I'm not dead yet.
I've been having some serious medical problems since last May. I've lost all of my toes on my right foot, had a vein removed from my right leg, my left eye was damaged by injections meant to save it, and my IV antibiotics have pushed me into 3rd stage kidney disease.
I'm currently in a very good nursing home. My only complaints is where the hell is my laundry and would three slices of bacon for breakfast break the food budget here?!
But I haven't heard no bell ring.
Maybe I won't be back this year, but I will be back. Be ready to see some titles change hands.
I don't know what else I can add right now except for that I miss you guys a lot.

The other day I went and got outfitted for compression stockings. Dumbass doctor managed to scrape off maybe 16-18 square inches of skin. That's a year's worth of hard work down the tubes. If it gets infected, it's going to be another year of wound care.

Whew!

I feel that I should be out celebrating. I might celebrate this October when I'm scheduled for a followup appointment. But right now, I'm just happy I don't have this big angry weeping wound on my leg anymore.

I'm also keeping my blood sugar down quite successfully. I'm finally making those sweeping changes to my diet I need to do and I'm getting my portions down.

I'm now building up my stamina in the condo complex's heath center.

Weird ass conversation in the waiting room at wound care the other day. Instead of a regular cane, I'm using a hiking stick to help me walk. Well, I'm in this waiting room and the other patients want to see my walking stick and I let them examine it.

You know what they all asked me?

Was it a good defensive weapon? Have I ever had to hit anybody with it? Did it have a concealed dagger in it or something?

Did I miss a briefing?

It appears that my leg ulcer has finally closed up. You cannot imagine my gasp of relief. But it's not over yet, so don't even try to imagine my gasp of disbelief.

I have to see a vascular surgeon because I have a vein in my leg that needs some work, and I might have to undergo surgery to have my Achilles tendon lengthened.

It goes on and on.
