick's Day is always a week before my birthday.
Anyways, hope you all have a good weekend.

Turning 22 next Sunday.
General | Posted 13 years agoYup, I will be turning 22 years old next Sunday, which is also Palm Sunday. According to the math, Palm Sunday will be as close to Easter Sunday as I can get since St. Patrick's Day is exactly a week prior to my birthday.
With my computer back up and running, I should be able to work on my portfolio projects and try to work in some pics I sketched prior to Spring Break.
So, hope all of you had a great St. Patrick's Day.

Got my laptop back
General | Posted 13 years agoThis is good progress, I got my Macbook back today from the electronic repair place, and I only had to spend 75 bucks. Good spend, bad for my budget.
The good part is I can continue to work on my Portfolio Projects again, which are all due by April 4th for the Art Show. I am debating to work on my pictures either alongside or after all of my college projects are done, because I WANT to graduate this May.
So yeah, good to have my laptop back again with all the memory still intact.

MacBook shipped
General | Posted 13 years agoTurns out, as I took my laptop to a computer specialist, is my hard drive was almost dead, so I probably won't be able to get my old data, which included one project, which I will redo tomorrow prior to class, and one ink I was experimenting with, which was by another artist. Was only used for practice.
The good news is I may pay at a cheaper price compared to the estimate those guys at Geek Squad gave me. I will however have to reinstall my software, which includes my Adobe, Office, and Wacom applications.
Will post more information once I get it back.

Go fuckin figure
General | Posted 13 years agoWell, now I am in trouble once again. My MacBook all of a sudden today started slowing down to the point where it completely froze.
After I rebooted the system, it stood on a grey screen for about three minutes before going to the black screen and displaying the startup code.
Apparently the "Still waiting for root device" kept popping up. Now I am wondering how I am going to finish my projects for both my classes and commissions. Because if I don't somehow fix my Mac to finish my class projects, I won't be graduating this April.
So hopefully I can get it back in working order.

Looking back...
General | Posted 13 years agoHello my fellow artists.
Today, I was thinking of remaking some old pics with the cel-shaded style I am working on now, so I went through my entire gallery to see if anything would come to mind.
What I did see where various memories and friends. Some who are still on, and some who have left years prior. To me, there are people we meet maybe once or twice, but there are those who will stand by our side no matter what. And that is what being an artist is about: hanging around people who inspire you to become even greater.
So tomorrow, I will work to finish up an assignment, and then it is back to working on some Commissions, because as assets are dwindling, I am accomplishing nothing by just surfing and working on schoolwork.
As most of my art is in the past, I promise there will be even more to come in the future.

Progress in the Nintendo Department
General | Posted 13 years agoAs of two weeks ago, tomorrow at least, I went out to purchase a Nintendo Wii U, which was a bit slow at first, but once I got it up and running, it started performing well.
What I am hoping to use on it is the addition of the Wii U Chat, which is much cheaper to use than having to get a Gold Membership to use the Kinect in order to video chat. The only thing I have heard that is disappointing is in order to video chat, you have to log out and quit the games you are currently playing on the console.
Also, I have begun to unlock secrets within Pokemon Black 2. If you Memory Link your respective version with the predecessor (Black & Black 2/White & White 2), you will unlock cutscenes that take place either during Black/White or between the time of Black/White and Black 2/White 2. You will also have access to capture some of N's released Pokemon in the wild, excluding the Zorua you get in Driftveil.
If there is anymore information reguarding Nintendo, PlayStation, or Xbox, I will be sure to post as soon as possible.

Motivation Needed: Seeking help!
General | Posted 13 years agoI need some help with motivation, especially since I have none and need some in order to do some work again.
Normally I have motivation when someone I like is online (female-wise), but it has been deteriorating over time since 2007 (when I could post 3 pics a day).
Now I am in some dire need of motivation since I need it to make some art again.

The 5th of NoVember: Guy Fawkes Day
General | Posted 13 years agoIt is that day again out of the year, where I sit down to watch the film "V for Vendetta".
Nothing celebrates Guy Fawkes Day like a movie made by the Wachowski Brothers (oops, I forgot one is a female now).
Also, NoVember is the only month of the year in which I capitalize the letter "V" in the month, and often associates with "NV", or Envy for word play.
Also, hope everyone is enjoying their 5th of NoVember, and hope to hear from you all soon.

What I have learned from being on FA for the last 5 years
General | Posted 13 years agoThis mark is a quarter after the time I have been on FA.
I came here 5 years and about 3 months ago because I wanted to share my artwork with the world. I was given deviantArt and then came to FurAffinity. In those 5 years, I noted the difference between friend and foe, some who even played both roles in the end.
Also, people on here inspire and motivate you to improve and make your artwork better. Some give you pointers, criticism, and even motivational comments. There are people who help make you better, there are people you wish you could be as good as, and there are those who you want to be better than. Not all three goals can be met, because you alone have your own personal skill and talent that shouldn't be altered.
I have seen friends come, go, and die. Some of which I am greatful to know, some of which I wish I never knew, and those I wish I got to knew, such as Renamon Princess, whom may rest in peaceful rest, died last year or so.
I hope to 5 more years of even more memorable experiences, some of which I hope to be even better than these last 5.

A huge pointer regarding posting characters of age pictures
General | Posted 13 years agoFor those who are concerned about posting images of characters, and having to deal with the Age-based ruling, here is one way to check more information about the character(s).
On the Internet, there are multiple Wikias that contain the most accurate information of each anime, show, movie, and video game, containing each biography, age, type, and other information regarding the character(s) depending on if they are age appropriate or not.
If there is any more information you need to know, I will be able to help.
And BTW, Rouge the Bat is 18 YEARS OLD. Check the Sonic Wikia to verify.

General | Posted 13 years agoSince due to recent layoff from work, I have been open for commissions in the meantime.
Prices for my commissions are still as low and reasonable, starting as little as 15 dollars for a fully done picture.

Anyways, hope to hear from some of you soon.

Commissions Eminent, due to Layoff
General | Posted 13 years agoDue to my recently discovered layoff this week, until December or so, I am planning to open up commissions in the meantime.
All I really need is enough to last me to December, or so, some paper, ink, time, and a Harry Potter movie, which goes from the point I start until the time I finish the image, which is what I did for the recent Lady Silver and Ryuuia pictures, which took less than 3 hours to work on.
Anyways, I am open for business, just check my prices under my profile and I will work on them ASAP, as long as I can play a movie while I am doing them.

All I really need is enough to last me to December, or so, some paper, ink, time, and a Harry Potter movie, which goes from the point I start until the time I finish the image, which is what I did for the recent Lady Silver and Ryuuia pictures, which took less than 3 hours to work on.

Finally found my art kicker
General | Posted 13 years agoI was working on my Aurora and Kyle picture last night, when I came into a realization: I can motivate myself to work on pictures when I have a movie playing.
Last night, I watched Deep Impact, and from the time I started on the ink to finish, I had watched the full movie and only a couple Futurama episodes.
So, I have yet a birthday pic and a long overdue trade to work on, which will be a day for each to work on, and they should be up and online the day they are finished since I hate delaying posts.
Anyways, hope something good is on Netflix, hopefully some good anime movies in english that isn't just Castle of Cagliostro.
