Electro Friday: Farben - Raute
Posted a year agoSince you all thought posting a track every Friday would be a nice idea, I'm going for it.
This Friday, a surprisingly toe-tappable glitch piece: "Raute" by Farben!

An extended break
Posted a year agoI'm going to be taking an extended break from social media, this includes Discord and FurAffinity.
Don't be alarmed. I'm not in any trouble or suffering from a crisis or anything, I'll be back in a few weeks at most.
In the meantime, take care.

It fits our hectic quasi-cyberpunk era quite well in my opinion.
Cool story, right?
Here's the full playlist if anyone's interested: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?li.....wKukGzWmiM6s7h

Circles... how the fuck do people draw them?
Posted a year agoI've decided to practice drawing circles. All my life my attempts to draw them ended up as:
* Ovals
* Ellipses with disconnected ends
* Or some fucked up things with some sides curved and others flattened.
So I'm only on day 2 of practice, but IDK how I should practice them in order to get better (rather than just end up drawing the same non-circular shapes).
Anyone have any suggestions how I should practice improving my circles? Or even just shapes in general?

The Way
Posted a year agoHow I know I'm old
Posted a year agoThere's some posts I made on Discord that prove it.
(An earlier series of posts)
I'm having this feeling right now.
I don't know exactly how to describe it.
Like... a combination of nostalgia and looking back at naivete (both one's own and others), while wondering how the fuck things got this way and feeling unsure about what the future might hold.
Like this song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KfiTqTgmuNw

(A later series of posts)
Dad was driving around on some chores and we went past a ton of places I remembered going to as a kid.
Made me think back to the 90s and how so many of the people I knew aren't around anymore.
Grandmother on my dad's side died of lung cancer ~a decade ago. Grandmother and grandfather on my mom's side died of disease about 10-13 years ago.
We aren't talking with My aunt on my mom's side for personal reasons.
I remember visiting her house and my cousin was into Gargoyles.
We'd visit my grandparents (both sides) on various holidays. It was fun.
Not to mention some of the media back then (Cartoon Cartoon Fridays!).
And looking back historically, I felt like we had more of a chance to make things better than they are now.
I feel like the world has gotten a lot faster and more chaotic too.
Too much.
Heh, this was playing on the radio while we were driving now I'm listening to it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QepffW3Tayg

Stop Xenophobia
Posted a year agoPutin's invasion is absolutely criminal and must be resisted, but I feel that too many people associate his actions with that of the Russian people as a whole.
I'm acquaintances with a few Russians and they are kind people. Indeed one of them had offered words of support to a Ukrainian refugee but was flamed due to the actions of the Putin administration.
Not only is it morally wrong to discriminate against the entire population of a country for the actions of its government, but in this case xenophobia is playing directly into Putin's hands: https://cepa.org/article/russia-the.....orld-hates-us/
To borrow phrasing from MLK: we should judge a person (Russian or otherwise) not by the land on which they were born, but by the contents of their hearts.

Sir Griff The Proto-Punk Gargoyle
Posted 2 years agoFor those of you who are Gargoyles fans you may remember Sir Griff; a member of the London Clan who ended up being transported from the 1940s to the 1990s.
One funny thing about this guy is that, when I look at him, music from The Who or The Kinks comes to mind.
These bands (and their genres) did not exist in the 1940s, so why do they come to mind with Griff? I think it's because to me his outfit + hairstyle have an early 1960s punk feel about him.
Compare/contrast him: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/25728061/

So there you go, Griff is the proto-punk Gargoyle.
Banal post is banal.
Special thanks to
kordyne for letting me link to their art!

There's depressingly little art of this guy.
Yeah, I know he's a villain, but I can't get myself to hate him completely because (as TV Tropes says):
"The first action we see him do is to take down a mad rhino by hand so it can be given proper medical treatment instead of being put down. Then, he has a friendly sparring match with his lion whom he shows much affection for. The guy may be an Egomaniac Hunter, but also seems to have a genuine love for animals."
I'm surprised more furs haven't done art of him considering both his beastliness and his genuine care for animals.

About "Refuge"
Posted 2 years agoSince it's become the most favorited work of mine yet (can't imagine why...), I might as well go into some detail about it.
First: the idea of the story isn't entirely original. In fact the concept of a safety preserve for people was inspired by Stephen Baxter's short story Refugium (oh look, even the name's the same).
As for "reaching out to a place and suddenly finding oneself there"? A Princess of Mars, by Edgar Rice Burroughs.
The setting I have for my story is intended to be of a science-fiction nature. The "guide" Peter and Connor are greeted by is an artificial life form created by who or whatever had built the place to begin with.
Why change newcomers to bullmen? No idea. Maybe a case of "blue and orange morality"*, or maybe we should just stick with "The Mantra"**.
Further stories I have in mind would have NSFW stuff in it, and I don't want to push away any of my followers who aren't into that stuff. So will I revisit this universe? I don't know for sure.
(Warning: TV Tropes links ahead)

A Fur Needs Help
Posted 2 years agoWhen I grow up
Posted 2 years agoWay back in grade school I wanted to be a storm chaser when I grew up. Sadly the storm chasing career never happened, but I was really fascinated by storms (especially tornadoes) when I was little. Here's a few segments from one of the first tornado documentaries I saw (also the first I owned on VHS):

This was around 1995/96, I was still in kindergarten!
The normal kids probably wanted to be baseball players or astronauts.
