Get me a ticket for an aeroplane~
General | Posted 10 years agoMan! I can't believe we're only two weeks out from shiny pony time at Frolicon in Atlanta. Oh there shall be many many many pics of shiny pony I suspect. Some of which will end up here with most ending up on the -other- site for shiny rubber pony.
The 65 Mustang is long gone at this point. Honestly nothing feels different for me on that front other than watching an episode of Counting Cars where they worked on a 67 Mustang was something I couldn't make it through. Aside from that the funds replenished my savings, paid for the last of the pony gear annnd got me a few parts on order which have arrived... now I just need to have a few weekends to work on it when mom isn't barging in to make me fix things on the house and the condo like usual. :P
Work has still been kind of hit and miss. Basically I burned through all my saved up vacation to avoid running short on hours and short on checks. The flipside is they gave me the biggest raise I've seen yet which is saying something since those are percentage based and inherently quite a bit more as I keep climbing the compensation ladder. Now if we can get the house sold and kill the loans on that and the condo I might actually get to do something with that raise...
Sharks are gonna miss the playoffs for the first time in 10 years or so. I'd love to say I'm shocked or saddened by it, but I was expecting them to suck this year so no biggie. Plus I'm being good about not spending a damn dime on them after that playoff collapse last year which was my sworn goal.
Still sticking with/increasing workouts. Not doing anything crazy with it, but I'm supposed to be doing them daily and it's taken me two months to ramp up to being able to do that and not be gimpy as all fuck for the next couple of days after. It's nice to see my recovery time has improved so much and stamina is coming around that I don't need to take as many breaks. Can't believe it's been almost 4 months without Carl's Jr, Wendy's or Popeyes! I miss my old friends!... actually that's not true I don't feel the urges so badly anymore for it now that things are normalizing.

Putting it to pasture.
General | Posted 11 years agoSpent today up at the house trying to get the 65 sold and it seems I have a deal in place. We'll close it out next weekend when the timing works out better but he likes the car and is giving me what I'm asking for it. I'm not really disappointed about giving up the car, more that I'm disappointed at being in a situation where I don't see a point to having the car anymore. I don't have the time, the budget or really a place to keep multiple projects. It's been depressing letting go of my toys to always "do the right thing" in the name of responsibility.
I hopped on a scale today too. It's the first time in a long time I've done that. I've always battled with myself about weight and moving didn't help with the loss of hockey and hobbies I was trending the wrong direction. There was a point where my belt buckle was starting to dig into my gut enough to be painful so I had to decide to either get a new buckle or bigger belt, and just let things keep trending that way. Rather than give in I decided to make changes. I dropped soda as a mainstay (although I had switched to diet for a while) eventually realizing there's just no value in it. I'd been good about doing salads each day but was being bad about "padding" them with a ton of bread to be full. So the bread was the next thing to go. Now since the start of the year I've given up fast food. That's been a hard one because face it, I was hitting Popeye's and Carl's Jr once a week with regularity. I just had a moment where I realized how bad it tastes and how little value it has, so that's been the next big step. Anyway when I was fighting my buckle I'm pretty sure I was close to 260 pounds as I'd stopped paying attention after 250 since it was depressing. Today when I looked I was down to 220. I can't -ever- remember being under 230, not even through high school, so this is.. just damn weird for me. Anyway it's just part of my effort to earn all the rubber and gear I've got. ;)
Now, along those lines, it seems the last part of my pony gear is finished. Once again Fury comes through with some of the most epically awesome gear a pony could hope for. I can't wait until it gets here so I can get more fun pics for folks to gawk at. Behold harnessy goodness!

It's so taxing....
General | Posted 11 years agoUgh, what a bitch of a month.
Got my taxes figured out and I owe a decent chunk for Federal and state this year, largely due to the penalty in cashing out my old 401K early so I could get the car paid off when the renters moved out of the condo.
Work has come up light as well so I'm burning off some vacation time to fill out my time sheet. I don't have the budget to do anything with that time off anyway so it's not *that* big of a deal.
The house listing expires in a week. We've not had even one inquiry in six months on the property aside from the little old couple that checked it out in the first two weeks, otherwise nah~dah. We'll go dark on the sale for a month to clear the listing then hop on for the spring/summer months when the popular season for sales up there comes in.
On the pony front, apparently Fury is already working on my harness, which surprised me. We had talked about it but never exchanged money or set a start date. They continue to be awesome in standing by a simple gentlemen's agreement so far. :)
Conventions, still set up to hit Frolicon in Atlanta at the start of April and then BLFC in Reno in May, that's it for now on that side of things.
Going to take a stab at listing the 65. If the house sells I'm going to have nowhere to store it aaaand frankly I've had the car for five years or so, drive it half a dozen times a year and have zilch for a budget to restore it (unless the house sells, hello catch 22!) http://redding.craigslist.org/cto/4889660615.html

FC weekend update
General | Posted 11 years agoMan things swing in a hurry here. Before the weekend I got two heavy deadlines dropped on me so I've been pulling 10-12 hour days since Friday (although took Sat as a me day) which means I'll hit my 40 for the week sometime tomorrow. I know they don't want me around piling up the OT so it looks like I'll be free Friday and maybe most of Thurs. I just have nothing set up for crash space since I didn't expect to have the weekend clear.
I've got a couple of loose offers but I'm not sure they still stand.
Aside from that, maybe I'll see folks there this weekend if I get something squared away.

Notes to kick off 2015.
General | Posted 11 years agoSurvived the holidays, Christmas and New Years were the usual do nothing days. I had enough work to avoid burning vacation to bridge the days after at least.
So on that note. I have no official plans to go to Further Confusion. I might drive down Friday to hit a couple of parties (mostly squeaky) and hang around Saturday. If the weather's nice I'll probably take a drive out to the coast along the old circuit I used to run out to Whale City Bakery with the Mach1.
First con coming up for me will be Frolicon out in Atlanta, GA. It's close to the weekend of FWA but a fet con instead so it'll be fun to go rubberpony there for the weekend.
Second con is still up in the air, I'll either do BLFC in May or Confuzzled. I found a really nice price on airfare to the UK but that's a big step for me since I've never been out of the country before. Heck I still have to get a passport! If I go Confuzzled I'll be in the UK for two weeks, arriving a week before the con to visit folks and cling to
wolfpawz because I'm kind of sweet on him. So n'yah.
If I do the Confuzzled plan, I'll be short enough on vacation time that I probably wont hit another con until Rainfurrest and MFF, assuming I don't have to pick one over the other (in which case it'd be MFF).
A whole lot of this can change over the course of the year depending on how things go with selling the house. If it sells my budget will be soooo much healthier finally and I think you'll see a lot more of me.
As for other things. Someone at work flagged it to my attention that we have a seasonal ice rink up here outdoors near Shasta. I've managed to get up north to play a few games and it's just friggin awesome playing hockey outdoors in the shadow of snow covered mountains ( https://www.dropbox.com/s/h31utw47a.....0265.JPG?dl=0) . :)
Last year, during the year I shifted things in my diet. I dropped soda at home, diet or otherwise and try to make sure I hit fast food less. Eventually I'd like to kick that habit altogether but it's harder than it sounds when you've been conditioned to it. I've done the salad for lunch daily thing for a few years now to try and alter my diet, but I was "padding" them with big servings of bread to avoid feeling hungry. I've since dropped the bread so lunch is pretty much down to salad and water which is something I think I've finally adjusted to. If it seems like I lost weight (in the Hawaii pictures) that'd probably be why.
The second part of that, heading into this year is I need to flat out get off my duff and exercise. Hell I'm tired of having moobs because they don't go so well with rubber critters... anyway I'm trying to be good about being more active and changing culture/lifestyle and such because the things (or lack thereof) I've been doing are just slowly killing me. I owe it to be better to myself and give you all a nice tight n shiny pony to check out. I guess we'll see how things are going in a few months.
And on the car front, haven't done much since it's winter and it's fricken cold here! I did decide to try out the video feature in my camera though and shoot a quick vid of the 89 now that I've got the Flowmasters and dumps on it. Enjoy boring car vid! http://vid53.photobucket.com/albums.....psa0a3ok6t.mp4

I'm so popular my icon is stolenz?!
General | Posted 11 years agoHuh. Oz roo pointed out https://twitter.com/BookerFurr/media to me. Something oddly familiar about that icon....
Seeing as I'm not on Twitter I can't very well bark at them for it. So is it even worth the bother of bitchslapping them or not... hmmm.... I'd have to join Twitter for that I suspect.
EDIT: Seems like they changed it, which is good. *nods*

Karmic readjustment.
General | Posted 11 years agoI was all like bouncy and happy this morning to see my bill for the room at MFF come off my card. Sadly that karmic kick in the nuts that I'm always due when things actually go right kicked in less that 12 hours later. Apparently my property manager that was handling the condo messed up on paying an invoice to a contractor and instead sent the money to me a couple months ago. I assumed it was the last bit of rent from the tenants. Regardless I've got to pull $470 out of my ass for that, so there's the karmic readjustment. Also, the tile repair they did that I'm getting charged for as part of this, already broke again. Fun stuff. Meh.
Holy~crepe~whatta~crazy~week~MFF!
General | Posted 11 years agoWow what a busy busy week.
I shot down to SFO Wednesday to hop a redeye out to Chicago and running on very little sleep, got in Thursday morning. The room was ready so I crashed for a bit and then started suiting in the good ol, world beaten fox while I waited for the roomies to arrive. It was a mostly relaxing day and not much happened other than running around in suit and re-connecting with folks. There was a rubberfurs party that night but I was tired enough that I didn't get up to squeaking, just stopped by in fursuit instead and promised to make up for it the next night.
Friday I tried to catch up on sleep a bit and suited again before getting my gear together for the hockey event. I brought most of my gear this year so I didn't have to borrow as much stuff. The skill level was pretty even and everyone kept up. Physically it's been so long since I skated or was that active that it hurt quite a bit to play again, and I certainly felt it the rest of the con. After we got back from hockey, I killed a bit more time before finally suiting up in the rubber and pony gear. It's not easy to get into all of it, but it was nice to finally get all four hooves on and be wrapped proper. The rubberfur party had moved and was two rooms over from mine, so it worked out nicely like that. I only popped in for a moment, maybe 30 minutes before I went back to my room since things were getting... frisky in there. That's when Heffboom was nice enough to snap this pic: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/15182457/ before I de-suited. After that I ran off to the inflatables party to hang out and drink beer. Made it back to the room and passed out, etc.
Saturday was more suiting, running around and catching up with folks. Nothing of monumental note that day. We did got out to Gibson's for steak that night and it was damn good. The upside was I was well fed and taken care of by the time "THE EVENT TO END ALL CONS". I was chilling and drinking beer on the first floor when the word came through to evacuate. Eventually the alarms went off and we hustled through the lobby. I could smell chlorine, so I knew it wasn't a false alarm like most con events end up being. I ended up running into two of my roomies outside and the other reached me by phone so I knew we were out. Otherwise I shuffled with the herd into the convention center where we all cuddled together for warmth and sang campfire songs together while burning down the dog show... those poor dogs... also.. seeing some of the folks forced out in squeaky gear.. I was actually kinda jealous. >.> Anyway I made it back to the room by 5am to sleep and managed to get a few hours before I woke up.
Sunday was more running around, again not much of note aside from the running about in suit and hanging out. My roomies all checked out that day though which left me alone for the night. As dead dog set in I had some fun locking a certain plush suit on someone aaaand then eventually going back to the room on my own to clean things up and get packed. I stayed up way too late, and only barely slept before I was up again. I spent the extra time in the morning trying to get the room super tidy before checking out for my flight.
http://t.co/D8A2NQWk17 ~ and it would seem according to this... that I am now a god of cleanliness for my troubles, cause 1034 was mah room! *snoopydance* It just goes to show, all it takes is a little anal dedication to keeping the room neat, kicking everyone else out a day earlier, and leaving like a $500 bribe... err tip to the maid... (actually I did tip, but it wasn't at all unreasonable and bribe like). Worth mentioning. We have four guys in the room, a roll away bed, my hockey gear, two of us had rubber (and believe me that rubbering makes a mess of things) and my fox sheds... so yeah I worked hard to stay ahead of the mess and make sure we got out clean. :3
Monday I flew back, which was an event in it's own. While we were boarding the plane some lady collapsed off to the side. Just fainted away. A couple of folks rushed to help her so I stayed out of the way on that one, but it was still not good to see. The drive back home was fine, but again reminds me that travel to cons is just a pain in the ass with a four to five hour flight and four to five hours of driving. It's getting harder to make that work comfortably. At least when I got home notice was there that my rubber pup hood had cleared customs finally.
I snagged the hood the next day, slogged through work and then got home, rubbered up, and then tried Livestream for about four hours. It was awesome, and I'll have to do it again. That's where http://www.furaffinity.net/view/15192274/ this guy came from. Just when I thought I'd gotten geared out for the weekend, the folks at Fantasy Fury contacted me today with a pic of my pony mask https://www.dropbox.com/s/e1opf7mvm.....I0005.jpg?dl=0 , which they say is ready to ship! So it looks like I'll have some rubber pony pics proper by FC... or at FC... if I go. >.>

MFF the foretelling!
General | Posted 11 years agoWhere are you staying?
The Hyatt where they're having the con supposedly, crazy that.
What day are you getting there?
Good gawd early Thursday thanks to a redeye Wednesday night.
Who will you be rooming with?
geenz and his significant other type, and Tyrin
Who will you hang out with during the convention?
Anyone fast enough to grab my keys and keep me on a leash apparently.
Are there any panels you might be attending?
Anything that might be squeaky or inflatable...
Will you be suiting?
Fuzzy or squeaky? Either or!
What is your gender?
Butch. Hockey player. Fold you in half if you look at me wrong?
How tall are you?
6 foot or so.
Are you taken? Are you looking for a 'mate'?
That's a topic of great debate on all fronts.
Can I talk to you?
Probably!
Can I touch you?
You like your arms attached right? Ask first, even if rubbery. >.>
How can I find you?
If I want to be found I'll have one of the #2 Crosscheck jerseys on. Otherwise just gotta know mah phone digits.
Can I visit your room?
Maybe, but we're a crowded room so don't weird us out or nothin!
Can I buy you drinks?
Duh!
Can I give you stuff?
Depends on what that be!
Can I hug or snuggle with you?
Some folks got a pass on this already, but I'm not as arm rippy offy as some folks think if you ask.
Are you nice?
Previous comment. I'm maybe not as arm rippy offy as I tend to look, but sometimes I aaaaam. I might even be nice.
How long are you going?
Thursday to Monday. Taking off not stupid early on Monday this time so I can maybe recover from possible dead dog hangover...
Do you have an artist table?
Hahaha. No.
Will you be going to parties?
Mostly squeaky ones, but yes.
Will you be performing?
Wow, that could mean all kinds of things! :D
If I see you, how should I get your attention?
Cross works, long as you shout it or something but not in my ear because that's when arms get ripped off.
Where will you be most of the time during the day/s?
Possibly walking around, maybe out skating, or indisposed in secret locations locked away securely depending on things.
What/where will you be eating?
Probably food! I've got some high points to hit, but we'll see if those work out. The hotel restaurant isn't bad either yannow!
Can I come with you for food/fun/etc?
Also probable. Although inevitably I seem to end up eating alone in the room some time or another so n'yah!
Can I take your picture?
In suit yah, out of suit if you're sly enough that I either don't notice or that I do notice and still permit it by not being an ass.
What's your goal(s) for the con this year?
Hockey and squeaky stuff, the rest we'll see.
The Hyatt where they're having the con supposedly, crazy that.
What day are you getting there?
Good gawd early Thursday thanks to a redeye Wednesday night.
Who will you be rooming with?
geenz and his significant other type, and TyrinWho will you hang out with during the convention?
Duh!

Hawai'i 5.0
General | Posted 11 years agoWell... with the help of
diadexxus who had to burn up some vacation time, I was in Hawaii last weekend. Oddly enough this brings things full circle since the records on my convertible (the 5.0 Mustang) showed the car being registered in Hawaii for about three years. As such I always wanted to make it out there so that I could say more than just my car had been there.
It was a quick turn around on the vacation since I just got back from Utah for the ST Octane Academy. It~was~awesome! We showed up, they fed us the night before the event, and the next morning put us in helmets and race suits then took us out to the cars. A fleet of Focus and Fiesta STs with full cages and four point belts but otherwise stock so that we could get a real feel for "our" cars. They ran us through a varying array of challenges which included learning how to forward 180 the car, reverse 180 the car and slide into a parking "box". All of this was used later in the day for an auto-X course. In between sessions on the auto-x course they let us go out on the racetrack and turn laps at full clip. We alternated through that till the last session of the day when our instructors took us out for "hot laps" where the professionals whipped us around for a couple of laps as passengers which was pretty damn amazing.
I hung around in Utah for Unthrocon the weekend after the track day. The hotel was awesome but the con was pretty dead. With the layout of the space and the programming it felt like there were maybe 3 people in the halls at any one given time. I know they had better numbers but it was the sort of con that would've done better with the open room format BLFC uses. I gather that it's great for locals, but it certainly wasn't worth the trip to Utah just for the con. Salt Lake City had enough blighted areas that I immediately felt like I was back in Sacramento. That's not a good thing.
Coming back from that I barely had time to settle in before meeting up with Dia to hop on a plane out to Honolulu. Long flight but maaaaan Oahu was pretty. I think that's the first time I've had a vacation where I felt like I had managed to get away and the days didn't feel hurried, despite how fast they went by. We used a rental car to explore the island and get away from the tourist trap of downtown/Waikiki. We generally picked random places to stop when it looked pretty and took pictures or checked out the water. We bought some snorkeling gear too which was new for me as I've never snorkeled before. Heck I've barely even done swimming since I was a kid (although I was fully trained back then). After easing into it at Hanauma Bay we ended up snorkeling around the island for three days with some kayaking mixed in thanks to
shoreleave I could ramble on about the details but I'll just put this up and let y'all figure it out.
Combined pictures from Dia and me ~ https://www.flickr.com/photos/diade.....7648997026168/
There's quite a few pics in there from Pearl harbor too which is someplace I've always felt I had to visit. I've been a WWII buff since I was a kid and the Arizona was on my bucket list for sure. It was kind a surreal moment taking it all in. Having the USS Missouri on site now docked next to it was a nice touch as you have the two places where the war for the US began and ended.
Barely touching down here before we break for Thanksgiving and then off to MFF in less than a couple of weeks. Crazy busy with vacation and work this month!
Hugs to
Kennifox who we were supposed to meet up with on the island but the day we got there a car hit him while he was on his moped. We stopped by the hospital on Saturday to say hello and check up on him. I'll have to get out to the island again sometime to make a proper visit instead of a hospital trip!

General | Posted 11 years agoAlright, under a month to go for the ST Octane Academny/Unthrocon in SLC on Halloween weekend. So far I'm going it alone it seems. I have room and car space available for that one and enough vacation saved up that I'd be really shocked if work finds a way to hose me out of that trip so I consider that one a lock at this point.
MFF update, the airfare is paid for and I've got a room now. Either the block expanded and they didn't say anything or I got lucky enough to catch a cancellation in the system and snatch it up. If someone's looking for roomspace in the Hyatt I'll be there Thursday morning and leaving Monday. The room is a king bed from what it says so you'll have to live with floor or being cuddly with meeeee *swoon*.
Work continues to be... interesting. I'm staying busy, and I'm well outside the line of fire from what corporate will be looking for, but we've had kind of a running tour of the big wigs coming through to explain things and try to make folks feel better (it's not helping so far). At this point we wont know if they hit their volunteer retirement package target or not until the day it's supposed to happen. There's legal reasons for it I'm told but it's kind of hard to plan when basically the folks trying to get it and even our own managers wont know who's leaving until the 3rd of Nov, and then on the 4th those people are supposed to be out the door. It's been putting a lot of stress on folks trying to align project work, but that's above my pay grade so it's okay.

Foxtoberfest!
General | Posted 11 years agoAlrighty, with the coming Foxtober month ahead... I am registered for Unthrocon in Salt Lake City over Halloween weekend. I have a room, which while not stupidly expensive, it would be nice to split room costs on that. I can drag someone along from Cali in the car mostly likely too since I'm driving out to the con. Now there's a catch to this too. I'm leaving Wednesday or Tuesday to drive out there. On the way there I (we?) stop at Miller Autosports park outside of SLC for a complimentary dinner and introduction. The next day I'm back at the track for the STOctaneAcademy track day stuff. I am allowed to bring one guest for free and that guest gets to watch the main parts of things, get free lunch and at the end of the day drive karts with everyone else. All for freeeeee, as long as I drag you along anyway.... So lemmee know if anyone else is up for a visit to Salt Lake City over Halloween. :D
MFF, plane tickets are purchased (Holy hell a direct flight from the west coast for under $250!) but I've had no luck finding a room to split or getting one of my own in the main hotel. Any leads would be appreciated before we get to crunch time.
Now ~ Real fun. Last week we got a "What do you think of your supervisor and company" survey sort of email. I thought it strange but nothing alarming. Monday was quiet... but at the end of the day our CEO mailed out a video. This is unusual, so this time I didn't just blow it off. Watching it.... wasn't fun. It explains losses by the company and works out a plan to correct things. The first point they harped on was cutting overhead. This involved the phrase "reducing our global headcount" several times. So basically it's a fancy way of announcing layoffs. I'm not worried about this as I'm too critical to my office and the company at this point. There are several others that would be in their sights before me and the company is encouraging the older staff to take retirement since some have been hanging on probably past their time. The second part was that they're putting a limit/reduction in how much stock you can sell off. The company stock is internal which means all the money for it comes out of company capital, so a run on the stock sucks the cash out of the company basically. (Nevermind our old CEO left this year and took like a $15million dollar payout on it before the stock dropped drastically in price...) They also sent out an email asking us to, as a company, run off about 20% of the paid time off that's stored up. Again this pays out of the company coffers effectively, so I think they're trying to avoid a run on time off and or big payouts when they start layoffs. It's.... not good signs at all, any of it.... for now I'll just stick with the blinders and ride things out because I'm protected and still have project work I can bill to.

Trying to help a friend.
General | Posted 11 years agoQuick shout about
cizkaro having his car stolen the other night. He's trying to get funds together to get another car so she can continue life as it's unlikely he'll see his car again. I roomed with him at Megaplex and he's good peeps. Help him out if you can.

I can haz MFF?
General | Posted 11 years agoStupidcheap airfare from the west coast and more OT than I know what to do with means I just bought my flight for MFF, so barring some other major disaster (and those do seem to happen a lot at the worst times...) I'll be there. Arriving Thursday morning off a redeye and leaving Monday.
Also signed papers to get the house on the market and it is now currently listed. Would be nice to unload that payment off my back sometime in the next six months, but we'll see how that works out.
Oh yeah... going to need a room... who has crash space? :D

Climbing out.
General | Posted 11 years agoStill working some heavy hours at work since coming back. Lots of deadlines to beat and lots of work to be done. I've seen my status updated and the new wage kicked in so that's good as well. The OT should help clear the damage from the root canal.
I also sent in the quit claim form Caltrans sent me to pay for replacing my rims and fixing my alignment and promise not to sue them for more later.
We're signing papers to put the house up for sale starting tomorrow, so we'll see how that goes.
----
I still had my free track day in Salt Lake City to sign up for (st octane academy) that was part of buying the Fiesta. I signed up for the session just before Unthrocon in SLC over Halloween, so I'll be there. I've got a room reserved but if anyone else is going and wants to split I'll be there starting Wed and leaving Sunday morning.
----
No MFF plans yet, I've seen some good flight deals but I still don't have a room lined up which makes it hard to plan things.

I survived Megaplex and all I got was this lousy root canal!
General | Posted 11 years agoSo. Been back from FL for a while. Shit hit the fan hard coming back.
Found an email in my box that my tenants in the condo had served notice a few weeks ago and were pulling out. That's a $700/mo hole in my budget with them gone.
Then while busting my hump over the weekend trying to get caught up on projects at work, I had a sharp toothache. That got much worse over Sunday. Monday I went to the dentist, and Tuesday we did a root canal/crown. Even with insurance that's a hell of a hit to take.
With the condo situation basically crippling my monthly budget I liquidated an old 401K to clear my car payments. That along with getting a raise/promotion at work means I can tread water on my own still, but for now I'm making mom take on the condo payment because I'm tired of floating her living expenses along with my own and sweating every bump in the road for it when crap like this hits.
- Aside from that the con was okay. I ran into folks I hadn't seen for a while, but otherwise I wasn't that amped up about the con or that involved with it. I spent most of the weekend bouncing between Universal and Disney. The whole Harry Potter area is pretty epic. I may have also gotten drunk enough Thursday night that I don't remember how I got to the room, just that I did wake up there. That was a particularly not proud moment to kick off the con.
Not sure what's next other than continuing to work my ass off on projects at work while trying to get the house or the condo on the market to sell and get them off my back. I find a way to claw through it, always do somehow.

General | Posted 11 years agoStill alive! I know, hard to believe.
Work has been pretty crazy busy. With the schedule on this ( http://www.southeastconnector.com/ ) huge project pressing on me, I've been mostly focused on trying to get all the drawings out that I need to without a lot of engineering input. Pretty sure they'll break ground on it sometime before BLFC next year which should be cool to see.
I got the stripes installed on the Fiesta and fixed my bent rim issue. We'll see if Caltrans ponies up for leaving such fun potholes on the freeway. Otherwise I hit one car show already with it, and I'll be down in Sacto in a few weeks with it for another show probably as the work on my convertible is lagging. I managed to pull the original rear end out ( http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g.....ps0d97e000.jpg ), but working through the modified brakes is proving to be an adventure. I'm not rushing it because it's damn hot up here, and brakes are kinda something you don't want to screw up.
On the housing front, our neighbor finally listed their property just before Memorial day. We were kind of joking with them about being in a race to hit the market before them, but they beat us anyway! We got new carpet installed in the living room and I managed to finish swapping baseboards and door trim for something more up to date looking. It's coming along nicely and hopefully within the month we'll get the house listed for sale so I can get that headache out of my life. The market around the condo has picked up as well, so there's hope that maybe I can list that and get rid of it too without being horribly upsidedown on it.
Lastly, work looks to stay busy enough that I wont burn through all my vacation before
Megaplex so I registered. Looking forward to getting the feck out of here for a while.

General | Posted 11 years agoWoo! That was fast! United is having a really good sale out of SFO on direct flights so I snagged my flight for
Megaplex in July. AC was a maybe if the fares dropped enough but I'd rather bug the FL crowd anyway so woot and stuff! :D
We'll see if this impacts going to MFF, but I don't think it will with the schedule being pushed back this year and my usual skipping of FC.
Man... I haven't been to Megaplex since... 2004!... which I'm pretty sure was the con when Devinfox shredded his knee in the lobby while we were horsing around and Latin Vixen was at her first furry con I think or something... daaaayum that was a long time ago.
Anyone looking to split a room by the way. I promise I wont destroy your knee!

General | Posted 11 years agoThe con was more awesome than last year, which is important since awesome was such a prevalent word in the 80's.
Drove over mid-day Thursday. This year I took the "short" route which had me driving past/over Mt. Lassen. It had just snowed so everything was pure white. I wanted to stop and take pictures, but if I pulled over I would've gotten stuck on the shoulder. No problems on the drive in otherwise. I did pass one car that managed to end up between trees facing the wrong direction on my side of the road down an embankment. Having seen that, I'm not so miffed at work for tying me up that morning despite my telling them I would be unavailable.
Friday went by pretty stupid quick with a a good chunk of that dedicated to the fursuit go-kart tourney. I would've done better if I decided to be mean but I leave that kind of karting up to Diablo since he's evil and all (when he was around anyway!) I got in a good mix of suiting and hanging out with folks which made the day seem to fly by.
Saturday went much the same as the "Miracle" fox was out and about for the parade. I've also got an awesome badge from Sidian to go with that which I shall scan at some point. I also ran around in the new critter, which at this point is still just a partial since I'm working on the body. - Yeah I know... me, working on a suit! That just doesn't happen anymore! - I also ran into the person that I sold Cal E Yote to years ago. It was discussed that I might want to buy him back, whiiiich I'll probably do because drunken yote was awesome (there's that word again!).
Sunday was go home day. I thought about sticking around longer but the weather over the passes was questionable, especially for the Fiesta. I stuck around for the critter games and then bolted over Donner summit since the north route seemed dicey.
I've not seen one flippin picture of Miracle fox or of the new critter, so I'll say nothing about it until it's done and post like official pictures.
No idea what con is next. No interest in AC but thinking of Megaplex as I wanted to do it last year and couldn't, plus it's been about 10 years since I made it to FL to harass the florida furs. Unthrocon is also on my maybe list because I can sign up for the Ford ST Academy the week of the con and get a track day in before the con. That's waaaaay off though in October and could put me in a pinch to make it to MFF. I'd like to hit that one up for the outdoor ice skating now that the con is pushed into December.
The new rims for the Fiesta came in too. I got them on the car yesterday but it's still filthy from the drive to Reno, so no pics yet.
Later duuuuuuuude.

General | Posted 12 years agoTalked with my property manager and found out what the fuck they were holding funds for. Apparently things are settled out enough that they're issuing payment to me now with some of what's left from last month, so back on track with the condo money. Also the feds and state kicked back my refunds crazy fast so my budget is back on track and healthy again. That means I might not be in a sucktastic mood at the con in three weeks!
Work put me in a bit of a pinch though. They pushed our completion date out another week so now we're putting together the set on the Friday of the con. I'm far enough ahead in my work that I think I'll be able to get the set pushed out before that weekend though. Regardless they've pushed this deadline three times now so they'll just have to deal with me taking the time off!

Budget con(do)
General | Posted 12 years agoI'm still going to
biggestlittlefurcon I'm too invested in it at this point to turn back.
Owner statement for the condo was published and I'm not seeing any rental money versus expenses from it for the third month in a row. So the total climbs to $2,700 tossed out into wind this year for that fucking condo.
Good news is I didn't get raped on taxes this year so I'll find a way to pull through the hit.
I had some fun ideas I wanted to do costume wise at the con but those are done with the blow to the budget. Same for some travel plans later this year I was considering. Hell it's downright situation normal. Sit on my hands, lock down the budget, stock up vacation time since I can't afford to go anywhere and keep working my ass off to keep treading water.
Awesome.

Hockey!.. in the 80s!
General | Posted 12 years agoSo random thought the other day while I start planning out my array of jerseys for
biggestlittlefurcon.. they're all useless! For dogs sake man! This is totally the 80s! That means no Tampa Bay Lightning, no Nashville Predators, No Ottawa Senators, No Colorado Avalanche, No Florida Panthers, No Minnesota Wild, No Dallas Stars, No Atlanta Thrashers (oops, Atlanta already took care of that! :D ) no San Jose Sharks?! No Phoenix Coyotes! AND NO ANAHEIM DUCKS (I'm lookin at you Frosty!)
What is acceptable? 1980 USA hockey jersey cause fukin MIRACLE, that's why. Winnepeg Jets 1.0 (cheating if you use the new one), Hartford Whalers, Quebec Nordiques, Vancouver - but it has to be the hideous V neck jerseys, Minnesota North Stars, and Colorado Rockies (not the baseball team... jeeze)
Just remember to do your homework folks and make sure that whatever you do was acceptable in the 80s!
