11/25/14 Stream summary and leftover business!
General | Posted 11 years agoHey there, folks! Just making a journal before I head off to work, so sorry for this being so early in the morning!
I'm happy to say that the stream was a great success! A huge thanks to
retardfabio for getting the word out and rounding up some interest! That being said, there were a few things I fell flat on, but that'll be for the next creative burst, which will be... I dunno, whenever. But likely sometime near the end of the month! Maybe. I dunno, I shouldn't make predictions just yet!
There were a few folks I didn't get to do art for who asked, and to those folks, I apologize! I'll likely end up doing some of that in my downtime, or perhaps on the next sketchstream.
And speaking of art, I'm likely to end up posting that stuff tonight, or at least this evening when I get back from work, so expect it then! Be sure to fave and comment on the stuff you liked!

10/30/14 Voice Acting Suggestions?
General | Posted 11 years agoHey there, FA! I'd like to hit anyone up who might have an idea for a solution to my problem. I've been trying to work it through, but I'm just plumb out of ideas at this point!
So, I teach a class in a program called Telecommunity. It's a program dedicated to exposing people anywhere from 8-18 to professional-level digital art programs (Adobe Photoshop, Flash, Illustrator, etc.) and just generally have a great time exploring their artistic spirits. It's a wonderful program, one that I've been with for at least seven years, as a student for four and a teacher for about three. Since we work by volunteer only under Duquesne University, nobody has to pay anything to get into the program: It's strictly a program to help those who want it. Because of the good it does for those kids, who otherwise would never get the opportunity to work with professional-level tools, I'm nothing but proud to be a part of it and to lend my support to the program in any way I can.
Now that you have the backstory, here's recent events: I usually teach Video Game Design in one of the labs, but with it being the fall sessions, the only people involved in that are the people that already know what they're doing, so they just work and I have nothing to teach or help with. Makes my job awfully boring. So, I brightened up when one of the younger students approached me while I was demonstrating a proper German accent, bewildered and wanting to learn how to do it. Over the course of the gap between that and the next class, I formulated an idea to teach kids how to improve voice acting skills, hit up the idea with one of the older teachers, and she thought it was a wonderful idea so we sought to make it a reality by writing it up on a sheet and passing it around next class to gauge interest. Turns out there was a LOT of interest! I had a small class, but it was certainly large enough for me to see it as a genuinely interested following! I talked at length introducing them to the anatomy of the voice box and the respiratory system so they could get familiar with the terms, and then went a bit into mic etiquette. It was a nice class, and when I asked if they'd be interested in doing this again the next class (Nov 8), they all said yes! So, I set out to formulate a lesson plan.
That's where things get tricky.
I already know where I want to start; giving them a few exercises to warm up their voice, then having them say a few lines into the microphone, first in a normal voice. This is to get them acclimated to the way their voice sounds to other people, so they know what to work on with their own tonality. The second part is more interesting: in front of everyone else, I'm going to ask them to say those same lines again, but in the silliest, goofiest voice they can possibly muster. The purpose behind this is to help subdue their desire to break character when something might feel uncomfortable for them, the second is to help them really get into a character, and the third one, actually a challenge for the audience, is to ensure they don't laugh. Not only will it be heard on the mic (a BIG no-no), but it's also a lesson in taking characters as genuine. If you can't take someone else's character seriously, you won't be able to take your own character seriously, and you'll just stand there giggling at your own line for about 20 minutes before you can say it to clue everyone in on what's so funny.
So that's all well and good, but... where to go from there? What would be a good stepping stone to get to talking about working with the voice to develop character, or even just working with the voice a bit more? Any ideas, suggestions?

10/20/14 A small update.

So, I apologize for once again going a little dark. My emotions can get me in a slump, and the monotony of waiting has started getting to me I admit, but I'm feeling pretty good right now, so I'm gonna try getting some art done in the coming days, as I always promise.
In the future, some of these journals may start to just become random musings that I want to make available for others to read and reflect upon, so don't mind me if I start rambling! Of course, I always appreciate it when people have something to say or correct me on~!
Also, remember those example paintings from way back when for Anthrocon? I still have those, and I plan on scanning them in... when I can replace my scanner. I'm dead broke right now, but on the cusp of getting a job, and you can believe that will be one of the first things on the list! So there's that.

Oh, ah, I may be taken, but it would suffice to say the relationship is an open one! Relationships for celestial beings are… strange, to say the least!

9/17/14 Stress, busy, and Worldbuilding
General | Posted 11 years agoI don't mean to imply that something's up with the whole idea of fall that has me apprehensive, but... actually, that's kind of exactly it. I really don't have much move for the fall, in all honesty. It gets all dreary and grey and everyone just seems to have a bad time. Winter's not much better: It's uncomfortably cold and there's little variation in color out there... Humph. Anyhow, I'm not going to spend this whole journal complaining about the weather to come.
I apologize to everyone who's been waiting on me for all this time, it's really not fair to you to be waiting for so long, I guess I'm just letting the depressiveness of the season and the stress of getting my life together get to me. One way or another, I'm going to try my hardest to get my rump back in gear. I can't apologize enough times, sweeties.
In other news, I've been working on some (tamer) works of art over on my end, both in writing and art. Lots of complex worldbuilding going on there. So, my question to you guys: how interested would you be in seeing it? The art itself would involve anatomy, geography, societal structures, histories, technology and all that somesuch. Tell me what you'd think of seeing it!

I apologize to everyone who's been waiting on me for all this time, it's really not fair to you to be waiting for so long, I guess I'm just letting the depressiveness of the season and the stress of getting my life together get to me. One way or another, I'm going to try my hardest to get my rump back in gear. I can't apologize enough times, sweeties.
In other news, I've been working on some (tamer) works of art over on my end, both in writing and art. Lots of complex worldbuilding going on there. So, my question to you guys: how interested would you be in seeing it? The art itself would involve anatomy, geography, societal structures, histories, technology and all that somesuch. Tell me what you'd think of seeing it!

General | Posted 11 years agoHey there, hons! Remember when I said my Scraps Folder was about to fill up? Well it did! And chances are you've seen what's going on in there!
Yes, zentai ponies are happening. It's weird, right?!
Ponies are just fine, sure, and I know that zentai isn't the most POPULAR kink in the world. Seriously, look at FA. Go to Search. Type in 'mlp zentai' or 'pony zentai', or what have you. You get, say, 3 artpieces, and one of them is just a repost on the commissioner's profile. Not a whole lot of variety! So, I'm adding some variety, and I'm making it as weird as I want it to be, which is pretty weird! c;
I love zentai, both on its own and as a kink. That's not to say I focus exclusively on it, but if you have a good zentai idea? Chances are I'll be more than happy to draw it, partially because I like it, but also partially because it's a really underexplored and underexposed thing on... well, anywhere, for the most part. Especially the ponies part of it. Though, in the counterpoint's defense, anything that isn't vanilla sex with ponies in it seems to fall under the category of "niche fetish", which is kinda' redundant when you think about the whole idea of the furry fandom. Anyhow, it was under that pretense that I started drawing up colts getting trapped in zentai suits, to their surprise and my enjoyment! Buuut... It seems my tide of colts recedes as I've grabbed up all the colts I can imagine grabbing, with a few exceptions that I just haven't drawn yet! Those guys will come later!
So, here's the idea: You guys like My Little Zentai Collection? Want to see more of it? Well, so do I! I just need a booster shot of ideas, in the form of colts and/or stallions! Why just males? Well, because this is a personal project, and I scored a 6 on the Kinsey Scale. Look it up, if you're not sure what that means!
Suggest a pony from the show, or even volunteer one of your own if you're really feeling it, and I'll pick and choose what I want to do next! No worries about rushing, I'll be adding stuff on my own given time~ Also, to preserve the feeling of mystery and excitement, I'll only put down numbers instead of specific names, as you'll see above on my header for convenience! That way, it'll always be up-to-date! Now then, suggest away!
