We came back from our vacation last week and have clawed our way through the backlog of messages, mails and bug reports. Just in time to enjoy the spooky season by working on the spooky forest! ^w^
In this weeks Devlog I'm writing about what kind of stuff I'm sketching up for the Wolf Village right now! :3

Devlog - 26/05/2025 - Shh! Be Vewy Vewy Quiet!

Here’s what we’ve been up to lately!
Planet 2 Environment Art
Besides working on new art for Haven, I also dusted off my “planet 2” environment art files. The core art for two of the four major biomes has already been done and can be seen in the preview levels for the goats and bears.
The forestry area is going to be “spooky” themed and is the home of the wolves and now for the bats, too.
My strategy is to create a couple of “sub biome” art sets for each main biome. Mixing and matching these is going to allow us to create different feels and vibes for the different areas while being pretty cost-efficient.
We used the same approach on the jungle: We have one core “temple” tileset and by mixing it with different existing or smaller, unique sets, we can create more places. By mixing in moss-huts and some other elements, like clotheslines, moss huts and other types of kobold trinkets, we can create the ruined kobold city beneath the tree-top village. Or, by adding just a couple of water-themed assets and using existing art in new ways, we were able to create the cisterns, which have a very distinct feel to them again. And those extra pieces of art we made for the cisterns are going to be reused yet again in another area!

Devlog - 27/03/2025 - Caught A Flu, But Squashed Those Bugs
General | Posted 8 months agoA flu wave hit us just as we were getting back on track. But it was just another type of bug to be fixed, though, and we've already bounced back and are on track again! ^w~
Kincaid Build 2025.02 + Update 3
On the initial release, a majority of the rooms were still very raw and undecorated. With the update, the rooms are now brought up to par!
We also hammered away at the remaining game breaking bugs. But if you do encounter anything weird (other than Kincaid's usual mischief) be sure to drop us a note and let us know. ^w~

I finally clawed my way out from under a never-ending mountain of messages, bug fixes, hotfixes, next-build prep, and all the real-life things that got sidelined during crunch. After that, we took a well-deserved (and very belated) winter break!
Now, I actually had some time to sit down and write another update! xD This draft has been sitting around for a while - it was originally meant to be our Happy New Year post.

Devlog - 11/18/2024 - Bats, Charms, Migrations and Even M...

This post was supposed to go out on the 18th, but some RL things came up and I didn't get around to putting the finishing touches on it like turning the video clips into GIFs etc. Sorry for the delay! ^w^
In between smaller art tasks, my main project is the long, tedious process of rendering the frames for the bat lewd!
Buuut once that animation is a wrap, the build will be pretty much complete!

Devlog - 09/23/2024 - Kincaid gets a Bat-itude adjustment...

After I wrapped up most of the VFX animations and environment concepts, I continued to work a lot on the lewd animation sequence for the upcoming bat enemy.
For obvious reasons, I can't share the progress, but here's a picture of a totally stealthy Sam Screecher.

I also write about a jamming device that will scramble Kincaid's Map until it is found and destroyed, some concepts for magical barriers to make arena fights possible and a bit of new art for our cistern environment!

Devlog - 09/09/2024 - Sludge, Slopes, and Secrets

The last two weeks were a bit of a struggle, to be honest! I got sick with either covid or a bad flu which made working really difficult and I took some time off as well. Around the same time bunny started feeling under the weather and had trouble with his eyesight.
We're both better now luckily and did make some progress!
I've been working on sprites for a new cutscene about a kobold who is looking for his missing friend and much more stuff.

Devlog - 08/26/2024 - Kincaid’s Corrosive pH’un Time
General | Posted a year agoIf you've played the old builds you might remember the acid pools we used in some areas! Since I was already in the zone with animating fluids for the water and waterfalls I thought it might be a good opportunity to get this out of the way, too!
After we decided on a general animation style, I animated it across the whole surface into a more chaotic acid bath with overlapping bubbles.

Reydam finished the illustration set for the game! It's super hot and looks looks absolutely stunning, especially the background is so colorful and pretty. We're all very happy with how it turned out!

My main focus was making the water and waterfalls look good and finalizing the assets.

The majority of the next build is going to take place right after Kincaid’s first rodeo with Kaha, in the dungeons deep beneath the kobold city.

I'm really stoked to give you guys a first look at Haven! Aside from the upcoming main Kincaid build, this is something we've been working on, on and off, iterating through different concepts.
This build is merely a playable mockup - something we made for ourselves to nail the flair we want to go for. There is not much gameplay aside from a few NPCs you can talk to.

It feels like it has been a little while since I wrote a regular devlog. After the latest release Bunny and I took some time off and soon after we worked on and released a hotfix that addressed some of the issues. Then it was right back to working on new cool stuff!
We also finished the Easter Hunt event and I had lots of fun drawing the sprites for the three winners! ^w^
