A Decade, 2019, and 2020 So far.,
Posted 5 years agoSo its the end of the 2010s and we are now in the 2020s. This past decade, for me at least, has had its share of ups and downs. And this particular past year has been a downer, even bleeding into the first 3 days of 2020. But instead of going year by year i think i will just do like the pros and cons of different aspects of my decade up to 2018 and then i will do a section just for 2019 and maybe my hopes for 2020 and the coming years
2010-2018
Conventions and Furry Stuff
So these years saw me going to quite a few conventions, as well as making a change. Megaplex became my non-missable con replacing FWA. I never missed a Megaplex the whole decade and got to watch it grow and evolve each year. I had the oppurtunity to go a few other different furry events, some of which are sadly no longer happening like Rocket City Fur Meet, and the Florida based Elliots Live Events. I was also a frequent and reliable attendee for the Furloween dance party and picnic as well as the Fursonification beach party. For the most part most of my furry event attending happened within the state as it was more convenient and more within the allocated budgets, however i did go back to FWA twice. Possibly the biggest step out of my comfort zone was getting on a plane and going to MFF for the first time, and hopefully not the last. Outside furry i got to go to Megacon in Orlando a couple of times. THrough many of these cons and events i got to meet quite a few people in the voice acting field such as Rob Paulson (who i first met in 2005), Maurice LeMarche, and Jim Cummings.
Furrywise these years also saw the arrival of my first fursuit by
hindpaws in 2012, with the help of my friend
doubled I had always dreamed of getting my own first ever since i became enamored with them at my first furrycon, I also, over the decade got to meet alot of amazing and cool furries both here and at cons, many of which have become good friends. Ive also met alot of the Youtube fur community as well, including the likes of Corey Coyote and crew from Damn Dog Games, Adler the Eagle and Artemis Wishfoot
Not everything was rosy though as i experienced a few moments of negativity, mostly after cons usually due to my less than stellar social cues and imn some cases my own paw fetish. I have a history of occasionally rubbing people the wrong way despite meaning well and it showed a few times, even as far as a ban from a Florida based event. However alot of people have told me that since the beginning of the decade i have improved year after year. Also a couple of friends moved away that i used to hang with both in and out of cons so that was also a bummer.
Personal Life
2010 to 2018 saw a few changes happen to my life, some good some bad. in 2012 i graduated college finally. Took a decade just to get my bachelors degree but i got it. I got to indulge in my out of furry hobbies like cars and planes and stuff by going to various car and airshows, including an RV show or two. Work wise i got a promotion back to the position i was at when i started so never really moved forward with it. Family wise i got to do a few fun things like a 2012 trip with my mother to Key West which was amazing along with a few trips back to NY for family stuff. I also went to Las Vegas for the first time in 2018 for an aunts birthday.
Negatives did happen though. My parents finally called it quits on their marriage following my dad moving out in 2011. I dont care how old you are (i was 28), you ARE affected by stuff like that. Alot of drama followed and things are still really different now. My dad was also diagnosed with type 2 diabetes during the decade and despite having been married to someone whose had diabetes for 30 years, doesnt seem to want to take advantage of her knowledge of the disease also was hospitalised with heart proplems but thanks to a triple bypass surgery we managed to avert disaster.
2019
So this past year was a bit off and on for me and ended kinda meh. Furrywise i went to my usual Florida based events like Megaplex and Furloween, not really going anywhere else and stuff. Outside of the fandom though things took a downturn family wise. My mother ended up losing her job in March a year before retirement (On her birthday of all days), losing all the benefits she was hoping for. It resulted in me being the only breadwinner in the household, tho overtime she has been finding ways to get money (without working). Regardless it has had me stress out alot worrying about her economic status and happiness. This has put a bit more pressure on me especially after my father decided that i should take over providing the maintence on the house and the appliances within, a few of which started to show their age and start failing; squeeling dryer, running toilet, stuck patio door, replacing a sink faucet, etc. Im not a professional handyman so alot of thes things i had to do i went into blind, but did manage to do the fixin. There were also heighted bits of drama between my father and mother, due to their different opinions on things like her feelings and my future. The year almost ended on really bad note with my mother turning i the lease on her car and not being able to afford to buy it out. Thankfully a family friend managed to help her get it back so the year ended on a better note.
2020 so far.
Things have slowly but slightly surely started to improve. I managed to fix one or two more things in the house. Ive also lost quite a bit of weight, due to watching my portions and possible stress. Ive also started seeing a therapist about my longtime battles with anxiety and stress. However my costant stressing over certain things have taken a toll on not just me but my mother as well and during a serious talk with her about the effects of my stressing on her, i experienced what we feel was a stress/anxiety induced faint. Alot of sources for me have been things like my lack of confidence in my abilities especially pertaining to my aforementioned fixing spree, financial issues, both mine and my mothers, her health, my parents relationship. A few of these things i know arent my problems to think about and hopefully my therapist can help me with that. Finally i have been thinking on and off about getting a second job to make more money to not just provide for the home but also more cash with which to do more fun things like cons and stuff. Hopefully things will slowly but surely continue to improve..

MFF 2018 Con Review!
Posted 7 years agoWell ive done it! I went to Midwest Fur Fest and experienced four full days of the largest furry convention in the world. As i mentioned in the precon journal this is a con i had attempted to go to in the past but couldn't due to various reasons, mostly money involved reasons. Another reason was in fact the size. Big cons are usually a put off for me for a few reasons, including the aforementioned costs and logistics. They are also hard to get rooms for leaving you scrambling to find other options. Also, i find that due to their immense size it can get overwhelming especially with a the decision of whether to walk around and explore or go to panels or just hang with friends. On top of that with big cons you often run the risk of missing people you either wanted to see or want to meet, and usually end up seeing them in pics or videos after the con going "Awwww man i didnt know they wrere there!" Something ive done a couple of times already. As a result i pretty much abandoned it as i did with other cons that i felt were either too big or too expensive to hit.
However this time i decided to bite the bullet and go with a slight change in attitude, having only stuck mostly to Megaplex and the other Florida based furry events for the past few years. On top of that i got lucky as a friend was staying in the main hotel and had a spot for me, as well as some financial assistance from a relative or two. So lets get started...
First off the flights were easy to get and afford and were directs from home to con to home again. I must say it was kind of funny to get off the plane in Chicago and see other Florida Furs from Orlando also waiting for the bus, which was a quick trip to the hotel. The first day for me was basically a put stuff in room, get a tour of the con space by roomates, shop at the local outlets for comfy shoes, unwind from the trip night. What intruqued me was how people were arriving as early as Tuesday where as i arrived on Thursday, even tho the official start date is thte friday of the weekend. I mostly spant the day just taking random pics of various suiters then had dinner at the hotel buffet. I did run into a couple of the DamnDogGames crew like Sticks Fox
kibu42 and Ed the Poodle
themushman as well as Kelphazar Dragon
yingyangjme. I then concluded the night by handling for my roommate
lordnegaduck and taking pics for him with other suiters.
Friday was more of the same but decided to be more engaging. I ran into
coreycoyote and
ricotiger and their mutual friend BigPaws Lion and walked around with them for a bit, sharing the mutual first time MFF experience and watching Corey film stuff for his killer con vlogs he makes. I then headed to the Macro/Microfurs meetup which was a clusterf*** as they staged it in a small panel room in the "fishbowl" dome space which was nowhere NEAR enough space, and resulted in the attendees to congregate in the actual fishbowl space. During that time i met up with
werefox18 Who i hadnt seen in years so it was a nice reunion. After a few more rounds of walking about taking pics and, latr that evening after the shiny sponsor luncheon i met up with my friend
captainfurry who i finally got to meet at last, and we went back to his room at the Doubletree for a nice hangout and cuddle and pawplay, then over to my friend
torrle 's room for more of the same, then back down to the con space for the remainder of the evening.
Saturday i got up and went down to the con space, and down to the underground gaming area where i ran into
bigwolfpaws another fur i was looking forward to meet, before making my way down to th fursuit menagerie which was different for me as it was MFFs alternative for a parade. Its essentially a fursuit meet and greet where suiters can interact and also take part in group photos of a certain maker's suits. After that Corey Coyote and i headed down to the Adler the Eagle
feber12 panel which was amasing. Lots of fun and Adler is a great host!. After that i ended up finally bumping into Artemis Wishfoot
wishfoot88 and is crew and wandering with them a bit before we hit the Youtube Furs meet and greet which was SOOOOOO crowded but SOOOOO amazing, just about everyone was there. After that it was essentially walking around more before seeing my friends Antimon
antimon and Angela and got dinner before later on being a temporary footrest for
majestytiger *blush*, which was then followed by more pics taken, scoping out the dance and finally heading to bed.
Sunday started a bit late as i slept dang near past noon. I headed down to the outside area by the fishbowl to watch Corey Coyote film footage for his Furry Youtube Rewind video which was alot of fun. After doin that a few hours, i ran into Artemis again and hung out with him and his crew for a while before going to the closing ceremonies. After that it was mostly hanging round the Hyatt taking pictures. I got to sit and rub
averagejoey paws for a little while too. I then finally, with time running out got in suit, which was a bit challenging being one that wears glasses that fogged up instantly in suit then again coming in from the cold. Thankfully
lordnegaduck was there to be my handler. Finally i desuited and packed.
Monday of course was the day i flew home but not till 7:45 PM. I hung out in the room till i could no more, bein the last to leave and headed down to watch others catch their shuttles to Midway and O'Hare. I ran into Corey Coyote who was in suit doin more vlogging including a session with
dukedoberman . I hung out with him and Rico and BigPaws until they left to do other things. I hung out with
hinowolf for a while and just talked about the con and about next years Megaplex until i sadly had to get on the shuttle to O'Hare, go through the security and wait for my plane back to Florida. Got a near empty plane so woo hoo.
Impression of the Con and my personal Weekend Experience and after con thoughts
Wow, this con is huge! Last big con i ever went to was FWA 2017 which had 4000+ people, and this one has 10,000+! Oddly enough being there i got a bit of an FWA vibe from the Hyatt, mainly because, the Hyatt O'Hare and the Marriot Marquis Atlanta building were both built by the same architect firm. I will admit i probably didnt get the full scale of the size of the con as I rarely strayed from the Hyatt and as a result it didn't feel like 10,000. Heck i didnt even go into the dealers hall or artist alley or any rooms in the con center. The Hyatt is still the main gathering point of the con. Its pretty much like AC in a way. I also went to this con with knowledge of th hotel to hotel to con center skyways bein hot. I will say as long as your not in suit it isnt that bad but i can see how some may pass out before hitting the Hyatt. Probably the only crazy thing was the reg lines. Wow that took a while, as least until they began picking us shiny sponsors and sponsors out of the lines. All in all the con itself was great. They do need to look into the possible size of meetups before choosing a room ala Macrofurs meet. Other than that i cant really pick out anything wrong with the con itself.
For me the weekend was predominantly a success. I admit i went into it with alot of stress and anxiety. It had been 10 years since ive flown to a con, let alone one this big. As i mentioned at the beginning to this report i had pretty much written off cons that often require a plane ticket, mainly cuz the disadvantages stand out to me, such as cost and stresses of air travel added to con costs. Ya cant pack as much as you would for a car based con trip unless you make a good bank and/ or fly Southwest. You're also limited to travel once you get there unless you know someone there who has a car. And if something goes wrong whatever it may be, your stuck there unless you reschedule your flight; cant just check out early aned hop in your car to come home. However things weren't as bad as i thought they would be travel wise. As i mentioned the two flights were not really crowded at all, and of course nothing realy negative happend. Once i got to the hotel i felt my chest loosen up a bit and i started to relax. I guess my one regeret was not seeing as many people as i hoped to. I ended up seeing alot of people the Monday i left having not seen them at all the whole con, or not interacting with them during it, which again is one of the reasons i had written off giant cons. On the plus sight i got to meet alot of the people i was hoping to meet like Artemis Wishfoot, Corey Coyote, Timber Puppers, Adler the Eagle and Blazen, Diego Fox and Sniff Wuff, etc etc etc. Plus it was nice to reconnect with those i havent seen in couple of years or a decade even. As for whether or not id come back to MFF again.....i dunno. As nice as it was, if i took everything i did and everyone i saw and replaced MFF with a con like Megaplex, i probably would have had just as much fun, heck maybe even mor so due to lack of travel stress. For me its not so much the con/venue itself thats the draw but more the people i want to see. Heck mostly the reason i went was to see people. I probably could have ghosted this con and had a similar time (if you did you missed out on epic swag). But all in all i did have a great time at MFF and am looking forward to what lay in store con wise in 2019

Goin to MFF.....wait whaaat?
Posted 7 years agoYes, finally, for the first time EVER, i will be attending MidwestFurFest! I've tried many times in the past to attend this con but fell short due to financial and personal reasons, my last attempt being 6 years ago and it was then i permanently shelved the idea, feeling as if it just wasn't meant to be. I relegated myself to just sticking with Florida based furry events like Megaplex, as those are the easiest to attend. But now all this time later i found myself in a good position to attend. I basically had talks with friends and family who insisted i need to step out o my comfort zone and attend something other than Megaplex, and as MFF is now the crowned giant of cons it was decidd i should attempt to make that happen. I happened to get lucky his time as a friend who was goin offered me room space, flights at the time were affordable, and a lil bit of support financially and emotionaly from family. So that being said, on with the MFF 2018 Meme.

It All Started With a Mouse...or two!
Posted 7 years agoOn this day in 1928 a crowd of people sit in New York City's Colony Theatre, to witness a new innovation in the still new world of animation, the synchronization of the actions seen, and the sound played. As the opening credits for the short play through, giving the shorts title and name of the lead character, the iris opening reveals a Mississippi style, side wheeled steam boat chugging down a non-descript river, its stacks defying physics as each expands and contracts like human lungs with each steam chuff, set to the beat of the music playing. The scene then cuts to the wheel house of the ship where a small cartoon mouse, presumed to be the captain, grips the spoke wheel, tapping his foot, also in tune with the background music, as if able to hear it. He then whistles along with the tune spinning the wheel back and forth during each inhalation, before grabbing the whistle cord, the three pipes on the roof sounding off one by one from low to high, the latter needing a kick to attention. Its here that the REAL captain of the boat, a large cat steps into the wheelhouse, and proceeds to voice his displeasure in meow like grunts to the mouse, the boat's deck hand, for shirking his duties. The mouse would later be smitten for a female mouse passenger, perform a rendition of Turkey in the Straw using objects and animals and get revenge on a belittling laughing parrot. While the cartoon would be known as a technical achievement in the world of animation, it would be be more popularly known as the birth of one of, if not THE, most famous cartoon couple in animation history; Mickey and Minnie Mouse.
Created mere months before the cartoon "Steamboat Willie" was shown in the Colony, Mickey started as an idea thought up by his creator Walt Disney, on a return trip to California after a failed business meeting with Universal Pictures, in New York, having lost many of his animation staff and the right to his first character, Ozwald the Lucky Rabbit, to Universal. Initially, once drawn up by Ub Iwerks, Walt originally would name him Mortimer Mouse, but the result of either a recommended name change by his wife or a conversation with child actor Mickey Rooney would result in his Mickey" moniker. Since then Mickey and Minnie entertained generations of children who would grow up still enjoying them with kids of their own. They have been witness to nearly a century of history from the Great Depression, to WWII, to the Jet Age, all the way to the new Millennium. In the Disney parks, they have entertained every one from the average visitor, to celebrities, to politicians to presidents and world leaders. Today Mickey and Minnie Mouse, have gone from simple cartoon characters, to pop culture icons known around the world. Nearly every nation has seen the influence of these two mice and have accepted them into their own culture. Someone in some country somewhere has a piece of mouse merch, 9 parks dot the globe, each giving a taste of the Original Disney magic while catering to the cultures of the people they entertain. The new Mickey Mouse shorts are recorded in the language of whatever land a short takes place in. Their likenesses have found their way to every conceivable form of material goods from clothes to tech, to pet items, making up a multi-billion dollar franchise. Yet despite all of this Mickey and Minnie continue to be the same fun loving couple they were when their spark was first lit 90 years ago.
One of the things i love about Mickey and Minnie Mouse is that they are all things to all people. The world has evolved and changed in the past 90 years but Mickey and Minnie have been affected very little by it. They remain a rare constant that people seem to want to keep. The attraction to them transcends everything from language to race to culture, to politics, to sexuality. In the past 90 years, aside from appearance tweaks they have never changed in terms of personality and values. Mickey is still the fun loving positive guy whos friends with everyone (except Pete), and Minnie is still the super sweet bow wearing love of his life. They are still just dating, and they dont live together. Somehow, as old school as that is, people still love them FOR it. As ambassadors for America, Mickey and Minnie, in my opinion have done better than any politician, and as for star power, no celebrity can match em. People either love or hate the Disney corporation, but somehow Mickey and Minnie are left out of the argument.
As a furry i crush on Mickey and Minnie quite a bit, amorously. I think they are really cute and very attractive. I just love their personalities, just endless positivity, even in the most challenging of times. Id love to be friends with them. And of course being me i love seein them barefoot, tho i do ave a thing for their shoes. Hehehe. I also see them as sort of important for the fandom as its possible alot of the cartoon characters that we as furries crush on exist in part to their creation.
So Happy Birthday Mickey and Minnie. Thank you for 90 years of fun and laughs. And thank you Walt, up there in heaven for giving us these two cuties and their friends. Hope its a good one and may you continue to keep it up for the next 90.!

Viva Las Vegas!
Posted 7 years agoSo im gonna be heading out today to Las Vegas for a family occasion. Im quite excited as ive never been to LV before. Ill be gone till sunday.
Two great Cartoon birthdays this week.
Posted 7 years agoTwo days ago in 1993 Disney Afternoon viewers were introduced to the story of a toon bobcat TV star, named Bonkers, who was at the height of Hollywood toon stardom, a big mansion, with customary stuffy butler a legion of fans who, unlike most stereotypical celebs, he always made time to acknowledge, a big limousine and a popular cartoon show (Which was his shorts on Disney's Raw Toonage). But the world of cartoons can be just as cut throat as it is for human actors. Upon realizing the show is waning with viewers who are favoring more action type cartoons, The CEO of Wacky Toon Studios, turns on Bonkers and his crew, canceling their contracts and giving them the boot, something that would have not gone well over if his fans had access to Twitter. A late night encounter with Donald Duck (in the process of being mugged), and a work stressed beat cop named Lucky Piquel, would see his fortunes change as he would become the first ever toon sworn into the L.A.P.D. Over the years he and his parner Lucky with the help of his fellow toon brethren would take down rogue toons and human criminals alike, and would also see partner changes hooking up with Hollywood PD officer Miranda Wright, and even oddly go through a design change in the transition.
Bonkers was one of my major cartoon crushes back in the day. Such a cute snuggly toon bobcat, looking so handsome in his officer shirt and no pants. and was definitely my first footpaw crush, which is unigue as they were one of the more drastic changes in his design alteration. His Lucky Piquell era episodes had him with big floppy feet like Bugs Bunny where his secondary lighter orange color hugged the top of his foot front and down the sides like a slipper, two pad dots on each sole. In the Raw Toonage/Miranda episodes they were much more simple in design basicaly near round shaped tan paws, 3 toed with either a single pad dot on the sole or a heart shaped pad on the sole. If i had to chose a style i prefer it would be the Bugs type foot. Today Bonkers still has a place in my heart. I wuv him sooooooo much and would love to be his beau. I mean who wouldnt want to snuggle up against his warm fur and kiss his big nose.....and footpaws. *blushes* Happy Belated 25th Birthday Bonkers, the sexiest toon cop on the force!
Now yesterday in 1992, we got a look into the current (at the time) life of that tall, silly and handsome doggo friend of Mickey's, Goofy. Goof Troop, portrayed Goofy, he second time around in his past 1950s era incarnation as family man George Geef, only this time around hes the Goofy we all know and love. Like the Geef days Goofy is once again plopped into the comfortable suburban, picket fenced life of a family patriarch, this time with his skater boy preteen son, Max, an updated version of his 1950s Geef son. One big change is the absence of his nameless faceless wife from the 1950s shorts making him a single father. The show also features Pete in a similar fashion only still with wife Peg, and two children, young Pistol and Max's friend PJ. The show basically featured mostly Pete trying dishonest ways to make money outside of his stereotypical used car dealership and Goofy inadvertently stopping it, or Max and PJ getting into trouble and getting out and so on and so forth.
I definitely loved this show as a kid and was definitely one of those who wanted Max and PJ as friends! And watching reruns later on helped me get a crush for Goofy as well as House of Mouse later. I did end up crushing on Maxx and PJ in the two Goofy Movies as they got older and Max definitely in House of Mouse. He looks so good in his valet outfit. Mmmm But yeah definitely crushed on both Goofs. Such cuties. And when barefoot.....huff to they got nice feet!
So Happy Belated Bday to Bonkers and Goof Troop, two great shows from my childhood!

Megaplex 2018 Con Report
Posted 7 years agoSo yet another Megaplex has come and gone and having waited until some of the PCD has ebbed away i thought id make a customary con report about it.
So i went to Megaplex on thursday and stayed till Monday morning. And for those of you have read my last con report for last years Megaplex im happy to say things went ALOT better. Alot of improvements were made to the con and there were some changes to my experience whic ill get into here.
First of all the improvements. As you may know Megaplex was held yet again at the Doubletree Orlando Resort at SeaWorld, which if you remember from my last report twas met with mixed reviews by the attendees last year due to outdoor only access to very part of the con space and the spread out feel of the con activities and room block. Now just to explain why that happened, the hotel was undergoing improvements in the form of an expansion to their conference and convention space which included an additional ballroom and panel space. However due to storms like Hurricane Matthew progress was delayed, even further after a failed code inspection which left the expansion unfinished come con time. This time around the construction was finished and its definitely what the con needed. It allowed for the dealers room and panels to be relocated from the lobby area building into the new con space thereby centralizing the con alot more. Another improvement was the registration badge pickup. Rather then have all the badge tiers line up and collect at once they gave each tier a 1/2 hour interval before starting the next tier. This made for less crowding and faster badge pickup, me only being in line for 10 minutes once sponsor opened.
So as i said, things were better and different for me this year, one of which being that i had one of the closest rooms to the con space, being in the building next to the con center. Last year my room was all the way on the opposite end of the hotel complex and i had to walk for like 5 to 10 minutes to get to the con space. This year was just a case of stepping out of my room, going down stairs and walking across a walkway and into the building. The only real walk i had to take was a minute or so to the tower building to go to th con suite. Another thing that was different was that i roomed by myself. Normally for Megaplex of any other con ive been to i usually room with friends, but this time they couldnt make it either due to money or boycotting the hotel. Honestly even tho there was a bit of loneliness every now and then in my room it was nice to have a space to myself where i could unwind. I also got to meet and see alot of the furry you-tubers i watch like Majira, Marks Barks, Kero the Wolf, Ace Of Hearts Fox, Quartz Husky, and so on. It was really cool having them all in one spot and i did get to talk to them a lil bit, especially Ace of Hearts Fox. Him and his GF are so cool! I also got to meet our GOH, Paco Panda. Hea a really sweet guy, a great fursuiter and an awesome artist!
So besides that i really didn't do much at Megaplex other than fursuiting, the parade, the pool party, etc. I've never been known to blow cash in the dealers hall or artist alley. I didnt go offsite to eat much or see the sights. I didn't go to any room parties, didn't bring anyone back to my room for snuggles or vica versa, didn't engage in any paw play even at the actual paw panel (tho that was mostly due to be being drowsy from a headache and the Advil i was taking for it). But honestly tho im not too bothered by it. at the end of the day it was just a getaway from the stresses ive had lately at home.
All in alll i had a fun time and im definitely looking forward to next year. For those who didn't like the current hotel worry no more. Megaplex is moving to a new spot and its bigger, and WAY better. Its the Caribe Orlando Hotel and Resort, a beautiful complex with three room buildings filled with suites as well as private villa buildings, and a killer pool area with waterfall and slide! I definitely cant wait and hopefully this will be a long term spot for the con.
