6/12/14 Anthrocon and other things
General | Posted 11 years agoSo, since I'll be attending Anthrocon, I think it'd be good to give you guys a bit of info, in the form of a meme!~
Where are you staying?
Home; it's barely even a commute there.
What day are you getting there?
I'll be there from day one!
Who will you be rooming with?
My bf and his friend, who I'm letting stay here for the con~
Who will you hang out with during the convention?
I'll be around my bf most if not all the time, plus may be with his friend, and
obeythesnarf (Who I totally jacked this meme off of c; )
What is the best way to find you?
Send me a shout or a note, and I'll be happy to tell you where I am!~
Are there any panels you might be attending?
None for certain! I like to shoot from the hip when it comes to panels~
What do you look like?
I'll almost definitely be in some gender-ambiguous clothing, but if all else fails, look for either bee-striped socks or a very fancy blue dress. Physically, I'm caucasian, somewhat skinny, about neck-length dark brown hair, round face, and I may be wearing a light blue long curly wig!~
Will you be suiting?
Don't I wish!
Do you do free art?
Depends on the idea you have in mind!
Do you do trades?
Oh, absolutely! Indeed, I welcome it!~
Do you do badges/commissions?
I do, but that will take some time!
How tall are you?
Barely under six feet.
Are you mated/in a relationship?
Yes I am! Sorry, but paws off~
Can I talk to you?
NO. >:c Heh, of course you can talk to me!
Can I touch you?
That depends on what you intend on touching~
Can I visit your room?
I appreciate the insistence, but I'd prefer you don't break into my house! c:
Can I buy you drinks?
Only if it's a cream soda, and it has to be sealed!~
Can I give you stuff?
Depends on the stuff, though I always appreciate the thought~
Can I hug or snuggle with you?
Of course, hon, just give me some warning!~
Are you nice?
For the most part, even if it's hidden behind some snide sarcasm!
How long are you going?
I'll be there the whole time.
Do you have an artist table?
We'll find out soon!~
Will you be going to parties?
I'm not the sort to party. I prefer simple conversation!
Will you be performing?
Sadly, no.
Do you have prints/CDs?
Nuffin, hon, sowwy~
Will you have art in the Art Show? General or Adult sections?
Nope!
If I see you, how should I get your attention?
Just call me when you see me! Say something spontaneous, though make sure you call me 'Alec', and if you want added effect, be sure to do shout an insult or two at me in an Irish or Scottish accent; that'll get my attention for sure! XD
Can I look in your sketchbook?
Yes you may, upon request, and I'd be happy to tell you about the characters inside, as each of them have a story!~
Can I draw in your sketchbook?
If you desire, but please make it something nice, rather than just some crudely-drawn genitals! c;
Can I come with you for food/fun/etc?
Of course!
Can I take your picture?
If you desire a photo, I'm happy to accommodate!
What's your goal(s) for the con this year?
To show off, to make friends, and of course to spread the love of worldbuilding to folks of all ilk!~

5/26/14 AND I'M BACK! (Watchers please read!)
General | Posted 11 years agoGraduation is over, and I am moved into my temporary establishment until I am able to secure my own place. I have some unpacking to do, but for what it's worth, I'm back in business! I noticed I gained a few watchers during my hiatus, and so I'd like to give out a full-out THANK YOU to those who did so! I also noticed that a bunch of them unsubscribed, likely due to my lack of activity. Maybe they didn't bother to read the last journal. <:I
Anyhow, I'm back, folks, and I'm open and ready for anything you happen to have for me! Yuss, art is open again, and you can expect new things soon!
Anyhow, I'm back, folks, and I'm open and ready for anything you happen to have for me! Yuss, art is open again, and you can expect new things soon!
4/20/14 Sure, let's finally update this thing.
General | Posted 11 years agoYullo, everyone, canine, feline, reptile, riding animal, and otherwise! (I feel like that covered less ground than it did in my head, but whatever)
So, it's come to my attention that I might not get the opportunity to work on art, or at least not post it here for some time. Consider myself on a technology break. Enforced technology break.
To my commissioners, I apologize profusely for the unexpected delay, and I should hope not a massive one, but you can never be too sure. If you're angry, I understand completely, and I ask only that you be patient with me; I wouldn't be doing this if I had a choice in the matter. In the meantime, I'll continue polishing up the work I have, so that when I do scan and work on it on the compy, it'll be the best I can make it. I appreciate your patience.
To my friends, I am so, SO sorry for going dark without any previous notice. I was hoping to avoid it as well, but circumstances caught up to me, to say the minimum. Don't worry-- I'm neither running nor hiding from anything. I just need a break to make sure I wrap up the school year on a high note and get the rest of my life in check, if I even have the ability to manage that.
As for other things, I kind of want to draw more art from my own brain. Probably more tame things; sure, smut draws a crowd, but I don't think it's right for me to gain popularity by selling out completely. Moderation, ladies and gents. Moderation. Maybe I could think about getting into animation as well, since it's been a tiny passion. I consider it more of an admiration for the art, but I have the resources to turn that admiration into genuine work, so maybe I should!
Anyhow, that's my spiel. I hope all of you are doing great!
Finally, a question: If you were to assemble a crew of spacefaring smugglers, a la Firefly, what species might you select for the various crew members, and why? I'd love to hear your input!

COMMISSION GUIDE!
General | Posted 12 years agoSo, it seems due time to announce that I have intentions on doing commissions again! Fun, no? Seems that every other year, these start up and then proceed to grind to a halt. Oh well, one can only expect so much out of a man with no actual plan involved in his… plan. :I
However, I have to bring to you a wondrous system which I have worked out by hand and the sweat of my own brow! Okay, mostly just my hand, and quotes from others, but hey, got to start somewhere! That being said, below stands a series of points and questions concerning my commission deals. The Table of Contents is as follows:
When I say “General”, I suppose I mean that what I’m about to say applies to all of my Commissions, though my own, free-range art is not necessarily subject to these rules (though, considering that they reflect my morals, especially getting into sections I3 and I4, I don’t expect they will deviate very often.) Be sure to read this section, no matter the commission you desire!
What is the First Free Policy? It’s me retaining my love to give art to people, whilst still also wanting to not have a notebook full of Requests. It’s also my desire to not restrict my criteria to too great a degree for Requests, and so, here are the rules:
1. According to the First Free Policy, as one might expect in the name, the first time somebody hits me up for a Commission, my charge is exactly $0! Everyone’s first commission is free, though I will treat it as though paid.
2. As it is considered a Commission by me, you have access to all of the Commission Types, and also no more (but less if you so desire) than TWO Additions! This means, if you want a colored piece, it could have two extra characters, one extra character and a background, one extra character and shading, no extra characters but shading and a background, the combinations are restricted only to your desire!
3. As one might expect, I only take ONE FF Commission from everyone who sends me a note. I will not take commissions by shout or comment.
4. If you desire to cancel your FF Commission before it is completed, you will not receive the finished project. However, you will get your FFP renewed, and have the ability to commission another.
5. You may only spend your FF commission if it is of an idea of your own making! I will not do an FF piece for other people’s characters, scenarios, etc. This is to ensure people don’t utilize others to get more than one FF Commission, or utilize alternate accounts under the guise of being a commissioner’s friend.
6. Just because your first wasn’t free doesn’t mean you next one can’t be! If you so choose, you can pay for your first commission. If you do so, you may keep your FF commission use for until you desire to use it, like if you’re down on your luck in terms of money at the time!
Even if you have no money to give, I happily accept your expenditure of your FF Commission! Admittedly, that is partially the intention: to offer my finest quality of art to those who might not be able to afford it! Spend it well, dearies.
One of the things that’s great about artists is that through their work (usually), you get to know who they are on a personal level. So, I think it only appropriate to expound here upon what my favorite pieces of subject matter are and why I happen to enjoy it so thoroughly. This is a sort of “What I Will Draw” section, but also not quite. Oh, it’s close enough for you people, jeez.
Tame Art (Including Tasteful Nudity/Fetishes):
Character References – I enjoy studying characters in their thoroughness, and being able to picture them in all three of the immediately available special dimensions is a pretty wonderful thing. As such, despite the hassle in drawing two entirely different jawlines (this kills me with every creature with a muzzle, I swear,) being able to do even what I consider to be the blandest and most emotionless of character depictions is a joy!
Duo/Trio/Quatro(?) Juxtaposition – Having pairs of characters in the same space is a beautiful thing to create. When you have personalities who you understand on a personal level, and you place them in eyeshot of one another, it almost creates a bond between them; a view on how they might interact with one another! It makes them feel like they’re living, thinking things, rather than just being shapes on a piece of paper.
Provocative Posing (Back to Viewer) – Another view of characters that I absolutely delight in doing is a nice, pinup-style character pose showing off their bodies! It’s quite something to show off the passion and elegance, the sheer beauty of a young body, in such a pompous and provocative manner!
Ponies – Ponies are ponies, and that’s that! In all seriousness, though, the style presented in the show My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic is a lovely stylistic mode of work, and one that I consider very worthwhile to recreate to the greatest level of dedication as I’m able!
Insects and other Strange Anthros – What would I be but a liar if I said that I didn’t have a soft spot for trying to bring strange and obscure creatures into the world of anthropomorphism? Giving a critter, be they from fantasy, extreme environments, or long-gone eras, a form that we can recognize, whilst still adhering to their original form, is something I love to do, and more often than not, the results are something to gawk at in wonder!
Zentai/ Other Full Enclosure Suits – Depending on the purpose, this can be sexual or not, but I could care less! As a sensory person (and a zentai suit owner, pfft,) I find full-enclosure suits to be ever so snug and exciting! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve fallen asleep in my zentai suit at night. Mmm, comfy!
Rubber/Latex – Honestly, when is this not ever used in terms of a fetish of some kind? Doesn’t matter; rubber remains the squeakiest and shiniest piece of deliciousness my mind has ever crossed! In my case, it remains sadly unrequited, as I have no rubber gear yet, but still, one can dream!
Plush – Softie, snugglable, and squeaky, equal to being on the level of zentai suits in my mind! Plushie critters are awfully lovely, with their stitching and seams, and patchwork, homemade twinge! There’s something to be said about love earned by a snuggly, sewn-together creature!
Socks/Stockings – Hey, who saw this one coming? Yes, shockingly, with my love of full enclosure, fabric, and provocativeness, I just so happen to also be a fan of socks of any and all kinds! Striped, spotted, toed, over-the-knee, thigh-high, tights, oh so many options to choose from!
Crossdressing – OH HONEY, WHERE DO I BEGIN? Frills, hot pink, panties, dresses, why I feel like I’m reciting my Christmas list! There’s nothing more to say on the subject: if you like it, you know exactly what I’m talking about!
Explicit Art (Needs no Introduction):
Gay Things – Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m fine with drawing straight or bi situations, but when it comes to sexuality, I’m about as gay as gay comes! I need bulges in my porn, thank ye’ much.
Hermaphrodites – Having just one gender is so last year. Even though I’m incredibly into manlyparts, I’ve said in the past that I would be fine with breasts and a ladypart… in ADDITION to my current bits!
Transformation – I know, I know; this isn’t always involving nudity or sexy things. Still, There’s something simply scrumptious about bearing witness to a transition from one form to another, provided the means is appropriately provocative! Knowing my fetishes and looking around my gallery, you can take a good guess what sorts of TF I’m a fan of!
Udders – Udders. Udders are nice. I like udders. That’s all that need be said.
Of course, just because I may not list something here, doesn’t mean I won’t do it! Check out the Won’t Do section for the only things I bar, and if you still wanna make sure, check the Might Do. I’m a temperamental enough person to like certain things under only the right conditions, trust me!
Whoops, that’s the sound of there being a limit to the things I refuse to depict for others! What follows is NOT up for debate, so don’t bother arguing, “OH, WELL YOU SHOULD DO THIS FOR ME BECAUSE BLUH” just because I happen to not be a fan of it and you really want art of it. That’s why there’s more than one artist in the world.
Slavemaking/Brainwashing – Let’s get the elephant out of the room first. Let it be known that I am an individualist through and through; as such, I despise in all its forms the ripping from people their individuality or identity. Indeed, I’ve at one point contemplated doing art depicting characters restoring individuality/identity, that is the extent of my need to voice my opposition to it.
Gore/Blood – People reading all these dislikes will come to realize what a gentle, indeed idealistically gentle soul I am. I believe in protecting people, and loving them in all their faults. Well, okay, so I have angry brooding thoughts every now and again, but that’s only because I have no tolerance for ignorance and/or resignation to violence. On that vein, I’ll say good and clear that I’ll have no grotesque art depicting dismemberment, disemboweling, or death in this profile, by myself or others.
Inanimacy – This is a bit on the picky side, I suppose. My dislike of inanimate stuff has a lot to do with my dislike for lack of control over oneself; especially at the level of basic motor function. Indeed, any sort of sensory deprivation is torture in my eyes, and inanimacy just so.
Scat/Watersports – OH HEY LOOK, ANOTHER ARTIST WHO WON’T DRAW CHARACTERS POOPING! I have nothing against either of these things, it’s just… gross to me. Call it absurd, but shockingly, I’m a bit skeezed out by the idea of peeing on someone. Sexual fluids only, s’il vous plait. My stomach thanks you.
Snuff/General Death/Execution Based Things – Yes, this was important enough to me to warrant a longer breakdown. Ending the life of another is not my way of doing things, no matter how ‘justified’ by whatever manner suits you best. Besides, I prefer people living to face their crimes. Back on track, killing for means of justice or revenge is bad enough to me. Death for means of pleasure? That was off the menu the moment I typed this up.
Castration/Nullification – Again, this has a lot to do with respecting the bodies of others, but on a bigger scale. Well, maybe bigger. I dunno, it depends who you’re talking to. Anyhow, removal of genitals is not my thing. Even if I have characters with just bulges, there’s always some way for me around the rule of taking away a prime erogenous zone.
Yeah, most of the things on my dislike list have a good deal to do with taking away control or doing damage to things. I’m one those people who believes very strongly that nothing should be done to benefit oneself or even in general if it is at the expense of other people.
Certainly the wordiest title here, and with good reason; There are some things I love doing, and few things I refuse to do, but in between, there’s this fine group of things I will only do if it happens to be under the right conditions! The wrong thing for the right reason is forgivable to me, and that’s pretty much what this is. Alright, here we go:
Cubs – I don’t outright condemn it. However, at the same time, while I like some aspects of it, I dislike other, contrasting aspects. Part of it has a lot to do with the concept of consent. I WILL accept the idea of pictures depicting young figures in consenting situations; in cases where the moment is nonconsenting (i.e. rape), I’m not nearly as okay with it.
Permanent TFs – Now, mind you, this is an awfully picky thing (Probably as picky as I’m going to get), but let it be known that I will approve or disapprove of permanent transformations based on what the end result is (Animate is okay, inanimate is a no-go), and the consent of the character! I do not want to depict something being irreversibly altered against its will. Even if it’s a secret desire, that’s fine.
Mind Control/Hypnosis – Saw this one coming, didn’t you? I won’t beat around the bush, you know my issue with forcing people to do things against their will, or depriving them of some level of their mental freedom. If the subject wants it however, that’s a different case entirely.
Haven’t you noticed that all of the maybes all depend on whether or not the character in question clearly wants the scenario depicted in the art to happen? Yes, that seems to be a theme for me, pardon my stringent idealism concerning peoples’ right to have every say in the aspects of their lives! Now then, that takes care of the social amenities, let’s get down to brass tacks.
(Note: Be sure to leave a comment if there’s any subject matter I missed that you want to be sure on, if you’re not certain! Better safe than sorry!)
Aren't you happy you got past all of my blabbering? Yes? Good! Looking forward to hearing more blabbering out of me? Great! AWAY WE GO!
Sketches! Only $3! Quite the steal, no? Yes? Why does it not matter which one of those two affirmations you put there? Oh well. Anyhow, here’s the details:
1. Pencil Sketches are only $3! Cheapest of the bunch, and with a lot of benefits!
2. While you will need to pay for extra characters and a background, you will NOT need to pay for shading! That comes free. Seriously, shading is hilariously easy with pencil.
3. Pencil sketches will be greyscale, which means the color you see is the color you get! Don’t expect me to get all fancy on you! Well, okay, I might, but no guarantee I will!
Simple enough, right? I didn’t expect to need to expound much on this one, it’s mostly self-explanatory. At least keep #2 in mind, that’s an important detail.
Admittedly, I don’t usually do lineart. In fact, my doing it now is really only at the suggestion of a few friends who noticed it was missing from my original offering for commissions. Anyhow, here’s the short and simple of this one:
1. Lineart will be a simple $8! At first it was 10, but people screamed at me for going in increments of five. We can’t all be orderly, it seems.
2. Lineart will be minimal in color: black, white, and greys only when really appropriate. This is to make the spaces between the lines more clear and distinct.
3. A sketch will be provided of the initial piece, which must be approved by the commissioner before I begin working on the lineart. The lineart will, on average, be about twice the resolution of the sketch.
That’s the long and short of this one. As always, not much more to say. This one’s still newish to me.
Finally, onto the main course! This is where things start to get exciting. Colored images are always a joy to make, and they’re the norm for this place! Here’s the downlow on colors:
1. Colored images are a well-fitting $15! This one survived the purge of 5-increment prices.
2. As with the Lineart, you’ll be provided with a sketch which you gotta’ give the okay before I can start with the second, actual part of it!
3. Be sure to provide a guide of colors, be it a pre-existing image of the subject in color, images of colors you have in mind for certain things, or even a simple, vagueish description! The only criteria is that you provide some idea of the colors you have in mind! If you don’t, expect me to take some artistic liberties!
It’s awkward writing these. I mean hell, you people can figure out my art just by taking a look at the gallery, and of course the names are self-explanatory if ya’ know a thing or two about art things. Most of these descriptions were likely pretty unnecessary. Now that that’s all wrapped up, we can get on with our lives. Next up…
I swear to you, that rhyme was completely unintentional. Yet, it’s somehow satisfying. Back to business; Yes, there are nice little ‘additionals’ you can slap onto your already-existing commission! They’re like sprinkles, or dollops of whipped cream! In so much as they’re pretty, and would probably taste good if digital art had a taste.
Shading is self-explanatory. Now mind you, I’m not so much a fan of the smooth shading style in digital pieces. I prefer making use of a cell-shading sort of style, and that applies for both shading and highlights! If applicable, of course I also make use of gradient-type things. If that happens to be your cup o’ tea, Shading is a simple extra $5 to whatever commission type you have! Of course, be sure to keep in mind that if you want a Sketch, you do NOT have to pay for shading! As I said, that’s an easy thing to do in pencil.
Asking for art of one character is nice, of course, but where’s the fun in staying solo? There’s a whole world of interaction to be had between pairs, trios, or groups of more! Of course, extra characters for you means extra work for me, and that of course means extra fee for the addition of another character! Extra characters cost $7 each! That applies for any of the commission pieces. HOWEVER, if you want a Sketch, it only costs you $2 extra for each additional character! Don’t wanna charge you more than the initial cost for an additional like that. That’d be silly.
This one’s staying the price it is across the board. Regardless of commission type, this addition remains $5 extra. Backgrounds can be anything, really; I usually use a cut-paper style of pictures that I’ve taken out of nature or other things, but I can just as easily make something custom for you! Tell me what you want, and I’ll tell you what I can do!
Finally:
This is both the easiest section and also the most important. Seriously, if you commissioned me without reading this, shame on you. Of course, you wouldn’t know that shame’s on you, ‘cause you didn’t read this. Anyhow, Commissioning me comes in a few easy steps:
1. Look at my Art
2. Take Interest in my Art
3. Read This Journal
4.Fish Through Your Wallet for Loose Change
5.Throw It at the Screen
6. Decide what Commission Type/Additions you want based on Journal Specs
7. Send me a Note structured “COMMISSION – [Type](Additions)”
a. Ex. “Commission – [Colored](2 Extra Characters, Shading, Background)”
(This helps me keep track of what people want)
b. In the Note, state:
i. Character(s), Provide References or Description
ii. Pose(s), if applicable
iii. Background Details, if applicable
iv. Deadline, if needed/wanted by a certain date (Be prepared to negotiate this if things don’t go off in a timely manner)
8. Wait For A Reply from Me
9. I’ll send you a sketch of the initial thing. PLEASE DO NOT POST THIS TO YOUR PROFILE UNLESS THE SKETCH IS THE EXTENT OF YOUR COMMISSION. If so, skip to #11.
10. When Sketch is approved, I’ll begin work on the final product, and send it to you for approval when almost done.
11. If things need be changed after that, alterations are made.
12. When the Commission is finished officially, I will ask you pay the commission fee. I accept payment via Paypal, but we can discuss other options if that is not possible for you!
13. Once the fee is payed, you will be sent the finished and final product.
14. You are free to do with the final piece what you want, so long as you don’t claim it as your own work!
At that, I believe I can claim the Commission Guide to be officially finished! If there are any questions, please attatch them to this journal as a comment, or if your question is not being answered, send me a note so we can discuss! Thank ye, and enjoy the art to come!

1. First Free Policy
2. What I Love To Draw and Why
3. What I’d Rather Not Draw and Why
4. What I May Draw (Under the Right Circumstances) and Why
~II. Commission Types~

2. Lineart
3. Coloring
~III. Additions to Commissions~

How to Commission Me (The Easiest Section)~--Section I: General--When I say “General”, I suppose I mean that what I’m about to say applies to all of my Commissions, though my own, free-range art is not necessarily subject to these rules (though, considering that they reflect my morals, especially getting into sections I3 and I4, I don’t expect they will deviate very often.) Be sure to read this section, no matter the commission you desire!
Section I1: First Free PolicyWhat is the First Free Policy?
Section I2: What I Love To Draw and WhyOne of the things that’s great about artists is that through their work (usually), you get to know who they are on a personal level.
Section I3: What I’d Rather Not Draw and WhyWhoops, that’s the sound of there being a limit to the things I refuse to depict for others!
Section I3: What I May Draw (Under the Right Circumstances) and WhyCertainly the wordiest title here, and with good reason; There are some things I love doing, and few things I refuse to do, but in between, there’s this fine group of things I will only do if it happens to be under the right conditions!
--Section II: Commission Types--Aren't you happy you got past all of my blabbering? Yes? Good! Looking forward to hearing more blabbering out of me? Great! AWAY WE GO!
Section II1: SketchesSketches!
Section II2: LineartAdmittedly, I don’t usually do lineart.
Section II3: ColoringFinally, onto the main course!
Next up…
--Section III: Additions to Commissions--I swear to you, that rhyme was completely unintentional. Yet, it’s somehow satisfying. Back to business; Yes, there are nice little ‘additionals’ you can slap onto your already-existing commission! They’re like sprinkles, or dollops of whipped cream! In so much as they’re pretty, and would probably taste good if digital art had a taste.
Section III1: ShadingShading is self-explanatory.
Section III2: CharactersAsking for art of one character is nice, of course, but where’s the fun in staying solo? There’s a whole world of interaction to be had between pairs, trios, or groups of more! Of course, extra characters for you means extra work for me, and that of course means extra fee for the addition of another character! Extra characters cost $7 each! That applies for any of the commission pieces. HOWEVER, if you want a Sketch, it only costs you $2 extra for each additional character! Don’t wanna charge you more than the initial cost for an additional like that. That’d be silly.
Section III3: BackgroundsThis one’s staying the price it is across the board. Regardless of commission type, this addition remains $5 extra. Backgrounds can be anything, really; I usually use a cut-paper style of pictures that I’ve taken out of nature or other things, but I can just as easily make something custom for you! Tell me what you want, and I’ll tell you what I can do!
Finally:
--Section IV: How to Commission Me--This is both the easiest section and also the most important.
4.
5.
9/15/13 Art and Worldbuilding
General | Posted 12 years agoSo, buh. I wish I was more active in posting art here than I actually am. Actually, no, I don't wish, I'm TRYING to be more productive. Buh. Among those things is setting up prices for commissions. I think I have a good system down, though. Hopefully this is the case, and I can rack up some interest! I'm working on racking up art, and simultaneously considering what to do for an ad. I think I'm starting to get somewhere, though. Here's hoping!
In other news, I've been doing a lot of work with Worldbuilding, forging cultures, creating costume and dress for them, mechanics and such, the subject of which I hope to include in animations, which will be pretty dang cool. Working on arranging a script and getting music for it. To speak generally, though, I think I want to add a few thought experiments here, just out of interest, and to help those who have some fleshing out to do for their own species~!

7/24/13 Here come the meds.
General | Posted 12 years agoI'm prepping for having my wisdom teeth removed. Fairly standard meds required, actually. Just a basic antibiotic and some mouthwash-type to keep my gums healthy before the procedure... which is tomorrow, by the by. Oh, joy. :I Welp, here goes nothing.
7/23/13 Well, bad stuff.
General | Posted 12 years agoSo, first thing on the table: My bf's birthday was today, and I had no idea until ol' Skypie showed up and told me. No, I didn't have any knowledge of the date beforehand. Finally, no, Ken wouldn't tell me. When I inquired as to when his birthday was, since he mentioned that it was coming. He told me that it was 'just one of those things I should know'. No, actually, one of those things I SHOULD know is when Ken will drop the amorous idealism about knowing everything about one another unconditionally and help me out here. Okay, I'm not the finest for gossip, I admit that, but what happened here was a failure to communicate. Dare I say, a REFUSAL to communicate.
I'm not bothered, though. Birthdays don't mean much to me. Where you were born doesn't hold much significance to me, and caring about one's physical age is kinda' like caring about how long you've had a computer: I don't. As long as my body works, and I'm of a healthy MENTAL age, the physical age can go do what have you with what it wants whenever. In fact, I hate the idea of being concerned with physical age. Defining people by how long they've been alive to me is no better than defining people by skin color or gender, in that it's used with a form of discrimination in mind. I don't like the idea that you just have to 'wait' to do something or be recognized as an adult just because you haven't been alive for a certain number of years. That doesn't show much concern as to the person's level of maturity, or how smart they are, or temparate. No, it pastes the label 'Dumb Kid' over them and everyone else who 'isn't ready', even though you know that they, say, already look at porn, and have since the age of ten.
Guh.

7/13/13 Goings on and also grumping about my issues with MC.
General | Posted 12 years agoKeeping up with myself here, making sure I don't go inactive too hard :I
Anyhoof, the first week of Telecommunity has come and gone, and I think my classes have been going well for the most part. Some parts, however, still seem to slip through the cracks, and by parts, I actually mean a few particular students. And so I am faced with my greatest challenge: Teaching students and coaxing them to make a good product when they are determined to not care. At first, I may cite the question, 'if you don't care about art, why are you even here?', but I did ask that question, and I was given a concise answer I must admit I'm not surprised I found.
"Oh, I'm here because my mom signed me up. Also, because she says I need to do something other than play the Xbox all summer."
Maybe my disappointment at the latter half is a little hypocritical, in a so-says-the-guy-typing-this-in-the-early-morning sort of way, but I would say my disappointment in the former is fairly legitimate. Of course, parents want their kids to go out places and meet friends and, ya' know, DO things over the summer, but Telecommunity isn't just some summer camp. It's a place for kids who have a serious interest in art to brandish their skills, and when we have a kid in there who is there only because mom and pop wanted to not need to watch over their shining star for about five hours for only two weeks, sometimes less depending on the situation, their lack of interest really does distract everyone else and weighs the whole group down as a result.
That aside, I'm happy to say that my lessons, for those willing to listen, have impressed many of my students in the best of ways. Though I admit I have not given much time to work on these projects, I will correct that in the days to come, by both request and necessity, as the end of the week steadily approaches.
As per my own workings, I've come to the decision that I am no longer particularly wishy-washy on the concept of mind control. My opinions, however, are still not perfectly concise. Either way, my final ruling ended somewhere along the lines of:
"I am okay with all MC that I create, and I am not comfortable with any other MC that I did not engineer."
I don't think I could have possibly made that sound any nit-pickier. Herein lies the loop in my logic, though. See, I suppose that what I mean to say is more along the lines of:
"Most people prefer MC at a far more 'hardcore' level than I am comfortable with."
Personality erasing, rewriting, permanent MC, corrupting, all of those things make me uncomfortable in a serious way. Like, not even just sending a shiver down my spine; I'm talking sending a shiver through my WHOLE body. It's a level of discomfort that makes my finger itch to select more than a few Unwatch buttons.
It's to that point I realize I am being far too sensitive about this subject. I mean, people just do this as a fetish, they don't actually take this seriously, it's not as though that character they just drew was an actual living thing. Though sometimes I wonder if that's exactly what bugs me about it. I find myself asking the question, "If they were able to, would they?" And I fear on a personal level for those who might say yes. To be interested in depriving a creature of its free will, to treat it as a simple canvas to paint over what you desire, that strikes me as vandalism of the primest fashion. To me it is not even inhuman. To me, it's perfectly monstrous, no matter the reason.
Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not religious, far from it in fact. But I do have a very high regard for the idea of life and what it represents. Slap in my extreme sense of individualism, and you have a recipie for a serious hatred of any and all MC-related ideas. I guess when it boils itself down, I am only okay with hypnosis fetishes that I myself formulate, as in a strange twisted way, I don't trust the intentions of other MC artists, as much as I know it isn't a necessary worry.
So yeah. Grump. How was your day? <:I

General | Posted 12 years agoOne day left, and it looks like a perfectly uninteresting day. Oh well, I'll take what I can get.
So far, I've met I think nearly everyone I meant to meet, with, like, two exceptions I think. Maybe cram those two into all the nothing I have planned from 1 until who-knows-when. On the other hand, maybe I'll have some art to post to this profile soon!
Everyone, enjoy your night! People expecting me, I think I'll be there at about 12-12:30, maybe 1!

BUUUUUUH ANTHROCON :I
General | Posted 12 years agoMe and my bf are all ready, we made sure to wake up in a timely manner...
And here we are, sitting around like a bunch of derps because we now have nothing to do for about three hours :I We seriously overestimated how long getting ready was gonna take.
Welp, maybe we should just head over to the con early? I doubt we'd be the only ones. Even so... <:I

6/3/13 Goings on
General | Posted 12 years agoI admit, even after school's wrapped up, I guess I still feel like not much has changed. I'm still sitting here, unsure of exactly what to spend my time on, a bit reluctant to do much drawing just because my mood isn't crazy-enthusiastic, which it rarely is.
The class I'm teaching at Duquesne starts on the 8th of July this year, and I'm busy readying all my material for that business, as well as securing all my plans for the week before, that being Anthrocon. My boyfriend (who lives out-of-state, for those who don't know) will be visiting me during that week to come along with, and while I'm excited for that, I admit I'm already a bit sore in the heart for not being with him for so long.
As far as art, I, as I've said, have been pretty slow. That's not to say I haven't drawn ANYTHING, I just haven't drawn much that I'd want to put here. Maybe that'll change as time goes on, we'll see. I really wanna start drawing a bit of fetish art, just get out there what I like, drawing for my own sake and all that business. And I guess that's part of the thing that's been eating me.
(Warning: Baring of soul incoming.)
I guess part of my frustration lies with the fact that it's tough for me to find an artist who does EXACTLY the stuff I enjoy. Now, I know that might sound a bit whiny and demanding, but you gotta figure: fetishes are pretty clear-cut overall, you'd think that there's at least, like, even ONE GUY whose fetishes align well with yours, right? But every time I look, I end up finding something I dislike. Like, inanimacy I'm no fan of, brainwashing is a big no, slavemaking doubly so. But if we're talking taboo transformations, especially rubber and latex, it's kinda easy to tread into those territories as well. Now, a step down from brainwashing, that being hypnosis/mind control, I... I don't know, honestly. I think my brain is still debating how okay with that idea I am. I mean, as long as that sort of thing isn't a permanent deal, because I have a lot of morals concerning the regard for peoples' sense of identity. In my mind, it's one of those things nobody else has the right to lay a finger on. So, when I see that stuff in art, I start feeling really uncomfortable, I navigate away from the image...
But the idea and the picture stays in my head.
And that leads me to a certain distinction. Often times, I intentionally don't read descriptions to images, because sometimes, JUST when I seem to find the right thing, the creator (or otherwise 'owner') of the image adds an explanation that completely ruins my perception of the artpiece. I suppose, in that case, ignorance is bliss. And to that point, I guess a statement is in order. On this website, it should be made clear that while I may like the art, or at least not hate the idea behind it, I beg you don't acquire the misconception that I on a personal level like or agree with all of it that's shown. I appreciate art, sure, but not always the ideas behind it.
(Baring of soul over. Please read as only a doorway into my mind, and if you wish to debate it, please be mellow about it.)
So, I guess I want to start drawing some fetish art, for my own sake. It probably rings awfully mundane by comparison to the severe level of kink others of a similar type show, but I should remind you, I'm a mellow guy, and that means my art shares a somewhat similar mellowness.
Arright, that's it for what's on my brain.
Have a nice day, guys.

Update on MLP art!
General | Posted 14 years agoHeya people! So, until further notice, I'm scrapping the Scape... Not giving it up, though! I just need to do a bit in advance!
That's not the real news though. So, I've gotten a few requests, and that fact that I've gotten any at all is pretty happy and impressive in and of itself!
So, I want to start things out slow. I was initially taking requests, but now I'm suddenly needing the money, so commissions it is! Here's the plan:
I do VECTORS, and SPRITEWORK.
Vectors are pretty much anything you've seen on my profile. Pretty okay stuff, thus far. Here's my pricing:
-$15 for a basic character.
-$20 for two characters or a character with a background.
-Anything more complicated we will have to discuss. The pricing WILL be updated as appropriate.
My Spritework is several workings from the all-classical Desktop Ponies. I have very few examples to give thus far, but my work includes:
One Idle Pose, One walking cycle, and Two extra animations as specified. My pricing for that?
$5. If it's a male character, custom voice acting may be included.
Those are my standings thus far. Everything else is subject to change based on how well this runs, of course. Please send me a note if you're interested, I will give you the link to send your money to, and thank you very much if you are indeed interested!
TO THOSE WHO HAVE PUT IN REQUESTS ALREADY, I will NOT charge for those, they are still free.

Taking requesty stuff!
General | Posted 14 years agoHey, I've been having a bitching artist's block, and it's subsiding finally. It'll take a bit to get back into the Scape-type stride, but Page 5 is coming along, with the introduction of yet another demigod! EXCITING THINGS.
I also felt kind of bad about the smallness of my profile, so I've decided that I want to do stuff for other people!
Here's my pitch.
You ask, and I'll get it done, as far as you want. Just want a sketch? Done. Penned? Done. Colored? I only have colored pencils, but still. Done. I'm even getting into the small spriting industry, so I could do talksprites, walksprites, general fun stuff. I do everything, furry, any maturity rating at that: TF, MLP, KIND OF ANYTHING, I'll also do small comics if ya' want! (I can do Star Wars-themed things, like species for jedi, and such, if there's a fan who likes that idea.)
Just ask, and I'll answer with ART! I mean come on, let's just have fun with this, eh?
Comment or give me a shout if there's anything you want done: I'd be happy to provide!

Moved!
General | Posted 14 years agoMy move was pretty successful, if I do say so myself! I actually was done about three days ago, but didn't get the internet up until today. Sorry to the people I left hanging! In other news, school is starting tomorrow, and I'd be shocked if I didn't have enough time for art then, so I hope to have lots of pieces in the coming days, the highlight of this being The Scape, Pages 4&5!
Talk to you guys real soon!

Moving
General | Posted 14 years agoHey, guys! Got some huge news in my life!
I... well, I'm moving!
It isn't that bad, my parents needed better jobs, and dad found a better opening in West Virginia (the northern side, so I'm still in PA range!) so we're moving over there! This mostly means that my art production is going to be on the low side, since I gotta help with packing things and the like.
That's really all there is to say! Moving about an hour away, sparing art for quite a bit!

General | Posted 14 years agoHey all! Your resident Scrafty, just kind of hanging around here, not doing anything special right now, so this journal really just serves as an announcement board. FIRST OFF: despite the fact that I only have one pic on my profile, MORE ARE COMING!!! I just haven't had much time to myself. (diagnosis: unusually busy summer!) SECONDLY: A few people who are watching me are probably wondering why I haven't linked them to the Scape yet, and there is a good reason for that! See, I decided to put the story into a more solid comic format, so I'm tying the whole thing together again. What does this mean? This means the pages are going on my webpage here! (don't worry, 'Aalanset is an anthropomorphic cat; also there's Azudon, who is a fish, so it still counts as furry!) THIRDLY: Expect a few of my submissions to be based on My Little Pony. I recently finished watching Friendship is Magic Season 1, so I'm now officially hooked on the series. (OCs ahoy!)
Almighty then, that wraps it up for my doings, what about you guys?

Hey. This is me.
General | Posted 15 years agoSo, I have an account on here finally. YAAAAAAY. I don't expect to post much art here, but when I do, please judge it honestly.
Thanks,
Alec
