Cows of FA become affiliated with The Herd! And other stuff!

In other news stuff, I was thinking about implementing watches to Cows of FA for all the members of the group. This would speed up the finding and posting of art, so will most likely happen "soon". I'm not sure how implementation of the favorites would work because we re-post images here so they pop up in your watch window. Favoriting (not a word) something defeats that purpose pretty quick. If something pops into my head about it you'll be the first to know! @u@

Now I know what your thinking, because I'm in the room with you (don't look around, I'm totally there). We put up a lot of artwork from all corners of the FurAffinity map, yet we are still missing other forms of cow entertainment. One of these that has started to pop up is stories. Already a few talented individuals have submitted bovine stories to us and I've had them on the back-burner till a general thumbnail could be created for them. Last night that thumbnail was completed by the lovely

What does this mean? Any time a story is submitted and posted this image will be used to show that it is a story! I felt this would not only aid users in finding stories in our gallery but also make it so we don't get that default Story picture that would kill the moooooood of the rest of the images.
So, what do you think? Let us know! @u@

I know updates on the site have been fairly slow as of late and I must apologize for this. The process of moving on my own is new to me and dealing with two landlords at the same time is a fun juggling act.
But no excuses! I just wanted everyone to know that i'll be attempting a more regular update schedule for the summer, which means most of you will be getting notes from me about art soon. YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE *cough* xxlarkxx *cough*
Notes are the fastest and easiest way to get something posted or to become a member of the group! @u@ Note away!
Quick edit: as many of you have most likely figured out, my memory span is about an hour, so if I message you for pictures when I already have before, be gentle. @n@

Undead and Vampires used to be different labels but the undead category was too small so I merged them. I KNOW IT'LL COME UP.

New list method on the way!
General | Posted 14 years agoHeya everybody! I just wanted to give an update on whats going on behind the scenes here, and just wanted to make a new journal entry SO SHOOT ME! @u@ But don't yet wait till I finish.
Maybe you'll forget.
Anyways, I've started making a new list of cows/bulls/taurens/hybrids/what-have-you with everyone in their own category. It's taking some time because I need to first verify that people on the list are IN FACT supposed to be there (i.e. are or have a cow fursona). Then I need to categorize them which, if they haven't done so already, is a nerve raking task cause I don't want to muss up and put a cow in the tauren group or vice versa. The groups will be pretty generic like the examples above. The hybrids might get subgroups but it depends on the variety and size. All in all it should make finding relevant pictures to YOU much easier.
I'm about 50% done, shouldn't be much longer now.
One snag is that some folks have cow characters that they used once or twice hidden away in their galleries that take a while to find and just putting a link to their page might make a search too daunting for some (RUN ON SENTENCE). One idea: after a few of THESE links will be other links directly to their cow/bull/tauren/hybrid character. This could make the already huge list even huger, however.

We're looking for reader input for the two, from looks to personality to clothing or anything else you can think of. Anything you feel you would like to see as a mascot for your species, be it cow, bovine, steer, or something in between, just let us know here in the comments!
And remember fellow moo'ers, no matter how now your brown cow is, your always welcome here!

Male Cows!

It has recently come to my attention that people are getting the overwhelming notion that this group is solely for the female bovine. Well, I can tell you that that is not the case! So, all you Male Bovine out there, or anyone who has drawn a male bovine before (That includes all the taurens and everything!) Submit your artwork you have done of male bovines! We will show the world that not just the female bovines are great! Moo!

I am now making an official journal about some simple contests that I'll be running here! We need our own Featured Submission, and ID! Also, if I can gather some money, I'll end up running a banner to direct traffic here!
YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE A COW TO ENTER ANY OF THE CONTESTS!
Contests:
Featured Submission:
We need a nice big piece of art that shows a lot of the cows of FA! We have a whole list at the bottom of every journal, with links to their pages! I will require that AT LEAST THREE of the cows from the club must be depicted. Other cow characters who aren't members may be depicted with them as well. Only one piece will win each time this contest is run, and I'll run it every few months or so, that way we can have a variety of nice arts on the featured! This contest will not be judged solely on artistic talent. Sometimes, the layout, feeling, and idea are more important. Therefor, all skill levels should enter! Every piece will be added to the gallery, but only one will be selected of the featured slot! Remember to ask the members permission to draw their character, though, I don't see that being a problem for anyone! Deadline and Judges will be set once I know there will be a good few entering!
Things to remember:
Atleast 3 members.
Colored is best, but any type is fine!
Must have text that says "Cows of FA!"
ID
Another of those awesome places to be showcased! In this contest, you can draw any amount of cows, member or not, one or one hundred! Just have fun with it! You can even draw yourself (if you are a cow) for it!
Things to remember:
Atleast 1 cow character.
Colored preferred, any type accepted.
Must say "Moo" on it somewhere!

So if someone can come up with a really interesting banner that everyone here at the club loves, then I will invest some of my own money in making the banner run, at least for a month, since that's probably all I can afford.

If you know of a cow fur or know someone who has drawn one or more of them, send them our way! It would be our honor to post pictures of cows from any and all artist who draws them! Also, if you ARE a cow fur, let us know and we will make a list of all the cow furs we know of on FA!
