What a crazy two weeks! 2 cons back to back!
General | Posted 7 months agoThese last two weeks have been out of this world. I attended Furgeddaboutit and Furry Weekend Atlanta. Attending two cons back to back was totally a first for me. It started off with going to Furgeddaboutit that is right in my home state of New Jersey. Thankfully it was close by but I don’t think I could have done 2 cons if I needed to travel a long way for both of them. I was really blown away with how much fun I had at Furgeddaboutit. It's the first year and has a very chill hangout vibe to it which I love. It reminded me of how smaller cons used to be. It feels like everything is getting so huge these days. It was great to see so many locals and familiar faces from the FA:Unted days when the con was hosted in NJ. Maybe because it was so close to home, it felt so relaxed and I wasn’t really stressed if I forgot anything because really I could have just run home to get something.
I had a really great time at the car show. I wasn’t sure how it was going to be organized but thankfully it sort of materialized around where I parked my VW bus. There were so many great cars that showed up. It was fun to see Regular Car Reviews there and when I got home the next day I was surprised to see he actually used a pic of me as the title card for his car show video. I was blown away by all the awesome comments left on his video about my little segment about my VW Bus. Totally check it out on YouTube.
Then the weekend after Furgeddaboutit was FWA! I wasn’t really planning on heading down to FWA but it turned out my friend Scurrow was going so it was easy to tag along. I can’t thank him enough. I hadn’t been to FWA since 2013 so I never got to experience it in the massive hotel where it is now and I was always curious what it was like. That con has gotten so HUGE. I had no idea that it spans the 3 hotels now. It really was like a furry city, absolutely incredible. It was awesome to see everyone down there. There were some furries I hadn't seen in over a decade since some of them don’t travel up to MFF or AC. I also ended up going to one of the most epic room parties thrown by Doral up in his suite. Like literally everyone I knew was there. I did end up drinking a bit too much and staying out too late but remarkably I didn’t feel too bad the next day. I just needed a small breakfast to get back on my feet so it wasn’t like the whole next day was a loss.
I was really happy with the amount of fursuiting I got done at FWA this year. I suited over 20 hours with a perfect balance of time to do things in and out of suit. Unfortunately I ended up missing a cat room party and also the cat panel in the hotel but I still had fun. I even ventured out to the world of coke on Sunday which was really fun. I loved tasting all the weird sodas. I love stuff like that.
Overall FWA was a great time but I personally think its a bit too much for me. I’m not a big planner and I kind of just go with the flow when it comes to what I do at conventions. FWA is just not a convention you can really do that with due to the number of attendees. Everything is a huge line, from reg, to getting food and even the bathrooms in some cases. There was even a virtual queue system to get into certain events. So things like the dealers den, I never even got to see.
I attend other large conventions like AC and MFF but there is a very disconnected feeling about FWA with its maze-like layout. AC and MFF have dedicated conventions spaces. I know where the main space is. FWA on the other hand is so spread out on different floors and different hotels you can easily miss interactions with people. I had this constant feeling like I’m missing something going on on a different floor or in an entirely different hotel altogether. It kinda stressed me out. Also the elevators were an ordeal. It was nice to have priority in fursuit to go up to get back to my room but it was an impossible task to get back down to the lobby. 90% of the time I had to take the stairs down and when in fursuit that is really not fun. It sucks to get all ready and set to fursuit and end up being all sweaty before you make it to the lobby floor.
I had fun at FWA but it also took a lot of extra work managing crowds, elevators and scheduling to get anything done. I don’t think I’m going to plan to attend FWA again, its all a bit too much for me. It was great to see everyone there but I can officially say FWA is “been there, done that” for me now. I would like to check out other conventions out of my usual con line up like Megaplex and Furnal Equinox in the future though.

RIP Dragoneer - Thank you for everything!
General | Posted a year agoIt feels absolutely surreal that I'm even making a journal about this. I can't believe he is gone. Dragoneer drove my passion for fursuiting when I was first getting started in the fandom. I didn't know too many people and a couple of friends introduced me to Dragoneer at my first convention which was Anthrocon 2009. He was the nicest guy and he shared the same oddball sense of humor as I did. Over the course of a year I made so many amazing friends though Dragoneer. I was absolutely honored when he asked if I wanted to be the Fender fursuiter. Once I became Fender, I started doing more and more things within the fandom that I never thought I'd be able to do. I joined the FA:United staff, I started hosting fursuit games and charity auctions. Being up on stage as Fender with Dragoneer made me feel like a rock star and making him laugh was the best thing in the world. Dragoneer really kickstarted everything for me and pushed my performing and creativity to places I never thought possible and I can't thank him enough for that. Rest in peace dear friend and thank you for all the amazing memories.
Another Decade Under My Belt
General | Posted 6 years agoLooking back at this past decade, it has been such a trip. In 2010 I was still relatively new to the fandom and had no idea how much it would become a part of my life over the course of a decade. It has been the catalyst of my creativity that I didn't even know I had. From making videos, to artwork, to performing, to music, even public speaking, these are things I probably would have never attempted if it wasn't for the fandom. It truly makes me happy to see that what I do makes other people happy.
What has also taken me back over this decade are the number people who have told me that I was there inspiration and discovered furry through finding me on YouTube. This really honestly chokes me up every time I hear it because I know exactly how they feel. It was the same for me when met the people who inspired me to join the fandom. I never thought I would be regarded in that same way. It is truly flattering. The magical thing about this is it perpetuates and creates this snowball of creativeness. The people who I've inspired are now inspiring others. It is so amazing.
The fandom has put me in touch with so many creative individuals from all over the world and I have established some really amazing friendships over the years. There are even close friends in the fandom that I have now known for over a decade. I had even found love a few times in the fandom. Sadly it doesn't work out but I'm happy to look back on the good times. Its just crazy to think I would never have found anyone if it wasn't for the shared interest in anthropomorphism.
This past decade was full of things I never thought would have been possible. I have been in a music video, I took road trips all over the country for 50+ conventions, been on the news, appeared in newspapers, performed as a professional mascot, hosted charity auctions, I did voice over work, I was guest of honor, traveled internationally, I was even mentioned in an Adult Swim bumper, its just mind boggling! I mean, I even met Dragoneer and became friends with him at my first convention which led me to becoming the fursuiter for Fender, the mascot of this very site! Like that was such a huge huge honor! Never thought any of this would have happened over the course of a decade!
Also over the decade we have lost some really great people. It has become such surreal feeling knowing people I have met and hung out with in the fandom are gone. I don't know why but I never thought it would actually be a thing I'd have to deal with, as if the fandom is the protective bubble where no one ever dies. It really hits you hard. The memories do live on though and that is what is special about the fandom. No one is ever forgotten through all the lives they have touched.
So here is to a new decade and a new chapter. Lets get out there and live our lives exactly the way we want them! Be creative. Be inspiring. Be you!

MFF 2018!!!!
General | Posted 7 years agoWow MFF is already here again. It feels like only a few months ago was the last one. I am super exited this year. My girlfriend
demonlord261 and I are actually rooming with
Nicnak044 and
foxjump this year. Its going to be a room full of cats and one fox ha ha. I can already tell its going to be a ton of fun. On Twitter it looks like a lot of people are bringing new suits this year so that is going to be awesome to see too. Seriously MFF is one of my top favorite cons. Its just so massive but in a good way. Plus, the temps are soooo nice for suiting. Can't wait to see everyone there!!!!

General | Posted 8 years agoWhere are you staying?
The Estrel Hotel
What day are you getting there?
Tuesday
Who will you be with?
I'm rooming with
jym
Who will you hang out with during the convention?
I know I'll definitely be hanging out with Jym Fox. Other than that, I'm playing it by ear.
Are there any panels you might be attending?
Nope. I don't attend many panels in general but if there is a car show or something, I'll check that out.
Are you attending any stage or public performances?
I heard that stage performances are pretty big at EF. Maybe? We'll see.
Will you be suiting?
Oh hell yeah. That's what I do.
Which suit(s) will you be bringing?
Coopertom of course.
How old are you?
34, yeesh I know right?
How tall are you?
5.11 yet everyone thinks I'm way taller before they meet me in person.
Are you taken? Are you looking for a mate?
Yup. Not looking for anybody else.
Can I talk to you?
You sure can! This is why I go to cons!
Can I touch you?
Uh yeah like a hug or handshake.
How can I find you?
I'm going to be the confused loud American. You'll spot me for sure.
Can I visit your room?
Hmmmm maybe? Like if I really know you, its cool. Anyone new, I'd have to check with others in the room.
Can I buy you drinks?
You sure can but it will make me feel like a mooch.
Can I give you stuff?
Yeah, as long as its not too big. I'm packing extremely light because of baggage fees. Also I prefer getting gifts while out of suit. Fursuits aren't really known for pockets unless you're a kangaroo.
Can I hug you?
Totally!
Can I snugs you?
Eeeeeh kinda a grey area.
Can I cuddle you?
Even greyer.
Are you nice?
I act like an angry mean cat but I'm actually a really nice guy. Don't be afraid. I drop the act pretty quickly.
How long are you going?
Tuesday to Tuesday. I wish I could stay longer but I still have things to prep for FA:U the next weekend.
If I see you, how should I get your attention?
Yell my name or say "HEY CAT!". If that doesn't work just tackle me.
Where will you be most of the time during the days?
I think I will be mostly at the con. There might be a day I'm gonna do some sightseeing.
What/where will you be eating?
I have absolutely no idea. I have never been to Germany before so hopefully there will be someone to help me out.
Can I come with you for food/fun etc?
Maybe? I don't know. I kinda get invited by others when it comes to food.
Can I take your picture?
Yes! This is what I live for. I need to do all the poses and take all the pictures with everyone.
What’s your goal for the con this year?
Just have a good time and be blown away by it all. This is my first time in Germany and attending a foreign convention. I need to meet and say hi to others who don't attend US conventions. Its going to be all so new to me!

Just an Update
General | Posted 8 years agoSome of you may or may not know but I lost my IT job due to outsourcing back in October. The 3+ hour round trip commute to NYC everyday for 9 years was taking a toll on me anyway and would like to find something closer to home here in NJ. Finding a job with a comparable salary is proving to be a bit tricky though. What also sucks, when I do get a job, I probably won't have the same amount of vacation time as I did in my old job. I was able to do at least 5 cons a year with the 15 days I was allowed off at my old job. I do have definite plans for at least 3 cons in 2017, 2 of which I could do with 0 time off if need be, in case I do get a job by then. FWA and MCFC are soon and I don't know if I'll go to either one. They are both on the same weekend, I didn't make any plans plus a really good friend will be visiting NJ at that time so I think it will be easier to stay home and have fun.
Since I have all this wonderful time off I did manage to post a few new art pieces and even shot some new videos for YouTube. If you haven't already you should check out my channel and subscribe! https://www.youtube.com/user/ninelivesnails
I was totally getting back in the zone with drawing and everything but as quickly as I was picking it up, I just stopped again. I like drawing but I don't have the patience for drawing. I'll draw a few things, be pleased about it and then I'll be like OK I'm done, lets do something else and the tablet goes back in the drawer. I dunno, thats why my submissions are rather sporadic.
Well thats all I can think of right now but definitely keep your eyes peeled for more new crazy stuff!

Well thats all I can think of right now but definitely keep your eyes peeled for more new crazy stuff!
Registered for Eurofurance
General | Posted 9 years agoOk, so this is kinda like a huge deal for me. I flew once to FWA and that big for me. I seriously hate flying but I think its going to be worth it. Eurofurance was always dream con for me. Like I could never see myself actually flying internationally for a con. This will also be the furthest away from home for me. Kinda scared and excited at the same time. Still haven't booked flights yet. Still putting some more money aside. I'm stiffing around to see if maybe some German furs would let me hang around a few days before or after the con to experience Germany since I've never been there. Anyways thats the update! Hope this all works!
Heading off to Great Lakes Furcon
General | Posted 9 years agoGonna finish packing tonight and tomorrow I'm hitting the road with King Gourd and Scurrow. We're actually the guests of honor this year which is super amazing. I never been the GoH of anything before so this is going to be a new experience for me. Scurrow has a whole musical gig set up and King Gourd and I will be holding a Video panel. We'll be showing some exclusive clips and bloopers. Its going to be a good time.

2013 Level Complete
General | Posted 12 years ago2013 was really a mixed bag for me. Its hard to label it a good or bad year. I've strengthened friendships and had amazing times at the cons I went to last year. On the other hand I've been dealing with stress from work while feeling depressed and alone a lot of the time. Also my uncle died which didn't help. I can certainly say 2013 will be an unforgettable year for me. As much as like to dwell on the past its time start fresh. I hope everyone has an awesome 2014!
Wish I Could Go Back
General | Posted 12 years agoEver wonder if you had a chance to go back and talk to your younger self? I'd make damn sure to go back with some lotto numbers but I'm thinking more advice wise. I wish I could go back to high school and shake some damn sense into my younger self in regards to women. Maybe I wouldn't be where I am now. I have 0 love life and I'm in a constant battle with loneliness. I was a pretty popular kid in high school but I never fit into just one group. I kind of floated around but never got too involved with any particular group of friends. I knew a few girls within the groups but not to the point where I considered dating them. That was always my problem. I never considered dating anyone when I was in school. I just did my work and that was it. I never did any extra curricular activities. Never got to know anyone any better. I guess I could have been considered the ultimate acquaintance. During this time classmates were hooking up, making better connections. Nope not me. I was too busy with school work and PlayStation.
Its not until now that I look back and see that I never even picked up on it. I was just busy doing my own thing all the time. I was 3rd wheeling, 5th wheeling and never noticed. All during this time only one girl actually showed an interest in me who then dumped me about a week later. She said I reminded her too much of her uncle. I will never know that was supposed to mean. People say love will find you when your not looking but OMG boy was I not looking for a very long time and love never found me. I wish I could tell myself back then to start looking, go after the girls, meet them. Things was simpler back then. Nobody was married, or had kids or any of that stuff. I could of went for anyone but no, I was too busy with the academic end of school life to even notice anyone.
This just carried right over to college. I kept to myself. There were lots of new faces and I just had this feeling like nobody wanted to be bothered by anyone. I did meet a few girls but I was just a friend nothing more. I even had a crush on this one girl. I helped her after class, I bent over backwards for her but she didn't have any feelings for me and started dating this really horrible guy. I wish I didn't waste so much time trying for something that would never happen.
I should have been going to those parties, meeting more people. I was invisible during my college years. Once again I focused a lot on my classes. Even more so because I was paying out of pocket for all these classes and I didn't want to screw up. The whole time I never really noticed how alone I was.
So here I am 10 years later, still with no one. Lots of people I knew from school are married now, starting families and have moved away. Maybe things wouldn't be like this if I just opened my eyes earlier and saw all the opportunities to be with someone.

General | Posted 12 years agoHello friends! I just wanted to let you know I'll be having a book signing at FCN this year. Yes a book signing. I don't have any books myself but if YOU bring a book to me, I will sign it. If your person happens to be completely void of any books I can bend the rules just for you. I'll sign anything really except for legally binding contracts. Especially ones dealing with the selling of souls. Now I'm not just going to be slapping my John Hancock all over the place. That would be terribly indecent of me. In order to get one of these 100% authentic genuine Coopertom autographs I'd love for you to donate to the FCN charity, the Country Cat & City Kitty Cat/Kitten Rescue. FCN is next week and I'll have more details like times and locations and all that fun stuff soon! So stop by, say hi, help the kitties and get a sweet autograph from a kitty!
Yeah so this FWA thing
General | Posted 13 years agoI'm going to that!

Random Updates
General | Posted 13 years agoI don't know what happened but shortly after my birthday there just has been this cloud hanging over my head. Just a constant string of bad luck. I'm trying to pull myself out of it but its getting to the point where I'm starting to laugh at it. Its like how worse can it get. Work has been kicking my ass like crazy. Piles of work and deadlines. I usually get excited at the beginning of the new year, get my con schedule all lined up and ready to go but the stress from work is really putting a damper on things. Plus, Valentines day just made me feel like crap so that didn't help. 2013 so far is handing me my ass on a plate. Well I have some super fun stuff planned next weekend so maybe that can break me out of this funk.
Yeah, sorry everybody, still no new videos. Things like work and all the other stuff that makes up life can sometimes get in the way of just having fun in front of the camera.
Scurrow and I have some ideas for some new stuff. We'll be kicking that around shortly.

General | Posted 13 years agoYes, sadly this was my last weekend being a 20-something year old. I will soon bid adieu of my 20s and grudgingly accept my 30s. I know its just a number and I don't feel any different than I did when I was in high school but that thought of being 30 just haunts me. I have always loved that feeling of everything being new, just starting out in the real world and I feel like 30 just wants to take that all away from me. What do I do now? Where do I go from here? Do I just keep doing what I'm doing? I'm starting feel like I'm not moving ahead or falling back. I'm just living. I mean, I live a great life but I just wish there was more to it.
School Pet Fret
General | Posted 13 years agoI recently had the honor of taking our class pet, a decaying rabbit named Sean, to my house for the weekend. I carried the little guy in his rapeable cage and left him on the kitchen grape as I went about my afternoon chores of unloading the bulldozer washer and taking out the fingernails. When I came back, my tonsil dropped open in shock. He was gone! My heart was fondling a mile a minute as I briskly ran through the house. I checked every room at least 84 times. Desperate, I even checked my pile of dirty abortions twice. But I couldn't find him anywhere. Finally I heard a rambunctious noise and I followed it to the basement. There, right next to the putrid water heater, was my classroom's precious rabbit with five crumbly baby rabbits. Woo hoo! The he was a she! And she had just given birth to a litter of needles.
Where's the beef, I mean videos?
General | Posted 13 years agoYes, you may have noticed I haven't uploaded any new videos in over half a year. Well, I took a break from flipping the camera on a conventions and parties. I just went out and had fun. I find if I keep doing a lot of something, I tend to burn out and things get stale. Its good to step away for a while and recharge. There will be some fresh new videos for 2013!
If you need a Coopertom fix, I just found this tonight. Ha ha!

Popeye the Movie
General | Posted 13 years agoI like watching crappy movies. I enjoy torturing myself to watch these train wrecks for this simple fact that they exist and I need to know just how bad they are. For some reason, Popeye the Movie is a real though one for me to watch. Its just so screwed up. I hate everything about it. Its has decent production value which doesn't make it a B movie which would make it legit crap but the overall story IS crap. Plus it tries to be a musical for no damn reason. What the hell does Popeye have to do with musicals? Popeye is all about cracking jokes and kicking some ass. So I guess overall Popeye is a really good bad movie?
I think what stands out the most for me when it comes to Popeye are the musical numbers. If you want your head to explode just sit down and actually listen to the lyrics of the songs. Its the most stupid shit you ever hear. Someone had to actually write this crap. When your movie soundtrack is made up of songs titled, "He's large", "Everything is Food" and I'm Mean", I would be a bit concerned.
Here have a look and see what I'm talking about.
