π± A new addition to our little family...! π±

Yesterday when VAIN_Vurxof was at work in his office, a co-worker brought in a box of 4 kittens that needed a home...
And, well, that's pretty much it! x3
Vain fell in love with the last of the litter that was left in the box - a golden tabby girl. She was the only girl and the only one of a golden color! He sent me pics immediately and started messaging me about what we should do. The decision was easy for both of us! We already have two happy and healthy boy kitties that would love a little sister! (Well, one sleeps all day - the other is 2 years old and has lots of energy! He'll love a playmate!)
Vain's parents offered to house the kitty until we can get her properly tested, as we don't want to risk her spreading anything to her new brothers. Vain asked the owners if the kittens and/or the mother was tested for feline leukemia or anything else, and they were not.
So, on the air of caution, she'll be staying there while we await test results! (They were also kind enough to take her to the vet for us, since we're busy with work.) Kittens have a tendency to test false-positive for feline leukemia tests, so we are crossing our fingers and toes that her test comes back clean. Otherwise, we would need to wait 6+ weeks for a re-test, which means she will have to stay at Vain's folks til then! ;_;
Her name is Flora Isabelle. (Just Flora! Isabelle is a middle name. Mainly cuz we loved both names so much, hehe.) She is an energetic and healthy looking little kitten. She's got amazing tiger stripes and a spotted tummy and she's our new baby!

My commission slots filling up SUPER rapidly has only become an issue semi-recently, within the last few months. While I am very grateful for this, I also want to try to make it easy for everyone to get a commission! I was so flabbergasted, I wasn't sure how to tackle it!
I've come up with a solution with the help of some friends.
I've compiled a document that lists what information I need for commission forms. You can copy/paste this information into your own document and fill it out ahead of time! This can be accessed at ANY time and is also linked on my website.

I don't make too many update journals here, which I should do more of. D: If you follow me on Twitter, you've seen my whoas and agony over my current laptop. It's pretty old, and usually each day requires 2+ hours of maintenance to it before I can begin working (tablet driver reinstallation, restarting a billion times, etc.) Not to mention, it only has 4GB RAM and I work on VERY large canvases at very high resolutions. My laptop crashing from CPU overload is not an uncommon occurrence. D:
VAIN_Vurxof is giving me the best gift ever. He tried over and over to tune up and fix my laptop, but he saw how bad it was an insisted on building me a custom PC (he is very skilled - it's his career area of expertise!)
The parts started arriving today for my new PC (which I am lovingly calling Nirvash typeZERO). I don't know all too much about computers, so I don't have all the specs, but it will have 16GB RAM allowing me to work on large commissions and artwork without any hassle!
I am so excited and so lucky to have Vain help me with this! It will certainly help my work and I will be able to do lots more for you guys! (Streams??? Maybe???)
ANYWAY, just wanted to share that exciting news! I can't wait to be able to work on artwork on large scales and provide cool stuff for everyone!!

Just a quick reminder of where I post heads-ups for commission openings, along with other notices.
It's not entirely efficient to make a journal for every notice or announcement, so I primarily post those on my Trello board (in the column furthest to the left.) I always post estimations for my next commission opening about an entire week before I open so that you can be prepared if you want a slot. If my estimation changes, I change it immediately on my Trello board and keep it up-to-date.
Alternatively, I am always tweeting and post announcements and such there, too! But anything of importance will ALWAYS be on my Trello.
Just incase anyone was curious! I try to keep FA journals to actually announcing that commissions are, indeed, open and other things such as con related things!

ANNOUNCEMENT! Disabling FA notes in 1 week!

It's been a long time coming for this, and after a lot of thinking, asking for opinions, etc. I've decided to get this into full swing.
I will be disabling FA notes in about a week and switching over to e-mail for my main correspondence!
I hope to get my current queue completed before this change, that way current commissioners won't be effected.
Some reasons why I am doing this!:
My e-mail that I've posted before will continue to act as my correspondence e-mail! Again, it is cupcakeartupdates[at]gmail.com.
I hope this won't be too much of an inconvenience and instead make my job a little more efficient, both for me and my clients!

I hope to get my current queue completed before this change, that way current commissioners won't be effected.
Some reasons why I am doing this!:
- E-mails allow me to answer commissioners or questions from others even when I am not at my computer on FA's webpage.
- E-mail is more secure (I know some people do not feel comfortable sharing information such as shipping addresses via FA notes, which I totally understand!)
- E-mail is much more easily cataloged and will allow me to find information I need much faster!My e-mail that I've posted before will continue to act as my correspondence e-mail! Again, it is cupcakeartupdates[at]gmail.com.
I hope this won't be too much of an inconvenience and instead make my job a little more efficient, both for me and my clients!

As you know, I had announced around 2 weeks ago now that VAIN_Vurxof and I were moving!
Yesterday, we moved from Connecticut to Pennsylvania. It was very tiring to say the least! We didn't hire movers or anything, but fortunately we had some help from family and friends, which we are SO thankful for. It made moving that much easier!
We just got the internet set-up last evening, and have been slowly trying to unpack and set things up. We are exhausted!! We had a very long ~5 hour car ride to our new home yesterday. But now, the worst is over, and we can focus on unpacking and getting our apartment in order.
Everything is still pretty much boxes now. I got my desk set up, but lots needs to be done yet!
I want to thank everyone for their patience and support! I have had a lot of inquiries about when commissions will be open again, and at this time I would guess right after Christmas. I was aiming for this Monday, but I unfortunately do not think that's possible with everything going on! D:
Again, thank you so much for your patience and support! I will continue providing you all with artwork very soon!! :3

ANNOUNCEMENT! (Commissioners, please read!)

I had sent e-mails/notes to my commissioners about this on Monday. But in the off chance someone hasn't seen it yet, I am posting a journal about it! I hope everyone gets a chance to see this, as I want all my commissioners to know of any delays well before they can happen. My top priority as an artist is providing quality artwork and service to my clients - so I am hoping this won't compromise that too much!
VAIN_Vurxof and I are moving to Pennsylvania!
On November 19th Vain got a job offer in PA, and today he put in his two week notice with his current employer.
His new job starts on the 22nd, our tentative move date is the 20th. (We still need to tour apartments and choose one.) Its going to be insane, but I am sure we can do it. (Weekend before Christmas. AUGH.)
This was all very out of the blue but is a great opportunity for him. We will miss New England, but we are excited to see where this new chapter takes us. :D
What This Means For Commissioners:
My work hours will remain mostly the same. I may stop working an hour earlier each evening to start packing. Evenings will be when we focus on packing, just so it doesn't cut into our work time too much.
I am trying to work as swiftly as possible to get as much as I can done. I may have to take the days of December 18th and 19th off to finish packing and load the moving truck. I am aiming to have all outstanding commissions done by this time.
Mailed Commissions:
All commissions that need to be mailed should be done by the end of this week, or early next week. I am hoping to get everything in the mail before December 13th. Due to weather, USPS has been experiencing delays. If I see shipments are taking longer than usual, I will alert clients individually.
Again, my artwork and all of you guys are top priority to me! If you have any concerns or questions, please e-mail me at cupcakeartupdates[at]gmail.com or you can send me a note here. I answer e-mails more often, though!

Vain and I were planning to leave for my parents tomorrow afternoon, but there's been a forecast for a pretty bad snowstorm that's just been getting increasingly worse, so in hopes of beating the storm, we are leaving tonight.
WHAT THIS MEANS:
- I will still open for normal commission slots today as originally intended. I will be opening for 5 slots. This is for anything EXCEPT Super Smash Bros. Badges. Those are going to continue to be special via journal only.
- I will be taking all my digital supplies with me. I will NOT be taking any printing/lamination supplies with me, so any badges that need to be printed/mailed will be after Thanksgiving, sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

I wanted to open for more of these tomorrow, to celebrate the release of the Wii U version of the game, but since FA has a planned outage, I decided to post this today!
These badges are special and only available for a limited time only so I am opening them by journal only.
They will be gone after Christmas! Get them while you can!!
