The biggest question I get asked is "Are your commissions open?"
I always direct people to my Trello board for this, but I realized there is a nifty way you can subscribe to cards specifically and get e-mail notifications!
This tutorial shows you how to subscribe to a Trello card. It works with any card - not just mine!

I will be in Cromwell at the Crowne Plaza from Thursday October 30th - Monday November 3rd. You can pick up your badge on any of these days.If you have a Twitter account, please do the following:

βΊ Throughout the convention I will be tweeting whenever I am in the general "hangout" areas around the con, usually by the poolside. This is the best way to see where I am. When I am in the sitting areas I will be relaxing and drawing. This is the best time to approach me to successfully retrieve your badge!
Non-Twitter Users, please do the following:
βΊ If you see me roaming around the convention, even in-suit, just approach me and tell me your name. I will be carrying the badges with me until they are all picked up. (Consequently, if you see VAIN_Vurxof and he's not with me for some ungodly reason, ask him where I am and he can retrieve me for you!)

DDoS Aftermath D:
Posted 11 years agoHi everyone! Phew, what a week/weekend this was, huh?
The DDoS attack hit everyone who uses the site quite hard. I apologize deeply for any inconvenience.
I normally use Google Docs and Trello and keep all my info off of FurAffinity, but for the Super Smash Bros. badges I did a special promotions where it was done via journal comments, so I had the inability to access that information while the site was down. :(
I am so thankful some of my customers found me on Twitter and were able to get in touch with me so I could work on their commissions while FA was down.
To remedy this from ever happening again, if I do a journal special I will be copying all comments and refs into Google docs. I feel silly for not thinking to do this before... But I (as I'm sure you too!) weren't expecting this DDoS attack or down time at ALL. D:
Later today I will be opening for commissions, 5 Super Smash Bros. Badge slots and 5 all other commissions (including Halloween) slots!
I will be taking extra precaution to back up any and all information given to me on FurAffinity.

Sorry for sort of poofing! / Super Smash Badge Pre-Order

I poofed yesterday because
VAIN_Vurxof and I attended an Ingress and Endgame launch event in NYC. It was AWESOME and we got there super early so I could also visit Nintendo World!!! It was a fun day but needless to say we walked EVERYWHERE. No public transportation involved haha. And we got back super late, so obviously I am so dead, and tired. XD I may take today to just rest and stuff as well, but I will probably work slowly on things. :3On to the next order of business! The Super Smash Bros. 3DS badges that I announced on Monday were WAY more popular than I even expected!! I am so thrilled everyone loves them and wants one. Many people asked me if I would be taking reservations or pre-orders for these badges. I am debating doing this, since I've never had anything get this great of a reception and feel it will be beneficial rather than grouping them together with all my other normal commissions. Thoughts? (The badges can be digital file only, pick-up at Furpocalypse, or mailed to you!)
If enough people are interested in a reservation/pre-order for these badges, I will set something up later today. :D

π Trello Board Changes!
Posted 11 years ago(Before I start, if you're looking for information on commission slots, they were opened recently and filled up. Please keep an eye out for future journals for when they will be open again! Thanks!)Hello everyone! I have made some cool changes to my Trello Board!
For larger commissions, I will post Work In Progress screenshots as much as I can. I will attach the WIPs to the card in question!
You can subscribe to your card by clicking on the card itself, and then under 'Actions' click 'Subsribe' and then follow the instructions. You will then get e-mail notifications if your card is moved to a new column, if I attached a WIP to it, or if I edit it in any way!
Smaller commissions such as icons or chibis may not have WIPs posted as I do work quickly. From now on, if you absolutely want a WIP posted regardless of the commission type, please state so when filling out your commission form!
I also changed the Work In Progress section of my Terms of Service to reflect this change.

So, as you all remember, last week I had a very weird Twitter bug that caused me to make a new account.
Over the course of all this, I met one other user who had the same problem. They tweeted me this morning to say it was fixed, and sure enough upon logging into my old account, it was.
It has been fixed for a few hours now, so it's probably fixed for good. However I am still a bit wary of it, as it seems to have been a bug that was only effecting a very very small subset of users. I'm not sure if Twitter fixed it, or they're still troubleshooting and it appears fixed right now.
It is a bit strange, though, since all of this happened last Thursday at approximately the same time.
So, I'm going to give it 24 hours before I go back to my old account. I asked on Twitter for opinions, everyone said to make the new account a sort of "back-up" account and remain using the old one. It would be silly to throw the old one away, as it had over 1,000 followers and now has over 900. (Followers are important when you use Twitter as an outlet to advertise commissions!)
I am so sorry for any inconvenience this might have caused. D: I didn't even hear back from Twitter Support so I have no idea what happened!!

I would suggest following my old account that is now fixed, CupcakeHyena. My new account that I made when this all happened is still CupcakeCreature. If it's still fixed tomorrow, my old much loved account will be re-instated as CupcakeCreature and my new one will have a name like CupcakeBackup or something silly.I am so sorry for any inconvenience this might have caused. D: I didn't even hear back from Twitter Support so I have no idea what happened!!

For some reason, my Twitter notifications were not accessible anywhere.
Not on Chrome, Firefox, the official Twitter app or Twidere. Also inaccessible from Firefox on Vain's computer. So across one mobile device and two different computers, I could not load my notifications no matter what I tried. Even weirder, my other private account was totally normal.
I changed my password, my e-mail and my Twitter handle and nothing changed. I also revoked access from all apps (even official ones) on my account. The only thing I am left with doing is making a new Twitter account, which really stinks because I broke 1,000 followers last month. (Which was great for advertising my commissions, and getting my name out there!)
And yes, I DID contact Twitter Support with no success. Because I use Twitter as a platform to announce and advertise commissions, I chose to make a new account in the meantime because it can take weeks for them to get back to me.
My old Twitter handle is @CupcakeHyena and will be shut down once I make the full transition over to the new account.

Proud to be a Furry!
Posted 11 years agoI don't normally write "life" journals, but something happened yesterday that I thought would totally warrant a journal post.
Yesterday after dinner, vain_vurxof and I went grocery shopping as we do every week. We always go to the local Stop & Shop and usually get the same things, nothing too unusual.
Before I continue, I have a BUNCH of convention shirts, mainly from Furfright and Anthrocon. As well as shirts from 2012-present from Furnando's Sandwich Shop in Pittsburgh. I wear these during the week since I usually am in the house working 9 - 5 and not going out until later. They're just my "everyday whatever" shirts I wear. Yesterday, I was wearing my Furnando's Shirt I just got at this last Anthrocon.
At the end of the shopping trip, we stopped at the deli in the store to get lunch meat and cheese for the week. The guy helping us and cutting our meat was nice and normal, just asking what we wanted and doing his job. He was working with an older woman who looked to be stocking stuff. I saw her chit chatting a bit hush hush with another employee off to the side but thought nothing of it.
As we were ordering some cheese, the older woman looks at me and says loudly, "Okay, what does Furry Land mean?"
I had my mouth full because the man working with us just gave us a sample of cheese. I swallowed it quickly, pointed to my shirt and said, "Oh this?"
"Yeah," she says, with a really snarky look on her face.
"Oh, it's a sandwich shop."
"Oh, REALLY?" She had a very clear tone of disbelief, as if I was lying.
"Yes, it's in Pittsburgh. They call it 'Furry Land' during a conventi-"
"A FURRY convention?"
"Yes."
"*scoffs* Enough said." She walks away shaking her head, Vain and I just laughed nervously. The man working with us was a bit taken aback and continued trying to do his job.
I reflected on this a bit and ultimately feel bad for that woman. She clearly is so unhappy that it's easy for her to openly judge people.
I really wish I said something to her, even if it was simply "You shouldn't judge others for something you don't understand." Chances are she had a pre-conceived notion of what furries are, probably defined by that CSI episode or Dr. Phil.
Then I realized, this never happened to me. I wear my furry shirts in public quite often without thinking. Why? Because I'm proud to be a part of this community and fandom!
This fandom does a lot of amazing things. Raise money for charity, put smiles on faces, save sandwich shops (Furnando's) from going completely out of business...
So, to that woman at Stop & Shop... I am really sorry your fursona is a big frowny face.

With Redbubble, I have the ability to post a t-shirt privately that's only viewable to me, and can be ordered ONLY by myself.
With this ability, I want to start offering custom t-shirt commissions!
So, in that pricing, the t-shirt and shipping and handling is included.
I will post more information regarding this soon!
They will be available tomorrow evening which is the same time I plan to re-open normal/badge commissions.

Posted 11 years agoOh my GOODNESS. This was the best Anthrocon by far!! I had an AWESOME time!
I would love to list all the amazing people I met/hung out with, but there were so many and I don't even know half of their FA usernames. You know who you are though! I met so many awesome new people, a lot of people recognized my in-suit which was so surreal and cool!!! I hope everyone that wanted to say hi or meet got the chance to. If not, of course I will be going next year!
I had such an amazingly wonderful time. I hope everyone else did, too!
I will be posting some of my favorite pictures that were taken of me in-suit, and in general! :3
