Seeking someone to love
Posted 9 years agoNot everything worked out for me in terms of romance. A close friend of mine and I decided together, but for various reasons we couldn't. Now I'm left seeking for someone to love. Someone that I can emotionally and intelligently connect with, and someone with a vision that I can help realize. I've still got plenty of time to look, but it'll be a while before this feeling of loneliness really escapes me.
Dragons and those from the Midwest area US would be better bets for me, and if someone is also interested in game development as a career, then I would be very interested to interact with that fellow person. I'm sure they exist somewhere in this world.
Give a shout if you think you want to try this out.

Meet'N'Fuck Klacedom
Posted 10 years agoSome of you might be aware that I've been involved in the controversy surrounding a certain furry "game" and its ridiculously self important developer. Said game is currently making the rounds in advertising on this site, and it offers the bare minimum needed to be interactive, trying to pass itself off as a visual novel where the visuals are uninteresting beyond the furry aesthetic, and where the novel is tripe that follows skeleton plots of good games in the theme park version of Japan. Both those make it a questionable use of $10, and the layered behavior of the dev make it hard to justify even with the rationale of supporting community projects.
The kicker to all this is that the game developer part of me actually still thought about ways to improve the game. First, starting off by taking the scenario and characters within the game and using them to their fullest extent. Then, so that the player isn't always subjected to dialogue all the time, and has more agency in what they want to do. I could easily have done this using static screens and simple transitions to provide this bit of exploration, perhaps guided by arrows. It sounded fine to me so far, even if I wasn't going to do it because of the myriad legal issues surrounding the project.
Then I realized I would have been improving the game to a level only as interactive as, well, the game featured here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r5QfNv0lhvM
And that was the exact moment I decided the game wasn't worth my time anymore. From now on, I will be calling that game "Meet'N'Fuck Klacedom". I would suggest using that as well. When a Newsgrounds adventure game is a genuine improvement over a $10 game, something has gone horribly wrong.
Support furry community projects, games or not, that aren't actually a load of tripe. Buyer beware.

Update on life + commission ideas
Posted 10 years agoThings have stabalized a bit more. Getting into a rhythm with school, and enjoying myself both on IRC and with close friends. Probably can squeeze in gaming along with that, my plan is to get Rainbow Six Siege while it is still on its sale on Friday morning. Perhaps I might commission some more art, but I'm not entirely settled on that.
I am thinking of getting a series of song-inspired commissions, all inspired by Bemani songs of some sort. Already got a few, but I'd love to see ones for kors k songs (Oarfish, decade, tripping contact, Bad Maniacs), or even a few for DJ Taka's stuff (Colors especially noteworthy). Kinda still looking out for artists to do this, however.

Update on Major/Minor (+ I might be going to a con)
Posted 10 years agoThis will be the last you will hear about that game from me. I am focusing my efforts elsewhere.
At the very least, I have read the announcement from the developer himself. It took a while for it to happen, but it does appear that the developer has shown a willingness to listen to criticism and to change for the better. Unlike many wannabe developers on Steam, like Digital Homicide or Kobra Studios, the developer is now focusing on making good products and letting the cash naturally reward him. And I actually kinda like his revised writing and ability to get a visual novel working in RPG Maker MV at all. Though, I am disappointed that the RPG features of that engine will not be used. Damn shame, but it is what it is.
I do apologize to the developer regardless, he is putting in an honest show of effort in regards to the game, and does appear to be a better person than at first glance. I also apologize to the community if I was attacking anyone in regards to the game, as my efforts were only meant to focus on the game itself. And finally, I do apologize if outdated or resolved information is cultivating a false impression of the game and the developer. Because after all, people really do change.
This has taken a toll on me, as much as it has improved and changed me. My priorities are my games and my schoolwork. I have projects in the works that I may announce if the time is right. Keep your eyes peeled.
On a brighter note, I may end up going to
Fursquared this year. This isn't entirely settled yet, and I'm not exactly sure what I'll be doing, but it's exciting to finally go to a furry conference. I will update when I'm much less fuzzy on this.
EDIT: To those who came here from this Facebook post (archive link), just know that the information in the publicly shared sources is primary archived through the Archive.is website. It is a third-party website that, when given a URL of something that is likely to be changed or removed, will create an instant and fully browseable snapshot of that page. The document also uses Imgur image links, but these line up with the Archive.is documents. It is nigh impossible to fake Archive.is pages, which is why the site sees frequent use in these circumstances.
In addition, this is not a victory for the developer, despite what he has said. I have agreed to do this journal with him on the condition that he removed two particular pieces of content. One of them being a Steam forum thread by a follower of his which posted a tangently related conversation with me trying to get in touch with said follower (said post included this bunch of images) - thereby using it as an excuse to discredit me. The other was a post of review quotes on Facebook, the fourth one starting with "My negative view was solely on the thought of what Curus Keel posted" with no context, giving a very false impression of myself. He has removed those as I requested, but the Facebook post that replaced it is much worse, and the fact that I did not know about this until another person directed me to it is legitimately making me angry. After you have made a truce with someone, you do not call this a "victory", nor do you immediately accuse the other person of harassment and spreading false information.
This notice will remain until the developer retracts his post and puts up an apology to me and the community for the broad and subjective claims that he has made about me, with the mutual promise that we'll no longer talk about each other from now on. He has provoked me on this. I only have this notice put up because the user has chosen to keep me blocked from his communication.

Happy New Year!
Posted 10 years agoNow let's hope I fare better in my life this new year.
Merry Hoardmass
Posted 10 years agoI've taken time to celebrate the famed dragon holiday, where we add to each others hoards while showing the sizes of our spoils. You may know it better as Christmas.
Regardless of what you've called it, I've decided to use my spoils on both commissions and Steam games. Felt both needed expansion in different ways, and it helps to own so many different experiences at once to look at and take inspiration from.
And, well, this nearly caps off my first year officially as a furry. It started as an experiment for me, but blossomed into something more, way more than anyone could have ever imagined.

Open call for Sword Coast Legend players
Posted 10 years agoI am planning on running adventures as a DM within that game within the future. Willing to experiment with this game for the multiplayer mode alone. Anyone interested should post in this journal - as of right now, it's $20 for the base game and free to play for this weekend.
Frankly, I needed something to wash my mouth out ever since the game which I will not name entangled me.

Avoid Major/Minor like the plauge
Posted 10 years agoYou may have seen this game hyped to hell and back within the Reddit and general furry community. Well, here's me to say this: Don't buy it under any circumstances.
Despite what it seems to be, it is a horribly written visual novel that serves only to fulfill the vain fantasies of the creator, only made to sell unnoticed to the portion of the community who would accept anything with anthromorphic animals in it.
Please make sure not to encourage content that makes the whole community look bad. And please look over my Steam review for the game. Most importantly, vote with your wallet.

A nice birthday for this rurring drake
Posted 10 years agoSoon after this journal is posted, I'll likely be asleep. It feels like a lot has changed, and even through I've been a recent entry into the furry community, I felt it has really impacted me in a multitude of ways.
This will be my first birthday there. I'm tempted to say it's my hatchday. Maybe both are right for this dragon. I'm glad to be 19, and I hope that I'll live for many more.
See you all around, floofs and scalies.

Birthday (hatchday?) not too far ahead
Posted 10 years agoSunday, November 22. 11/22. That's when this drake's getting his next birthday. Just quite excited for that in general.
Here's advanced warning for anyone looking to prepare gifts or other stuff for me.

pecon has both turned 21 and reached 2000 pageviews, and is picking 3 winners for a birthday bash party. The result will be NSFW, so keep that in mind.

Yet more raffles
Posted 10 years agoYup. Expect most of my journal updates to be about other raffles. Generally, I figure they can use the boost.

Posted 10 years agoSo, first FA journal. Heh. Getting the fair few amount of good art for myself. I figure I'd talk about a few things, so sorry if his seems a bit like a ramble.
I've been lucky with finding cheap, yet very good artists around on FA and elsewhere. MadMeeper on Weaysl did my refsheet, and has a very good looking style (in my opinion). And the lightning breath commission was done by
neko-maya, aka Neotheta. Check both artists out if you want.
And finally, both
ruewinters and
jessiedafox are doing a raffle to celebrate 100 watchers. Be sure to check them out as well.
