Posted 14 years agoSo after a month now of working on a permanent basis (which means benefits ^_^), it now looks like my ass may soon be on the unemployment line... *sighs* again. I swear to god just when things are looking better and stable, life likes to fucking throw me right back on my ass. It's like I just get situated, looking as if I can get things sorted out and then shit goes fucking back under. I mean, right now I was looking forward to working this weekend and earning a bonus for doing so. Not anymore. So yeah, seems like anytime a husky gets ahead, something always happens to bring him back down.
No FurFright for me
Posted 14 years agoAfter much consideration, I've decided not to attend FurFright this year. I just have more pressing issues that need to be taken care of first before I could commit money to a convention. I need to get car repairs done, get a real bed to sleep on (air mattresses get old after awhile), and save up money for a computer before my laptop completely dies on me. While FurFright would be an awesome time, I just do need to prioritize my finances and conventions have to come last compared to everything else. Additionally, there will be another event going on in Boston that Saturday that I can attend as well (which would also be cheaper in the long run). So while I'd love to make a convention this year, I'm just going to have to say no as I need my money to go to different sources that at this time are more necessary then a convention.
Also, don't read this as a rating on the convention. Furfright is a wonderful convention and if I had the financial means to attend I would. Just don't have the time to save up with all the other things I need to take care of at the same time as well.

Posted 14 years agoAnthrocon 2012 will be held at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh, PA, from JUNE 14 to JUNE 17, 2012. Please note that this is one week earlier than was previously announced! We hope that this does not cause any inconvenience for any of our members; if it does, we are deeply sorry.
this is dur to the NHL, Pittsburgh Penguins and the Anthrocon committee coming to an agreement with an extra 100 rooms avail for AC next year. The city of Pittsburgh has the rare opportunity to host the 2012 NHL ENTRY DRAFT the weekend of AC so the agreement made was Uncle Kage moves AC ahead 1 week and gains 100 rooms for the con.

Husky Sled Woes (aka Car Trouble)
Posted 14 years agoOk, I've been having this lingering issue with my car, so any mechanic furs out there that could help, any advice would be appreciated. I've been having trouble with my turn signals lights being intermittent. They just suddenly stop and start working. I know it's not the bulbs (as both the hazards and signals use the same bulbs and hazards still work whilst the signals don't) and I've already replaced the fuse, so it's not that. The only thing I've noticed is these common factors. 1) I notice that sometimes my headlights will dim severely and after that, my turn signals won't work. 2) If my car starts rough and/or dies right after starting, the signals won't work regardless of if they were working before that or not (if it did die, this would be upon restarting). 3) The signals tend to come back to life after dieing while I am driving on the Highway (I drive bout 20 minutes freeway to get to work so averaging 60-70 mph). Also, the signals tend to die while doing city driving. 4) Signals tend to fuck up more/sooner if I'm using my i-Pod FM transponder (which plugs into an accessory outlet on my car). That's about all I noticed so far.
My car is high mileage (just passed the big 150,000 mark). Last year I had to replace the water pump which had died (life span). Two years ago, my battery tested low, but after some hours on a charger came right back (it's the same battery that was in their when I bought the car 6 years ago). My passenger side CV joint needs to be replaced. I just feel like it has to do with some part of the electrical system as a whole rather then just something with the turn-signal circuit. A co-worker said it could be the relay or internal switch failing (i.e. the part has reached it's life span) but that doesn't seem to make sense with how... I guess predictable or reliable(?) it is on what will cause the signals to stop working or working again. It's not just random. I'm no car person (hell, probably couldn't even change my own oil). I'm just trying to maybe find out the cause so I can kinda financially plan to fix this. Anyone have any ideas on what the potential cause could be? Any help would be appreciated.

Posted 14 years agoSo the past couple days have been hectic, both in work and employment opportunities. So I got contacted last week by a recruiter from the company that landed me the two day wonder. Well, they had another option that they felt would be a good fit for me. i met up with him and had a quick interview, him just trying to get a feel of what kind of person I am. Yesterday he contacted me to see if I wanted to pursue this opportunity. I decided to wait 24 hours to talk to my current employer to see if my current job was going to be made into a permanent position or not (I was 4 months into a 6-8 month temporary contract.). Well, today the leader for my project came in to let me know that starting August 1, I'm a full employee there. So YAY!!!! Happy time *does a happy dance*
Need to move
Posted 14 years agoAnyone looking for or know of someone needing a roommate south of the Boston area? I need to move from my current place. Just the parking situation is not working anymore and I need to actually be able to head to work when I need to, not when my neighbors decide their willing to move their car. I work in Mansfield so kinda need to stay around that "general area." I work an early off-set shift (around 6-2, sometimes 4 when their is a mandatory meeting), so commuting isn't too much of a bother. Just my current situation isn't working out due to the parking issue (getting blocked in by neighbor's car and not being able to get out).
It's my birthday, and a most depressing one
Posted 14 years agoWell, I've quite gotten used to my birthdays being nothing more then a date on the calendar. Can't even remember the last time I did something out of the ordinary to actually celebrate it. Not to say that it's always passed unnoticed, just seems the notice for it each year gets smaller and smaller. I mean, I really didn't do anything to celebrate it this year. Just did some obligatory thank yous to family and friends for their "Happy Birthday" on Facebook. Though I did get a nice text message from someone, and that really did mean something that they remembered.
Another thing is for a week, I have been having to deal with a mice infestation. It isn't going well for me, but I have made some progress and did manage to nullify two mice this week, but there are still some of the little jerks running around. I didn't really want to kill them, but until I can find all the way they are getting into my apartment, I have to take steps to reduce their presence and one of those way is with traps (and I could only afford the lethal kind sadly). The main problem is that they are getting onto the kitchen counter and surfaces where I prepare and cook my food and which is also where I clean dishes as well. I have found their feces from the counter, to the sink, the stove, and even in the drying rack for my dishes. I have manage to block off one entrance hole, and located another. Just not sure how I'm going to block that last one off. If I could afford it, I would get a cat, but it's just not a feasible investment when my financial future is in doubt.
Things at my job started out bad, and just got worse from there. The client whose business keeps my job going is unhappy that we don't have data for them the same day they release samples for testing. To be brief, they expect us to get done in 24 hours what actually takes close to 37 hours just to prepare for analysis. There is no way to actually do that, and they are threatening to cut sampling to us by 1/2 if our turn around time doesn't improve (which is close to impossible, as we are already beating previous numbers for samples prepared in a week or a day). So yeah, everyone is stressed at work. They are hiring a couple more people and ordering more supplies for us, but still, it takes time to actually get things implemented. So till then, it's pretty stressful around work. It has even been rumored that mandatory weekend work could be expected (hell, we might even be forced to work on Monday, July 4th, if things don't get done quickly enough the next couple of days). Then to top it off, found out that the official transcript from my college to my employer was never received. Haven't yet figured out what happened or if I'll have to pay for another one to be sent.
About the only good thing today besides the unexpected text was that an item I've been wanting for a months came in today, so that was nice.

Yeah, my mom just did that too me and no idea how I'm supposed to interpret it. Better yet, she's still asleep so doubt I'll be able to find out till this afternoon. I mean, how am I supposed to interpret "Maybe you should spend your money somewhere else....." It's like, I've only spent money on life expenses/necessities. I need a place to live, food to eat, and an insured car to get to work. Where else was I supposed to spend my money.

Posted 14 years agoWell, today while at work I heard talk that just instantly stabbed my heart full of dread...
My coworkers were mentioning that firings at work could be happening soon. Last time I heard talk like this... well two weeks later I found myself without a job. Now I can't help but worry that I'll lose this job too... I mean I was told it would be a temporary (6-8 months expected but dependent on work and the clients needs). I was just hoping that it would longer then just a month (was wishing it'd turn into a permanent position, but that seems like it's nothing but a pipe dream >>).
Just feels like I can't get ahead, and time I just start thinking I'm getting on top of things and everythings looking good, life just finds a way to fuck me over. I mean really, here how things have gone:
Get a new job
Couple months later me and my mate break up and then I lost my job
Get a new job I like better
Lose job again three days later
Have 6 interviews within a few weeks
No offers made
Call current employer, still making decisions on interviews made
Week later offered position
Now it looks like this may be coming to a close as well. It'd just be nice to actually have a job lasts more then a month or two that isn't minimum wage. Actually get some good experience built up that will help land a better job later one. I'm getting tired of getting a month or two experience before I'm let go. Maybe I should just leave the Northeast. Nothing but bad luck has happened to me here (hell, found out I wasn't awarded my diploma yet as I had to straighten out some stuff with my school when I first moved out here). It's like the only good thing I had going out here was my mate.... now I no longer have that... Just I really love this area and all of my close friends are here

Husky Updates

Well, I found a job with an Environmental Testing Company about a half hour away. It's a very easy commute for a reason I'll be bringing up in a second. There's only two things that suck about it. My shift starts at 4 AM (meaning I'm getting up at 2:30 AM for work) but I do get off at 12:30 PM which is very nice *woof ^^*. The off hours also add an extra bonus as I'm on I-95 when others aren't (it takes me like 1 minute to get onto I-95 around Providence place, and those around this area know what a hell hole of traffic that can be >>).
The second thing that sucks about it is that it is only temporary. The company I'm working for is working on samples from the Deepwater Horizon oil spill that happened in the Gulf almost a year ago. So my job consists of prepping those samples for analysis (seems like I'm mostly going to be working with all sorts of muds from sediments). From what I can tell, unless things change, when those work orders stop coming in, I'll mostly likely be out of a job again. I'm ok with this though as the company was upfront that they saw this position as only a temporary one. Just also sucks cause I've really enjoyed my time at this job (even though it's only been a week). So in a couple weeks, I'll keep on searching for steady job as I can't just hang my financial stability on a hope that a permanent job will open up.
So I'm doing a lot better as I'm getting out for 8.5 hours each day (which is a nice change) and I'm a little more financial secure then I was a few weeks ago. Just have to tighten up the belt till I get my first paycheck (which doesn't happen till the 15th. Luckily I have caring parents that are helping to cover my costs till my paycheck comes in).

I mean really, I'm getting sick of all the damn BS that some users on here are pulling. My god, if you don't like something, then just leave it the fuck alone. Why do you sit there and take the time to comment about how ugly something is (i.e. the Vagina and Penis hate going on here) or how you had to view a fetish you don't like cause the artist doesn't or didn't want to take the time to make a thumbnail. It's so much easier to just hit the little -X- on a tab or the window rather then sit there and write a comment. Let's follow the saying of "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say nothing at all." Constructive criticism is alright when trying to help an artist improve or just pointing out something that seemed off to you. If all you are gonna write is about how you dislike/hate the piece, then don't write it. I'm tired of all the "Gahhh, that is so disgusting! How dare you even thought of posting that" and similar comments. Grow up people. You are gonna have to see a myriad of stuff you don't want to see in life. Just deal with it and move on. Do you sit there and write to networks when they run a show you don't like? No, you don't! You change the damn channel. So start doing that on here, but instead of changing the channel, close the tab!
Also, stop being so immature and making private arguments that could be left in notes public to all. Sure, you have "witnesses" to the "alleged" events, but it just create unnecessary drama when third parties start to add to the debate. If you have a problem with how someone is acting or what they are doing, send them a note, Don't start arguing with them via comments and then go make a journal post where eventually the debate ends up in the comments. If you just had a fight with User_X, we don't need to know about it. Who really gives a shit about that?! It's your own damn personal drama, and please keep it that way. You don't need to start bringing in 10 or 20 other people into that private drama and sparking a huge debate and drama show. And if sending them note doesn't work, then either block them or reporting them. It's that simple. Don't go making unnecessary drama by making it all public where people will (NOT MIGHT BUT WILL!) comment on it and insert themselves and start causing more drama.
Also, some need to come back to reality that their fursona Is Just a Character Only! I don't care if you want to claim it's like a pen name or you have a deep personal connection to it, it's still nothing more then a character. Sure, to me Ruffe is how I would be if I was able to be an anthropomorphic animal, but it's still a character. A facade, a mask, and no more real then Harry Potter or Hermione Granger. They're all characters and nothing about them is real! So stop being so but hurt if someone finds your fursona sexy or hot. It's gonna happen. And get rid of your romantic ideals of "...my body is only meant to be attractive to ONE PERSON ONLY and that is my mate." WTF!!! Anybody can find your body attractive, though they have no right to take any actions on that attraction. So stop being butt-hurt about it. Seriously, if you think that your body can only be attractive to your current partner, that's a lie. If it was true, then there wouldn't be such a thing as casual sex. If you truly believe no one but your mate can find your body attractive, please seek Psychiatric help as you are really fucked up in the head.
Just honestly, grow up people! Stop inserting yourself into places you aren't wanted, stop bringing your private drama public, and stop getting so butt-hurt over simple matters. If you really feel bothered by a user on here, FA staff created the block feature for a reason, and it wasn't to add a nifty but useless tool. Black their ass from commenting on stuff you post or sending you notes. Sure it may piss them off, but it's a hell of a lot better then creating useless drama storms!

So start doing that on here, but instead of changing the channel, close the tab!
Also, stop being so immature and making private arguments that could be left in notes public to all. Sure, you have "witnesses" to the "alleged" events, but it just create unnecessary drama when third parties start to add to the debate. If you have a problem with how someone is acting or what they are doing, send them a note, Don't start arguing with them via comments and then go make a journal post where eventually the debate ends up in the comments. If you just had a fight with User_X, we don't need to know about it. Who really gives a shit about that?! It's your own damn personal drama, and please keep it that way. You don't need to start bringing in 10 or 20 other people into that private drama and sparking a huge debate and drama show. And if sending them note doesn't work, then either block them or reporting them. It's that simple. Don't go making unnecessary drama by making it all public where people will (NOT MIGHT BUT WILL!) comment on it and insert themselves and start causing more drama.
Also, some need to come back to reality that their fursona Is Just a Character Only! I don't care if you want to claim it's like a pen name or you have a deep personal connection to it, it's still nothing more then a character. Sure, to me Ruffe is how I would be if I was able to be an anthropomorphic animal, but it's still a character. A facade, a mask, and no more real then Harry Potter or Hermione Granger. They're all characters and nothing about them is real! So stop being so but hurt if someone finds your fursona sexy or hot. It's gonna happen. And get rid of your romantic ideals of "...my body is only meant to be attractive to ONE PERSON ONLY and that is my mate." WTF!!! Anybody can find your body attractive, though they have no right to take any actions on that attraction. So stop being butt-hurt about it. Seriously, if you think that your body can only be attractive to your current partner, that's a lie. If it was true, then there wouldn't be such a thing as casual sex. If you truly believe no one but your mate can find your body attractive, please seek Psychiatric help as you are really fucked up in the head.
Just honestly, grow up people! Stop inserting yourself into places you aren't wanted, stop bringing your private drama public, and stop getting so butt-hurt over simple matters. If you really feel bothered by a user on here, FA staff created the block feature for a reason, and it wasn't to add a nifty but useless tool. Black their ass from commenting on stuff you post or sending you notes. Sure it may piss them off, but it's a hell of a lot better then creating useless drama storms!

Why still blue
Posted 14 years agoI've started to question whether or not I really feel like I should be a blue husky. I know furry is all about fantasy and having fun... but really, why blue? I like blue, it's my favorite color, but I could just have the blue eyes, dyed blue head fur, just the blue collar. I just really can't think of a good reason not to just be a normal husky color and have blue highlights. When I decided to be blue for my husky when I made my species change, thought being blue might be something unique to make my fursona different from other husky ones... but now I've learned that blue huskies aren't so rare. I don't know, maybe it's silly to worry about such a simple thing. All the furs I know know me as a blue husky. Maybe I should just leave myself as blue and not worry about what color my fur is and worry about what's under that fur and skin.

2010 meme

Tsunami-Dragon had done this 2010 meme. Decided to fill it out as well since I was thinking of doing a 2010 review.
1) Where did you begin 2010?
With my ex-mate in our basement apartment.
2) What was your status by Valentine’s Day?
In a slightly open relationship
3) Were you in school anytime this year?
Nope, I got my BA in June of 09.
4) How did you earn your money?
Work
5) Did you have to go to the hospital?
Nope. I didn't have medical problems and suffered no serious accidents.
6) Did you have any encounters with the police?
None that I can think of. I've only ever gotten pulled over once in my driving life, and only one accident that only involved my vehicle.
7) Would you relive 2010 over and over again?
Some parts yes, other parts no. So this is mixed.
8) What did you purchase that was over $1000?
At one time, nothing. I've spent much more then a $1000 on repaying my student loans.
9) Did you know anybody who got married?
Yes, couple of college friends got married (actually two of my friends married each other :O)
10) Did you know anybody who passed away?
Yes. Not close but some acquaintances from my home town passed away.
11) Did you know anyone who had a baby?
Nope
12) Did you move anywhere?
Nope, stayed in the same place the whole year.
13) What concerts/shows did you go to?
Only thing I did that is remotely related is going to FurFright 2010, as well as caught a couple movies.

Yes, and voted in all elections (both special senator vote and November).

For most of 2010, yes. Quit my 2009 job to get a better job, but then laid off after less then 2 months. Currently unemployed.

A small town in Massachusetts.

Uneventful and not so fun. Just some cards (with money) and a small birthday cake. But nothing special happened really.

Week from hell (busy)
Posted 15 years agoOk, so here we go. This week is gonna be a busy one: a trip, to finishing out my old job, to getting things in order for the new one that starts next week, and then heading off to Furfright. And to top things off, I'm gonna run out of clean clothes before Furfright so have to find some time to do laundry before I head off. So this week, I have something to do everyday, but at least it ends with a great time. About the only time I don't have something planned to do is Thursday afternoon. Since I'll be gone today and tomorrow, I won't be on or around here much.
Whicked Awesome!! (Non- N.E. F*** Yeah)
Posted 15 years agoOk, so I had a job interview today. For a year now I've been working at Walgreens while my Chemistry Degreee drains me of money (student loan debt). So I got a call last week about a job opening and went in for a job interview today. While leaving I had both a good feeling about the company and about my performance during the interview. Now, I heard of this job through a hiring agency (basically companies use them to do the leg work of checking out resumes so then they only have to go through the process of interviews). So once I get done with the interview, I called the recruiter to let him know how it went and such. I head off, and around 10 minutes down the road, I get a call back from the recruiter, and my thought is this isn't good.
Well, come to find out that not only were they offering me a job, they wanted me to start the next day. It's been pushed back to November 1 due to my current employment and prior engagements (me and my boyfriend have some hotel reservations that can't be canceled this late, one of those for Fur Fright which I wouldn't get a refund back from if I don't go, which I want to go of course ^_^. Got to pop the con cherry sometime ;)).
Sorry if this is a little disjointed, but I'm still on the high from this job offer as it's the first good news I've had in a year. Even over two hours later, I feel I could run a mile in seconds.
