Hey, is it wrong of me that I constantly look at other people's art in order to draw certain poses? I don't trace over or anything, I just scrutinize like, 10 to 20 pics while sketching something out...

Does this make me less of an artist?

It's been ages since I last posted a journal, but some of my closer watchers and friends know that I've been working on a portfolio so that I can attend the School of Art at George Mason University.

The portfolio review is on Saturday, and I am scheduled to drive up to Manassas on Friday night. However, that seems to be a pipe dream unless I can somehow conjure up a ton of money before tomorrow.

My car has a super rusted and leaking radiator, it needs three new tires, and I need to replace a melted tensioner and belt. In total, if I can pull off most of the repairs myself with no help from a mechanic, I'm looking at about at least $330 worth of parts.

Even if I can get just the tensioner and belt by today, it's a gamble if my car would survive a trip to Manassas and back with a rusted over and leaking radiator.

So, for the time being at least, it looks like I might have to give up on going to college for a little while longer...

Well, I've been trying to join the Navy, filling out paperwork, doing physical tasks and filling out more paperwork since September 2011. It's apparent to me now that they obviously don't want me, so I'm going to move in with my oldest brother and start college back up as soon as I can.

I walked out on my shitty ass job without quitting, so I'm gonna wind up getting fired. But I don't care, because that place was finally getting on my last nerve and I was seconds from snapping.

So here I sit, looking at what money I have and packing up my stuff before I move down to Lynchburg to rent my oldest brother's basement. He's put in a good word with his boss already so I'm pretty sure I'm gonna get a job there soon enough.

I plan on staying there only long enough to start my next semester at one of the local colleges (I picked the one with the best art program in the area), by that time I'll live on campus for one, maybe two years. Then I'll move into an apartment near the college because it's cheaper that way and finish up my degree(s).

So, yeah. Moving on Friday, things may go horribly wrong or amazingly terrific. Wish me luck with my first major step of moving out of my parent's house.

I can honestly say, I'm pretty stoked that I won't be working that day.

I don't have enough money to pay my phone bill and gas is really challenging to get right now as well.

I've been battling Bronchitis for the past week and a half and I missed way too many work days because of it. Now I have damn near no money at all and I don't know how I'm gonna pull through this time.

So I drive people to work and back from the laboring company to get a few extra dollars and because they temp at the same job I'm currently employed at.

I drive this elderly African-American gentleman who happens to be gay, about 63 years old, no big deal right? He pays me about $10 more than the usual passengers, but he does that with every driver. He starts giving me more money, so I'm like "Okay, cool. He doesn't have to, but it's a nice gesture." I tell him a few times that he can keep it if he wants, but he insists. For the past three months he gives me like, $40-$60 for driving him around. A very nice gesture, it helps with gas, but again it's not needed. But he insists, so I take it. Buy gas, repair my car, etc. I mentioned to him once or twice that "My woman gave me this necklace." and he apparently doesn't listen too well because I have a story to tell you.

I'm driving him home after work and after I drop off the other passengers, like I do every work night, and we're talking about saving money, etc. I mention that I'm saving money to go see my girlfriend, and he gets all quiet and somber. He goes on about how he can't give me money, he wants to give money to someone he can support and have a life with. Talking about how he was glad I was honest with him and that I should send my girl money to support her. Telling me that he still cares about me and "We can still be friends" and "Maybe we can still be together in the future. Telling me that he didn't want to be with me if I was gonna fool around behind his back and about how he had wanted me to move in with him. All somber and telling me again we can "still be friends" and he "Still cares" about me. Took like an hour before he got out of my car, almost in tears. After a long kinda break-up speech.

..... What the hell just happened?

I got my car fixed up and passed emissions and inspection, I had a fun time with my rusted muffler. I had to use a wrench, a screwdriver, and a hacksaw to get it off. Then I used rust desolvent and sandpaper to get enough rust off of it to put the new muffler on it. It was a fun trip guys, haha.

I still hate my job.

I failed the physical, but nothing to do with physically. I passed everything, but since I've had surgery done awhile back on a varicose vein I have to get a waiver to say I'm still good to go for the Navy. I signed a written statement telling them that I'm physically fit with no issues and that I can perform my duties with no problems. Now I have to wait to hear back from them.

Aside from this, I don't know what to report. Work has taken all of my time... I'm sorry that I haven't been drawing anything lately, : <

I got a job, I got my car fixed. I work the night shift so I literally have no time to do anything anymore...

Also, I leave for MEPS to take the physical for the Navy here in about an hour and 50 minutes! It's about time! D;<
