General | Posted 15 years agoJust got home from the concert... It was AWESOME!! No word yet on just how much was raised, but hoping they got a LOT! There wasn't the crowd that we hoped for, but not too bad of a turn out. They had a lot of awesome things they sold in a silent auction... Binx even won tickets to the Pirate Festival in STL!
The Musical Blades (one of the groups that performed tonight) can't, by contract, give the official word, but we are pretty sure they will be on America's Got Talent! I'll let ya know "if" they made it.. yeah, I will pimp 'em out and beg for votes, but if you listen to them, doubt I'll have to beg too hard. :)

I'm a koala. I chose that because a koala appears to be all cute and cuddly, but can actually be very dangerous.
4 | What color is your fursona and why? Hair/fur/eyes/etc.
Mostly grey with a little white since that is normal color for koalas. I have long red hair and so does Corina. My eyes are teal because if I could have any color for my eyes, that's what they would be.
5 | What is your fursona's personality and how does this compare to your RL personality?
Corina is very innocent and outgoing, thinks the world loves her, and she is too cute to get in trouble. In RL, not innocent, but I am outgoing. And I don't rely on cuteness to save me.

General | Posted 15 years agoI have been thinking about what I want to do for my b-day.... ok, it is still 6 months away, but hey, wanted to do something special. I have decided I want to do a cubby party! Would be awesome if anyone near KCMO would want to come to it. Binx, my Daddy, will be there, along with a few others. Not sure exactly what day it will be, but sometime in January. Getting plenty of notice out in case anyone would like to come. Just let me know!

General | Posted 15 years agoHi Everyone. Just thought I'd take a minute and write a quick message about something very important to me. Last Fourth of July, I lost my sister Ann to breast cancer. (so if I seem a bit "off" for the next little while, please don't take it personally.) Since then I have become almost obsessed with the Pink Ribbon. I was just looking around on line and came across this really cool website:

They sell t-shirts and such to promote breast cancer awareness. I already have 3 picked out! Just thought I'd post a link to them since it is a fun way to promote Awareness.
Also too, I'm sure you guys are getting tired of hearing me talk about the Musical Blades, but I have to post about one more event they are doing, just in case anyone is near Kansas City and might be interested in a fun night spent raising money for this cause.
The concert is being called "Save the Treasure Chest!" The Musical Blades and the Jolly Rogers are 2 groups who are local pirate groups who will be performing. There is also going to be a group called Against All Will, a nationally known band making its KC debut. (one of the guys is the ex Puddle of Mudd cofounder!) Tickets are only $12 via http://www.ticketmaster.com/ or the http://www.beaumontkc.com/ $15 at the door... I have been involved in a small way on getting this set up and I know 100% of all money collected goes to the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Oh My! I almost forgot...

Also too, I'm sure you guys are getting tired of hearing me talk about the Musical Blades, but I have to post about one more event they are doing, just in case anyone is near Kansas City and might be interested in a fun night spent raising money for this cause.
The concert is being called "Save the Treasure Chest!" The Musical Blades and the Jolly Rogers are 2 groups who are local pirate groups who will be performing. There is also going to be a group called Against All Will, a nationally known band making its KC debut. (one of the guys is the ex Puddle of Mudd cofounder!) Tickets are only $12 via http://www.ticketmaster.com/ or the http://www.beaumontkc.com/ $15 at the door... I have been involved in a small way on getting this set up and I know 100% of all money collected goes to the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Oh My! I almost forgot...

Muscial Blades Benefit show
General | Posted 15 years agoI have just posted some pics taken at a benefit show this group did. The benefit was for Tim McCarthy. He saw a car on fire that the driver was still in. Without thought to his own safety, he reached in and pulled the teenager to safety... getting 2nd and 3rd degree burns on his hands and a forearm! Tim and his wife are expecting their first child soon, and he was off work due to his injuries. He had no short term disability so times got really tough for him and his wife. The Musical Blades knew him and wanted to do something to help them out. They have such a big fan base they knew putting on a show would draw a crowd... and it did! The benefit raised $3300 for Tim! (and none of the Blades got a dime!)

GW Exotic Animal Memorial Park
General | Posted 15 years agoHey. I have had many comments on the pics of the bears and wolves and tigers. I wanted to take a minute to tell about the Refuge we were at.
First, we got there by accident.... we missed our turn and didn't realize it until we were like 50 some miles past it! So we see a sign on the side of the road about this Animal Park. Having an animal fanatic and 3 Furries in the car (that was before I bacame one) naturally we HAD to stop. So we pull into this place that at first didn't appear to be all that much. We were greeted by one of the friendliest people I've met. She told us a bit about the park and explained the ticket options. I paid a little more so we could get the special tour and get to play with a baby tiger! After walking, or should I say wading, around the park, and taking the special tour I decided I had to make a donation. They operate pretty much on donations and have a hard time making ends meet; but that doesn't stop them from still trying to help every animal they can. (Including some of Michael Jackson's animals!) They appreciated it so much they offered to let us feed Ozzy the Bear. Which of course made Daddy's day!
We spent quite a bit of time talking with the owner and staff there. They are all wonderful people who genuinely care about each and every animal that finds its way there. They also operate on a lot of volunteer help. There is even an amazing guy there who pretty much wanted to give up on life, then he met Ozzy. Now he spends a lot of his time there. I will let you read about him if you go to the website.
Binx, myself, SpikeBlu, and Fun4MickeyMouse all plan to go back down and help out some... doing hard work around the grounds. But I think the rewards will be awesome! Knowing we are helping such wonderful creatures. And get to be so near them... maybe even get to pet them! Of course Daddy will have a hard time tearing me away from the wolves! That is if he could get away from the bears.... shhhh, don't tell him there is a new mama and baby there!
Which gets me to the point of this journal... Please take a minute to check out the website and if you can, help them out; there is even a place you can send a text message and make a $10 donation! COME ON FURRIES... LET'S HELP THEM OUT.
