General | Posted 13 years agoThe update is still going strong. I'm running around bug-fixing while attempting to add new girls and return some interactivity.
IF YOU CAN'T PLAY THE GAME PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING INFO!
Make sure you have the latest version of your browser. We're using Firefox at the studio, but we do test on Chrome.
Make sure you have the latest version of Flash.
If you need to update, restart your computer!
If you still try to play the game and get a black screen let me know. But please, make sure you've updated properly and cleared your cache.
Before you report any bugs please make sure you've done the above. Many issues have been fixed by updates and cache clearing.

Fixing the Site
General | Posted 13 years agoOur web guy has been working on his end while we slept. Thank you Xzentio! Since I woke up, I've been helping him try and get this loading hang issue sorted.
This should have fixed the hang.
Yes, there are still load times. The online version will have load times. The downloadable version will not have load times, but I'm still working on the code for that one. I should be able to get it to you in a week or so.
There are still girls to add and features that don't work.
As of now the known character issues are:

General | Posted 13 years agoThe update is live, the site should be back up. If not, CLEAR YOUR CACHE!
Registration is free, but required to access the game.
There are a few characters that will continue to be added over the next week or so. In fact, I'm still adding and fixing things. There's no way I'm going to sleep right now!

Those that are not receiving an activation mail: email hthstudios.bugfix[at]gmail.com and include your username in the message. ***NOTE*** It may take up to 24 hours for some confirmation emails. The system is overloaded. CHECK YOUR SPAM BOX/FILTER! It might be in there too.

Well . . . the new update is going live!

Where Have All the Older Files Gone?
General | Posted 14 years agoSo this keeps getting brought up, whether in the HTH forums, FA shout boxes, Notes, etc. Since there's an explanation in other places, I decided to make one here.
The reason the older sex animation files aren't in game (it doesn't matter what version you're talking about, this is the answer), is because the files are broken. I'm not talking about her face looks weird, or it needs little tweaks here and there -- I mean that these files are BROKEN. We're talking about buttons not working or appearing (even though it's coded fine), Files crashing randomly for no reason -- and by crashing, I mean knocking you out of Flash and/or your entire Firefox session, Body parts go missing for no reason, Animations are out of sequence, and other weird annoying shit. Also, these files were all works in progress when they were lost, so none of them were pristine files before the corruption.
Many of these errors were the result of having to change computer systems 3 times. I went from a Mac laptop, to a Windows 7 Gateway Laptop with no graphics card (this was one of the biggest issues with file defects), then finally completing the tower (thanks to user donations) which is Windows XP. Many files did not survive all 3 moves. Especially because these weren't planned moves, but emergency -- SOS -- SHIT BE GOIN' DOWN -- kind of problems.
If anyone was around for the Anne Door fiasco -- then you understand that just because I draw something and code it, doesn't mean it works perfectly every time.
Because many of these file problems would take longer to suss out than redo (especially because I've learned how to make better flashes which will hopefully avoid these problems in the first place), I'm redoing them.
And before anyone asks: Why can't you just use the old files hosted in other places? Those aren't useable files. They're just non-finalized versions that, at the time, were good enough for posting. There's no data or code for me to work with. As for reverse-engineering the .swf files: That's just way more trouble and headache than it's worth. We're talking about files that I coded anywhere from 2 - 5 years ago. I'd be like trying to make a movie out of crayon sketches I made as a kid -- It's just a waste of time.
I appreciate that people like so much of the work that I've done. I wish I didn't have to redo files, and take things away. When things go wrong, it's just as much of a pain for me as it is a let down for you.
Because I occasionally don't mind my work getting hosted in other places, you can find many of the older files out there. Sometimes it takes a bit of digging, and maybe some file exchanges with furs who still have them, but many still exist in some form or another.

Game & Engine Updates
General | Posted 14 years agoA WIP of the updated High Tail Hall is now live. Limited interactivity but I figured it's worth showing.
My site may not be working...but I am! ^.^
with the site currently down I have updated the classic area. While not 100% done, some of the girls an max are in place as well as the updated room/graphics/and GUI.
GUI has been updated to avoid clutter. Menu/logo Hide option in production.
Zoe and Tanya will go live in zone first. I have a WAY smaller size limit on this site so I will be launching each club in it's own file here on FA as well as NG and SoFurry!
Been working my ass off on this so I really hope you enjoy the current updates. MANY MANY MANY More on the way.

UPDATE: STILL DOWN
General | Posted 14 years agoYup, site's still down. We've contacted our provider multiple times and we're still waiting. We have a group of people trying to contact this guy. Hopefully it's not something serious, and with any luck it'll turn out to be something that went wrong while the guy was out of town for Christmas. Even server hosts celebrate the holidays too. This has never happened before, so I'm willing to cut the guy some slack considering what time of year it is.
Thank you to those who have offered other options for our hosting, but it's really not necessary. I've searched for years for a good place to host HTH, and because of my content and high traffic, it can be complicated and expensive. I kinda found a home, and I don't want to give it up unless something major happens to fuck everything up.
In case you're wondering, even if something happens to our host, the game and site are all fine, backed up like a responsible programmer does.
Hopefully this will get resolved before New Years. In the meantime, I do have some arts I've been working on while the site's been down. I'll definitely post them here, so you'll all have something to play with while this site issue gets taken care of.
