Move update!
Posted 7 years agoSlowly Moving Some stuff!
Posted 7 years agoI'm gonna slowly be moving a lot of stuff over to another account. If you want to follow me there, its

I won't be moving everything over, but I'm not 100% sure on how I'm gonna divide it up yet either. Decision to come later, but for now I'll just be making minor changes and uploading a few things over there. Nothing will be removed here until I decide how I'm going to divide it up.
Update - Xy missing
Posted 7 years agoHe's been found! He was more than a mile from home and the person who found him said hid collar and tags were not on him. He'll be back home with us tonight. The person who picked him up already had him looked at by a vet to make sure he wasn't injured and found our number from facebook posts.
Please help..
Posted 7 years agoI never get much of a response on my journals, so I don't know what I expect, but I'm trying everything I can think of here...
My husky, Xy, is missing. He was there when i got home today, but went missing after lunch. We think someone might have taken him from our yard in caldwell county, North Carolina as the fence wasn't dug under. He's 6 years old, and he has a few medical conditions. I've posted on Facebook groups, shared to friends and family, we're putting up posters and checking sites like Craigslist. Once they open, we'll be notifying the local vets, pound, and shelters.
I don't even know how many in this community are local enough to potentially see him, but please....if you are, share this, and keep an eye out.

That white stripe goes all the way from his forehead down the back of his neck and across the front of his shoulder.

Posted 8 years agoJob
Posted 8 years agoI got a job! Nothing special or anything, but I don't know if it'll change how easily available I am. I'm training this week, and after than, I'll be working 3rd shift so I haven't figured out my sleep schedule or anything yet.
We'll have to see lol.
*Edit - Staying on 1st shift for a while. Schedule may have loosened up a bit, but we'll see.

Absolutely Angry
Posted 9 years agoSunday, I came home from :KaylenKylar:'s place to find a note from animal control. On the tag it had "No displayed rabies tag" underlined in a list of issues, with the notes that someone had called and left a complaint.
OK, fair enough. He pulls the dangling tags off faster than a magician does a card trick. I called the number on the tag first thing Monday morning and left a voicemail for one of the officers who came out with Xy's vaccine tag #, expiration date, and the vet who administered it, as well as my phone number in case they needed anything else. I think the story is Over.
Find out that my neighbor actually talked to the officers while they were here. They said they were called out on complaint of a starving husky.....Now...I have pictures of my dog from that weekend on my phone. Looking at body index scores, he's 100% in the ideal range. Now I'm mad, because the speculation is that they called out of spite. There's an almost 50 year old fight going on over the dirt road we live on because of a dirty handed developer who sold land behind us. The short story is, people are confused on road maintenance responsibilities and we have an issue right now that they don't want to properly fix (or fix at all) and we think they called either because we aren't responsible for fixing the road and thus not helping them, or because the dog was mistaken for being the neighbors (part of the problem).
Today, one of the officers calls me back. He told me that there was a complaint from a woman (who wished to remain anonymous, of course) about a husky who was:
starving
dehydrated
matted fur
seriously ill
Now I'm angry. Very angry. Yes, Xy is blowing his coat and looks a bit rough, but walk up to him and you can tell he is none of those things. And yes, he does have health issues, but nothing we haven't talked with our vet about. None of them are visible though, unless you know the dog enough to tell he's not as active as he used to be or as active as other huskies would be (heart murmur and he's going on 6 yrs old). The officer even told us they walked around for a bit and couldn't see anything wrong other than the lack of rabies tag.
I love Xy, and we take care of our animals. To have someone try to claim my dog is in terrible condition when he is obviously taken care off is one of the most angering things I've dealt with in a while.

Pokemon Go and Ponies!
Posted 9 years agoI haven't posted all of the wild pony pictures here. I just can't be arsed to. You can see a few more of them on my Furry Network, but with Pokemn Go and getting ready for WoW Legion, I have shit to get done elsewhere on the computer and wont be equally submitting to both galleries. FA got a few of the good ones and a few scrap photos while FN got the majority of the good ones, though I don't think anyone would miss out either way.
I have Pokemon Go!...Sort of. I still use a galaxy s3 like an out of date little punk, and can't get it on there, but I have
's old S4 since he upgraded and I have it installed there. No service on the phone, but I can still use it when connected to wifi, but we're looking into what we can do about that.
In other news, I'm going to the Highland Games tomorrow. NC has them Every July and they're always the week of my birthday. i have this big fondness for anything Irish or Scottish, partly due to family ancestry, so this year that's what I'm doing for my birthday. Games on Saturday, birthday on Sunday.

-She is about 2-4 inches TALLER than purebred Rough Collies/Huskies/Labs
-She is the SAME HEIGHT as a LARGE coyote/ almost 5in TALLER than a SMALL coyote
-She is around 5-8in SMALLER than a wolf
-She is TALLER than GSDs on the shorter end of breed standard, but SMALLER than the higher end
Seriously people....
Posted 9 years agoTo start with, I'm not going to trivialize recent news with the site, nor do I want to overdo it, so that really isn't the point of this journal. It happened, how the situation alters the path going forward will be something to keep updated on. Potentially, that could be the end of the story.
But it isn't. It created a fallout and understandably (I think) some people are going to feel concerned about site security, no matter what caused it. What bothers me about this isn't that people are leaving FA, but the replies from their watchers (or in some cases...those who simply felt the need to comment on journals of artists who plan to leave).
You have NO RIGHT to belittle someone's choice to move to a new website or to belittle them for feeling that they need to make that choice. Saying things like "You'll be back" is disrespectful, and down right rude. Saying that kind of thing doesn't accomplish anything, so what is the point? You're definitely not making them want to stay. As watchers, we are supposed to SUPPORT the artists that we love to see work from, not act like an ass to them because they want to change platforms. If people feel it is better to move to a new site, DON"T GET BUTTHURT!
In the end, you watch the artist for their work. If they leave, make an account and watch them there as well, or shut up and move along. And if you're whining about it on the page of someone you haven't even commissioned/don't want to commission or maybe that you don't even watch....shame on you.

NC's stupid law
Posted 9 years agoI vented a little bit on twitter about this, but I still feel really angry over this whole thing, and being from NC, I wanted to put MY PERSONAL view out there to distance myself from that stupid law.
I do not agree whatsoever with this law and I hope that all the negative attention, as well as the way companies are backing out of deals in NC will have this corrected quickly.

Xbone backwards compatability
Posted 9 years agoWas SO happy to hear that Halo Reach was included in it, until I attempted to play with
Couch multiplayer is IMPOSSIBLE. We tried to start a firefight game last night, but the game just freezes up constantly. You have to back out to the home screen and back into the game for it to unfreeze, and that isn't the only issue.
I tried to leave the game so we could test the game in single player, but there's no way to do that inside the game since the xbox button just takes you back to the home screen. You might be able to leave the game from a menu there, but I didn't try it. We just gave up on it for the night and decided not to bother since I still have my 360. I just didn't want to take it over to Kaylen's if I didn't need to.

3 Lies and a Truth
Posted 10 years agoA little game that I decided to do after seeing
's
I'll tell you 4 stories, 3 truths and a lie, about me and you guess which the the lie. (if anyone even reads this >.<)
1. When I was about 7 or 8, I was spending the night at my friend's house just across the highway from the road I live on. That evening, her dad was going to his job as a correctional officer at the jail in the next county over when they called to say that one of the inmates had gotten out. That night, me and my friend were watching tv in her room when it kept cutting off on us. Every time we would cut it back on, it would cut back of after a few seconds. After taking the batteries from the remote and checking the plug, we tried again and it cut off again, then we heard a loud bang that sounded like a gunshot. There was no storm so we didn't think it was a transformer that blew. When my friend turned to look outside, there was a man standing under the tree at teh far end of her yard, by the swing we had been in earlier. He turned and walked into the woods and we told her mom, who let us sleep in the room with her. A few days later, a man in an orange jumpsuit walked out of the woods while my friend was on the swing and asked if he could push her. We found an old mattress and blanket at the top of the hill behind the tree not long after, in what was left of a lumber storage area.
2. I have a habit of bringing home stray animals, even if only to find them a new home. So far, I have brought home a junkyard mutt, a boxer/pit/rottie mix, a purebred shetland sheepdog, a beagle, 2 rotties, an english mastiff, a coydog, a white german shepherd with a docked tail, 5 cats, a plott hound mix, a shepherd mix, a spaniel mix, a pit bull, a corgi/basset hound, a fiest, a german shorthair pointer, 2 lizards, a guinea pig, a rabbit, and 2 goats (not counting the two we already have).
3. One summer a cardinal took up in a small tree behind out house and would fly down to sit on our ac every day. He would peck on the window all day long and it sounded just like it had started to rain outside. With it just being me and my dad, my grandmother would come to help out around the house, washing dishes, doing laundry, etc, especially since this was the first year that I wasn't at a daycare program for the summer. Every time she would hear the Cardinal she would get irritated and complain because she thought it was raining and she had left her umbrella at their house. She would gripe about the weather channel and complain that they were all idiots, saying you could never know what the weather was gonna be unless you looked at the sky, only to go outside and it be perfectly sunny and warm.
4. One night, me and my friends were on our way to see a wrestling match in a town a few hours away. None of us were really excited to go, but one friend was dating a guy in the match, so we were all going for support. Depsite the fact that it should have only taken us a couple hours to get there, none of us seemed to notice that we drove much longer than that because the car was so cramped and we were all fighting for any little bit of space we could get the entire way (the back seat was especially cramped). Finally, the girl's phone rang and her boyfriend said he was upset that we had missed his match. At first we thought he was playing a joke on us, but then we checked the time and saw that it was much later than we thought. In our confusion, we stopped fighting long enough to pay attention to the signs along the road and realized we were in the next state over, going the opposite direction.

People and petitions
Posted 10 years agoIs it just me, or does it seem like people will make petitions for anything now?
To start off, I want to say that I have no issue with making a petition for a good cause, but just because someone is upset over something doesn't exactly make their petition a good cause.
A couple years ago, when I was a bit more active on Facebook, I decided to follow some of the local rescue groups and the local pound so I could stay informed and help by sharing the dogs that were up for adoption. One of these groups brought a petition to my attention. It was for a county in our state to stop euthanizing Pit Bulls, Rotties, and other dogs perceived as dangerous as soon as they came in the door. The county in question wasn't even giving these dogs a fair shot, based on breed and breed alone. I signed up for the site the petition was hosted on and I signed it because I strongly hate BSL (Breed Specific Legislation) and as a person who had raised two wonderfully sweet Pitties of my own, I wanted these dogs to have the same chance as any other dog that would have been there.
Fast forward to current time, I'm still a member of the petition site, just incase something I feel strongly about comes across my attention. Every few days, I get an email about a new petition that "We think you'd be interested in". Some of the Headlines on them catch my attention so I read the details and more often than not, I just end up mad. I'll share with you some examples. I'll explain below why I think each is a bit off.
1. Woman wants to sue Seaworld and she wants them to refund EVERY SINGLE TICKET since the park opened, because she believed that, despite having no testing done and no knowledge of whales (including the different species), that the whales were horribly sunburnt and the tanks were so full of chlorine that the whales eyes were burning and their vision was suffering because of it.
2. Woman wants to stop all coyote hunting in her state, claiming there is no way to have any clue about the population and that they will go extinct in the state due to a bounty on them.
3. Unknown gender wants the AKC to disallow ALL new registrations to stop puppy mills from selling "registered" dogs.
4. Young woman wants to sue facebook after ban for artistic nudity.
5. Save X animal from X zoo.
My thoughts on them:
1. How does she expect Sea World to refund tickets payed for with cash or that go that far back? This woman had NO experience with whales, no training with any form of wildlife, she was just a soccer mom who jumped to a conclusion. if anything, petition for an inspection of the park or for the park to provide samples of the water for independent testing and have someone evaluate the whales and their tanks. At the very least, petition for inspections to ensure that the care is sufficient and the whales are ok, but make it realistic and get professionals involved who know more than a random visitor.
2. Coyotes are one of the most widespread animals today. They are also one of the most adaptive. In recent years, they have spread to areas they were never seen in before and in enough numbers to get Fish and Game's attention. We've had small, remote populations of cougars here for YEARS now (my dad has followed their tracks where he hunts, and seen them himself) but Fish and Game still claims they aren't here, while the coyote wasn't even around when I was born. In the last 10 years, we've went from coyotes being a rare sight to being included on the game list with open season all year round. While there is no way to get an exact count on any population, wildlife management officials do have ways to come up with estimates, which are what they go by to determine things such as bag limits and where a species ranks on the endangered list. As for the bounty part, if your issue is with the bounty, why not petition to stop the program offering the bounty instead of ALL coyote hunting? I'd also like to point out that, from doing a little research myself, the bounty only targets areas where the mule deer population is below ideal and where bucks greatly outnumber does and fawns. gps locations are required for each coyote turned in, to monitor how many are taken from what area, as well as making sure they were in the designated area.
3. I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Breeding is not a bad thing. IRRESPONSIBLE breeding is bad. There are still people out there who breed to produce healthy dogs with sound temperaments, regardless of registration clubs. While I think that the AKC could do a little more to ensure that registered dogs come from healthy stock and good breeders, they simply can't control everyone with an AKC registered dog. They also can't track down every set of forged papers. Yes, forged papers. This is an issue I saw myself with a friend who received fake registration papers and the seller disappeared on her, going as far as to change their number. There's also the issue of general ignorance among buyers. Another friend once told me they went to a "puppy farm" where you could pick out any two dogs and they would be bred so you could have a puppy. I was horrified and told her it was just a puppy mill and that was a terrible way to breed animals, but she insisted there was a difference because all the dogs were AKC registered. Its the buyers responsibility to be informed, not just on the breed, but on the sellers and what to look for, what to avoid, and what to report. If the AKC listened then there would only be two results. 1. Good breeders wouldn't be able to register pups while scam mills would continue to give out fake papers or simply to breed dogs that "could be registered at a later date". And 2. Other registration clubs would be the next targets of this petition, like UKC, ADBA, etc. Petition for logical laws that make it harder for backyard breeders or people who simply want easy money to continue breeding rather than target the registry. Our own area is trying to pass a law that will make anyone with a specified number of intact animals register for a license and submit to inspections. People simply wanting money from the pups don't want an extra expenditure and people who run mills don't want the inspections.
4. The only real issue I have with this one is the person isn't telling the whole truth. One of the comments on this particular petition had links to prove the lady wasn't banned for drawn, artistic nudity, but for the myriad of real nudity in her selfies throughout her photo albums. Selfies, not a really artistic thing there.
5. I'm all for these petitions when the animal is in some backwater "zoo" and living with a poor quality of life, but just because these animals aren't roaming free, doesn't exactly mean that they're suffering either. I always look at these because there are times where I'm appalled at some of the pictures or videos I've seen of poor zoo care, but the petitions for these are, more often than not, one of two things. 1. Some soccer mom thinks the animal looks bored and lonely, or that it sleeps all day because of depression. Or 2. Some PETA type wanting to free all the animals. I've even seen these petitions asking for entire zoos to be shut down. Sometimes they request the animal be released into the wild, sometimes to a preserve or sanctuary, but none of them really seem to think about it. I see plenty of them that say "this old guy deserves to be free" and old is accurate. But that animal has been in a zoo, very likely, its entire life and would have no idea how to survive on its own. Also, not all animals in all zoos (or in any kind of captivity for that matter) are physically able to survive without care. A center in our state has several lions, tigers, leopards, wolves, servals, etc because people bought them as exotic pets and legally couldn't have them, didn't realize what they were in for, or they escaped. There are also zoos who take in these animals and other animals from smaller zoos or sanctuaries that can't afford them anymore, or closed. Some of them were injured in the wild and never recovered enough to return to the wild, and living in a zoo is much kinder than being euthanized. Zoos typically try to keep their animals healthy, well fed, and provide things for them to do, though it may not always be in the public eye. One of these petitions I saw was particularly aggravating because the person was simply mad that their zoo had shown interest in the animal but ultimately, the animal went to a zoo with a bit more room and in a better climate for the animal.
TL;DR
Do your research (or get in touch with an expert), think things through, and target your petitions in the right direction so you don't look like an idiot.
