Back from an extended hiatus I guess
Posted 6 years agoHey to anyone whos even bothering to read, lol. I'm kinda sorta back after an extended time out from FA and art in general but it's not all for nothing!
In this time, me and Al have bought our first house, moved in, been settling, I've picked up an extra day at my job had 2019 try and kick my ass right off the bat by throwing some spicy emotional trauma my way but ya girl just chopped her hair off into a mohawk and got her shit together. So I guess I'm back for the most part?
I'm not gunna lie, I actually don't really have much of a drive to ever do commissions again. My job is stable and pays well, I don't need any extra cash, and I'm much more interested in just doing what I want to do when the mood strikes and trying to be more of a regular person in my little corner of this community.
So I guess that's all the updates for now! I've got a new twitter account that I'm gunna try and remember and I've got an Insta that I've had for a bit but occasionally forget to post to. You can tell how great I am with social media. So if y'all wanna catch me there to see what I'm up to, be my guests.

More barn stories!
Posted 7 years agoHey everyone! I'm probably gunna be keeping the theme up of just being quiet for a bit here then dropping in every now and then. That's just how life is going right now lol.
But I'm back with some more barn stories, this time a collection of evidence to support my assumption that my boss has adopted me like some kind of wage daughter XD
Alright, so Liz is a pretty motherly woman to begin with. I've found out she and her husband don't have any kids of their own and prooobably just end up adopting whoever works for them to make up for it XD
So story #1.
Wednesdays are my maintenance days pretty much. I'll spend like 6 hours (10-4) doing whatever Don (Liz's husband) sets the project for the day as. Could be weeding all around the property, painting the fences, deep cleaning the stalls, scrubbing down the mats in the barn, raking leaves etc.
Well this day was a weeding day and it turned out to be the ONLY brutally sunny day in a string of overcast cooler days, go figure. Now regardless of what the task is for the day, I always go muck the pasture first since Liz likes it done every day. Usually takes me about a half hour -45 min to do so it's close to 11 by the time I start weeding.
Start with all the flower beds at the back of their house and spend roughly a half hour back there when I hear the little side gate open and Liz comes strolling up asking if I had enough to drink. I had just brought a small can of soda with me since it's all we had at home and I didn't have time to pick up anything so I told her that but said if I get thirsty I'll just take 15 min to run down to the gas station and get one of those big cans of monster or something.
She seemed to take it at that and disappeared back to whatever she was doing. 15 minutes later I hear the back door of the house open and Liz comes strolling out onto the patio with a tall glass of ice water and just stands in front of me, shakes it a little bit, and goes "ahem"
Me: "Oh my god, Elizabeth I said I'd be alright you didn't have t-"
Liz: "Oh I know you did."
Cue 5 minutes of me trying to tell her it's fine, I don't need the water while I've got streams of sweat dripping down my face. She just puts her hand up, shushes me and goes.
"Well do you want it?"
Me: "...... yes please"
Liz: "Atta girl."
Comes out and brings me the water, tells me to just go park it in the shade for a bit and take a break. It was close to 12 anyhow and that's when I go feed the horses their lunch. So I take a welcome breather in the shade, am drinking my water as Liz disappears back inside again... and then she comes back out with an orange for me to eat.
For the whole rest of the day then as I was still weeding, every hour or so Liz would come out and ask if I wanted that cup of water refilled and refused to take "no" for an answer
Story #2
This was during the morning half of my Saturday shift which is pretty easy and routine. Get to the barn, set up the horses' breakfast, fill up the water buckets in their stalls, bring em in, clean em up, pick the pasture, etc. I had just brought Annie in when Liz comes strolling into the barn, says morning and then asks if I'd want a donut. Not even one she had in the house. She was apparently running out to the store, wanted a donut as well and figured she'd get one for me too if I wanted one.
Side note, those like sourdough glazed donuts at winn dixie are to DIE for.
Story #3
This was another Wednesday shift where the theme of the day was deep cleaning the stalls in the barn. Now, the whole barn is built out of this like plaster/concrete stuff inside and out (it's honestly rediculiously fancy and the groom's quarters is straight up a mini apartment.) so "deep cleaning" the stalls involves bringing the horses out, usually putting them in the smaller paddock if it's nice out or the wash rack if the weather is pretty rough. Then all the shavings are pushed into a big pile in the middle, the walls are wetted down with the hose and then you get to scrubbing with a bucket of soapy water and a stiff-bristle brush. Top to bottom, every wall, hell of an upper arm workout.
I usually do it on my own but today Don was helping me out with it so we could cut down on how long the horses were just standing in the wash rack since it was pretty stormy out. I put the hay cart in front of them and put their water buckets in it for them anyhow so they were at least occupied lol.
Anyway, it took about 2 hours to do all three stalls and I went out to go take care of the pasture since the rain had let up a little bit but hadn't stopped. Good thing I had a rain coat. Get that done, get back in the barn and Don asks me if I had brought anything for lunch. Usually I do but I hadn't had time to grab anything today so I said nah and that I was alright, I'll just take a couple minutes to dry off and have a drink. He says alright and that he'll be back in 5, just running into the house to take care of something. I'm sitting on the bench in the barn just scrolling through my phone and Don waltzes back in with this plate with a little sandwich and some chips on it saying he made me a quick lunch. Complete with a little cup of some cold sweet tea.
Thanked him profusely but said he honestly didn't have to and he just insisted that he didn't want me working this long with nothing to eat (I still had basically another half of the day left to go)
Was a killer sandwich too.
Story #4
So being Florida in late May-early June.. it's wet. Very.. very wet. And even when it says it shouldn't rain, sometimes Florida just decides to spawn a thunderstorm out of nowhere. That happened on one of my Saturday shifts in the morning right as I was rolling out in the golf cart to go pick the front pasture. And since the forecast was saying that there wasn't gunna be any rain that day, I had left my raincoat at home.
So imagine my surprise when I start picking the pasture and all of a sudden these dark clouds roll up and start bucketing down rain XD. Now, I'm not fussy enough to go running for cover just when it's a bit of rain and honestly I kinda liked it. I had just gotten out of the barn and boy was it humid in there that morning so hey, bit of a free cool shower to wash me off, right? So I keep at my work and like 3 minutes into the sudden rainstorm I hear Liz hollering for me from the fence nearest to the house and she's waving for me to come over. So I drop the pitchfork on the back of the cart and zoom over thinking she might want me to put the car up while it's raining this hard or something and when I get to the fence and hop out she just pulls up this big black garbage bag that she cut holes in and is holding it open for me saying she made me a quick rain coat.
We laughed about not having predicted any monsoons today and Liz said she had just looked outside, saw it was absolutely pissing down rain and was like "Shit! Poor Becca!" and hurried out with her DIY rain bag.
Of course the rain stopped as quick as it started like 5 minutes later but it's the thought that counts XD
So TLDR of all these lil stories. It's pretty awesome to have a boss(es) that are so rad and really take care of ya when you're doing all this work for them.

Barn stories
Posted 7 years agoSo hey. Since I'm basically working now instead of exclusively doing commissions and stuff I figured I'd start telling some entertaining stories that happen at work and man there was one this morning.
But quick info about my job. Right now I work Wednseday and Saturday, Wednesday 12-4:30 and Saturday is 8-11 then 4-6:30. There's three horses on the property-
Quatrina the 30 year old granny
Annie the 22 year old hunter
and Mouche the 26 year old big man on campus
All of them are rescues for different reasons and at different times but I won't get into this all now. Time for this mornings shenanigans with Mr. Asshole.
So the morning routine (8-11) is to get to the barn, get their food set up (they all have grass pellets, sunflower seeds, flax seed and a bunch of supplements for their breakfast and dinner and it takes a half hour for the pellets to soak in water) get their water buckets filled up in their stalls, then bring them all in from pasture before feeding them their breakfast and moving on to everything else that's gotta be done.
Now, usually, Mouche is a dick in the morning. But he's been behaving for the last couple weeks and has been basically right at the gate or will follow me to it to be brought in. This morning, Quatrina was wanting to come in first so, no biggy, I take her in then come back for either Mouche or Annie.
Mouche was the closest so I'm about right up on him and..
THIS MOTHERFUCKER SUDDENLY DECIDES HE DOENS'T WANNA COME IN. STARTS JUMPIN AROUND LIKE AN IDIOT, KICKS OUT AND RUNS OFF FARTING. So it's like... alright fuggin fine Mouche, be an asshole, I'll just get Annie then.
EXCEPT HE THEN CONVINCES ANNIE TO START BOOKING IT TO THE OTHER END OF THE PASTURE TOO. And Im just standing there with my hands out like "fuggin really guys?" and I hear my boss, Elizabeth (wonderful woman) call to me from her porch.
"Morning Rebecca! Is he being a dick??" Like even she knows Mouche is a fukkin dickhead sometimes.
So it becomes this combined effort with the both of us to try and trick them into coming back, Elizabeth says just try and grab Annie again while she's got some food scraps but NNNOOOOOPE fukkin Annie just starts jumpin and fartin all around again running circles around me so it's like "You know what FINE YOU LITTLE SHITS." and I go and start feeding Quatrina, thinkin that yknow they'll hear the food and be like "oh hey maybe I do wanna come in."
Works on Annie.
Not Mouche. Nooooooo not this morning. Not even Elizabeth can get him in so she fukkin comes strolling back through the barn while I'm grooming Annie and just throws her hands up and says "Fine! He can get fed at 11 for all I care. Rebecca dear, just go ahead and do everything in here while he's being an asshole." so I'm like "lol, k boss, got it." and
NOT EVEN 5 MINUTES LATER. WHO DO I FUCKIN HEAR WHINNYING AT THE FENCE LIKE HE'S BEEN WAITING THERE ALL ETERNITY.
FUCKING MOUCHE.
Me and Elizabeth BOTH just like shout back at him "OOOHHHHH NOW you wanna come in huh?" And Elizabeth fuggin tells me to just leave him standing there for bein a dick. Naughty child needs a timeout.
like 15 minutes later she brings him in herself and this asshole is acting like he's starving and it's like fukkin WELL Mouche if you had come in when you were supposed to. Feed him, go to groom him AND HES STILL BEING A DICKHEAD. Pullin his fukkin feet away from me, smacking me with his tail. Real pleased with himself. Like MOTHERFUCKER. Dont pull this shit with me I will spank your 1500 lb ass. TRY ME.
TLDR: Horses are majestic, asshole toddlers. Especially Mouche in the morning.

Update. Sorry for dropping off.
Posted 7 years agoHey everyone! Bit of an update on life and a quick apology for dropping off the face of the earth.
The hubby and I went on vacation and basically immediately after coming back I started a balls to the wall job search since we wanna be out of the apartment and moving into a proper house by the time our lease is up and unfortunately, art isn't exactly a stable source of income. I landed a part-time job at a barn nearby so it's had me pretty busy/tired since starting and I haven't been thinking about checking in here.
Which brings me to another lil tidbit I wanna bring up. I'm basically gunna be all but stopping commissions. I've been struggling with motivation for it for a long while and I thought giving myself a fresh start from my old account would be the boost that I needed but I guess I'm just burnt out on making it almost entirely about profit and I really want to, NEED to, take the time to just enjoy what I do again.
I'll still be up for occasional trades with mutuals and maybe once in a blue moon I'll do a YCH or an adopt.
I appreciate the understanding!

New inked fur
Posted 8 years agohey y'all really sorry for being so quiet for a bit here. My schedule has been so jacked and work has been hard to focus on. I'm slowly getting around to things but there's something I wanna announce!
I've made a new account/store on the new Inkedfur site. There's currently one print up for grabs. I wouldn't mind focusing a little more on 'printable' pieces for you guys but first thing's first, gotta get through what I gotta do.

schedule is a little off
Posted 8 years agoSorry guys! my work schedule is a bit wonky right now. Aussie and I just recently adopted a new dog so I'm currently in 24/7 mom mode just making sure everyone's adjusting alright, correcting little things that pop up (nothing too serious!) and getting the new borfer Brook into a routine.
If I've missed any emails, gimme a little bit to get around to those (apologies in advance!) as I still have a bit of cleaning to do around the apartment first.
Little bit about the new doggo!
Her name's Brooklyn and she's a 1yr 3mo old boxer/mastiff. We kind of were just at a mac n cheese festival aannddd there was a humane society tent annddd she was for adoption and we just fell in love with her. Shes very sweet, a big meatball full a love! Her and Bean have been getting on great for such a sudden introduction. Bean is still a little jealous at times, especially when it comes to bed time, but I'm very proud of the both of them for how good they're being overall! They've even started wrestling with each other.
Anyways that's a quick little pupdate and info on where I've been! Again, sorry about zooming off without a word!

Scam? Update/resolution?
Posted 8 years agoResolution is a shaky word as they won't stop pestering me now for putting up a basic artist beware journal on them regarding their actions. (it's staying up)
But, the issue was handled. I wouldn't quite call it a scam since, while definitely intentional, this person appears to be incredibly young, very easily underage so they were likely messing around with funds that weren't theirs to mess around with.
Lesson learned on my end? Wait for the payment.
In better news, the snail will be back on the market, haha.

Anyone had this issue?
Posted 8 years agoThis is pertaining to the fishbowl snail that I just auctioned. (Which may be back up, keep reading.)
Had someone autobuy it on DA.
Sent me a screenshot of the confirmation that it sent through paypal so naturally, I sent them the design.
Except the payment hasn't found it's way into my account yet and it's been an hour as of now.
What I'm suspecting is that they sent the payment, took a screenshot, then quickly cancelled the transaction.
I'm currently requesting proof that the transaction is in their history but have yet to hear anything.
I don't want to automatically assume the worst but it is odd that it would be taking this long so I want to know if anyone has had to wait an unusual amount of time for a PayPal payment to come in.
Update: Now they're calling me a scammer, lol

Movie recommendation!
Posted 8 years agoMorning y'all!
Gunna be getting to work here soon but wanted to recommend a movie the hubby and me saw this weekend.
It.
A+++ good shit 10/10
Won't spoil anything but I feel like they did an amazing job with the remake. Stuck to the framework of the original while still shaking it up enough to make it fresh. Also the balance between action, horror, suspense and even sprinklings of comedy was spot on, at least in my opinion.

Hurricane Update- Aftermath
Posted 8 years agoOkay so there's really not much aftermath to speak of thankfully.
Lot of flooding out back, lot of downed trees, some areas without power it seems but our complex still has electric, water and no damage to it at all.
Work's gunna be a little slow while I finish cleaning up from thekiller hurricane party hurricane prep that we did.
Now to just wait and see what Jose does.

Sorry for the delay in work. Hurricane prep.

Back online!
Posted 8 years agoWell a total restart of my system did the trick. Not sure what the problem even was in the first place but hey! It's fixed!
Back to work I go lol

Commissions paused..
Posted 8 years agoSo all of a sudden this morning adobe just decides to say "F you." and just go full retard.
I've been trying to figure out how to fix it. I've uninstalled everything, after cleaning with cc cleaner. Fresh downloads won't even work, I keep getting error code 50.
So until I somehow figure out how to fix this, it fixes itself or I inevitably just wipe my whole system as a last resort. Work is paused.
Side note, if anyone has any suggestions about fixing this, please tell. I'm not quick to jump to completely resetting my system.

Sketch commissions open
Posted 8 years agoA pupper needs your help guys.
Posted 8 years agoAn old client and good pal of mine has a puppy that's undergone some pretty intensive surgery and the bill is looking mighty hefty.

More info if you follow the link.
She's set up a GoFundMe to hopefully help cover the vet costs.
Any little bit would help guys. Donate what you can, spread the word and pray for a speedy and full recovery for her pup.

Posted 8 years agoI'm officially 24.
Woo me.

Keep an eye out for sketches
Posted 8 years agoSorry about the silence over the last couple days. My husband had surgery on his hand to fix the tendon he cut during a work accident and we've been dealing with that and all the worker's comp stuff along with it.
Since he's going to be off work for at least 6 weeks and compensated bi weekly for his lost wages. I'm gunna start taking on some sketch orders to help pad our funds. I'll be working on a couple examples after I finish a trade that's been due and I'll put out an ad for them once they're ready.
