Despite the hiccups, it's finally online! Stream the EP online for free, and pay what you want for a digital copy of the EP in whatever format you choose--and if you pay at least $5, you'll have the option to get a physical copy of the EP in CD format! The CDs are hand-made and home-burned, individually numbered, and are limited to just 32 copies--and we've already sold a couple, so go go go~
Alternatively you can download it for free as mp3s at 128kbps, but the paid versions have a little something extra you won't find in the free version, if higher quality audio isn't incentive enough for you!
But yeah. It was certainly a journey getting this far. Some of you may remember that this was slated to come out over a year ago. It feels really good finally putting it out--this is the first CD I've ever made and after playing music for nearly all of my life, it's definitely a feeling, haha. I'm really proud and happy and I really hope you guys enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed making it for you. <3
Listen to and get it here--if you like guitar rock I think you'll enjoy it:

GREEN EYES ZONE - Bad Future
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/8637461/
http://huepow00.bandcamp.com/album/.....one-bad-future
- Comes with 3 BONUS Tracks + Old Artwork & Comic from 2002 -
Several years in the making - The first of what someday will be a 2-part Compilation Album of SEGA & Sonic the Hedgehog Remix's.
One a side note, I wanted to apologize for my absence. I had internet issues for almost a month, including the loss of all my passwords. If my main account's password was pretty easy to remember, that space alien code that secure this group is impossible to remember, unless you know the first 100 decimals of pi.
Problem fixed ! I can now manage the group again !
Thanks for your patience !

Posted 13 years agoWell, I think I will accord more place to composers promotion from now. This account need to live !
So, Jack Chandler has two albums to propose. Why don't you check his journal to check it out?
Don't be shy, it's free !
Spotlighting
Posted 13 years agoWait, but it has been made before !
furrymusicians does this every week !
Yeah. I know.
But what I propose now is not a composition contest so you'll have a link to your work on a journal.
I propose to put your icon on the top of our page, and on the bottom of every journal a whole month long !
Why? Because music is not what people are mainly looking for ( you all know what I mean...) and sadly, many talented composers have few visits. It can be really frustrating to spend many time on a music just so one or two people say they find this "interessing", then leaving your page forever.
To avoid massive icon flood on the page, I propose this spotlight only to people with either
- faves/submissions ratio inferior to 5
- pageviews per year inferior to 1000
- registration date posterior to January 2011
Drop me a note with "Spotlighting" as subject as well as a simple "linkYourName" (replace " by : ) and the categories that gives you access to the spotlight.
Remember ! This is for composers. Artists with mostly graphic art, or mostly covers will be ignored (not with joy, but this spotlight is for promoting original artwork)
Let's flood composers notebox ! \o/

Thoughts About the Industry of Movie Music, by Juniper S.
Posted 13 years agoAnd now, a message from one of our kind composers :
It has been a long time since I stopped and listened to movie music. I had become so focused on concert music as it is my career path. Most people might not know, but it was movie music that made me want to be a composer, and the original career path I was going to seek out was to be a movie composer. I will get into why I stopped seeking that path later in this journal.
What I was listening to in terms of music were older movie soundtracks. I had forgotten just how amazing they were. Back in the day, these composers really knew how to work the orchestra and showed their absolute potential when creating a movie score. It seems that in the recent age, the original art form is dying away and the creativity dwindling. The new age of movie music seems to be this Hans Zimmer style of epic score (and speaking of which there are a number of crappy epic movies coming out all the time lately). The Hans Zimmer style when it first came out was very interesting, and I loved it just as much as the next person, but it feels like it has worn out its stay in the industry. I am just about ready for the next thing which might never come. Even composers I formally really liked such as James Horner have been abandoning their older styles to assimilate into this "epic" style that I just don't care for. There isn't that color and creativity that composers used to have; and I will demonstrate below. Nowadays it seems like everything has strings with this massive reverb and put through so many filters to a point where I feel like the organic sound is gone. The same with a lot of "dramatic" piano music. It is put through heavy echo and other effects which to me make it loose its organic feeling. In the old days none of that existed and composers had to find their way around the orchestra to create the effects they wanted. Now, all these effects and reverbs, there is nothing wrong with them, they do sound good, that is why they are used. What I mean to say is that now everyone uses them and I feel like they do not sound new or fresh anymore. Anyway, below I have linked a few soundtracks I think are noteworthy, that are timeless, organic, and colorful.
Please listen to these soundtracks. They are some of my favorites and perfectly illustrate what I mean about color and creativity, not to mention expression.
The Wind and the Lion (1975):
I would say The Wind and the Lion still is my favorite movie score, and Jerry Goldsmith still my favorite movie composer.
The Secret of NIMH (1982):
I am sure a lot here have seen this movie, but I wonder how many have taken time to listen to the score. It is just very expressive and is definitely to me the best soundtrack to any animated movie. This is again by Jerry Goldsmith
On the Waterfront (1954):
I never actually saw this movie, but I heard the score to this on the radio one day and loved it from beginning to end. No one writes like this anymore in the movie world. Leonard Bernstein, while best known as a conductor, was also a great composer.
Ben Hur (1959):
Another very colorful score. What I like about this is the way the strings are used to what I feel is more their potential, which nowadays is rarely seen. Score composed by Miklos Rozsa
Vertigo (1958):
This list wouldn't be complete without Bernard Herrmann. I am sometimes amazed at how many people have not heard his name.
Now earlier in this journal I had said I had quit the movie music business and now I will explain why. The main reason is because of the way the modern industry works. People do not realize what a small portion of the work the creative process is, and how much of it is actually sucking up to people while you get little to nothing for a lot of work. Believe it or not, movie/media music does NOT pay well unless you are on the A list, which is difficult to begin with. You can spend many months working on a score for someone's movie and only get maybe $5,000-$7,000 and then you need to find your next job. In some cases, you need to do free work just to get noticed, and even then it might not happen. In the beginning you might have to sit and work with another composer as his assistant. This means you might actually have to write some of the music for him, and you do not get any credit for it, the main composers gets it. Other times when you are working on a movie, you have to suck up to producers and directors. This sometimes goes as far as doing their laundry, getting them their food, coffee, you name it. You get treated like absolute crap. I very briefly worked with a composer on a TV show he was working on (I will not say which one). It was an internship of sorts. He gets paid about $15k a year and he has to compose all day, everyday, for every new episode that comes out. It does not allow him any creative process and often times he ends up having to send crap which sometimes is only sent back to him to redo. Writing it is just one part, then he has to record, and use his resources properly because his budget is very limited. I can make almost double that on the current career path I am in with half the work I would have to do. A lot of people do not realize what the reality is for movie music nowadays which was not necessarily the case in the older days.
See, unless someone has a rich mom and dad who can pay the remainder of the expenses while they try and make it to the A list, there is no realistic way to make a living if you start from the bottom. I could never work around not having the best equipment as directors will always choose the people with the best samples and not necessarily the best composers, so for those of lowish-income or even some middle-income people, getting into the industry is hard because of costs. Movie/Television composers are non-unionized, and because of this, companies have continuously paid composers less and less, and as mentioned before, sometimes not at all, under the pretense that they will get them media attention which sometimes doesn't happen. Most other jobs in the movie industry such as costume design, animation, etc on the other hand are unionized. All in all, the stress that it puts on you and the low pay is what pushed me away from the career path of movie music. Either way, they do not want my music. They want to keep hiring the same 10 guys over and over again until they die. I think maybe all of this has contributed to the downfall of good movie music in the recent era. Its great to look back at the great classic scores and adore their creativity.

karunoUpdate of AUP (acceptable audio policy)
Posted 14 years agoWell, you may have seen this, but it also applies to some audio matters. Here's a copy paste of the updated rules
Music and Audio
Users may post music/audio provided that the following criteria are met:
Audio Quality
Audio should be clear with normalized audio levels. Aggressively loud, high-pitched or distorted audio may be removed.
Content
Commercial Content - Commercial audio tracks may not be uploaded to the site unless the uploading user is the copyright holder and is the original performing artist.
Covers and Voice Overs - Cover versions of other recording artists' songs are allowed provided the instrumentation, vocals, etc. are performed/recorded by the uploader or a ensemble to which the uploader belongs. Voice overs/audio tracks are permitted provided the music portion is A) public domain or B) intended for voice over/vocal work (e.g. Karaoke mixes).
Adult Content - Uploads may not contain realistic depictions of sex or obscene audio (vomiting, bowel movements, etc.) unless it is part of a narrative or song.
Remixes - Remixes must contain significant work to distinguish themselves from the original content. "Significant work" is determined by the proximity to the original song (e.g. changing equalization/pitch or applying DJ-style effects is NOT considered "significant work"). The work must strive to create something new and original. The uploader must give due credit to the original creators of any non-original songs or samples used.
Mashups - Mashups, mixes, mixtapes, live sets, and other audio that does not contain significant editing by the user are not permitted. Mashups containing significant editing and post-production work may be deemed a "remix" at the discretion of Fur Affinity and are therefore subject to the AUP's Remixes Policy. This decision is at the sole discretion of FA and its moderators.
Samples & Soundbites - Portions of copyrighted material of any length may not be used without significant post-production editing, as determined by FA and its moderators.
Audio in Animation - Commercial audio may be used in animation provided the audio compliments the work. Animation which uses simple, basic animation/loops or slideshows may not use commercial audio in such a way.
Make sure your previous songs fit the new rules ! And also, keep composing, for the glory of Furry Music ! :-P

One of our own greatly needs our help. Sporty pup, who is a local Georgia fur needs to have surgery due to a bad valve in his heart. This particular condition is called Valvular Heart Disease, and if not treated will cause heart failure. The surgery will take $40,000 total, but needs $16,500 up front, just to be able to have the surgery. The remaining $24,000 will be billed later, so he needs to get this money soon. The longer Sporty has to wait for the surgery, the greater the risk is of heart failure. The hope is to have enough to be able to have the surgery later this month in Asheville, NC., but only if the doctor see’s that the amount needed will come in quickly after.
Sporty, is currently 30 years old, but will be 31 in March. Besides being a furry and occasional fursuiter, he is also a father of a 3 1/2 year old boy, named Koda. Sporty currently lives in Macon, Georgia.
SportySporty and friends are now asking for donations towards the surgery through paypal. Even if you’re only able to donate a couple dollars anything helps, so they ask everyone who reads this to please donate something. Friend’s are even putting items up on http://www.thedealersden.com and http://www.furbuy.com to help raise money. Sporty is a really awesome guy, and really needs our help to make this happen. You can make a donation too, through the paypal link below.
Even with all the drama that goes on in this fandom, I have also seen this fandom do a lot of good, and really come together when one of our own needs help, and I would hope this no exception.

Sorry composers have been so long to react, and thanks to
joehero for letting us know.
After the painful departure of
randomonlooker, we would hate to miss one more fur.
We all pray for him. Being furry is being a part of a big family, no matter the distance, the frontiers, the nationality. For Koda, and Sporty's wife,
UNITE!
On a lighter note, Dancing Furries has realeased an album on bandcamp. Listen to it HERE

karuno[COMPOSERS] November, etc
Posted 15 years agoFirstly, let's have a peek at what our composers have been producing in the last month!
October Changes by Deus Ex
A technically challenging guitar piece used to symbolise the changing of the seasons, somehow lyrical in it's lullaby.
Demon Of The Pipes by Roaring Lion
A Hallowe'en themed piece consisting of a haunting melody on the pipe organ. Melodic and flowing with a variety of techniques to stir up the spookies.
The Taking by Ultramarine
An impressive swirling and thumping trance piece with rolling acid basses and tapalong, exploratory beats.
Piano Sonata in F Sharp Major by MatthiasRat
An opus of a piano solo with technically demanding skills and a variety of chord changes keeping the piece alive.
Anything composed in November? Share it with everyone by leaving it in a comment in this journal!
Secondly,
Kurrel The Raven has had the third installment of Furry x 60 running now for a couple of months, but at the last check had just NINE tracks. The challenge is to compose a piece of music lasting just 60 seconds - it can be any genre, containing anything, but it has to be 60 seconds long. Submissions will close on November 26th! Find out all the information from Kurrel's journal HERE.
Finally, on a personal note, I'm afraid this will be the last journal written by me (Equium) - I have to step down from my role in the Composers group as I simply have run out of time to maintain it. Sad news indeed. I need a replacement, obviously, so if you think you've got the time and ability to write a journal every month for the group, keep on top of the Composers list, keep on top of monthly submissions, and keep musical enthusiasm at a high, send us a Note in the next couple of weeks right HERE.
Sorry I have to head off - I'll keep taking part in this wonderful group though. Thanks everyone for helping this group grow and grow! It's been a good year and a bit. Stay in touch! ^.^

[COMPOSERS] October, etc
Posted 15 years agoOctober is here already. Goodness me, where has the year gone? No reported album news this month so let's crack on:
----
We want to showcase some of the best tracks from our budding composers, and last month we tried to get you to submit your tunes - we've got a few below, but we need more submissions! We need more responses this month, there's so much talent out there, and so much to show off! Here's the pick of the bunch:
JackChandler - View From A Park Bench - 11:14pm - An ambient trance number, representing the 11th hour of his 12-track EP, each track symbolising an hour of the day. This swirling synthy piece does visualise the dead of night very well.
Vasory88 - Max Don't Have Sex With Your Ex - A cover version of E-Rotic's techno piece, this awesome instrumental version smashes the original melodies and techno styles with hard metal guitars and riffs to create a stomping anthem.
Dabs - Legend Of The Dragon - In Hallowe'en month, comes a haunting, shivering classical piece. Largely centering around the string section, this orchestral epic dances from melody to melody throwing all instrumentation into the mix.
This month - post all your new submissions (from Oct 1 - Oct 31) in the reply to this journal, so they don't vanish anywhere after a week or so! Can't wait to hear what you're coming up with!
----
For 2011, we're thinking of setting up "Challenges". Ie, in January's journal we'd say "Your theme this month is: Winter" or whatever, and you'd fiddle away and come up with a piece that represents the theme, and the best ones get shown off in the journal. What are your thoughts on this? Does this sound like a good idea or too much work?
----
Finally, a sad new for Malcom the Bear: he has to sell his keyboard. More info on his journal, please check it!
Finally - yes, it's the October musical birthdays!
October 1 - Paul Dukas
October 2 - Sting
October 3 - Stevie Ray Vaughan
October 4 - Chris Lowe (Pet Shop Boys)
October 5 - Steve Miller (Steve Miller Band)
October 6 - William Butler (Arcade Fire)
October 7 - Thom Yorke (Radiohead)

[COMPOSERS] September, etc. - Composers Steps Up
Posted 15 years agoWell then. Welcome to September. It's going to be a good one.
Okay, let's get going. We asked you in the last journal what could be done to make Composers a better group and you responded with one overwhelming answer: Submissions!
So then, what we've figured is this: Rather than submitting everyone's work on our page, we're going to show off the best from a variety of genres from throughout the month in each monthly journal! Simples! To get your name in, all you have to do is leave us a shout with a link to your newest piece and we'll put it forward for consideration. There is no deciding "factor" on what goes in or what goes out, but don't lose heart if you're not in! Keep on going and keep on sharing! Besides, there's every chance somebody will see your link in our shoutbox and find out about you that way! ^.^
If you get selected one month, don't expect to be picked again all too often, but we want to show off as much as we can without sending you all into overload! Only pieces of music submitted in September will be included in the next journal - the October one. I'm sure that all makes sense! So, what are you waiting for? :D
In other news, there is an album release to report! It's courtesy of
xedgewolfx who goes by the name Gears Of The Apparatus. Uploaded to Edgewolf's Bandcamp is "Discord", the latest offering, described as "Metal based Fakebit". If you can imagine a thrash metal song reduced into 8-bit dubstep electronica, you're sort of on the right lines. It's a great listen, and a rather creative one at that. The whole 13-track album is available for just $8 on the aforementioned BandCamp, available HERE.
Now, we don't often include stories here, but we thought we'd throw this one out -
Vixyyfox has written a short story, dedicated to the Composers group! "Blind Music" is a great little read, based around the noble pipe organ, and it was submitted to FA right HERE.
Semi-Finally, a big thank you to all the new entries to the ever-growing composers and musicians list, and to all our new watchers! Hope you find some wonderful new music!
Finally, just to add a nice little feature, here are some celebrity musical birthdays for this month... these people may or may not be alive.
September 1 - Engelbert Humperdink
September 2 - Michael Rother (Kraftwerk)
September 3 - Eric Bell (Thin Lizzy)
September 4 - Carmit Bachar (Pussycat Dolls)
September 5 - John Cage

[COMPOSERS] June, etc.
Posted 15 years agoWelcome to June. Because of our little delay in updates there isn't a lot on the grapevine at the moment, news-wise.
What we can say is that there are two albums from the composers group coming out this month, that we know of. If you've got one, do pop it in the inbox and we'll report it!
Corbin Busker is releasing "Thank You", an impressive new album in physical form for $20 and downloadable from his BandCamp for $12. The physical copies can be picked up if you're going to AC this year! It's just over an hour long, and consists of 12 tracks, and promises to be a sensible purchase. That is being released on June 24, and all the details can be found here: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3921912
Equium is releasing his second album, "The Absence", a hypnotic ambient album available from his BandCamp as a name-your-price album, with extra tracks available for downloads. All proceeds are going to adopting a red fox. That is being released on June 28, and all the details can be found here: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/1445546/
More info? Let us know through the ol' PM system! Enjoy the summer!

[COMPOSERS] Sorry for the delay.
Posted 15 years agoThink of it as a 2-bar rest. ^.^
Basically, we've all been a bit busier this year than last so we've had little time to maintain the Composers group, and for that we apologise. However, we're committed to getting things back on track! Have a flick through the list, and double-check to see if your name is on there and the link is working and all that jazz.
If you're not there, we apologise - message us again. If you're feeling kind, you could even pre-format your name! Submit your details thusly:
[ url=http://www.furaffinity.net/user/username]Name[/url ] (Genres) (I: What you play)
Leave the spaces in, and it'll speed the whole thing up and we can get back on level terms. The June journal will be up in a week or so (well, when June starts) so if you have any album releases, any competitions, any news you want to give us, let us know!
Thanks to everyone who is watching and taking part - once again, apologies for the delays.
