Posted 10 years agoAurins are a kirin-based species of anthro. They are a generally benevolent, timid race that use their elemental magic to maintain the balance of nature. Wise and skilled with their hands, these dainty creatures choose to harmonize with their fated element rather than live in the world of humans. Their scales, horns, and hooves glow when they are startled, angered, or using their magic; they can also control this glow to light their way in darkness (unless, of course, their glow is a miasma (dull / dark color), then they can use it to shroud themselves). Each Aurin has its elemental magic assigned to it shortly after birth; this is determined by multiple things, including the moon the child was born under, the placement of certain stars and planets, the season of the birth, location, and gender. Female Aurins generally have stronger healing magic that they learn to control at an early age, while males have more difficulty. Most male Aurins control sturdy, tactile elements that they can manipulate from their surroundings such as earth, water, and ice, while females control more flowing, unseen elements that have to be conjured, such as fire, light, and shadow.
Aurins all have very light markings on their skin, each joining the others in intricate swirls. They are always lighter than or the same color as the glow of their scales / horns / hooves. There are uncommon instances where darker spots cover the skin on their shoulders, crotch / nips, and fingertips, most commonly beneath their scales. All markings are always on their skin, never on their fur (which is almost always darker than their skin).
Aurins have many uncommon and rare traits, and are classified by the kind of element that they wield / control.
