I'm starting with just taking 5 at a time so I don't overload myself, and can get these done quickly!

Disconnect for a day
General | Posted 11 years agoIt is my firm belief that people should take one day each week to shut off your phone, or leave it on for emergencies only, turn off the computer, and instead go outside and connect with your surroundings. Go for a hike, spend time with someone face to face, enjoy physical contact and each others company with NO distractions.
I do this every week on monday, and it does WONDERS for keeping my stress levels in check, as well as keeping me feeling refreshed and in touch with the world around me.
Don't get me wrong; it's great and wonderful what technology can do for us! It brings people together, it gets original and creative ideas exposure, it raises awareness and it fosters collaboration.
But in a world where so much is digital and virtual now, it's still extremely important to keep in touch with our planet and with others around you. You should be comfortable in your own skin, and comfortable when being alone. You shouldn't feel the need to share every single aspect of your life either. Some things that happen can not, and should not be shared except with those who have experienced it.
Just some food for thought...I'm not meaning to bash anyone here, just getting some things off my chest. Technology is a pretty big anxiety trigger for me, and I've been working hard to better overcome it.

Anyone else get so caught up in art that you forget the basic functions of human life? I forget to shower and go to the bathroom a lot too. By the time I'm done drawing for the day, I'm starving, smelly, and have a serious need to pee.

Folds in the stomach

Turns out, I have a sliding hiatal hernia and folds in my stomach. On the 23rd, I have to go for a test where they will essentially put me under and inflate my stomach. From there, we will find out if my stomach problems need medication, a change in diet habits, or surgery. :c
I know. I feel like it never ends with me lol.
BUT I'm looking on the bright side. Maybe it's just an ulcer.
EITHER WAY I'm super nervous about this test and I need a hug ;;

First night in my own house!
General | Posted 11 years agoYep, finally, the majority of the bigger projects that needed to be done are done, my bed is paid off and set up, and most of my stuff has been boxed up.
I'm now moving the important stuff down the the house to spend my first night there.
Oh god, you guys I'm so nervous D:
You must realize, we did not JUST move into a new house, we had to clean up, do a lot of work on the house and THEN move in. So this is kindof a relief to finally be able to stay there.
We do not yet have internet set up at the house, so I will be coming back to my parents house to do art commissions. Until then, contact with me will probably be pretty spotty - sorry about that!
I will let you know once we have everything set up, and my computer is down there.
I can't believe this is really happening...also my room looks hella depressing now that most of it is gone. :'c It's going to be a hard night...but also mixed with excitement. I hate changes D:

General | Posted 11 years agoSo, Dylan has Sundays and Mondays off from work, and I usually go over to sleep over his house for those 2 nights, and come home very early on Tuesday.
This particular weekend, my phone died on me, and I just didn't bother charging it. (I don't even use it that much anyways tbh) Last night, I had a vivid dream that I was gone for a few days, and when I returned, we had a new dog in the house. It was a Boxer, and Apollo was playing with him, and getting along very well, and I remember feeling so happy because I got to see Apollo so happy.

With a comment along the lines of 'Apollo and his new friends'
There was NO WAY I could have known Apollo met new dogs yesterday - even the SAME BREED as was in my dream...

Ahem...
My cousins who were renting the house previously, unfortunately, left the house a complete MESS. Like...honestly, it's really bad :c
This past week, we have been /incredibly/ busy with cleaning, scrubbing and disinfecting everything. There is also a lot to fix as the house has been beat to hell, and never upkept...
It is paying off though! Already the house is looking SO much better...just the rest of the basement, the attic and the painting left to do before we can move our stuff in, and then we need to replace some of the fencing and rebuild the side porch!
I would like to thank everyone who bought one of my sketches from my big sketch sale a week or so ago...that extra money REALLY helped us out ;o; and I appreciate it so much.
I will be working a bit more slowly until we are finished with everything, but we are expecting to be all set up and ready to go in about 2 or 3 weeks, and then you will start to see more regular submissions from me again!

General | Posted 11 years agobad news: I don't think I'll be making Anthrocon this year (again!) and believe me, this REALLY kills me :C
BUT... Dylan can't get off work, and honestly, doesn't want to, because we are officially moving in the first or second week of June. (! This is the good news!) and we could really use the $$$
That being said, we got furniture, and I just put money down on my first queen mattress xD I'm really excited.
All the money we make next month and up until August will be going into a savings, as we don't need to pay rent for the first couple months.
In the meantime, I've been keeping busy with commissions to prepare for this move, and my new commission and art manager
Fayroe is helping me to reach new productivity heights!
Everyone please go and give him a giant hug!
He made me a spiffy organizational chart, and will periodically take on the responsibility of accepting commissions next month, and will update it for me so I don't have to stress myself out too much!

It's gunna be a house too, not an apartment, so Apollo can come with me, and there's a nice big fenced in yard for him to romp around in as well (:
Not gunna lie though, I'm extremely nervous :c
Money is my biggest stress factor. I should be fine...but I can't help but worry xD I'll have to take regular monthly commissions for the next roughly 4 years (since that's when the mortgage will be paid off and then we'll only have to worry about the bills and food.)
I'll be able to make AC this year IF I finish my current work list, and open up for 3 full commissions! I'd really like to go this year...since I missed last year :C
I also have LOTS of fun stuff planned for this summer, including many visits to Dylan's cabin (maybe we should have a furry cabin weekend for you locals? ;D )
What plans do YOU have for the summer? haha I guess I'm just so freakin' happy that winter is over! This one was a doozy :P

General | Posted 11 years agoFor a very long time, I held lots of grudges against myself: I can be clingy sometimes, my butt is too big, my boobs are too small, I never grew up in a house with a lot of money, ect...but ever since my falling out of the fandom and friends (I'm back now guys, don't worry, I just had to find myself.) I've learned (quite by accident) how to love myself and to celebrate and love all my flaws (physical AND mental) for what they are: quirks that make me who I am. Because in the end, I can't be anyone else but myself. I am so lucky to have a boyfriend that takes the time to compliment me on my personally declared 'flaws'. (My big butt is his most favorite thing of all xD)
I've learned from the people who have stuck by me, the most important thing of all. I am loved. ALL of me is loved. And hell, if my weirdness attracted such wonderful and amazing people to me...then it must be something great (:
