Inktober 2019!
General | Posted 6 years agoMoney's tight this year, so with inktober coming up, I'm thinking of selling my individual pieces as I do them, this time. Physical dip-pen india ink drawings. Details are on my patreon. Feel free to comment with ideas and what not. I'm not sure how I'm going to be doing this, yet. https://www.patreon.com/posts/29700179
Life in Florida
General | Posted 6 years agoSo many of us live in Florida! I'm in the path of the hurricane, but I'm fairly in land (as far as 'in land' counts in Florida) so there's a chance I'll lose power, etc. when that thing hits. Keep your fingers crossed for us!
Patreon and Mini Comics!
General | Posted 6 years agoI finally done it! My patreon went live today.
I won't be doing any 'unlock the uncensored version on my patreon' stuff. But hopefully going there and throwing me a couple of dollars will be worth it to some of you!
My dad died back in Dec. 2016, and my little inheritance from him was going to stretch out forever, let me buy some neat stuff that I always wanted to add to my collections, or to make art in a different way (I did buy a little 3D Printer, but it's still sitting in it's box. Life changed. )
When I split up with my ex in November (that 3D Printer was ordered in October), I had to move, I'm renting in a more expensive area, etc. and that money from Dad has drained away way faster than I thought possible, so I don't have a choice but to try some other sources of income.

-Mini Comics-
As a patreon reward, and for sale at my etsy, and to take to cons, I'm doing a line of easier to make (but not by much!) mini comics that flesh out the story of my main comic. I'll eventually put them up digitally, but for now they only exist as physical copies. Nobody's going to get denied them, and they definitely aren't required reading for Sunshine.
The first two are already made (I'm taking them to the printer in just a moment, they're going to be assembled by hand). One is a conversation between Nicole and Dorian, after Lenny and his housemates are in bed, the night Jua took him out to eat. It gives a little more of them and their personalities, and lays some groundwork for stuff that'll happen later.
The other is a flashback to Jua and Lenny's childhood, one summer between school years, of them outside playing. We get a little of their relationship.
So, thank you a ton if you decide to support me monitarily, and thank you, regardless just for stopping in to read this. It means a lot to me that anyone cares at all!

Megaplex!
General | Posted 6 years agoTime's getting away from me, I didn't realize it's almost time for Megaplex!
I'm going to try to be at the artists alley each day, selling sketches, my coloring book, and hopefully, my first mini-comic! It's a tiny 8 page affair that deals with two side characters in my comic, Sunshine, in a scene following part of Chapter 2.
I'm already working on a second mini-comic, but I doubt it'll be done in time (but Maybe!) These books will be something I offer at conventions, and on Etsy, but also potentially on a Patreon!
I've got plans to start up a patreon cuz money's staying super tight, and any little bit helps. I won't be withholding any art from here, though. I've not yet figured out all the reward tiers and what not, but it won't be a case of me keeping secret art just for them. I don't think there's anything wrong with that model, and I'm not going to vilify artists who do special secret art for the ones who can pay, but as someone who usually can't pay, myself, I understand the frustration that causes. I'll keep everyone updated on that. Expect more news soon.
Also at Megaplex, I may be debuting my first con costume/fursuit! I got to get the eyes fixed, but otherwise, I'm pretty pleased with how he's looking! It's a partial. Head, hands, and tail so far. There may be more later though.
Anyway, that's enough news dump for one journal! Hope to see you all there!

Back from FWA!
General | Posted 6 years agoThe trip to this year's FWA was a brutal shit-show. A car breaking down, insurance issues, even getting the car towed to the mechanic was a nightmare that took longer than it should have. We were stranded in Florida on the Interstate for nearly three hours. That delay meant that the mechanic couldn't fix it on Thursday, even though, had we gotten there sooner, they probably could have, so we had to rent a car.
After all that, the convention itself was amazing. FWA's just the best! Also, I've been there a few times and actually recognize people and get recognized, now, which is amazing! I was so happy to see everyone again, and even though it cost us way more than it should have, given the troubles, I'm already itching to go back.
The scavenger hunt was super fun, and the con felt like it was ran just perfectly. I've never seen a shorter registration line!
I did some artist's alley and finally got some stuff through my thick skull, so I'll be better at it, next time. I picked up a couple of commissions that I'll be scanning and posting shortly, and I'm reinvigorated to get stuff done!
I didn't get my partial suit done this time, but it's so painfully close that next convention, whichever one it is, I should be debuting it!
He's a cougar, and I'll be posting some art of him soon!
...I think I also have Con plague. Oh well. Can't win them all.
To everyone I met: I hope I see you again soon!

3000!
General | Posted 6 years agoI can't believe that I've got 3000 people watching me! Thank you all so much!
It's humbling and amazing that you all want to see my work and/or read my comic.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.

FWA 2019!
General | Posted 6 years agoIt's a bit last minute, but I'm going to be at FWA this year! I'm going with
Marathebrave and we're both going to be doing Artist Alley! (go give her some love!) If I have even remotely enough time, I might try to throw together a fursuit head, and do a partial. I doubt I have time though. I do got all the stuff for it, then I, you know... lost my house, etc.
Anyway, I hope to see you all there! Come throw money at me! (or just say hi!)

Upcoming Art Sale and possible prints
General | Posted 7 years agoNow that I'm set up here in Florida, I'm gonna be posting some more original pieces up for sale. I love them all, but I can't hang on to everything forever! I'll be posting a set of a few pieces in the next few days, and after them, maybe a second set.
also, I'm considering offering a set of prints of my inktober works. Is there any interest in that?
Thank you for your time!

I've moved. Sort of.
General | Posted 7 years agoHi everyone, just a quick update to say I'm safely in Florida, but I still don't have any of my belongings, so I'm not back to working yet. My computer and belongings are still all on a truck somewhere! I should be getting them tomorrow, and after a day or two of unpacking, I should be back at it! I'll probably be opening commissions this week or next!
Moving Date - February 13
General | Posted 7 years agoSorry I've been quiet and less active here lately. I've set the date for my move, and it's coming up on us really fast. I'll be in Florida on February 13th! The last minute packing is going on right now, and after I get there, I have to wait for my stuff to arrive, then unloading all my stuff and setting it up.
After I'm settled in, I'll be making another commission push and what not. Also will be doing more of the comic, and all sorts of other things, but for the time being I'm a bit out of commission (especially since my computer is going to be on a truck for the next week or so.)

Happy Holidays, big life update, commission status
General | Posted 7 years agoHappy Holidays, everyone!
I'm going out of town in the morning for a week down in Florida with my best friend and her family. I'm excited and nervous, having never met the family before, and suddenly spending a big holiday with them.
I'm going to be closed for commissions for the next little while as a result. I might be able to work on my laptop, but it's not nearly as comfortable as I'd like, and the art always falls flat for me, Besides, it's the holidays, I should take a break.
Also, when I get back to NC, I have resume packing up my life. A few weeks ago, my girlfriend and I split up. We've been together for over a decade, and spent almost as long together in this house, so it's no small undertaking to get my stuff disentangled from hers. Also it's just... ugh. I have a lot of anxiety issues, and moving to a strange place miles and miles from home doesn't exactly make those issues go away.
I'll try to not let my art slip while this is all happening, but I may go silent here some during all this.
Regardless, I hope you all have a great holiday, and I think next year will be even better!

Art Sale Monday
General | Posted 7 years agoI'm gonna post up some originals (Traditional stuff) for sale on Monday! If there's any pieces in particular you guys want to see up for sale, let me know!
Upcoming Art Sale!
General | Posted 7 years agoI got too much original art just sitting around doing nothing, so I'm gonna be selling some, soon! If you want some of my originals, keep your eyes open! I'll be posting more, as soon as I figure out how I want to do this, and what pieces I want to put up first!
They make great gifts, too!

Going to be doing a Halloween 'YCH' or two!
General | Posted 7 years agoI really need to get the money flowing again here. My income's really drying up, so I'm gonna try my hand at a 'Your Character Here'. It's not something I've ever done before, but I'm excited.
Is anyone interested in me doing something like that?

Added a Ko-fi
General | Posted 7 years agoNothing excited, I just figured I could use a little extra cash, so I've thrown a ko-fi out there! I may do a patreon at some point, if I can figure out rewards and tiers that don't leave non-supporters feeling ripped off. No holding NSFW work hostage, etc.
Sketchbook is free!
General | Posted 7 years agohttps://sketchbook.com/
This is the program I use for all my digital work, and it's now free for everyone. Go grab it if you want it! I stand behind it 2000%, I've been using it for not quite a decade, and I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Personal update. Death in the family
General | Posted 7 years agoI was hoping to just hurry out the next page of my comic, but I'm worried there will be a slight delay.
My older brother (50) died tonight. He was ill for a long time, and we expected something soon, but this was still sudden and a bit shocking. My sister was visiting him when it happened. He got to die at home, which is good, but not much easier for us, regardless.
In the last 6 years I've lost my mom, my step mom, my brother-in-law, my dad, and now my brother, so I'm a bit...emotionally fragile right now. If I answer comments or notes in a weird way, I'm sorry. I'll try to not let my emotional stuff bleed through to here, but there's a real possibility it will, regardless.
Thank you all for taking the time to read this, and for paying attention my art, and leaving all the great supportive comments and things on my work in general. And for just following me, even if you don't say anything. It means a lot. I may have a bit of a slowdown with my work, but I may not. Sometimes it's how I cope.
Also, I hit 2,500 watchers without making a big fuss, partially because it snuck up on me, and partially because it feels weird and braggy to talk about it, but it means the world to me. Thank you all.

Kitten rescue!
General | Posted 8 years agoSunday night, there was a tornado warning in my area that I didn't know about. I went to watch Blade Runner 2049, and came out into a torrential downpour. Once I got home I could hear kittens crying from my living room.
I went and searched all around the house, but couldn't see them. They'd gotten under the house, and the crawlspace was all flooding with water (it was a really bad storm).
I crawled in there with them, to the lowest, tightest part of it, near the heat unit. My clearance was only about an inch or two, laying flat, in the mud and rain. The poor little guys were terrified and soaked, but after about an hour, I managed to catch them.
Their mother's a stray who lives in the neighborhood. My neighbor across the road feeds them all, but they're a pack, basically of all black cats. I can't tell which one is her, and none of them let us get close, so I don't know that I'll be able to get the kittens back to her. I've tried taking them outside to see her, but no takers. I think she may have left, or been in trouble when the storm hit.
Anyway, I have them, and they're adjusting really well, so far! Pics on my tumblr!

Pinku's dog was shot
General | Posted 8 years agohttps://www.gofundme.com/HelpTofuTheDog
I'm signal boosting her gofundme, cuz her poor dog was shot. it's to help cover her medical expenses.
PinkuShika was super awesome and encouraging to me when we met at FWA, despite me being a total stranger and pretty damned awkward to boot. If you can help her out, please do so.

Comic Update
General | Posted 8 years agoNow that I'm back from the convention and getting my commissions back under control, I'm working harder on the comic. I've just finished inking and scanned the next three pages. They still need clean up and lettering, but should be done soon!
Back from FWA (again!)
General | Posted 8 years agoI'm back home finally from FWA!
I actually made it home yesterday, and saw that my lawn had decided to grow like mad while I was away, so it took up more of my day than I wanted.
Anyway! The con!
This was my first time setting up a booth, ever. And I was SUPER nervous. Everyone was awesome to me, and encouraging. And I had a blast, despite my anxiety being at record levels through most of this!
I also got to meet some /amazing/ people.
toots brought over her part of our art trade by hand, and I was floored by it. It's gorgeous. She' as amazing in person as you'd expect!
Psy101 dropped by and was amazing. I'm SO glad to have finally met him!!!
Also so many more that I'm afraid that if I try to list them all, I'll miss someone. It was just a wave of people all weekend!!! Anyway, you were all fantastic, and I'm so glad to have met (or met again) all of you! I'm totally going to be doing this again. And again.

FWA! Commisions open again!
General | Posted 8 years agoI'm in the dealer's den at FWA right now, waiting on the doors to open. I'm super nervous...but this con is why I closed commissions. Now that it's here, I'm open again! Just throw me an email!
FWA 2017
General | Posted 9 years agoI'm going to be in the Dealer's Den in FWA this year!!
I feel insanely unprepared, but I'm taking the leap. I lost a lot of time with some tragedy in the family, so I'm cutting off commissions to play catch-up.
If you're going to be there, please drop by and say hello!

Personal Update
General | Posted 9 years agoSorry about the lack of content from me lately. A couple of weeks ago, my dad fell and was put into the hospital. At first, he seemed fine, but by Christmas, he was only occasionally lucid. He passed away on the 29th, and we had his funeral yesterday. I'll be getting back into things here more, but there may be a little delay. At least I'm home again, now.
Thank you all for taking time to read my posts, favorite or even just look at my art, comment, etc. This year will hopefully be better.
