So about the world right now (Black Lives Matter)
Posted 5 years agoFirst off, Black Lives Matter - all lives will matter only if black lives do, and the reality is that maaany people don't think black lives matter. If you don't agree, we really can't be friends.
There's a genuine sense of the US government - my government - adopting proto-fascism (if not outright being there already). It worries me that certain powerful people want to rule the world in this oppressive way, pushing the limits of the system until they break and the US effectively is the will of the president.
Hell, seeing the police in general act veeeeey brutally towards those who show any sign of not quite falling in line with their norms (and not even then) is worrying enough - this really made me question the system of police en mass. Even in my city, where policing *seems* calm, there's still a lot that I don't know about their actions. I'm in a position where I don't have to run in with their police and their system on a day to day basis.
And really, more than anything, all cops are bastards for supporting and making this system the way it is - I really do not want it to be around, I want to see what can be done in place of the hyperviolent pantomime of justice.
Just thinking about this gives me anexity - I knew policing was flawed, but I don't know it was *this* flawed and rotten from the start. I'm so worried for the genuinely good people here, just so upset that I didn't awake to this story until just now.
I'm serious - go to protests if you can, and donate to bail funds & black causes if you can. You can do it in fun ways too - itch.io is offering a biiiig games bundle that includes Night in the Woods, OneShot, Minit, Quadlateral Cowboy, and so many others, for a minimum of $5

Dragon's life in heck
Posted 5 years agoI'm not sick, but I sure am acting like it. With the need for self-isolating, I've honestly gotten quite the bit more needy/restless. My situation is such that I'm able to do my job and universitying from home, but it's gonna be a while and it's gonna be trying.

Posted 6 years agoOne of the people that I was planning on rooming with for MFF 19 has dropped out, and I'm left with a vacancy as a result. I'm looking for a mutual to fill that room space!
This room is within the Hyatt Regency O'Hare, the convention hotel, and is from Wed-Mon. The flat rate for staying there the whole time is $215, though the price can be adjusted if you are staying fewer nights. This would be a double bed room, with me and 2 others already within it. Sleeping arrangements can be discussed, though expect a generally chill and laid-back atmosphere within the room.
Message me here or on Discord/Telegram if you want to join in! Mutuals are highly preferred.

Christmas haul! (It includes a Nintendo Switch now)
Posted 7 years agoLow-key christmas here, but the gift haul sure wasn't! Among the spoils were a new GPU for my machine, GTX 1060 (opened up early), as well as a Nintendo Switch with a bunch of additional goodies (pro controller, carrying cases). Among them, Smash and Mario Odyssey are my presents.

Too much backlog, too little time
Posted 7 years agoI realize I have a lot of art that I haven't uploaded in an official capacity. Blame my buisness over the past few months for that - that, and my obsession with playing FFXIV. I have actually gotten the ref for my long-planned "Cirus Kel" redesign form, and have also gotten the banner for my three new Curuses finished, so you'll be seeing both for sure.
If there's something that I'm in that I haven't uploaded yet, and you would like to see it here soon, just let me know, I'm gonna try to get through my backlog & try new tools to do so.

Notes about FFXIV (Characters + Worlds)
Posted 7 years agoBarely even a month in, and it looks like this game's gonna stay for a long time to come. I'll be maining this game as my regular MMO, but I do have plans to do stuff in both Guild Wars 2 and Warframe whenever the desire arises.
My main (and currently my only) character on XIV is my Miqo'te (catboy) arcanist, Keeh'li Laahto. He currently resides on the Cerebus server within the European data center, so if any of you play there or have plans to play a character there, I'd be willing to add you as a friend there. As of this journal, he's reached level 20, and probably will reach many more.
I have plans for creating an alternative character on the Excalibur server (within the North American data center), since I'm aware many of you play there or prefer to. This one would be a Au Ra (dergboy) gladiator, and I'll plan to join up the Kweh free company on there as soon as possible. I haven't decided on a name yet nor have I created that character in the game, but I will give updates on that when its ready.
I'd appreciate most anyone who is interested in adding me, whether I already know you or not. Just assisting as a member of a party would be very helpful, especially when it comes to dungeons. Do expect some chatting up from me, especially if I've had a great time with ya.

Aureum for it. Still in the free trial mode, but I'm really enjoying the game quite heavily, and I've still got a long ways to go before I really need to go beyond the trial. Posted 8 years agoI got the spoil I was really looking forward to this Christmas, a PS4 and various awesome single-player games for it! Persona 5 and Yakuza 0 were great first-day choices, but the pack-in title of Battlefront 2 not so much.

Scattered thoughts (mff wrapup + AD Twitter)
Posted 8 years agoMff 2017 was fun and exhausting at the same time for me. Funnily enough, even though it was my second time at that convention, I got hired on as staff there. The tabletop game room sort of became my den as a result, being what I was supposed to maintain. Next time, I think I'll actually play some of these games, or even bring a few from my own stock to mess with.
I know that wasn't planning on attending mff 2018, but that's back when I was "just" an attendee. Now that I'm staff there, I have both the incentive and the guarantee to attend. Definitely getting a room at the Hyatt this time, Hilton sucked for room rate and travel to and from the con area.
I'm glad to meet the people I did meet, and had fun with what I did. My only regret is that I didn't have as many meals out with others than I did, but that's something to change next time I'm around.
Now to readjust and finish the school semester - man, the prospect of transferring to my uni's comp sci program is tempting.
On another note, I've set up an after-dark Twitter account, as more of a venting growing for lewdness, feelings, and other stray thoughts. It should be pretty easy to find on Twitter, but I only accept those who I know - mutuals and all.

One Very Important Thought (Redesign Followup Journal)
Posted 8 years agoYesterday, I announced a major plan to redesign my dragon 'sona. While that is still in progress, I've given further thought to the character.
I happen to manage two alternative forms of my dragon sona currently: Cirus Matekia (aka "Kurzen Keel"), and Toymancer Cirus. In the past, both forms tended to be underused in favor of the "original" Curus. However, the redesigned Cirus fits best within fantasy settings, especially my own tabletop RPG. This gives the redesigned Cirus a focus towards realizing fantasy stories and scenarios.
Giving this focus to Fantasy Cirus means that the other two forms can have their own focuses: Kurzen Keel will have focus towards sci-fi stories and scenarios, and Toymancer Cirus would be an outlet for the interests of toy, inflatable, and inflation. This should give divergent yet unified identities of the blue stormdragon, and give each variant a chance to shine in the spotlight.
In fact, for Toymancer Cirus, I'll be doing some major changes there. I'm planning on closing down the
toymancer-curus account, as it negatively diverted attention from the character variant in the long run. In addition, I will be commissioning a redesigned reference for representing a more divergent identity from Fantasy Cirus & Kurzen Keel. I plan on uploading the art backlog from the old alternative account to here, and will be creating organized folders for the character forms, including an archive for the "original" Curus.
All of this should improve my quality just that little bit better, I feel. I'm sure a lot of you would be happy with this change.
