New Icon
Posted 4 years agoHello Everyone!
Hope you have all been keeping well a year into this very odd world we've all found ourselves in. Hope you are all putting your pre-pandemic experience with masks to good use
We have a new icon, courtesy of
GlitchTheGothKidd who was kind enough of offer a whole batch of icons, all with some slight differences. Settled on this for now, but may rotate between the versions.
In any case, thank you very much Glitch ^^
And keep safe y'all.

Strange Times, Virtual Raves and a Casting Call
Posted 5 years agoHello Everyone,
These are strange times indeed. When people made fun of us for the masks we wear, they would not have guessed that Cybergoths had the right idea all along.
That said, I do not wish to make light of a dire situation. I hope all of you have been keeping safe, whereever you are. I appreciate this page itself has been rather quiet for a while. Still, we get followers and I'd like to thank each and every one of you.
It is certainly a difficult time for us stuck in isolation, as well as the wider gothic and alternative community. Lots of events, festivals, gigs and being cancelled or postponed, with the future uncertain. Here in the UK, our longest-running home, Slimelight, has been skipping events for the first time in 32 years. One of our favourite festivals here, Resistanz, was postponed by a year on the year of its return after a four-year hiatus. Situation in Germany is not too different.
On the other hand, we've also seen some amazing efforts by the members of the community to keep spirits up during these times. Prominent artists such as Jorg from the dead-but-not-quite Straftanz and Sami from Faderhead, as well as DJs from Slimelight and other clubs have held virtual raves, with people connecting with webcam chats and dancing, dressed as if they're in for a night out. It has definitely been a silver lining in all this.
If any of you reading this have links to such online events, feel free to comment them below.
On that note, UK-based Synthpop and EBM Band, Randolph & Mortimer, have put out a call for Cybergoths, Cyberpunks, Industrial ravers and "anyone else who goes out dancing dressed up to the max". The idea is to dress up and film ourselves dancing to make a community music video out of it from one of their tracks.

Any Artists to Make Some Artpieces For the Group
Posted 8 years agoHello All,
This is something I have been wanting to do for a while. Are there any artists out there who would be willing to do a logo and/or an image I can put as a featured piece? Alternatively, do you know any artists who would be available to do that?
I am looking for styles that will involve lots of electric colours, circuitry imagery, cybernetics and so on. Typical Cybergoth stuff. So an artist with a sleek or sharp style would be preferred.
Someone willing to do it for free would be amazing but I don't expect that as a given.
So, either reply here or message directly.
Meanwhile,
Sotniuq.Rehpotsirhc has linked this piece of music to us. Have a listen.

Posted 9 years agoHello Everyone, hope you have been keeping awesome :D
RedPox has linked up his Harsh Electro/Gothic Industrial project "T4ct1cal Hy3N4 4tt4ck!" with its album "Legacy 2.0". It is pretty good so it it a check and support the artist ^^The Amphi Festival in Cologne, Germany has recently taken place. It is likely one of the biggest Goth festivals in Germany and one of the main events that attracts Cybergoths. There have already been a number of videos involving them. Have you seen any others?

Vice Article on Cybergoth Subculture
Posted 9 years agoHello Again,
Vice have published a new article regarding the Cybergoth subculture in the UK, its evolution, state and where it is going. It acknowledges that as a subculture, it has flagged somewhat but seems to be fairly optimistic. Also, I'd say we aren't *that* maligned.
What do you think? Does it match up with your experiences?

At least it has a better opinion than their previous article involving Cybergoths: http://www.vice.com/en_uk/read/a-bi.....-ata-goth-club

Music Video Featuring Cybergoths
Posted 10 years agoHello Everyone.
First off, apologies for the quietness. Between being busy and not finding much content worth making a journal over, I have left things here a bit quiet.
Second, myself and a few other UK Cybergoths were recently involved in a music video/short film for an alt. rock band that was just released on Thursday. The director is a huge fan of Cyberpunk and approached us in Electrowerkz which is a regular clubbing spot for us and is also where this video was filmed.
And I get to be beaten up and killed in it. So, that's a plus :p
Hope you enjoy it.

Anyone Coming to Confuzzled
Posted 10 years agoHello Everyone,
I reckon very few our watchers are actually from Europe but if any of you are and will be going to Confuzzled, feel free to say hi to a green-and-black Cybercheetah
Here's a pretty epic dance video. I am a huge fan of the guy on the left.

The Art of Gothic
Posted 11 years agoCame across a book today - The Art of Gothic by Natasha Scharf. It is essentially about the history of the gothic subculture, it's inspirations, history, evolution and subgenres.
Of particular interest to me (and the rest of us I imagine) was the chapter on Cybergoths. Nothing that I did not know in general but reading about the specifics of Cybergoth's emergence was interesting. Have only skimmed over the rest of the book and it seems quite good. It was also linked to an exhibition in London that I have been meaning to go.
In any case, if you come across this book, I would recommend it.
Here is a video by the author talking about it.

Clubs and Events Of Interest to Cybergoths
Posted 11 years agoUnfortunately, there isn't a single club and event dedicated to Cybergoths - We are bit of a wavering community, as is the whole Alternative subculture in general. However, there are events that are still of interest to us. I will be listing as many of these as I can. These are mainly events focused on industrial, EBM, industrial techno, noise and the likes, but hard dance and full on rave events can also feature.
Due to location, I am biased towards the UK and, even then, London. As always, I am happy to have input from the greater world (Especially Germany).
Festivals:
Resistanz Festival - Based in UK, Sheffield, features wide variety of Industrial (EBM, IDM, Industrial Techno, Noise, Aggrotech Synthpop), hard dance and occasional trance bands and DJs of eclectic styles. Had a blasting time everytime I've been there.
InFest Festival - Based in UK, Bradford. Like Infest, features Industrial (EBM, IDM, Industrial Techno, Noise, Aggrotech Synthpop) as well as more experimental bands. It is smaller than Resistanz and is noted for a more intimate, personal experience. It is also a much more of a social event than Resistanz.
Amphi Festival - Based in Germany, Köln(Cologne). If there is a festival that can be called the Cybergoth festival, it is this. Absolutely massive and a mix of Goth and Cybergoth crowd. Features Goth and Industrial (Mainly focusing on Synthpop and EBM). A lot of Cybergoth videos found on the net are from Amphi.
Dark Munich Festival - Based in Germany, Bayern. Focusing on Goth and Industrial. Don't know too much about this one but heard good things about it.
Wave Gothic Treffen - Based in Germany, Leipzig. Probably one of the largest gothic events in the world. Focused a bit more on trad goth than Cybergoth but still compatible.
M'era Luna Festival - Based in Germany. Gothic, Industrial and some metal. I've heard good things about this event.
Clubs:
Slimelight - Based in UK, London. The longest running gothic and alternative club in the world (27 Years!), running every Saturday, with two dancefloors (Goth and Industrial (EBM, IDM, Industrial Techno, Noise, Aggrotech Synthpop)) and a third floor (Industrial Techno, Noise, Hard dance) on larger nights (mostly gig nights), Slimelight is probably the best place for Cybers in London and the UK in general to go. If you plan on going there, feel free to message me (Preferrably on my main account). I go there a lot as it is and happy to acclimatize newcomers.
Club Antichrist - Based in UK, London. Running every two-three months on Fridays, this is a more glossy, fetish-heavier event with an Industrial and Goth floor comparable to that of Slimelight, though the Industrial floor can have more dancy flavours.

Brands and Sites for Cyber Clothing and Accessories
Posted 11 years agoCybergoths tend to pick elements from many different styles and subcultures, depending on what side the particular Cyber is leaning towards, ranging from a more gothic and rivethead look to one that evokes a raver and candygoth look and all things in between. So, we are fairly lucky when it comes to mixing and matching.
Here are the links to numerous sellers who have clothing and accessories for anyone who is looking for sources. Due to my own location and knowledge, a lot of these will be UK based but they tend to have international shipping.
If you have any to recommend that is not listed here, feel free to do so and I will add them to the list :)
Cryoflesh - Based in the US and recently opened an actual shop recently, these guys supply some of the Cybergoth-style clothing and accessories. Flashy and intricate, some of their quality leaves much to be desired. However, I can very much vouch for their masks and a lot of their items tend to be highly customisable.
Cyberdog - Based in the UK with a huge shop in London's Camden market, Cyberdog is pretty much the most accessible source of items for UK ravers and Cybers. They have a lot of designs and sometimes supply from other traders (Such as Cryoflesh masks and Alley Cat arm gear).
Kate' Clothing - UK based website (ships internationally). Not a brand on itself but supplies a lot of Gothic brands under one site. Better for those looking for more gothic and rivet-head look of Cyber.
Hexagon - UK Based merchant. More focused on rave gear but definitely have a style that befits Cybergoths. Lots of green and geometric patterns. Rival of Cyberdog. Smaller but tends to be better quality.
Alley Cat Metalwear - UK Based Merchant focused on accessories such as armguards, masks and goggles. Customisable and very good quality, though sometimes with a long waiting time.
Cyberloxshop - UK Based. These are pretty much the go-to guys for Cyberlox. Other than the stuff they have listed, they can make customs ones if you inquire. They are helpful and very friendly. All my Cyberlox are from these guys. They also have masks, goggles and other smaller accessories.
Caffeinated Panda Creations - Another UK based Cyberlox maker - This guy has made a bunch of stuff for my friends and they were all pretty good. He also does a lot of LED and wire-lighting works if you are looking for something a bit more glowy.
Dead Threads - Many of you might recognise this brand. They cover quite a wide selection of styles, tend to look good and are often very comfortable. Buying them via Ebay merchants is a better option than the actual website here.

Update
Posted 11 years agoOh dear, has it really been so long? I have no excuses. Been somewhat busy and haven't managed to look at this group as much as I can. A big hello to all our new followers and thank you for your support.
I will shortly be posting up two journals with information on events (Mostly festivals and club nights) that can be of interest to Cybers and sites that provide clothing/accessories.
In the mean time, have a Cyber dance video and feel free to share your opinions on Cyber dancing - Cool or Corny?

What is Cybergoth?
Posted 11 years agoBeen a month since the last update. Apologies for the delays. Had events and Confuzzled come in between. Don't worry. Haven't forgotten the group.
The other night while clubbing, I had a chat about someone who was curious about the what and why of Cybergoth. I explained it the way I see it but I know that is not the same as others, so I'd like to pose that question here:
What is Cybergoth?
To me, Cybergoth represents an off-shoot of Goth that is steeped in futuristic, preferrably Cyberpunk imagery. Rather than traditional goths who see the present or past world through a darkened lens, Cybergoth view the future through such a lens. Much like Cyberpunk, I find that there is a persistent theme of transhumanism (both positive and negative) and a general sense of a dystopian future. The music and appearance often reflects that: Cybergoths seem to be primarily fans of industrial music and EBM that often carries a futuristic feel with dystopian lyrics (where lyrics are). In terms of appearance, the pervasive use of respirators and the use of the bio-hazard symbol as our de-facto seems to come stem from a specter of epidemics that have defined the late 20th and early 21st century and continue to be of concern whereas the fear of nuclear war has died down. The use of items like Cyberlox almost seems to resemble wiring and cables that, again, feeds into this transhumanist element. One quote I saw thrown around was that it almost evokes a sense of "Technological but devoid of humanity to the point of becoming a savage". Whether Cybergoths carry a more militant or colorful look, it seems to have its inspiration from futuristic fiction that is often dystopian in nature. The Cyberdark//Cybergoth group calls this an ideology though I would probably feel it is a pholosophy, or just a worldview.
To others, it seems to be something based on pure fashion. Cybers of those type I've spoken to frequently carry the appearance and enjoy the futuristic or fetishistic feel to it but either don't know too much or don't care for the more philosophical side of Cybergoth. Their appearances can be inspired from such fiction (be it Anime, live action or comics) but the inspiration seems to end there. In regards to music, they may care for it but they may not. I'm afraid I am not sure about more to say on this simply because of lack of familiarity.
A third group seems to see Cybergoth from a primarily musical background and would almost see themselves as "gothic ravers" or just a type of raver without the gothic part. They have an appreciation for the music but seem to be a bit more diverse in their tastes, following not just industrial but EDM and Techno as well and generally seem to be the types you would see raving at a club. This group's intro page (which was from the original admin) associates Cybergoth with Industrial and Hardstyle music without much reference to the background.
I do not believe there is a single type of Cybergoth. It is very much a hybrid baby and it is unsurpriring the inspirations for it came from multiple directions. However, I am curious as to what other people's opinions on the matter are.
Anbd now, have some dancing Cybers :3

How about we start off with a classic?
Posted 11 years agoLet us play Pong!
On a side note, I am looking into collating a small index of sites, shops, clubs and events that could be of interest to Cybers.
So far, I have the following list:
Facebook Groups: Cyberdark/Cybergoth
EBM Fanatics
Other small groups that exist but are not as active.
Webshops: Cryoflesh
Hexagon Clothing
Cyberdog
Cyberloxshop
Alley Cat Metalware
Kate's Clothing (More metal, rivethead and gothic stuff)
X-Trax
Black Rain Media Group
- A lot of these are UK based. Some have international shipping but not all. More international or shops based in other countries would be good.
Events and Clubs:
Resistanz (UK Festival)
InFest (UK Festival)
AltFest (UK Festival)
Amphi (Germany Festival)
Dark Munich Festival (Germany Festival)
Wave Gothic Treffen (Germany Festival)
Slimelight (Weekly Nightclub- UK)
Antichrist (Semi-Regular Nightclub, UK)
Fallout (Semi-Regular Nightclub, UK)
Analogue Trash (Semi-Regular Nightclub, UK)
Soirée Nightoo II (Semi-Regular Nightclub, France)
I am aware of a bunch in Germany and Belgium but not sure which ones and how much they are active. Same in the US and Mexico. No idea about the rest of the world.
I will collate these into proper links and have them somewhere visible but until then, can anyone think of any other sites, pages and events I have not included and kindly provide a link so I can add them to the list.
Also, feel free to point out to anyone else who might be interested that this group exists as well as linking any images, videos or tracks that might be good to post up :3

Update + New Admin
Posted 11 years agoHello Everyone,
Neakal here.
As you may have noticed, this group has been somewhat inactive. I have spoken to the original founder and she was happy for me to administer the group to keep it a bit more active :)
So, I am hoping to keep this group a little more visible by posting things like music, dance videos, links to websites or events that Cybers might be interested in as well as returning the watches that we have been receiving. If anyone wants us to post any images of themselves or their fursonas cybered up or have some art relating to Cybergoth they would like posted, feel free to message.
A bit more of myself, I am from the UK (so if I do post events, they will have a UK bias to them) and been involved with Cybergoth stuff for about 3-4 years. Mainly a fan of industrial and EBM (primarily Harsh EBM/Hellectro and Industek) though I've enjoy Hardstyle as well. I club in London's industural clubs, Slimelight and Antichrist fairly frequently and have a passion for dancing, though how good I am is debatable
So, yeah. Hopefully I should keep this group interesting and active enough :3
Cheers,
- Russ

A bit more of myself, I am from the UK (so if I do post events, they will have a UK bias to them) and been involved with Cybergoth stuff for about 3-4 years. Mainly a fan of industrial and EBM (primarily Harsh EBM/Hellectro and Industek) though I've enjoy Hardstyle as well. I club in London's industural clubs, Slimelight and Antichrist fairly frequently and have a passion for dancing, though how good I am is debatable
So, yeah. Hopefully I should keep this group interesting and active enough :3
Cheers,
