Update on the Update
General | Posted 6 years agoSo...I am at a point where I can either become infuriated and enraged beyond comprehension...oooorr I can do evil unto evil in a calm and relatively civilized manner. The situation is thus: People who are hired to do jobs at my place of employment do not want to do those jobs and, in some cases, even come in at all. The burden of some of that unfinished work goes onto me and the few other workers who do actually attempt to pull our weight. It appears this includes the GM as well (being one of the ones who does not want to pull their weight).
One of the major issues that has come up recently is I requested time off to attend a wedding. It was approved and I got it in writing. I kept the approval notice for my records (had an odd feeling I should hold on to it). The following week's schedule was posted and I got the days I requested off after Thanksgiving...except for the LAST day I requested, and then I had another two days off after that. I brought it up to GM and...her response was "Well can you come back early?" I had to keep from laughing at her. I told her that was unlikely. She then said "Well that's going to mess up everyone else's off days and I don't want to work open to close." I responded with "Okay well, I put the request in in writing, as you asked, and you signed it." She then said "Well I didn't see you had requested that day off, just the other days." That last part was strange because the way the little form was structured, it was difficult to miss the days I requested.
Either way, her lack of concern, dismissal, etc. is not my concern. She signed it, period. That is not the end of it, however. I had made it clear I was not only leaving town, but leaving the state as well. I received a text message JUST BEFORE THE EVENT asking if I could come in and work that day. I literally lol'd and had to show people why I was laughing and explain...others joined in my laughter. I didn't even respond to the stupid cunt. So where I'm at right now is...she ignored one of my requested days, gave me a bullshit, selfish reason for why she still expects me to come in and work anyways (even though she has me off the two days after!). The way I see it? I've got a decent vacation.

Update of Sorts
General | Posted 6 years agoI'm trying to be mindful of how negative I am here, these days. I have a pile of notifications to go through, journals and submissions mostly. I just don't have the energy to keep up on this site like I have before, though I am trying. Like I said, I'm trying not to be too negative, but I don't have much in the way of news for all of you so here's what I do have:
I am currently working on my resume and looking for a solid way out of customer service/retail. This type of work just sucks way too much energy from me, to the point where I suffer depression more often than usual (I lose energy and interest in things I usually enjoy, mostly), and it's horribly clear to me that management and upper management don't care about me or anyone else. Yes, I know this is ridiculously stupid to be surprised about, rest assured I am not surprised and I wasn't expecting it, just I've tried and there's only so long you can push through in this kind of crap before you just can't anymore.
Now what's going to be coming up in the coming year? I intend to get a job that I can at least tolerate (I'm getting to a point where I can't tolerate the kind of work I currently do AT ALL). In spite of my difficulties, I am making good strides in my goals otherwise, so I think I'll be able to accomplish this one! It's also going to mean some major changes for me, like moving again and having more bills and shit. But, you know...I mean it can get worse than how I have it now, but it can also be better. I won't know until I try.

I don't know the word for this
General | Posted 6 years agoThe closest I can think of is "underwhelmed", but it's not quite "upset" or even "disappointed". For context, I suspected that there was a good deal of apathy about the willingness to work from some employees, particularly apathy from the management, and I had to force their hand on something, they made a choice and now I'm like "Oh well, okay then." I mean why give 100% or even 80%, when everyone else quarter-asses their way through everything, right? As long as nobody gets grouchy, god forbid that happens.
That Time of the Year Again
General | Posted 6 years agoIt's the most wonderful time of the year!
Spooks spooked, goblins gobbled, UFOs KO-ed, aliens alienated, and monsters remonstrated!
With this particular time comes the usual fare with scary movies and such. Obviously the classics are a must (meaning the Universal monster classics and the other associated with Halloween like "The Exorcist"), but I also love finding some that have flown under the radar and horror has quite a lot of those. I'll give three recommendations in this journal and will try to post another with more, but these are movies I've seen fairly recently and that stand out in my mind.
First up: Hereditary (2018). Alright, look I can't describe this movie any better or convince anyone to see it any more than the trailer. If this doesn't intrigue you, then it may not be for you. https://youtu.be/V6wWKNij_1M
Next we have The Ritual. This movie follows a group of friend from the UK, after a tragedy has left one of their group dead and another member of the group suffering from deep guilt over the incident. In remembrance of their friend, they take a trip and go backpacking through a forest in Scandinavia. However, after getting the bright idea to take a shortcut (obvious stupid idea is, admittedly, obvious), strange things begin to happen and it seems that someone is taunting and messing with the group.
Finally, this one I just saw a few days ago and it's been one of the most impacting horror movies I've ever seen. It legitimately terrified me at points, but also provoked other emotions, including quite a bit of sadness. This movie, called "Lake Mungo" is a mockumentary type movie. It follows a family (father, mother, and son) following the tragic death of Alice, their daughter and sister, respectively. Friends and classmates are also interviewed and as the film goes on, images of what seems to be Alice's ghost start appearing in photos and video that the son is taking. As the family investigates further, even strangers things start to turn up...including that Alice had some secrets that seemed to burden her quite a lot.
The last movie can get especially difficult to watch because it provokes a lot of questions and speculation about what happens after we die, and I don't mean the obvious "is there an afterlife?" kind of questions, but rather whether or not our loved ones' understanding of us change, if they might learn things about us that we intended to keep hidden, how our passing will affect them, and, on the flipside, will the people we lose know how much we care for them when death takes them? What makes Lake Mungo rather, well...haunting is that it asks the questions but leaves the answers up in the air, implying that although some of the family is able to move on, others (perhaps even Alice herself) are still unable to do so.

Saw Joker (Possible Minor Spoilers)
General | Posted 6 years agoA quick, repeated warning, this may have some spoilers so read at your own risk.
As the mass media feared, I am now incurably insane and have an uncontrollable urge to murder people. Actually, no...no that's just because I work in customer service. Apparently if that doesn't happen to you, that's when people start getting worried.
Anyway, jokes aside, I thought it was a pretty good movie. Is it going to appeal to everyone? Of course not. What about the controversies surrounding this movie? Well, I don't think it's bad to explore and speculate on villains before they became these maniacal forces of evil or whatever, or even attempt to make them sympathetic...within reason. There was a lot of concern that this movie was going to make the Joker out to be a more morally ambiguous character, I guess, and justify things like mass murder. It touched an especially sore spot with family and survivors of the shooting in Aurora, CO, which is understandable.
Does this movie make the Joker a sympathetic character? Uhmm...I would say they make the man who becomes Joker sympathetic. Also the movie asks some tough questions, exploring if maybe things like better access to counseling, services, healthcare, etc. for mentally ill people may have prevented Arthur Fleck from becoming this thing, but it doesn't bash you over the head with it. In fact it's pretty ambiguous on what the answer may be in a lot of ways, more on that in a bit.
I have seen Taxi Driver and I really like that movie, so the influence that movie had on this one is pretty clear. But I also feel like, funny enough, there are a lot of similarities to a Christian Bale movie, American Psycho. If you've seen that movie, you might be able to tell now where this movie might go. There are hints and implications that things as we have seen them, through the protagonist's perspective, are unreliable. Add to that other misleading information in-story, and there is a distinct possibility that the truth of this character's arc isn't actually that complex.
To get right down to it, by the end of the movie, I feel like the question being presented is: was the Joker (as he is shown in THIS movie) a product of apathy, or was this thing always there lurking underneath the protagonist's skin? I think it's very telling they modeled his face paint after none other than John Wayne Gacy (thankfully the nature of the crimes he commits are much less squicky), and absolutely none of the crimes he commits are really justified (a bit more to it, but not going that deep into spoiler territory). The thing about serial killers, mass murderers, etc. that is really jarring is that none of them are born with any kind of mark saying "I'm going to do horrible things when I get older", and mental illness MAY explain things, but only to a degree. When somebody makes the choice to commit murder, a line is crossed and when they do it multiple times it's not really relevant anymore if they were failed in some way because people with depression, paranoia, anxiety, schizophrenia, and whatever else don't go around killing people en masse.
I think I've had enough of being super edgy, crawling up my own ass with this analysis of the movie, you may relax now! My bottom line is I think the movie's good, it has a style to it, and it's not making excuses for anyone, fictitious characters or otherwise, who commit horrible crimes. With all that being said, if you don't like it, I don't blame you! It's not for everyone and I honestly hope they don't start making a ton of movies like this...not sure I could handle the uber gritty origin story of Gorilla Grodd.

Chernobyl Miniseries
General | Posted 6 years agoIt was just released on DVD/Blu-Ray today. I personally don't judge people who watch movies and shows through other means online, so the point I'm getting at is that you need to watch this series, however you might go about that. Some liberties were taken, of course, but...less than you may think. And this series goes into some absolutely terrifying details about the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear disaster. To put it in perspective, there was a significant risk of the disaster getting even worse and irradiating a large are of Europe. Even when other nations began to take notice, the USSR still refused to admit that anything serious had happened. The kicker? To this day Russia insists the death toll was below 100 people. While there is no way to determine an exact number, however, the U.N. has put the number of deaths resulting directly from the disaster at approximately 4,000 people.
I'll say this about the series as a warning: Episodes 3 and 4 can be very difficult to watch. 3 because you see what the victims of acute radiation poisoning go through (to put it simply, while they're still alive, they're bodies decompose). 4 because it shows a less known, but important undertaking for the Soviet government: they had to send in troops to find and put down any and all animals in the area, including pets that were left behind during the evacuation.

Sticking the Landing
General | Posted 6 years agoThrowing in my two cents about the "Rise of Skywalker" trailers. I'll say this: I have no idea at all where they're going with this one and that's pretty interesting. The only thing I can speculate on is A) this one is going to introduce interesting twists, namely involving Rey and Palpatine, or B) They are full on jumping the shark. I don't mind the latter! The trick is sticking the landing >_> Do I have any theories? I do actually...get your water skis ready!
Concerning Palpatine and his supposed survival...I'm not sure that he did actually survive physically. Does that mean Force Ghost? Nope! We know two things: first he's apparently on Endor among the ruins of the second Death Star. Second, we know that Ewoks live on Endor and they are known to cook and eat their enemies (they were going to cooks and eat Han, Chewie, and Luke, and they ate those Storm Troopers! You know they did!). The Ewoks found and ate Palpatine's remains and he possessed at least one of them through those means!
That's right, there is a Sith lord Ewok.

For the love of god...
General | Posted 6 years agoSome of you may have heard, they're doing a theatrical movie for "Cats". It looks...god awful. I'm not talking about the quality of the story and such itself, although musicals are a "love it/hate it" affair for me, I know a lot of people who love this musical. I mean the horrifying CGI monstrosities. See for yourselves!

Godzilla: King of the Monsters
General | Posted 6 years agoYesterday, I went to see the new Godzilla movie. While I will say that I did enjoy the 2014 American installment, I'm with most others in saying that it was frustrating how they kept cutting away from Godzilla just as things were getting good. That was bad enough, but the characters they cut to, for the most part, sucked. They weren't written well, had very little to no personality, and the characters who did have more personality weren't really focused on a lot.
I'm pleased to say that this sequel fixes most of those issues. When Godzilla steps into the ring, it's a fucking fight. There is some focus on rather bland human characters, but they're kind of hokey in a way that makes me think of the old Godzilla movies way back in the 70's. They didn't put a lot of effort into the writing of the human characters but, let's be honest, are you really going to these movies for human drama? The only Godzilla movies I know of where the human/non-monster characters were a real joy to watch were the last few movies in the 2000's, namely Tokyo S.O.S. and Final Wars.
I was worried that bringing in not just King Ghidorah, but also Mothra, Rodan, etc. would put too much into the movie with not enough time to get to everything they wanted, but I think they went a good way with it in making Godzilla and Ghidorah the major players, with the other monsters serving as not real considerable threats to them and instead they help them at various points, picking sides and such. All in all, this is a very fun Godzilla movie. The fights are the focus, human characters are good enough, and I like it that way. Definitely go check it out!
Oh, also stay behind after the credits for this one.

The End of the Beginning
General | Posted 6 years agoSo yeah, saw Avengers: Endgame. Won't get into spoilers so don't worry. I find it interesting though that a lot of people think this is the end of the Avengers movies (The Avengers, not the MCU). It's easy to see how people would come to that conclusion, but I don't think that's even remotely true. Disney/Marvel is not done with the Avengers, in fact that's the entire point of getting a new lineup of heroes like Ant-Man, Doctor Strange, Spider-Man, and Captain Marvel. Even though some of the original Avengers are retired, the mission continues and people are needed to follow through with that mission. I think it would be more appropriate to say that Endgame is the actual end of Phase 1...buuut I'm not the one who came up with the phase thing, so I can't really say that lol.
One of the things I found really interesting about Endgame is how they're coping with grief and carrying on after the events of Infinity War. Some are just barely managing, some are broken, and some of them have been able to continue on with life and find meaning after tragedy. That was a touch I really liked.
I look forward to seeing where this goes continuing on. There have been cinematic universes before, but the extent these movies have gone hasn't really been seen before. Given that Endgame has broken records, and is still topping the Box Office (booting JC's Avatar off its pedestal, thank christ) I don't see them stopping.

Huh, so I guess I'm doing well?

Rambling Thoughts on Current Events
General | Posted 6 years agoOkay this is actually a bit more specific and focused, but some years ago I decided to make a new character. Something a little bit different (just a little bit, I mean look at my damn gallery), so I did what I tend to do and looked on at my personal interests, went on some wiki walks, which lead to research, and I got the idea to make my character Yuri based on a new and specific breed of dog (more of a hybrid species, really) called a Sulimov Dog. This breed is distinctly Russian, but I had the idea to make him Ukrainian simply because Russian was a bit too obvious. Ukraine is right next door and although they and Russia haven't always been on the best of terms, they were still fairly close politically and such. Respectable neighbors, as far as I would have thought.
I had some fun ideas for Yuri and then real life took a rather dramatic turn when Russia invaded and annexed Crimea. Since that point I've been a little stuck in my own head with what to do with Yuri's background. I'm not letting that stop me from utilizing him, by any means, just I'm not sure if I should acknowledge this real life development in his own history, if it would be in bad taste to do so, or if it would be in bad to ignore it in his background. In other words, I keep over-thinking it.
Luckily the other things kind of putting his utilization at a stand still are more all the options in my head for what his world currently is (the fantasy world, obviously) and its part in a larger project. Actually I'll likely post a follow up journal discussing that later on.

This Will Get Interesting
General | Posted 6 years agoAlright to save time for an explanation, trailer here...oh but do yourselves a favor and stay the fuck away from the comments section on this one. Just...don't do it:
https://youtu.be/R_Ze8LjzV7Q
Yeah, allegations against Michael Jackson is a thing again. It's easy to get cynical about this sort of thing, especially when you know you have to stay skeptical, but I've heard some things about this one that are concerning and it's actually causing an impact on Jackson's estate. I am biased, he always unsettled me and hearing him talk about certain stuff just gave me the fucking willies, so putting that out there. But the alleged victims give some pretty...ugly details.
Fans and defenders of Michael Jackson have cited an extensive investigation made by the FBI into allegations of sexual abuse by Michael Jackson and came up with nothing. There's a problem with that though, which is there's a difference between not having enough evidence to convict (which means there's not enough to go to trial). Also when you have money and influence, things like counter-surveillance are very doable (which isn't as hard as you might think anyways).
I try to remain skeptical whenever accusations are brought up against anyone in the limelight, it is true that a lot of people want money or fame or something in that way, but after the allegations against Bill Cosby started coming out I came across something, I can't remember where, but I read somebody mention "This is a lot like what was discovered about Jim Saville."
I don't think a whole lot of Americans know who he is, but he was active from the 60's all the way into the 2000's and he died in either 2011 or 2012, if memory serves. I believe he was also knighted. He was famous for establishing charities, particularly aimed toward impoverished children, the disabled, and other similar people in need. During his career people did come forward with accusations of abuse, but with his influence and great reputation, he was able to make those go away pretty quickly. After he died, his victims decided to try again to reveal the truth and, to summarize, investigations were made and it was discovered his charities were a front for a sex trafficking ring. To say he was a child molester and a rapist isn't really strong enough, he found a way to exploit people for himself and others like him. He did it all under the BBC's and the British Government's nose.
That's really what I keep in mind these days and I honestly think Michael Jackson was not on the up and up. I want to see if anything can be found.

Let's Take a Detour
General | Posted 7 years agoThose of you who know me well enough know about my...random thoughts. Sometimes they're very brief and then gone, others I have a hard time letting go of and feel a need to ponder them. I have encountered the latter! That thought is: In various stories, dragons covet treasure, typically gold, silver, other precious metals, and gemstones. In today's world, paper money is heavily circulated, coins are not minted from actual precious metals (if so, only a small percentage of the coin itself hardly of any value). Add to that the introduction of cryptocurrency, I can't help but wonder...how would a covetous dragon, malicious, friendly, etc. cope in today's world? I strongly doubt they would enjoy paper money for obvious reasons (god forbid they sneezed), but do you think they'd have lairs full of high-end servers mining bitcoin?
What do y'all think?

Funeral Was Today
General | Posted 7 years agoMy Great Grandpa was laid to rest today. Because of his service history with the Army Air Corps and Air Force, he was given a ceremony with full military honors; Taps, rifles, folded flag, the works. It was a beautiful ceremony.
Aaaand Back to the Grind
General | Posted 7 years agoOkay well I'm glad I took that vacation otherwise I'd be having a full on nuclear meltdown. Yesterday morning, at fuck off o'clock, I was greeted with this bit of news "Your great grandpa died this morning...can I borrow some money?" from my mom. Mind you, I worked the previous night on a closing shift, didn't get home till about 2:30 or later that morning and didn't get to sleep until around fucking 4, so that was a pleasant way to wake up (/sarcasm).
A few words about my great grandfather:
He was a veteran of WWII, having retired a Master Sergeant a while after the war. During the war, he was a member of the Army Air Corps before joining the Air Force. I can't remember details about what kind of aircraft he flew on, but he was a meteorologist and I know they did fly-overs over Japan. He did carry sidearms during his service, just in case they were shot down or if anything else happened. He carried an M1911 and, later, a .38 revolver (not sure what kind exactly) but he did get one just like it for personal use after his service.
He was a very religious man as well, which put him at odds with family members of the younger generation (namely my cousins). His first wife, my great grandma, died in 1999 of cancer and in 2001 he remarried. Things were well with that for a while but around 2010, he fell and broke his hip and he was into his 80's by this point. He'd survived pretty much everything that had been thrown at him (he survived a heart condition and operation that docs were sure would kill him). But breaking his hip was pretty devastating as he had to start doing physical rehab, which was very slow going and, making things much worse, his wife pretty much abandoned him and that just really took it out of him and I think he stopped doing his rehab completely.
Last time I saw him was just a couple of years ago, in 2017, he was 95 years old and he had dementia. He recognized me and my brother though and we did have a good visit, though he tired quickly.
My grandma, who passed just last year, was his daughter. We had all been worrying about how to break the news to him but his dementia made it difficult to do that anyways. I see his passing as a mercy to him and everyone else, because we all know that finding out his daughter had died would have destroyed him and he likely would have given up anyways. I'm under the impression that he passed quietly and peacefully.

Returned From ANE!
General | Posted 7 years agoYeah that was a lot of fun, very laid back and not too crowded. Also met a couple of artists I follow here in person and they were both REALLY nice! Said artists being
goldendruid and
cadmiumtea Of course I bought stuff from both of them! Aside from the convention, well...Boston's got a lot to do in it so I did things...looked at historical sites, visited breweries...also went to Maine and visited a meadery there. My wallet and my liver hate me. I also did an Escape Room, compliments of "Fuzzy Logic", whom I also bought some poker chips from (not real, but with their logo, just a collectible thing)! Yeah, lots of fun all around :)

This has been a joke/pun. Thank you for your time and have a good day.

Something About RE2 Occurred to Me
General | Posted 7 years agoPlaying as Claire my first run and I'm getting chased around by this huge guy in a trench coat and a fedora...is this commentary? Or am I reading too much into it? >_>
Sorry, had to make that joke!

Woo!
General | Posted 7 years agoI'm getting excited! I'm shipping up to Boston (cue the Dropkick Murphy's) for Anthro New England later this month! Finally traveling outside of the Southwest, going to have some fun in a major historical city, and going to my first convention!
NEVER!!
General | Posted 7 years agoYeah I'm going on this rant again, but I am NEVER going to fucking get married. Like a lot of people, there are times when I feel pangs of loneliness, a need for companionship. Getting married honestly used to be a life goal for me. But over the past couple of years, I haven't even felt a huge drive to seek out anything romantic at all. I'm not opposed to the idea, obviously, but I'm sure those of you who have followed my journals the past few years understand exactly why. It's not just my brother though, but also my uncle now, and I've seen other people go through some awful divorces and split-ups.
That being said, I've seen a lot of relationships and marriages that have and are working out wonderfully. It takes constant work and it's definitely worth it, imho. But I've also seen that when it goes bad, it can get all kinds of fucking ugly that you can't even conceive. When it's over, your livelihood is completely ruined by, among other expenses, alimony, child support, court costs, and moving expenses, and that's just the separation itself. The money, time, and energy you put into the relationship from the start is something you'll never get back.
I was already a no-sell on having kids, I won't ever put anyone through something like that, but I don't think marriage is a worthwhile pursuit or investment anymore for myself. If I get with someone and they decide at some point they don't want to be with me, I don't want to jump through a ton of legal hoops and pay a shit ton of money just for a document that says what I already know. If I ever do see marriage as a worthwhile pursuit again, I'm getting a Prenuptial Agreement not just to protect myself, but to protect the spouse to be as well.

YET Another Workplace Development!
General | Posted 7 years agoOh this one's fucking hilarious (seriously)!
So we've had problems with another driver sniping good deliveries that either have higher mileage or are known to tip well. He got in trouble for it, so he decided he didn't want to stay and close on New Years Eve or the night before and went home early. This was a bridge too far for our non-confrontational GM and he decided to fire him. The cunt responded by threatening to tell corporate that everyone has been drinking and/or getting stoned on the job and doing other illegal activity and he explicitly threatened a manager who's a military reservist, apparently by sending him a text message with a screen shot of contact information to report personnel engaged in illegal activities.
As far as I know, he's still technically employed, but when this goes up the ladder...this is not just fucking yourself out of A job, this is "You are no longer hireable ANYWHERE" levels of bullshit. Because he's going to get one or two people who actually have been doing drugs (it's a fucking pizza chain that employs high schoolers, for fuck's sake), but the people he reports who are fucking boring as shit...like me? We've got cause to sue for defamation. Of course that's just IF anything happens. I mean aside from him getting spitroasted (legally and possibly in the more...graphic sense).
Definitely one of the more interesting jobs I've worked!

Another Workplace Conundrum (Yes god damn it, another one!)
General | Posted 7 years agoGot another manager working at the place who's been working for the company for, in her words, 23 years. She is horrifically incompetent in that place, to the point where a lot of people are refusing to come in if she's being put in charge. To stress how serious that is, refusing to come in is one of the few things the GM WILL fire people for. What makes it especially frustrating? She's there because she is good friends with the owner of that particular store.
Well that's frustrating enough, but some very serious signs have been presented. This lady is in her 60's or 70's and a few weeks ago, she let one of the drivers leave almost an hour before closing time which still left plenty of time for a last minute rush. I pointed that out to her along with the fact that now we didn't have anyone to wash dishes and she didn't seem to comprehend it. She just went about her business and walked past a screen and saw the time and said "Whoa, we've still got thirty minutes?!" this was after she told me and the other employee to get our money and miles and such so we could get cashed out and leave. Me and the other employee just stood there, kind of at a loss, because it wasn't one of those "It felt like it was X O'clock", she really didn't know it was that time.
Along with the other ways she been a serious problem, things sadly started to make sense. I reported to the GM either the next day or the day after that I had a strong suspicion that she's got Dementia/Alzhiemer's. She's still employed there, but now she isn't required to do ANYTHING. Other coworkers have noticed similar alarming issues and yeah...so I guess we just let this happen I suppose. Until she hurts herself or someone else. Hopefully that won't happen, but still it sucks.

A Year in Review: Still Enduring, Still Struggling
General | Posted 7 years agoWon't retread every detail that's happened over the past year. I really should acknowledge some good things have been happening. It's easy to forget about that when, in general, things are tough. I'm working a steady job that has the kind of assholes that you find anywhere, but the ones I have to deal with are particularly easy targets, so if they piss me off and I feel particularly vicious, I have some fun. The only way I've seen people get fired from this place is by them just not coming in at all, no calls or notice or anything. Even thing, the GM is notorious for giving "second chances".
Got a car. It needs some work but it'll do.
I'm also going to my first convention in February and traveling a good distance (from Texas to Boston) on my own for the first time. Trying to take some bigger steps out in the world.
You know for three small things that just come immediately to mind, I think that'll do. I'm feeling better.

I'm Really at a Loss
General | Posted 7 years agoThere are a couple of you who I talk with fairly regularly who know the latest developments regarding my brother. I have no idea what his goal is with his unbelievable stupidity and selfishness, but I think it's about to come to a head.
I know I've mentioned my brother has a girlfriend who also has a kid who is (I think) five years old. I keep a distance from all of them, so I don't know the kid's exact age. I also don't want to bond with people who are closely associated with my brother, for obvious reasons. I should also note here that I hate kids. That doesn't mean I'd ever harm any kids, mind you, just...they are NOT my thing! I know a lot of you understand that, but yeah.
A couple of days ago, I was asked if I could drop my brother, his gf, and her kid off at her house on my way to work (I was annoyed because it's not "on my way"). I said no but was told he had no other way and I decided to go ahead because him having no other means of transportation, since his car was repo'd, also meant he'd be gone for at least a couple of days. However I was also annoyed because he'd been allowed to borrow the car for...whatever it is he does. He keeps saying he's looking for work, but he refuses to actually apply anywhere. But I was told that he would put gas in the car so I wouldn't be too low for work and have to use too much money. I knew how much was in the tank when he took it.
So we all get ready to leave and I turned one the car and saw where the gauge currently was and asked him "Did you put gas in it like you said?" Aaaaand he got confrontational, telling me to shut the fuck up and this and that. I just looked at him and he said "Well are you gonna fucking go? You're the one driving so any time that gets wasted is on you!" He's 27. There is a 5 year old in the fucking backseat. I just looked at him and said "I haven't taken y'all anywhere yet and I don't have to. If you keep talking to me like that, I'll just leave y'all here." Then he shut up for a second.
I backed out of the driveway and the road we live on isn't paved, there's loose gravel and dirt, so when I put it in gear and started off, there was a slight slide. He took the opportunity to get onto me again, using the kid as an excuse "Are you really gonna fucking drive like that with him in the backseat?!" and I told him "I'm just driving, calm the fuck down." And we barely got anywhere when he said "If you want you can just pull over and I can kick your ass!" Again, I have to emphasize, he's 27 fucking years old. He is threatening someone with violence in front of a 5 year old.
I was fucking pissed but I knew what he was trying to do so I just told him "You know what, I still haven't taken y'all anywhere and if you keep it up, I'll just drive straight to work and leave y'all to figure out how to get back." (worth noting, I have to commute a little ways to my job, about 30 minutes total with traffic pending). Finally he shut the hell up. Then I put the final nail in his sadly only figurative coffin by telling him "By the way, I know you didn't put back the gas you used because I know where it was at before you took the car." and he will try to bully and argue with anyone, but when you tell him you KNOW something and you tell him how you know it and that he can't say a damn thing...yeah he has nothing. "If you want, you can stop at this gas station and I'll put some more in it..." I declined the offer because I was on a clock and I just wanted to get rid of him. He made no more threats or vulgarities towards me, but I was fucking livid.
He's dangerous. I woke up a few weeks ago to him literally throwing chairs against the floor and screaming at his gf and my mom (my mom made him go outside and she locked him out) and he's also been, I CAN'T make this up, threatening to "run away". This kid is not living on planet earth. Unfortunately, this kid is about 6'2" and is a bulky 200 pounds, so he can cause some damage. He's dangerous and when he crosses that line, I'm taking him down hard and calling the cops on him, pressing charges, everything. I don't know what his problem is, seriously, the only thing I can think is that he has a fucking personality disorder. Whatever it is, it's serious and he is NOT high-functioning.
I won't go into detail, though I have discussed it with a few friends, but I am taking precautions in case he gets physical. Hell, if he ever threatens anyone again and I hear it, I'm calling the cops. He's going to suffer real consequences for acting childish.
