Anyway, you don't want to hear my feeble excuses! The winner of the contest is....

Opinions on scalies?
Posted 9 years agoJust curious now because
Kabier really has gotten me suddenly inspired to draw Kobolds... I have some ideas and kobolds of course are scalies, very small scalies lol.
Like a kobold war party who has captured an "unlucky" wolf and has their way with him :P.

First talk about gaming:
Posted 9 years ago***Disclaimer:***
Please excuse any sort of rambling, possible poor grammar ect in this post. I'm just a tad loopy tonight as I'm on some pain killers while waiting on authorization from my dental insurance to get a root canal. I very well might be loopy for a few days/weeks.
So, I have long been trying to figure out what to journal about. I don't want to touch politics because people can get butthurt and really I didn't want my art to be associated with any sort of political thought or agenda. I didn't want people reading my comics (which I genuinely am writing better stories for, stories with actual three dimensional characters and actual character development not just "hey I got a penis" "I got a penis too! Lets fuck!") to be constantly distracted by how they perceive me through some political talk. And neither do I want people to just think I'm some stiff necked snob because I often write about my iron sort of attitude with my art ect.
Yet, I really do want to interact with my fans. This leaves to safe areas I think, the world of firearms/engineering (which I could go on and on about) or video games. So lets talk video games folks! :). If you would like me as a professionally trained gunsmith, former USMC armorer and current mechanical engineering student to talk about firearms in the future just tell me so in the comments! :).
So, Just Cause 3! I recently got this for my brand spanking new PS4 (which I could probably make another journal comparing that nice product to the xbox one ) and I realize while typing this that its almost impossible to actually really discuss Just Cause 3 in depth without actually talking about Just Cause 2. Basically both games (I never played the original) have the same premise. You are a crazy madman unleashed on an island hell bent on taking down some dictator (whom strangely actually seems to be dramatically improving the quality of life for the locals) by completing some missions and burning down every scrap of infrastructure you can find. To do this you have the unique super power of shitting an infinite number of parachutes, which you combine with a grappling hook system to help travel around the epic scale of the game (whose size is only matched by TES 2: Daggerfall which actually needed its fast travel system unlike Oblivion and Skyrim which shamefully removed the mark and recall spells.)
Looking at all this I had the inevitable question: Is the third game better than the second? They did away with purchasing equipment (which was so expensive you'd be a lunatic to do so) but also depressingly did away with equipment upgrades. So you can no longer through a great deal of effort upgrade your grenades to mini nukes and cackle with glee at the results. Instead they give you a series of dubious use generic upgrades. Ultimately I found only perhaps four upgrades were worth any bother. Which brings me to the single greatest improvement. They have rethought quite how the whole parachute grappling hook combo in and gave you a wingsuit (instead of hoping the game will contextually make you go into a sort of wingsuit mode like the first one.) This change allows you to while in wingsuit flight mode to use the grappling hook to boost your speed instead of stapling your face to a wall. Suddenly the sort of clunky flying around has become a pleasurable flight through the land with you the hero continually shifting between modes of travel to adapt to corners and new situations.
But there is one area where the game is decidedly a failure. Both games are absolutely epic in size, and I can remember with the first game looking at all the free play destruction targets, items to find ect and going "well I'm never going to actually manage to do all that...." The problem with the new game is that they have kept all that, but instead of completing missions for control of regions and liberating the people that way you instead are forced to do those freeplay targets. Literally, in order to beat the game you have to do the grind fest "blow everything up in one town after another. You must get EVERYTHING." Shoot mechanics are improved, the basic movement mechanics are greatly improved but everything is utterly ruined by the reality that the game more or less demands that you 100% complete it or not at all. Unless you are a die hard completion I do not recommend buying Just Cause 3 which is a shame because the previous one was so fun and this one simply kills itself by being tedious...

You might be wondering
Posted 9 years agoSome of you out there might be wobdering (especially with a new release I have planned this week) why my non comic art pages have had a shifting facial structure lately. Well the short obvious answer is that ***I*** am not satisfied with them yet. This ol war horse has dreams of grandeur and I really don't want to be the guy who shovels out the same ol stuff with no improvement. I have realized quite a while ago while meditating on my art that my greatest failing is lacking mesmerizing and highly expressive facial structures. So I am systematically playing with them to improve this. I want my foundation as a style to remain but I need a better cranial structure for eyes.as you have seen I also am trying to improve color and shadow technique as well as effects.
"Why aren't you doing this in your comic?" Well because this comic is meant to be consistent. My first comic was litterally done so I always had something to draw to keep practicing and master fundamentals. This one is supposed to be a uniform and consistent piece, which is another form of practice, especially as my true style keeps evolving.
There are other artists who have long since reached where they want to be and function by making an attractive and consistent "product." I just haven't gotten there yet and many weeks I honestly spend thirty hours trying to get there. This growth focus is why I welcome critisism of my art work. I won't lie to you, it can genuinely bother me on an emotional level. Someone made a comment about shin length that really bothered me, but the fact that it bothered me made me pay the hell attention and learn. It can be hard to deal with but it's even harder growing if you don't know that something is wrong. Anyway thanks for listening folks. I'll be seeing you around, this art "work week" is about to start for me so stay tuned!

My Cat and Boyfriend are the Bane of Productivity
Posted 9 years agoIt happens every time. I sit down, pick up the stylus and get drawing. *poke*, I look down and see my 17 pound cat of pure muscle and concentrated evil staring up at me,his tail twitching as he plots. I go back to drawing after petting Colonel Mustard on the head. *Nom!* he nibbles on my arm before dashing off. He only seems to do it when I'm working, his plotting to never allow me to get anything done.... One time I put a chair next to mine wondering if he simply wanted to be with me. He climbed up, lay there for half an hour before using his new vantage to claw at me to create a chair to chair battle. It never fails, that evil plotting thing always starting shit. At this very moment he is laying at my feet, just waiting for me to start work again!
My boyfriend of course ruins productivity in other ways... No, I wish it were what you are thinking now but its not because he keeps dragging me into the bedroom lol. Yesterday he convinced me to get a new PS4, Watchdogs and Star Wars:Battlefront. "You never treat yourself" (which is generally quite true) was his excuse. Needless to say, aside from dealing with the forced installation of new windows from the apartment complex, running around town and a new playstation I got fuck all done till 8-9pm...
Well anyway, just sorta venting about the funny aspects of life challenging me. I'm rolling right along today and getting various projects done including this week's comic page (if not a second one.)Fighting with UPS
Posted 9 years agoSo.... In a previous journal I mentioned that my computer didn't have the horsepower to stream my drawing AND allow me to draw in very high definition AND use my lazy nezumi tool for brush strokes. Lol, people were surprised actually at what games I managed to run (yes even fallout, though stuttery downtown.) So I decided to fix the problem. I already had a good vid car but what i needed was more ram and a better CPU. Order the whole kit as a new computer online (that way I get new case, hard disks ect, old disks were giving fits.) I then paid $67 to have it NOW.
That's when UPS intervened. Sure they flew the package right out from Kentucky and got it to Colorado by early morning. However, if you've paid a lot of money to get a package now know that UPS' attitude is "Fuck you." You don't get priority in the delivery queue, which means because of my location in the metro area i'm last on the fucking delivery list DESPITE paying for literally the most expensive shipping available. Not making that mistake again, why pay extra only to realize that you still will get served after everyone else?(course not that I'm gonna use UPS ever again.) Well UPS has a window of like 7am to 7pm to deliver, and low and behold as it gets to 6;45 suddenly magically on the shipping status "incorrect address, cannot deliver" pops up. I saw exactly what happened right away.
Fast forward an hour and a half and I'm picking up my package at their warehouse (only 20 minutes away, the package got to that warehouse at 5 am from Kentucky and they mean to tell me that for $67 in shipping they couldn't have gotten my package to me by 7 am? Really?) and checking the shipping label. Its exactly as I thought. The package label is completely correct, the UPS driver literally was out of time, didn't want to get in trouble for not delivering a priority package and lied that the address was wrong. At that point the only reason why I got my computer "next day" was that ***I*** picked it up. So yeah, UPS cheated me and wasted an entire day that I could have been productively drawing.
I don't know if I'm gonna get a second page of the comic out this week because of this folks. If you see a UPS delivery guy today then you can spit on him as a thank you for that(No, don't actually spit on UPS delivery guys lol.) Ok I admit it!
Posted 9 years agoI'm officially admitting it to myself here and now, I like kids movies more then most adult movies! Why is that? Well, adult movies don't seem to have any message, purpose or meaning. Every single story focused on kids has a meaning, it has a message!
Take deadpool. Enjoyable movie, certainly don't regret watching it. However the message essentially can be summed up as "dicks can save the world too!" Pretty lame message. Really I find when looking at it, most adult focused movies don't have any meaning, they are simply a ride to enjoy but not to savor for hours after.
I have on more then one occasion debated meanings found in "Kung Fu Panda" with my boyfriend. We agree that he was destined to be great because no matter how high he rose he still brought a sense of fun to his discipline and marveled at the accomplishments of others just like Ugwei or Yoda for that matter lol. But is there any debate to be had after watching Iron Man? Don't get me wrong, its a good series but there really isn't much substance to it....
Is it so wrong to ask for meaning in a film or a book?Face Slapping Drawing Fails
Posted 9 years agoHas anyone drawn someone using their hand to grab something in an odd position only to realize that you have drawn the left hand instead of the right? Only me? Ok ;(. lol.
That illustrates why its important to just sit and stare at one's art demanding that it tell you its wrongness! lol.

Its been crazy getting here, looking forward to more.
Posted 10 years agoWell, Bottoms Make the Best Tops will have its final page released this Friday. Thirty eight pages is a hell of a run for a comic!
Over the course of those 38 pages I really have learned and grown. Starting out color was by far my greatest weakness as an
artist, but now I have a slew of color and shading techniques under my belt. Every craftsman needs to drive themselves to improve
and I believe I have accomplished that here.
I am actually quite a workaholic. I get horrifyingly bored just playing games and such all the time, I must be creating something.
As such you should expect the first release of my next comic on Saturday! That's right folks, just ending and already on to a new story!
No I'm not going to tell you which comic I chose to do next till Saturday. Its a surprise :).
A note: I have tried streaming in the past but understand that I will not be doing that in the foreseeable future. My computer just doesn't seem to have quite enough oompf to both stream the service and allow me to work smoothly in high resolution on a picture. I know what your thinking, "Well buy a new computer dude." Well, I'll be honest with you here, that money is gone. I spent it on a brand new pistol :P.
I still am not taking any commissions. I am beginning the process of structuring a terms of service, a business plan, work hours, business code of ethics and so on around that whole issue. Suffice to say that commissions will NOT be offered until I am satisfied that I can provide the most professional product as well as professional service to go with said product. Call me anal retentive or what have you but I'm certain that anyone who wants to pay for art will be MUCH happier getting exactly what they expect exactly on time.
Anyway I think that's about everything. I mostly wanted to post this and chat with my fans out there because I really am excited about having
reached this milestone. :).

Upcoming plans
Posted 10 years agoSo as I get closer to the end of bottoms make the best tops I have been working on additional comic ideas long and short. I'm going to post my future projects here (not nessisarily in the order they will be made) so i can receive community input.
-The Team: lurking out there is a duo that few would expect. They stalk the night searching for their prety, men. Sasha (female) and Alex(male) work together so that no man gay or straight will escape their bedroom. Little does he realize it but isaac is going to get ensnared by the duo and experience sex with a woman for the first time in a MMF threesome.
-the Cabin: during some cross country skiing isaac breaks his leg only to be rescued by a great wolf whom splints his leg and provides him shelter. Trapped in the cabin isaac quickly learns that the wolf simply is going to take his reward from the horse sexually. Features hot male dom action including goodol resyraints, edging, denial, breath play and more.
-Dreams of Pink: Tyson is a mighty stallion whom all the mares swoon over but he has a secret. He wishes that he were a slim cute pony instead. Then one day a passing gyspy sees into his soul and gives him a magic corset to live his dream so long as he wears it. The magic fuzes with his flesh making him soft feminine and cute with the corset itself becoming part of his new body so only he knows that he is wearing it. Now all the stallions pine for him and he suddenly learns he may be attracting more male attention than he can handle.... And what will the gypsy extract in payment when she returns?

Development and imrpovement
Posted 10 years agotoday I've been working on the 22nd page of Bottoms Make the Best Tops, planning additional comics, discussing with a few character owners about the possibility of drawing their character and generally just plain working hard on my art, this all has me thinking.
Once upon a time I was a US Marine and I worked in the armory. I was (and still am0 interested in gunsmithing, I wanted to design new pieces ect. So for years I dedicated myself to learning one new thing about firearms, no matter how trivial. Why right or left twist rifling? Handling heat, is having more metal better than having thin metal with lots of surface area to mass? ect. Now since I started my FA account I have put the same level of dedication into developing my skill with visual art. What is cute? How do people identify rough and hunky? What makes a piece pop? What makes it glow? As time has gone on my fans will have undoubtedly noticed continual growth and tweaking in my choices particularly of my finishing of art. These are of course in response to artistic qualities I appreciate in other artists, such as Red Rusker's shading techniques or how Tokifuji somehow manages his pieces seem light, warm and full of life. For those who just thought "your just copying others!" My response is that in every art a student first begins by imitating the master, and because I'm imitating several "masters", processing them in my own mind and applying them in my own way my art style though drawing inspiration from others(as ALL artists do) it ultimately is my own style.
Now this brings to a question for my growing fan base. I'm at an impasse in my artwork. On one hand I have the option to use thin careful lines for my artwork, like Tokifuji as one example. Here is a sample of a comic page with such a style:
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/17666513/
Now that piece does still have thicker lines than Tokifuji normally employs but its an example of a thinner line style. Then more recently I have grown to like the thick art styles. Here is a sample of a comic page I have done with such a style:
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/17823021/
So the question is, which is more visually pleasing? As my fans I would love input concerning this, focus on the characters and just ask yourself if you find the characters more enjoyable to look at with thick lines or thin lines.

Posted 10 years agoThis week my husband's mother is visiting and I really haven't been able to get any substantial work done on the comic. Production should return to normal next week :).
