Of Flashes and 'Dammit, Barry!'
General | Posted 2 years agoWell y'all it's been a pretty rough decade for the 'DCEU' as this movie franchise has been dubbed. There've been ups and downs certainly. The best ones in my opinion have been: The Shazam! movies, Black Adam, Wonder Woman 1, and Aquaman 1. And I'm real excited for 'Blue Beetle'.
With that said, I AM gonna check out 'The Flash' tomorrow (at the time of this Journal's post, instantly dating this post XD). Honestly, I'm surprised this movie got made, like... AT ALL! What with the: multiple directors coming and leaving this, all the delays, allegations towards Ezra Miller. The list goes on. It's just a conglomeration of all the baggage that's accumulated because of so many bad decisions on WB and DC's part. But as I've stated before, don't take this as a Marvel vs DC thing. I want a DC movie-verse that I can enjoy as much as the MCU. And it seems with what they're gonna do with this Flash movie, they're trying to make course corrections. Thank you, Zachy-poo! Because, for those not in the know, this Flash movie's based on 'Flashpoint', which was a reboot of DC comics back in the day. So who knows what'll come about from this.
And don't get me wrong, the recent trailers have been winning me over to wanna see this movie. But I've stated this before, I hope it's not 'A-Batman-movie-guess-staring-The-Flash'... but also at the same time... I'm excited for everything else, including Michael Keaton's Batman, except for Flash himself. Is that weird? XD I'm expecting myself to mentally yell 'Dammit, Barry!' a lot in this movie, given the circumstances of what's gonna happen. But I do wish the character himself, not Ezra necessarily, all the best.
Also! Ironically and conveniently I have not spotted any sorta incel crap talking about how 'woke' Supergirl's in this movie and not Super-MAN! Y'know, the kinda shit you'll see throughout anything and everything Marvel now! Maybe there is and I haven't delved deeper into the cesspit of pure inept.
But that's all I gotta say. I'm not expecting anything groundbreaking to come of this movie, y'all know that's not how I wanna judge movies. And if it's good, then cool burritos for everybody. I just want it to be better than the God awful 'Flashpoint' animated movie.
So wish me luck tomorrow, y'all.
Thanks for your time.

General | Posted 2 years agoI'll try to keep it as spoiler-free as I can XD
But yeah, saw Shin Kamen Rider that Wednesday night.... and I tell ya what, Anno. You keep surprising me. ^^
Yeah, I had the chance to finally catch all episodes of the old 1971 show, so I noticed little nods and quirks in scenes and characters. The characters are likeable and the action is a definite highlight. Some will probably complain about the pacing being a touch too quick, but I don't think it's as egregious. I wasn't bored at all with it. The designs are nothing short of awesome, and I just can't help but love the sound when the characters put on their masks. I said in the last journal I wanted this movie to be better than 'The First' & 'The Last', and boy howdy did it ever. I thought this movie was gonna be depressing, but it's done in a way where it isn't. Whether there'll be any sequels or not, I was pleasantly pleased with 'Shin Kamen Rider.'
Yeah, go check out this movie and Shin Ultraman if ya can ^^
Thanks for your time ^^

General | Posted 2 years agoGood day!
Wanted to talk about this, since me and my friends are a-gonna be checkin' out Shin Kamen Rider tonight... thus instantly dating this journal for anyone reading XD And that's Shin 2023, not '92. XD And I wanted to share my first experience with Kamen Rider that grew via causality.
I'm sure all of us 90s kids watching Power Rangers will remember it's conglomeration of crossovers with different Tokusatsu heroes back in the day, especially with Ninja Turtles, and of course, Saban's Masked Rider. That start of season 3 or MMPR served as the backdoor pilot for the Masked Rider series going forward. And I'm sure I'm not the only one who stuck with that show wondering when the hell Dex was gonna meet up with the Rangers again! Saban's Masked Rider... yeah it didn't have the same zeitgeist that Power Rangers had; more of a sitcom-y feel and a particularly good one at that. Less I talk about Furbus the better! I stuck with it for the fighting, and seeing Masked Rider's Super Gold and Super Blue was a definite highlight for me ^^ Even Shotaro Ichinomori didn't like it.
Yeah, from watching Saban's Masked Rider, causality opened doors for me in unexpected ways. Like how I noticed where was a significant difference with MMPR come season 2, I noticed a major difference right at the beginning of the Masked Rider's first fight. And like early MMPR season 2 fight footage, they sloppily edited fight footage from 'Kamen Rider ZO', and as little kid re-watching that fight over and over, I kept wondering who was this guy. As the show progressed, different episodes spliced fight footage from 'Kamen Rider J', the episode where Dex got kaiju-sized to fight a grown monster. And if you watched the earliest of promos for Saban's Masked Rider, you see the shot of Kamen Rider J's head. And as I was learning about the original Japanese stuffs when I was 9-10, I started collecting books of them, and that's when I finally saw what 'ZO' and 'J' looked like, recognizing the spliced footage. That's what lead me to wanna learn more of the original Japanese Kamen Rider. And from that aforementioned books I learned where those 'Masked Rider Warriors' came from, after that last episode of Masked Rider.
Saw 'J' when I was 11. Found the complete Kamen Rider Black RX when I was 16. I took me a decade, from ages 8 to 18, to be able to find something watchable of ZO that didn't have me resort to renting from someplace miles away from where I lived. And no, watching something online wasn't an option for me back then as it is in abundance today! XD But before finally seeing 'ZO', in me doing my research of it, got me to learn of its director, Keita Amemiya, who also did 'J' as I learned later, and that lead me to be a fan of his work, and design stuffs like him. ^^
Like I said, I'm a huge proponent of causality. And love it/hate it, it all started with Saban's Masked Rider and how it created my love for Tokusatsu in general. And it lead me early this year to be able to see the original Kamen Rider show from '71 in it's 98 episode entirety. Criminy, 98 episodes?! After watching it... yeah it's definitely a product of its time, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. If that old show was remade today in 2023, there would definitely be some changes. Take out those crazy-ass noises the monsters made! OY! And I disappointed on how Ichigo and Nigo took down the Shocker Riders.
And I'd be remised if I didn't mention 2005's 'Kamen Rider: The First', so I'll keep it simple. It started off good, after that... oy! The fight scenes were the only highlight. And that subplot with that dude and gal, who turned out to be SHOCKER bad guys, was SO POINTLESS, you could take it out and you wouldn't miss a thing at all. It's sequel in 2007, 'The Next' and aptly the last sucked so much donkey balls its smell still permeates the air to me. It's like they forgot they were making a Kamen Rider movie, not some cheap horror flick.
So, what am I expecting from this rendition of Kamen Rider tonight (at the time of this journal's post)? Y'all know me, I just wanna have fun with it. I don't expect great cinema... I JUST WANT IT TO BE BETTER THAN KAMEN RIDER'S 'THE FIRST' AND 'THE NEXT'. It's Kamen Rider, so I do expect some kinda drama. But I just wanna fun with it ^^
As for Saban's Masked Rider itself... well nobody talks about it these days. Hell, there was never any kinda DVD release in its entirety. You can only catch it on YouTube apparently. It's kooky, sometimes not in a good way, but it's not without its merits and perks. Mediocre, but it can be fun. ^^
The Kamen Rider franchise itself; will I see the other olden Rider shows? Eeehh, maybe/maybe not. The original '71 show was what I was interested in watching the most, and now I have ^^ Black/Black RX, ZO and J are my favorites of the Showa Era. Haven't seen the early Heisei Era shows. Absolutely LOVE Den-O, but I cannot stand 'Faiz'. 'W', 'OOO', and 'Fourze' remain my favorites of the Neo-Heisei Era and got me back into Kamen Rider again after dropping it one time back in the day. Others from Neo-Heisei include: 'Drive', 'Ghost', 'Ex-Aid', and 'Build'. And I really dug 'Zero-one' from the Reiwa Era thus far ^^
So what's your first Kamen Rider experience. Lemme know in the comments below ^^
Thanks for your time. ^^

General | Posted 2 years agoSo far from what I'm getting from all this is that this is targeting unevolved Pokemon under 5 feet in height.
Well workin' on my 6 Pokemon chars as we speak, and was wondering if I wanted to make some short or not. Hey, I love me tall queens anyway. But it's still unfair no matter how you slice it.
Don't think you thought this all out, FA.
Regardless, I ain't gonna deter me from FA or from my friends here on FA. As Mr. The Frog once done said: "I'M STAYING HERE! THE FROG IS STAYING!"

My first Star Wars Experience
General | Posted 2 years agoHappy Star Wars Day, May 4th, y'alls! ^^
'Fore I get started, I wanted to get this outta the way, get the Bantha outta room so to speak. Cuz I don't want the comment section to devolve into a fan war, God forbid.
Since I was 6 to 7, I've always considered myself a casual Star Wars fan. For those who know me, you know I'm not one of those 'True Fans' that will harp on the Special Editions. I'm not one of those fans who'll constantly debate who'll be who if enough medichlorians. I'm not one of those fans who'll go over ya with a sign that says; "Han Shot First!" Seriously, what the hell was that about? I'm not one of those fans that'll keep worshipping the proverbial balls of 'Empire Strikes Back' while shunning the other movies, just cuz' it's daaaaaark'. I am definitely not one of those fools that'll shout 'WOKE' in the severe case of verbal diarrhea when it comes to any sort of gal in anything Star Wars. And I refuse to lower myself to the level of assholery of the jackasses who actually wanna commit physical harm to children who likes 'Rise of Skywalker'. Yes, this is actually a thing! If I stated this once, I've stared this more than once! Nobody hates Star Wars more than its own fans!
As for me, I love the original and the sequel trilogies. I could make a journal based on that, but what'll always win me over for both trilogies is the characters. That's right, I love the sequel trilogy, and you're not gonna make me change my mind. I've seen and heard all the reasons why some don't like it. Some are legit, but most are so completely asinine. Yeah, I got complaints too, but it's really just nitpicky. And I feel that way for the original trilogy too, especially for EVERYBODY'S favorite 'Empire Strikes Back'. Don't get me wrong I do love the movie, but it really ain't dark like people make it out to be. I wish people would stop putting this franchise itself on such a high pedestal, especially 'Empire Strikes Back'. None of these movies are perfect. That goes for the prequel trilogy. Several years ago, I made my dissertations on why I don't like the prequels, and no it ain't cuz of 'new vs old'. I didn't wanna hate these movies, and I don't want to hate on these movies. The problem with the prequel trilogy is that the problems are so glaring that it just hampers a good viewing. The prequels just feel so lifeless and lethargic to me. Hell the scene where Ben Solo's talking with ghost Han Solo in 'Rise of Skywalker' had more emotion that any 'love scenes' in 'Attack of the Clones. And that's the biggest problem I'll always have with the prequels. The characters are either being boring, unlikeable, and often times both. Sure, the prequels have world-building, but is it really worth the journal whilst with a crazy, whiny Anakin? But that doesn't go for some of the side characters, I'm happy we're seeing Bail Organa in other movies and shows. Now the prequels aren't unwatchable, if I ever wanna check them out, I will see 'Phantom Menace' and 'Revenge of the Sith'. 'Attack of the Clones', I will NEVER see that thing ever again. To me it's the worse of the prequels, though if I had a choice to watch that over 'Son of the Mask'... yeah, I'll suck it up. But even then, for those who'll rag on your least favorite Star Wars movie, go watch the 'Holiday Special' then get back to me.
As for me when it comes to the shows? I hated the 'Clone Wars' movie, so I never watched the show, but have seen the final seasons on Disney+ that gave it the proper ending it needed. But from that, I absolutely fell in love with Ahsoka, and I'm glad we're getting a show of her. Rosario Dawson is AWESOME! I loved 'Star Wars Rebels' while I was watching it on TV 'fore we got Disney+. I'm glad we're getting all these Star Wars shows on Disney+. 'Obi-Wan' has cleared up issues I've had from in-between 'Revenge of the Sith' and 'New Hope'. I love 'Bad Batch', 'The Madolorian', and 'Book of Boba Fett'. Caught a couple episodes of 'Tales of the Jedi' last night, and I gotta say.... Master Yaddle.... *whistles* Where am I going with all this, further demonstrating what a windbag I can be yet again? Cuz Star Wars show of movie is someone's first. And I wanted to share my first experience. ^^
Now I don't think I'm remembering this correctly, but I was 'round 6 or 7, I'm starting to watch 'Muppet Babies' when it was on Nick Jr back in the 90s. The show spliced in certain movie clips, including Star Wars. It was also at that time, my dad was watching it on TV, and he was collecting micro machine figures of the ship for a model he was making at that time. We had movie-watching Fridays in my old school, and the teacher asked us if we wanted to see 'Return of the Jedi'. I asked myself what was that and before my mom picked me up from school, I had gotten to see Vader walked down that shuttle ramp, and from then on I was hooked! From then on, I watched the other movies, collected the toys, even made a model of Mos Eisley where I stole sand from my school's sandbox in Ziploc bags XD
So yeah, I do love Star Wars, and I'm looking forward for more of it. I'm gonna be season season 2 of Star Wars Visions here soon. I really do need to see 'Andor' tho XD And if there's a Finn show on Disney+, I'm checking it out. Side note, there were actual discussions on how Jar-Jar Binks is somehow a better character than Finn. Your opinion is valid, but that don't mean I don't think it's objectably wrong when proof is in the pudding on why that ain't remotely true. But I digress.
So what was your first Star Wars experience, lemme know in the comments below. And people... don't make it into a comment fan war. That's what got the cesspit that were the IMDb message boards rightfully taken out. Just keep it simple, and lemme know your favorite alien species in Star Wars. ^^
Thanks for your time, and May the 4th be with y'all ^^

A Zyuranger realization!
General | Posted 2 years agoHey, who remembers when Power Ranger toys were coming out, they advertised their 'Battle Bikes'?
Now who remembers in the Power Rangers episode 'Calamity Kimberly', we see those bikes in the fight scene with in the 'Putty Bowl Restaurant'? Yeah, they never got any kind of proper introduction, and by that I mean none at all XD
That's cuz I had a sudden realization.... they Zyurangers never used their bikes, the Saurer Machines, whilst they were transformed at all throughout the whole dang show! XD It's only ever been in the opening or that little eyecatcher before a commercial. XD Yeah, I can't recall one time where they used them while transformed. Not once. Yeah, no wonder Power Rangers never used them XD Then again, teleporting. ^^
Guess we could chock that up to yet many items and attacks the Zyurangers barely used.
God imagine what Burai's woulda been if he had one. That woulda been sick!
Anyhoo, just some random-ass nonsense that just popped into my head morphed into a crazy epiphany XD
Thanks for your time. ^^

Of Jetman and Happenstances
General | Posted 2 years agoHey, gang. Now this is something I've been wanting to talk about for a while. Surprised I haven't talked about this earlier since at the start of the year, I bought and built the Super Minipla models of Super Sentai mechs that've come out, including Jet Icarus and Jet Gaurda. Both of which are transformable, posable, and friggin' awesome! Both of which belong to today's subject as well as its writer.
For those not in the know, Toshiki Inoue has written a ass-ton of things, that includes tokusatsu, and especially for Super Sentai and Kamen Rider. I'm not the first to say this, but the dude's always been rather hit or miss to me. He's like Mark Millar in a way, and like Millar, I think he does his best work whilst restrained. He's known for making everything 'edgier' and 'darker', racism on the bad guys' perspective, jerkass characters, constant gray morality, crappy love triangles that really don't go anywhere, and boy howdy does this guy truly have a problem when it comes to writing women. And then there's the way he writes his endings, which I'll give an example here soon. Some of his works where all this comes to mind is Kamen Rider Faiz, and jeez is it a slog to watch. And yeah, there's an example of a crappy ending right there. Yeah, I pretty much hate the show, but Inoue's novelization of Faiz... GOOD FRIGGIN' GOD! You want an example of bad fanfiction, there it is. He's also responsible for Kamen Riders 'The First' and 'The Next.' Both are horrible and I plan to something with that when I finally watch 'Shin Kamen Rider 2023'.
Reason why I'm bringing him up, cuz like I've said he's done Sentai work too. And with King-Ohger currently going, I was planning on getting Avataro Sentai Donbrothers on DVD via ebay here soon. And when I was looking up some info about this show, I found who the main writer was. Ooooooooooooh boy~ how did I not see it earlier when I noticed clips of a love triangle (Wanna avoid Spoilers) And I will see it cuz I AM interested in it, but jeez, I fully expect to see Inoue's other tropes.
Like I've said before, Inoue's hit or miss, like Choujin Sentai Jetman. It's considered Inoue's 'magnum opus.' People put this damn thing on such a high pedestal that it's annoying. 'Ooooooooh~ it's dark and edgy.' Fanboys really need to define terms on what the hell that actually means anymore. To me, Jetman really feels no different than watching any other Sentai. Sure there's gonna be little nuances. That's expected in each passing year for Sentai, but it really isn't that 'dark or edgy' to me. Or did fanboys forget that there was that Cup O'Noodles monster, that Tomato Monster, or when some of the characters get their personalities switched in the one episode? This show ain't really dark. Of course there's the novelizations done by Inoue, which are said to be 'darker and edgier'. This is the kinda crap that the wannabe edgelords will make as their go-to excuse, just like they'll say: "We see people get killed in Jetman!" AND?!?! We see people get systematically get slaughtered and killed in other Sentai! A scene in Gokaiger where the mooks gun down and kill civies! And are you gonna keep using the excuse that nobody is any of buildings that are smashed up? Hell I'd venture to say Dairanger is more grim.
The only characters I really liked where Ako (Blue Swallow) and Raita (Yellow Owl). Ryu (Red Hawk) and Kaori (White Swan) where always boring to me. I mean they're OK, but nothing to write home about. Especially when Ryu keeps pinning for his dead girlfriend in the first episode who somehow became one of the main villains. (Spoiler Alert) And then the love triangle with them and Gai (Black Condor) Speaking of, yeah the jerkass with a heart of gold. He'll grate on me at times, but he's not without merrit.
The villains themselves, Vyram, a very interesting bunch, but the main one, Radiquet.... URRRGH! I JUST CANNOOT STAND THIS BASTARD! He's like Ebony Maw in 'Avengers: Infinity War;' just that condescending, holier-than-thou attitude. He's not the villain you can't help but like, like Loki. He's the kinda creep you want to see get his ass kicked. Even Shadam from Dairanger, just a cruel dickwad, was better than this guy.
And then there's the ending..... oh Lord that ending! I wouldn't be complaining as much if Gai sacrificed himself to beat Vyram in the final episode, but did it really HAVE to be with Gai getting stabbed by a mugger on the way to Ryu and Kaori's wedding?!
"GAI DIED LIKE A TRUE HERO CUZ HE DIDN'T WANT TO RUIN HIS BEST FRIENDS' WEDDING!" Gai died like a friggin' idiot!! He didn't want to go to a hospital to treat an easily treatable wound just so we wouldn't ruin Ryu and Kaori's wedding?!?!?! Dude, they're gonna find your corpse on that bench later on that day in a pool of blood! Day ruined no matter how you slice it! There's no win here!
But no, I don't hate Jetman at all. There are episodes I'll see, and there's 3 episodes I avoid like a friggin' plague. It's done by my boy Keita Amemiya and his designs are awesome in this. As I said before, I love the mechs in this show, and I'm still waiting for a SuperMini TetraBoy, and the Shodo figures of Jetman. 'Fore anybody asks, I do know of the Jetman comic continuation that has Jow (GreenEagle) Will I get the Shout Factory DVD of Jetman? LIke Zyuranger and Dairanger... probably not, unless each are marked $20 or lower. Otherwise, I'll just watch the episodes I do like on other channels.
So that's all I gotta say about Jetman and its' writer.
Thanks for your time.

Of Velma and.... why -_-
General | Posted 2 years agoFor those not in the know, I frickin' LOVE Velma. OH God, not the show, I mean the actual character, since I was like 10. Just love the design, personality... SHE'S JUST SO DANG CUTE!!!!!!!!!!!! VELMA IS BEST GIRL!!!! Maybe that's how I got my love for orange. Of course let's address the elephant in the room on this subject; I didn't care at all about Velma's raceswap change, like I have no doubt so many did 'fore seeing this show. Hell I didn't even care that they made her a lesbian. I mean have you seen the gal she was crushin' on in one of the movies? Coco Diablo: https://rule34.xxx/index.php?page=post&s=view&id=6789939 Yowza! I woulda really loved this version of Velma if she wasn't such a hateful character!
The show itself? Well I don't have HBOMax, so it probably wouldn't be fair to give a proper assessment and opinion just based off of what I've heard from word-of-mouth, YouTube reaction vids, or clips I found on YouTube. Buuuuut~ Y'know, several years back I wanted to catch a show on TV, couldn't tell ya what it was, that's how irrelevant it was, but when I saw it, I was turned off from it just after a couple minutes of it. And if I did see this damn show if I had HBOMax, I definitely would've been turned off from it after a couple minutes. One reason I wouldn't have checked it out in the first place is the whole "Let's turn an old kids' show into an adult cartoon with lots of swearing and violence! That'll be great for the mature audience who grew up with it! ^^" Yea, it's becoming old. Now it CAN work, it's all about the execution. Of course the question always pops up on why do you ever wanna do that in the first place.
And that's question in it of itself. Just.... why? Why does this show exist? Who was this show made for? Certainly not for the fans of Scooby-Doo or fans of the Velma character herself! Are we suppose to like her? Is she suppose to be an unlikable character? Now I haven't seen 'Always Sunny in Philadelphia', but unlikable characters can work with the right execution. That ain't the case with this gal! This is pretty much Mindy Kaling's self-insert, and it just doesn't work. This gal ain't Velma. Mindy can respond all she wants about how I'm a racist just for that. As I said before, that ain't it at all. I hated this version of Velma because she is so despicable and insufferable in this show, as are so many other characters. I can't even go into the details of all the 'Why this?' cuz this journal would be WAY to damn long. But those details itself... my God, that's the kinda crap these incel rightoids like Geeks+Gamers and Quarter Pounder keep pretending is in Marvel and Disney movies! And OH BOY! Do not get me started on the most anger-inducing, perpetual facepalming cringe that is Right Wing Cinema Sins! And yet somehow this piece of crap show's getting a season 2!
Now if you do somehow like this show, more power to ya. I say this again, I ain't insulting you for liking this show, I actually envy y'all for being able to stomach it if you can.
That's all I got for this.
Thanks for your time ^^

Of Marvels and Marvels: Eelctric Boogaloo
General | Posted 2 years agoBeen a minute since I've done this type of thing. But y'all should know me by now when it comes to this type of thing. I think it's becoming a thing when it comes to any superhero that, y'know, has a vagina. But I just caught the teaser for 'The Marvels'. Aaaaaaaaand like clockwork, queue the incels that'll say this'll bomb so hard yadda yadda yadda, and will point out every damn thing wrong in just this one trailer or this one scene where it'll somehow offend someone as a man.
Folks we've been through this so dang many a-times, I can't even find myself formulating any kinda of witty comeback to the sheer stupidity of any of it anymore. Surprising we haven't made any kinda game outta this yet. Not a drinking game, cuz I don't want anybody dying or going to any hospitals cuz of the whiners' sheer nonsense. Let's not get started on the comments and the equally as stupid: 'My favorite part was when." Though my favorite comment thus far has been; 'Brie Larson showed more acting and emotion in this than the first movie', once again making me ask these 3 questions: "What the hell counts as acting and/or emoting to you?' 'What movie did you see?' & 'Did you see Twilight by mistake?' And of course, complaining about how the CG looks unfinished.... IN THIS TEASER!!!!! Same old same old I've come to expect. Golly Gee Wilakers! Sure can't wait for Geeks+Gamers to make yet another 100 videos about why this movie will suck, boy howdy! Woke Woke Woke Woke Woke Woke repeated ad nauseum. "I'm not gonna spend money to watch it", and they'll see it anyway just to see how bad it is, making up a crazy imagined slight that offended them somehow.
As for moi.... I'm excited for it. I genuinely loved 'Captain Marvel', 'Ms. Marvel', and how Monica Rambeu got her powers in 'WandaVision'. Glad Goose is back and it looks like we got.... EVEN MORE FLERKINS! I'm genuinely stoked for this, y'all.
"YOU'RE JUST SHILLING OUT FOR WOKE DISNEY!" the manbabies cry out with inceltear energy. Uh huh, whatever helps ya jerk off at night, dudes.
That's all I gotta say on this. Thanks for your time ^^

Farwell 2022, Howdy 2023
General | Posted 3 years agoAnother year, done and done. Personally 2022 was better than the last two previous years.
Without getting too political; Republicans are just losing their marbles, and I stand with Ukraine.
Stars we lost that meant a lot to me:
Fred Ward, Gilbert Gottfried, Louie Anderson, Olivia Newton-John, Kevin Conroy, David Warner, Nichelle Nichols, Kirstie Alley, Bob Sagat, Ray Liotta, William Hurt, Alan Ladd Jr., Anne Heche, Coolio, Robbie Coltrane, and most especially... Jason David Frank.
With the bad outta the way, let's focus on the good.
Got done a fair bit in the last 6 months alone:
I finally built my shelves for my Transformer toys, cuz man, I needed the space.
I finally reworked my Christmas lights where I don't have to decorate any of our front lawn plants. Cuz I've ALWAYS hated doing it, and it never looked good.
On that note, I finally convinced my Mom to decorate Christmas early, and we were able to enjoy the decorations.
Started doing regular check-ups.
I got myself an EBT card after applying for insurance, and boy was that unexpected.
Got into seeing Knight Rider, and got the whole DVD set. So I hope to marathon it more next year ^^
My Dad came to visit for the summer and we got to marathon: All the Harry Potter movies, all Lord of the Rings movies, all of Beast Wars and War Planets, and all the Jurassic Park movies leading up to Dominion, finally seeing Star Trek: Strange New Worlds and Picard, and unexpectedly seeing the Karate Kid movies, which led me up to finally wanna check out 'Cobra Kai' on Netflix.
Me and my Dad found a movie theater close to where I live, up in Yorba Linda, the 'Regal', and I've been going there since September. And that's where my Dad FINALLY got to see Spider-Man: No Way Home in theater (the extended version). He saw it on DVD when I visited him and my Grandma in May. He couldn't see it in theaters cuz it was always so packed where he lives)
Got to go with my family to really fun fairs in Pomona and Anaheim, and I hope to do them again in 2023 ^^
My Mom and I got to go up to Yuba City to spend a Christmas with my Dad, Uncle, and Grandma. And I had a great time there ^^ And there, got to finally eat an Panera, and boy I gotta go again ^^
I FINALLY got to check out all of the X-Men animated series on Disney+ for the first time in over 25 years, and I'm really excited for the continuation coming in 2023.
I bought a crap-ton of She-Hulk comics, old and from 2022, following her series on Disney+
Finished up Amphibia and The Ghost & Molly McGee for 2022, and loved both shows. ^^
A friend of mine with her baby FINALLY moved out and is now living in South Dakota. My Mom visited her in September and saw the sights, got some souvenirs. And got a taste of how cold it was with the friend saying; 'it doesn't get real cold here.' 9 degrees says otherwise.
I became a backer on Hasbro Pulse last year for the Haslab Victory Leo, and just got him this Christmas, and boy oh boy he was worth it. Became a backer for his nemesis, Deathsaurus, for 2022, and looking forward to getting him in 2023.
Since October I've started collecting the Power Rangers Lightning Collection, and I can't wait for more. ^^ That, and the Marvel Legends figures of the MCU. And managed to find a screenplay of Captain America: The First Avenger. ^^
I started getting the Super Minipla models of my favorite Megazords this week, starting with Gaoking/Wildforce Megazord ^^ In fact it just arrive TODAY as of this journal's post. XD
Shout Factory FINALLY releases more Super Sentai on DVD, and I got both Fiveman and Abaranger. And Let me tell y'all something, I am EAGER to get Dekaranger this February.
Saw Zenkaiger and I absolutely LOVE it. ^^
The KOOKIEST show on Netflix that I saw while in Yuba on Christmas that my other family were watching is 'Manifest'... holy crap is it crazy... and another season's on the way, and I gotta know what happens! GAH!
Transformers' Studio Series and Legacy just keep getting better, and not a bad one I can think of for 2022 while others will dislike. Got all 5 Stunitcons and formed Menasor. Got all season 1 Maximals and Predacons, making a dedicated shelf for them. ^^
And I think this year's Christmas Decorations at my house are the best I've ever seen. It wasn't so egregious and a pain in the ass putting them up this time as it was the last.
Movies I liked this year: Puss in Boots: the last wish, Black Adam, Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness, Hannukah on Rye on Hallmark (seriously, I ain't even Jewish and I loved it ^^), Thor: Love and Thunder, Strange World, Luca, Bullet Train, The Man From Toronto, Spiderhead, The Lost City, Weird: The Al Yankovic Story, Disenchanted, Lightyear, Jurassic World Dominion, The Batman, One Piece Red, Ambulance, Samaritan, Uncharted, and Death on the Nile. With my 3 favorites of this year being: Sonic 2, The Bob's Burgers Movie, The Bad Guys, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Turning Red, Glass Onion on Netflix, and Topgun Maverick ^^
Netflix Stuffs I liked this year: Cobra Kai, Kung Fu Panda: Dragon Knight (can't wait for season 2 come January), Sonic Prime, Transformers BotBots, R.I.P.D. 2, Dogs in Space season 2, the live-action Cowboy Bebop, The Sea Beast, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe seasons 2 and 3, A Perfect Pairing, Wendell and Wild, The Adam Project, Matilda the Musical, Interceptor, The Gray Man, Del Toro's Pinocchio, Drifting Home, Oni: The Thunder God, Is it Cake?, Enola Holmes 2, Kid Cosmic season 3, The Cuphead Show, Samurai Rabbit, and one of my top5 favorite Christmas Carol versions so far: Scrooge: A Christmas Carol. Oh, and started Blacklist 6 months ago, I gotta continue it.
Disney+ Stuffs I liked this year: She-Hulk, Ms. Marvel, National Treasure: Edge of History, The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, Werewolf By Night, Zombies 3, the Cheaper by the Dozen remake, Hocus Pocus 2, the live-action remake Pinocchio (Yes, I liked both versions), Moon Knight, And unexpectedly: Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers. XD
Paramount+ Stuffs I liked this year: Transformers EarthSpark, Star Trek Strange New Worlds, Picard, Halo, & Jerry and Marge Go large.
Movies I hated: The Lost City of Z on Amazon; the very first time I said 'fuck this movie' in front of my parents. On Paramount+ side; the Marksman.... ugh! And on Netflix's side, Pacific Rim The Black season 2. I will NEVER see that show again. Another on Netflix, the live-action Fullmetal Alchemist trilogy. Oh boy I really didn't wanna cast judgement till Is aw the whole thing, but now that I have... God, it's like Warner Bros of Japan just threw up their hands and just said, 'OK then'. The trilogy's so rushed and you can tell they just didn't care.
Movies I'm looking forward to in 2023: Spider-Man: Across the Spiderverse, Antman and the Wasp Quantamania, The Marvels, Gaurdians of Galaxy vol. 3, Elemental, Mission Impossible 7 part 1, The Super Mario Bros. movie, John Wick 4, Ladybug and Cat Noir movie, the live-action Little Mermaid, and most especially Transformers: Rise of the Beasts.
Shows I'm looking forward to in 2023: The Mandalorian season 3, The Bad Batch season 2, Secret Invasion, What If... season 2,
Movies I'm squiffy about for 2023: The Flash, given it's production hell. Aquaman 2, cuz of Amber Heard still being cast. Blue Beetle, more excited it, but a tad cautious. Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny; again, more excited. But after Crystal Skull... I just want this one to feel lively and not empty like Crystal Skull was.
Goals for 2023: I wanna lose some degree of weight for my health benefits, and I've been working on that. Thank God I don't drink or smoke XD
Like I said in a previous journal, come tomorrow there will be new art of Chasey. I'll be doing Year of the Rabbit Comm Specials if anybody's interested. And some of the Specials that've been up in the last couple months will be placed again in the future. ^^
And on that note, I hope everybody's has a safe and awesome New Years.
Here's to 2023.
Thanks for your time ^^
Without getting too political; Republicans are just losing their marbles, and I stand with Ukraine.
Talk about a steal for CHEESE!
General | Posted 3 years agoI caught this clip on R/Facepalm: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U_bJT-B_VZE
Bruh... that ain't facepalm, that is friggin' BIG BRAIN with that price! Facepalm to the schmuck that put the price on that cheese.
What's one to do with all that cheese is a tad problematic? Any mice in the audience, care to give some advice? Me personally: throw an epic pizza party with all that 'san that Pinkie Pie would be jealous of!
What would you do with all that cheese? ^^
And that's an act of randomness by me ^^
Thanks for your time.

Of Powers and Thunder
General | Posted 3 years agoGood Morrow, dawgs, dawgettes and everything in between. 'Fore ya ask, no it's not talking about Thor with the title XD Nah, I just wanna talk Power Rangers again. Been meaning to talk about this particular subject for a while now; what with JDF's passing, me checking out and enjoying Power Rangers Dino Fury on Netflix, and my procurement as of October loads of Power Rangers Lightning Collection toys.
Yes, I was just gonna get Zeo, being that's my all-time favorite, and the figures were all there, but then I figured... nah, there's tons of the other seasons I like. So I've completed; Zeo, Mighty Morphin', In Space. I'm just one figure away from completing: Dino Thunder, S.P.D. and Dino Charge. Cuz I really wanna reenact the pose scene of 'Dekaranger vs. Abaranger'. Really hope to see more of Wild Force soon. But c'mon, Hasbro, give us some Turbo Rangers already! OK, gettin' of track here, but oh yeah, I did pre-order the Alien Rangers 5-pack, cuz I also wanna reenact 'Ohranger vs. Kakuranger'. Gettin' off track again, but I also do have the White Ranger aka KibaRanger... which puts me back on track. Cuz I do hope the Lightning Collection does more of the Boom comic characters, cuz I would love to see Dairanger in the lightning collection. Or 'Squadron Rangers' as they're called.
Anyhoo, loads of us grew up in the 90s... and boy, I pretty much dated myself XD. But yeah, I know I can't be the only one that watched Power Rangers just for the Zord fights back in the day when we were kids. And I'm sure loads of us were taken aback by the changing of the Zords. And I'm very sure loads of us were blissfully unaware it was lifted off a different Sentai series all together; let alone lifted off a whole other show from another country all together.
Like when the White Ranger debut, me and even my mom wondered why his suit looked different. Thankfully the suit looked similar enough the the Mighty Morphin' suits. Shoot, when the Saba toy came out, the box art of the White Ranger had a mouth like the Mighty Morphin' suits! XD
For those not in the know, when season 1 of Rangers was going on, it became so unexpectedly popular, but there wasn't enough Zyuranger footage to use. The 2-parter 'Doomsday' was originally gonna be the end of it. So Saban commissioned Toei to make new Monster costumes, Ranger fights and Zord Fights. Though ironically, the biggest problem with Rangers is always budget, so I wonder what budget they had to make these 'Zyu2' footages. And that also made a pretty big problem in early season 2. Who's looked back at the early season 2 Zord fights? Cuz man they're terrible! Not seeing the Thunder Megazord and the Monster directly fighting, just really bad editing of reactions.
Yeah, as a kid, the Thunder Megazord never made a good first impression on me. Not cuz of the look, I mean it looks great! I mean the Red Dragon Thunderzord having a humanoid mode, and the other 4 make armor onto him? How do you NOT like that idea? But man they could've done the early season 2 Zord fights so much better! Hell, we didn't see the Red Dragon Thunderzord fight in warrior mode fighting solo till like a 3rd of the way in. (That was also the same time Austin St. John, Walter Jones and Thuy Trang were leaving the show, and their suit forms had those really terrible dubbers - ugh!)
It's jarring to say the least when they use what left over Zyu2 footage they had left, and paid for. This is why planning's important for budgetary reasons, kids. Don't count your Tanga-eggs before they hatch. XD And I'm sure we all had ideas on how they could've done it differently. I say you coulda used up all that Zyu2 footage for just season 1. I mean season 1 is the longest season, and Goranger is clocked at 84 episodes. And you can check out the unedited footage of those Zord fights that had the original Megazord on Youtube. So they should've just gone all out with it on season 1. Another thing; have Zedd unleash more than one Monster; one from Zyu2 and one from Dairanger. Have it where the Zyu2 Monster fights Dragonzord, since their is footage of that, and the other fighting the Thunder Megazord. The aforementioned Red Dragonzord warrior mode Zord fight with the Pipe Brain monster should've been part of the Season 2 premiere 3-parter.
And of course lots and lots of people have said this: all over Youtube, etc. 'They should've just changed to the Dairanger suits. I do understand the brand recognition of the Mighty Morphin' suits that Saban had in mind. Plus Dairanger had green instead of black. Coulda saved ya lots of problems ya made for yourself, especially when we didn't see the Rangers fighting the Dairanger Monsters early on. Maybe you coulda changed the helmets at least? Maybe not the helmets entirely outright, but better reflect on their Thunderzords. I mean you made different versions of the Red Ranger helmet for the VR Troopers Battle Grid Modes, and I didn't catch onto that till much much later on. And seeing Dairanger again recently.. yeah there was so very little footage of KibaRanger they coulda used for Power Rangers. I mean there was some, but Kibaranger rarely fought alongside the other Dairangers. Sound familiar, Burai??? Yeah, moreso than with Burai. But by Season 3 they did get it down pretty well with the American made Ranger fights with the Mighty Morphin' suits and just use the Zord Fight footage. Which is what's gonna be happening with this new Power Rangers Cosmic Fury. But man, I was really hoping they were gonna adapt Kyuranger! And I would've LOVED to have Lightning Collection versions of all 12 Kyurangers! THOSE SUITS ARE SO GOOOOOOD~!!!
But I digress. I really enjoyed Dino Fury and its characters so it's not a bad tradeoff at all going into Comic Fury. I'm hearing things like Zack and Billy from Mighty Morphin' coming back, and Trini's daughter. So we'll see how that goes. 30th anniversary of Power Rangers, baby! And I know it won't be a train wreck like Megaforce/Super Megaforce was.
Yeah, just something I wanted to talk about. ^^
Thanks for your time. ^^

Open for comms till Dec 12th
General | Posted 3 years agoOn the 13th I'm going up north to send Christmas with other family, so if you want some Christmas comms, get 'em in now.
What I'm a-gonna do~
General | Posted 3 years agoHey, everybody~
Usually this is where I be postin' up my personal Christmas arts und things. Well, with recent events happening; setting up Christmas here, going up North to have Christmas with my other relatives on the 12th and coming back the following Monday, and most of all with my recent artwork and trying to get my characters down... I decided not to do it for this year, and postpone it for next. I mean I had a slew of Halloween and Thanksgiving stuffs I wanted to do for this year but couldn't, and had to save it for next. And yeah, it involves art for Chasey and Cephir. And I don't wanna jinx anything. XD
However, during my reworking, I've come up with some other groovy things as well. Cuz I've been wanting to do my own fantasy creatures, and do hybrids of such.
Soooooo, I decided for the start of 2023; new year and a fresh start... I'll do an art dump right on the 1st. ^^
Just a heads up ^^

Of Greens and Rangers.
General | Posted 3 years agoOnce again, great title. Though I'm very sure I'm probably gonna make some people cry at the start of this, that's why I wanna get it outta the way. Jason David Frank, definitely one of the coolest Rangers of all time, rest in peace, duder.
What inspired me to make this is cuz Youtuber MistareFusion's ongoing series 'Mighty Morphin Zyuranger'. It's where he compares footages of the episodes of both Sentai and Power Rangers. And probably within the next couple months, give or take, I have a feeling he'll make a tribute to ol' JDF, and it will be fitting for the string of episodes he'll be reviewing and comparing with the episodes of the 'Green Candle' and of DragonRanger Burai dying. Which is whom I'm a-talkin' about today.
For those who know me, I've made it no secret that... I'm not a fan of Zyuranger. I don't outright hate it, definitely not to the degree of 'Megaforce'. I really don't hate any Sentai series. Just that to me it was just mediocre, like on the levels of GoBusters and Ninninger. Like, will I ever get the whole series from Shout Factory? Nope. Like of course some Sentai episodes in any series will have silly/goofy moments, but I'll often find them charming, and often times they'll be badass. When it comes to Zyuranger... it just doesn't hit the right notes for me, especially as I was watching the series as a whole.
Burai comin' in was where things in Zyuranger finally got interesting. And of course it was like that when Tommy showed up. Hell I think the very first time I watched Power rangers back in '93 was either the 1st or final part of the 'Green with Evil' saga. I relaly can't remember which one it was, but that's what hooked me into it! And I'll often watch clips of Geki and Burai fighting, and I'll see comments saying: 'Burai's the greatest of all time.' or 'Burai had such depth'. Burai was cool, but he was nothing like what the comments say about him.
Burai's whole revenge thing was so weak, especially on Geki, his younger brother. And this is compounded by two different subtitled versions of Zyuranger that I saw! When Burai was 8 years old, Geki was born, and their father was called the 'Black Knight'. (though I think MammothRanger Goushi is more of that) Anyhoo, the subtitled version I saw over 15 years ago stated that Geki's adopted father, the King of the Yamato Tribe, took the infant Geki away from his real pappy as punishment for his crimes (Whatever they were, I don't know. They're not explained) The version I see now is that the king was unable to conceive a child of his own, so he took the infant Geki. Bottom line: king kills the really daddy and makes kid Burai promise to avenge him. Thus Burai going off, training to be the very best like no one ever was, with Gnome and his grandson till all went to hell and he went into suspended animation to get his revenge.
How in the hell did Burai get his suit is never explained, nor was how he was even qualified to even be a Zyuranger. Gnome just said he took the Dragon chest armor and that's it.
So yeah, Burai's whole deal is that he hates Geki and is focusing his revenge on him... something that Geki was only a friggin' baby during that time, and he states over and over that Geki killed Burai's parents. (the mom died offscreen. Maybe of grief, but it ain't explained. Just; Boom. Dead.) And then Burai states that he's keeping his promise to dear ol' daddy to take over the world! Huh??? When the hell did kid Burai make THAT promise. Yeah, Burai blames Geki for 'stealing his rightful throne'. What, was their an agreement where the king would adopt Burai? Again, not explained. He alos states that he lived as an orphan in the forest, while Geki was spoiled as a prince. And some comments agree to that.... based on what exactly? We see how Geki turned out, and his strong sense of justice. We never saw him as a kid in any flashback scenes, nevermind of him being a spoiled brat. (Tho in the 2nd ep, Geki said he had a 10-yr-old little sister that was killed during the war with Bandora. How, when his parents apparently couldn't conceive?) After it was all said and done, Burai confesses that he just wanted someone to blame for all the crap that's happened to him. So it's all just 'woe is me', and it ain't compelling and it just makes Burai's revenge just so forced and weak. He's forgiven yadda yadda, I'm sure all the people what were injured or killed in your rampage with Dragon Ceaser (Dragonzord) in the city feel otherwise, bub. (Unlike Tommy, Burai was under no evil spell BTW. Hell, he even cussed out Geki for saving people)
Making matters worse, Burai finds out he's gonna kick the Dino-Bucket if he leaves a timeless room, and his life is tied to a candle. (Sound familiar, Tommy?) And it was preordained BTW. But yea, that's the reason PR writers would have Tommy be late to the fight (A lot of times forgetting about his communicator) cuz Burai would show up late to the fight, otherwise his time will be drained. Yeah, Burai died while during his sleep when boulders smushed him. Dontcha just hate it when you get a rude awakening.
Turns out it was all just a plan by Daizyujin (Megazord) to awaken Dragon Ceaser in order to form Ultimate Daizyujin later down the road. Which all worked out in hindsight, BUT C'MON, DUDE!!!! I know you're suppose to be a god an all that crap, but criminy, you kept telling Geki to Burai over and over! What if Geki actually DID kill his brother? What woulda been a pretty big whoopsie on ya, donthca think?! Why didn't ya just tell the Zyurangers about this plan, instead of keep putting them in trails to make them prove their worthy of all this crap?! Geki even called out Daiyujin on that in a later episode. Also why not have Gnome and his grandson show up more to help snap Burai outta his funk, since he's lived with them since his dad was killed in their forest? Yeah, the grandson woke up Burai in the debut episode... ALL WHILE GNOME AND BARZA (the Zyuranger's mentor) TRIED TO KILL HIM WITH FUCKIN' RIFLES TO PREVENT BURAI FROM WAKING UP! You coulda taken like two minutes to explain to the kid that Burai's bad news, but no, just balls out nuts. Yeah, actually try to kill him! After that, the grandson's never seen again, and Gnome showed up in the episode after that to explain Burai is Geki's brother, and is never seen again.
But yeah, spoiler alert, Burai died. RIP. But the problem was, after Burai's 6-parter he showed up so infrequently, some episodes not at all. Yeah, they did that with Tommy, but it wasn't as egregious. It was to the point that I barely cared about Burai, even after his death. Now I say 'barely', but he did die a hero. But the episode afterwards... SHEESH! I felt more bad for Dragon Ceaser than I did with Burai dying; being left out of praises, to being told to just forget about Burai! Maybe that's why Daizyujin feels the need to test these guys out. About humility!
Then again, with the way Burai was barely there, nonetheless barely interacting with any of the Zyurangers, they pretty much shrug off his death. And there were ways of handling Burai's whole character arc so much better than this:
Have that before the war with Bandora, Burai's whole tribe were like Nazis (cliche, I know) but show that Burai, even as a kid, was boastful, arrogant, and as evil as his father. (Burai does mean 'evil' in Hindi BTW) Have Geki be a couple years younger and be the neglected one for being weak, and Burai the golden child. Have Geki turn on his family and brother, seeing that what his tribe's doing is wrong, showing that sense of justice. That will set Burai off on his revenge on Geki making more sense. And for his valiancy, the Yamato king welcomes young Geki to join his family. Just ideas off the top of my head.
But again, I don't hate Burai at all. Izumi Shiro absolutely kills it the role. Just that his weak revenge story makes me like 'Green with Evil' more. That 5-parter hit the right notes cuz there was something happening in each episode that made me feel more engaged.
But yea, if you absolutely love Zyuranger, think it's one of the best Sentai series ever made as I see in so many comments, I don't blame you at all. There are good things about it, but to me it's still dull as a whole.
I do apologize for this length. I know I can be a bit of a windbag, but this was something I've wanted to talk about for a while now. I guess JDF's passing spurred it on.
Regardless, thanks for your time.
And to JDF, may the power protect you. ^^
