Metal alergy page
Posted 14 years agoMany people have alergy to metals, mostly nickle. Here are the metals in specific rings
Stainless steel:(C:0.03% CR:18-20% Mn:2% NI:8-13% P:0.04 S:0.03 SI:0.75) Non-magnetic
Blackened stainless: same as stainless +Magnetite coating,
Anodized aluminum: aluminum with an oxide layer (no nickel)
Most Metal clasps are made with nickle (especially the silver ones), other colors are Anodized with nickle underneath
plastic buckles are available for collars
I will be looking out for plastic clasps for bracelets as well

Care & Maintenance
Posted 15 years agoCaring for your collar, or other products
Cleaning: wash your items with warm/hot water and mild soap like dawn or other dish soap. gently rub the soap in with a wash rag or other cloth. be careful not to scrub the metal, especially if it is colored. steel/silver can be scrubbed if needed. once all the soap has been washed off with hot water, dry the metal as best you can,(i use several towels and shake it around inside) blow dryers also work.
Getting the collar wet: It is perfectly safe to get my collars wet, showers, rain or other wise. I recommend against pools, because of the chlorine (i have not tested this but may wear away colors). Dry afterwords, try to avoid leaving your collar in water for long periods of time.
Avoiding wear: To keep your collar bright and color-full, do not leave it in your pocket or other places that will rub against the metal. with time and friction the anodized layer can scratch off. the metal in the collar can scratch the coloring off of its self if it is rubbed firmly against its self. Try to avoid pockets, bottom of backpack/other bags, and spinning it like a chain. even under these conditions the collar should be fine, just as long term advice ^^
Damage: If your collar has become damaged, you are more than welcome to try and fix it your self or have a local friend fix it. Try not to loose any rings. I will do any minor repairs if you pay for shipping(or meet me at a con). if some thing horable has happened to your collar (I.E. it got shut in a door or run over by a car) there may be a repair fee to cover materials and time. Repair prices vary depending on amount of damage and so far i have not had to charge for repair.
Re-sizing: if your collar no longer fits or switching owners, you may send it back to me(or meet at a con) to be re-sized. prices may vary depending on size/work involved.
Rust/Oxidation: as long as you keep your items dry for most of their life you will have no trouble with rust or oxidization. If you leave your items in wet conditions such as a wet cloth bag they may have issues, specifically the stainless steel rings (silver). afew hours should not cause trouble but left over several days will cause issues. "keep them dry"
