Why was I not told this game was coming out?! ;-;
The original's both the hardest and most satisfying game I have ever played.

So, PJ got another tattoo

+1 Car
General | Posted 16 years agoSo, they found my car that was stolen last year. It's been sitting in some alley since last year, radio stolen and speakers broken. The windows were down and a couple doors were open so it's got a lot of standing water in it and such. PJ's dad and brother got it from the tow lot and brought it back to our house. I'm probably going to just give it to them in return for stuff to fix my car.
BSG Finale
General | Posted 16 years agoSo, I just finished watching the Battlestar Galactica series finale. Best way to describe it is very satisfying.
The final scene with Starbuck was like a punch in the gut. I'm still BAWWWing over it. ;-;
And even though I prefer Bear's version, using the Hendrix version of All Along The Watchtower in the final scene was a genius idea.

So... bad and good news...
General | Posted 17 years agoWell, my mom called me today and they're closing down the plant she's worked at for 30 years. It won't happen till June but she could be let go before that. She's got a ton of debt and unemployment won't make the house payments. Hopefully we can find another job for her and maybe a better or second one for me.
The good news is that Street Fighter IV came out this week and I got it today. Even though the game's changed a lot since I played SFII: The New Challengers back on my SNES, it's great nostalgia for me. I've fallen for C. Viper as a character, and gotten pretty decent as her. And interestingly that she is the one that unlocks Cammy, so more reason for me to like her. :D

I feel like such a whore...
General | Posted 17 years agoI popped in Stranglehold today for the first time in months, and I finished it... and went through and got a total of 385 achievement points just today. The game has, with DLC I don't have, 1250 total. >.> I passed the 36000 marker thanks to it as well, so I'm well on my way to 40k, and 50k by the end of the year.
My mom was in a car wreck today. She's fine as is the guy she hit. He was spun out in the middle of the interstate and she slammed side to side against him and his wreck caused a couple more from people trying to stop. Hopefully since he caused it by being in the middle of the road, she won't even have to pay a dime to fix the car.

Preparing for the End of the World
General | Posted 17 years agoI've been curious of this for awhile, but what's the obsession with shows/movies/games that are about the end of the world?
Two of the best (if not the best) games from 2008 were Left 4 Dead and Fallout 3, but basically taking place after the fall of humanity. Next year'll follow with I Am Alive and probably a couple more that fit the genre.
Battlestar Galactica is possibly the best show on TV and there's less than 40 thousand humans left alive in the entire galaxy.
It's almost like we're psychologically preparing ourselves for the absolute worst possible scenario. Even though most people, even those who play these games, would totally freeze up if anything like this were to happen, is there some sort of solace to take place in maybe knowing something that could save your life once? Maybe putting yourself in these desperate situations make you think that things now aren't so bad?
It's one of the most depressing concepts imaginable, because there's no going back to a normal way of life in these stories. Even if society could be rebuilt, nothing would ever be the same again. A better question would be that is life even worth rebuilding, depending on how majorly things were fucked. Would we ever return to the standard of life we have now?
Or maybe it's just fun to have carte blanche on killing zombies.

Bouncing checks
General | Posted 17 years agoAlmost every day since Christmas I've had someone call in or come to the store to complain about their check either bouncing or going to bounce. It's getting a little tiring because they all expect us to do something about it. They've pretty much unanimously been old people too, which seems to be Shopko's target audience despite their attempts to make it more youthful.
I just have to tell them that once it's in our system and it's out of our hands and they have to deal with their banks (which is something they should have done first). I've only had one customer have a legitimate question because money hadn't been returned to her card yet, so I had to get a reference number from our GO to get the money released since the bank was holding it.
Another customer bitched while I was standing at the Service Desk because they had to pay tax on the full price of a Digital Converter Box. So apparently having to pay the extra 2.40 after getting 40.00 off is an outrage.
"Well, I'll pay it, but I'm gonna do some checking on it," is what they always say. Bullshit, you're going to pay it and we'll never hear a thing from you again because you couldn't scam us out of your precious 2.40.
Another thing that didn't directly happen to me was a customer came in and tried to return something but paid in cash, didn't have a receipt, and it was bought well over the return time limit. The moment Teri told her she couldn't return it she freaked out and was like "This is ridiculous!! I want to speak to a manger." Teri just called Eric over to the Service Desk and told her the exact same thing and she left in a hissy fit.
Of course, they always complain that they're not coming back and they'll tell everyone not to shop here. Yea, if you're that big of a prick, your "Friends" aren't going to give a damn about what you say.

Fuck my job
General | Posted 17 years agoSo I'm not getting a "merit increase" this year, as is no one else. Earliest I MIGHT get one would be into May, as opposed to the start of March.
Time to find a new job where I actually get paid and appreciated for basically being their slave.

Xbox Live
General | Posted 17 years agoEven though I basically know everyone who's watching me so you'll already know this if you read it, but my Gamertag is Codster2005. I've got Left 4 Dead, CoD4 and WaW, Saints Row 2, Gears 2, pretty much every big game that comes out or not so add me if you want to play.
I hate customers
General | Posted 17 years agoBleh, I'd swear this was the Year of the Dog considering how much the damn customers want to whine about things.
We had one in today bitching about having to pay tax on the full price of a Digital Converter Box when they use the coupon.
Gah!! >.<

Snow
General | Posted 17 years agoWell, first blizzard of the year (well, season, we had one in like March), and I got a day off of work today because of it. At least I assume I did, the phone at work rang off the hook for a long period of time.
I'll probably post some pictures later, of the incredibly high drifts we have around my car.

Some songs...
General | Posted 17 years agoWell... here a couple songs that I've always loved. They speak to me unlike most songs for some reason. I can listen to them for hours on end.
First off, Fields of Athenry by Dropkick Murphys. This isn't an original song by them, but they've covered it and I really like listening to it. It's about love and longing for someone, etc.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=10agPj0Vzu4
Next is New Slang by The Shins. It's about being unhappy with your current place in life and wanting to just get away from everything.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M11Kr1-q-pA
It's late for me, so I'm not as long-winded as I can be about things, but I felt like getting this out, even though no one'll read it.

I guess I should use this...
General | Posted 17 years agoI think I'm gonna start posting some sort of journal on my life and what not every once and awhile, at least more frequent than normal. I probably will x-post it to my LJ, not that anyone's likely to read that either.
Odds are it'll be me bitching about my job or passing on reviews and such of games/music, etc.
