Furry Guardians #6
Posted 16 years agoI can finally let you all know when the new issue of Furry Guardians is being released.
It will be available from the Furplanet table at Midwest FurFest next weekend, so if you're going to the convention, be sure to stop by the Furplanet table to check it out and maybe even buy a copy. :)
For everyone else, the new comic should be available online shortly afterwards.

Update on me...
Posted 16 years agoHaven't been on here much recently and just thought I'd update you all on what's been happening with me.
I've been doing a lot of overtime at work for the past several weeks, which I've had to take because I need the money and don't always have the opportunity.
Unfortunately, this has meant that the amount of time I have to work on art has been drastically reduced, and even when I do have some time, I've been more tired and less inclined to start drawing than normal. As such, progress on my commissions and comics has slowed to a crawl.
Although there has been some progress and I have been able to finally finish one commission pic yesterday. So new stuff by me is coming, just very slowly...

27th September
Posted 16 years agoJust wanted to mention, for those few of you out there who might care, that today is my birthday. I am now 31 years old.
It's been a pretty loy-key, boring day...

Getting back on track...
Posted 16 years agoWell, I'm feeling a lot better now, and I just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who responded to my previous journal for their comments and opinions.
I am now trying to get back on track with my art and have even knocked out a new pic, which I'll be posting after I post this journal. I just wanted to do something quick to help me get back into drawing.
What I really need to do now is focus on comics and commissions. I've got people waiting for pics from me and I still want to try and get the last House of Lazarus done by the end of the year.

Crisis of Confidence
Posted 16 years agoAfter finally finishing Furry Guardians #6 yesterday, I had intended to get back into drawing, working on something new.
But instead, I seem to have been hit with a bit of depression instead, a crisis of confidence about my art. It's something I seem to go through every now and again, but the timing of this one really sucks.
And it hasn't helped that I happened to come a across a critical comment about me while surfing the net, basically saying that despite drawing for years, I have not improved in any way. The guy's fully entitled to his opinion, and I fully accept that my art style is not going to be to everyone's taste, but it still stung a little, and was, I feel, a little unfair. I think I have improved gradually over time.
So what do you guys think? Have I improved over time? Or am I actually a terrible artist who should stop inflicting my crap upon the world?

Finally!
Posted 16 years agoThe past several weeks have not been too great for me. After succeeding in avoiding catching the flu that's been going around, I instead fell ill with something else. Twice!
Yes, I've been ill twice over the past few weeks with 2 seperate problems, about a week apart from each other. I'm not going to go into details, but it hasn't been pleasant, except for the lovely long weekend I got to spend with my boyfriend. :)
I am feeling better now, but recently I have not done too much in the way of artwork, and want to apologise to all my commissioners for the delay in their pics.
But, in a small bit of good news, I have finally, at long last, finished work on Furry Guardians #6! It feels bloody fantastic to have it done, as it's been hanging over my head for months, with various problems causing work on it to take so much longer than I had intended. It's so weird that I had originally though I could have it done in time for Anthrocon earlier this year...
I have no idea yet when it might be released, but I'll keep you all updated.
Now, I'll be able to make a start on House of Lazarus #4 and put more time into catching up with commissions.

Commissions Temporarily Closed
Posted 16 years agoRecently, I seem to have fallen behind on my comics and commissions work. My own fault really, I've been letting myself get distracted by various other things. I need to try and regain my focus.
And so, I'm not taking any more commissions at the moment, until I'm caught up on those I've already agreed to.
Once I'm back on track, I will reopen commissions. But I can't be certain of when that will be.

Opinions Wanted on an Artistic Decision
Posted 16 years agoI'm just looking to find out what people think on this.
Recently, I posted a look at a panel from a future page of The Corps here: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/2615521/
When I first designed the armour for the series (here: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/993048/ ), I made the visor just solid red, which looked fine in a single pic. However, when it came to draw these visors on characters in an actual comic, I encountered the problem that with the eyes covered up, it makes it a lot harder to depict expressions. Since that's not really a strong point of mine anyway, I needed to figure out what to do.
Dropping the visor altogether wasn't an option. It's not there just to look good, I've envisaged it as a piece of equipment for the troopers, sort of high-tech binoculars, with various built in scanners and offering the wearer various enhanced vision modes (such as night vision).
After some consideration of the various options, I settled on a compromise, as you can see in the preview panel. The idea was to simply hint at the eyes, hopefully giving the impression of the visors being sort of semi-transparent.
I thought this was a good, simple and effective solution that fitted in well with my art style. I've even used it throughout the upcoming Furry Guardians #6, for a character who wears goggles.
I'm a little curious what others think of it though. Does it work for you? Or is it too simplistic?

August Comics Update
Posted 16 years agoTime for the monthly update on my comics projects.
Furry Guardians
I have now finished drawing issue #6. All the pages have been inked and scanned, so now it's just a matter of colouring them.
I'm still in the process of figuring out the story for #7.
House of Lazarus
Issue #4 is at the stage where I can start drawing it, but will wait until I'm done with Furry Guardians #6.
The Corps
I have a total of 2 new pages completely finished, with a number of others in various stages of completion.
In fact, I'm going to post a single panel from one of the completed pages as a sort of fun preview/promo, as I'm pleased with how it's turned out. :)
Next Month...
A new thing for these updates, setting myself some targets to aim at for next month, in order to help motivate me.
So, by the next update post in september, I want to try and have Furry Guardians #6 completely finished and to have started drawing House of Lazarus #4. And to have a t least a few more pages of the Corps done. Let's see how much I manage... :)

My Comics - What Not to Expect...
Posted 16 years agoWell, House of Lazarus #3 has been out for a bit now, and I have been hearing from people who bought it. The response has been generally positive, but there is something I have started to feel a little concerned about.
A few people have expressed expectations about the 4th and final issue. Some are apparently expecting big surprise twists and revelations. Some are expecting the backstories of various charcters to be told. This has led to me starting to develop a bit of a paranoid worry that the end result is just going to be a big disappointment for most people when it doesn't match up to the expectations they've built up in their imaginations.
So, I just want to try and downplay people's expectations. The mini-series is the story of Connor and his yiffy experiences as Lazarus' captive. Try not to build up expectations of it being more than that. The ending is the ending I've had in mind since I first started the comic.
I do have ideas for further HOL mini-series and one-off specials beyond this one, and I worry that a load of upset and disappointed readers will make it harder to summon up the motivation and enthusiasm to produce them.
Moving on, I also want to take a moment to talk about what not to expect from my other comic series, Furry Guardians.
When I recently did a couple of yiffy furry superhero pics, I heard from a few people who had jumped to the conclusion that because they were furry superheroes drawn by me, they were in some way connected to Furry Guardians.
I think I need to say this again so that it's clear. Furry Guardians is very much a non-yiffy series, do not expect anything pornographic to appear in it ever. I will not even be drawing and adult Furry Guardians pics. I have always intended for Furry Guardians to be more about the stories and characters than yiff.
In future, anything by me that features furry superheroes in pornographic situations, I guarantee it is not related to Furry Guardians in any way. And anything that is related will usually have Furry Guardians in the title, or have the logo on the pic on be described as being connected to Furry Guardians. I hope this makes things clearer.

July Comics Update
Posted 16 years agoI didn't do a comics update last month for whatever reason, but want to get back into it as I hope it'll help motivate me on the comics front, help me regain my focus (something I seem to be having a problem with at the moment), so here goes:
The House of Lazarus
Issue #3 was available at Anthrocon this past weekend, and is available to order online, but please be very patient with the Furplanet guys if you do order, as they'll probably have only just got back from Anthrocon and therefore any orders might take a little time to be shipped: http://furplanet.com/shop/item.asp?itemid=404
I would like to have the fourth and final issue done by the end of the year. At least, that's the plan, we'll have to see what actually happens...
Furry Guardians
Issue #6 remains unfinished and work on it seems to have slowed to a crawl. I really would like to have it done by the end of the month, but that may be difficult.
Beyond that, I would like to have #7 done by the end of the year as well. Although at this moment, I don't even have the full story for it worked out yet.
The Corps
There has been some progress, but not a lot. Right now, I have a total of 4 new pages drawn. So, it is coming along, but slowly. Don't expect it to be back anytime soon.

Anthrocon
Posted 16 years agoJust wanted to post a quick reminder to anyone who's attending Anthrocon this weekend. Be sure to stop by the Furplanet table in the Dealers room, where you'll be able to buy my comics as well as numerous other fine publications. :)
Available for the first time at the con will be the 3rd issue of 'House of Lazarus'. And for those not going to the con, the new comic will be available to order from Furplanet. In fact, it is technically available to order now, but be warned, as it says on the main page of the site ( www.furplanet.com ), any orders placed now will not be shipped until after the Furplanet staff return from Anthrocon.

I'm back...
Posted 16 years agoAfter nearly 3 weeks, I think my creative spark is returning. Had the urge to do some drawing and have drawn three new sketches (which I'll probably be posting after I've done this journal). It feels good to be drawing again.
I'm going to take it slow for the moment and work on finishing some commissions before I get back into doing comics or anything else.
Alos, I've decided to make a fresh start with regards to comments on here. I've been letting them build up for months and I kept telling myself I'd get around to them eventually. It's time I faced facts and accepted that wasn't going to happen. I just want to say I'm very sorry to every one who commented on my works and journals over the past few months who I didn't reply to. I'm going to try and keep more up to date on replying to comments in future...
Anyway, I hope you all like the new sketches

What's Going On With Me...
Posted 16 years agoOk, in my last journal, I said I was hoping to be more active on here after I finished the next House of Lazarus comic. But as you may have noticed, things haven't turned out that way as this is the first thing I've done here since I posted that journal.
What's happened is my creativity seems to have deserted me again. Whenever I try to work on any art or comics, I just find that I have no creative energy or motivation at all, and am unable too get anything done. I actually haven't been able to do anything since I finished that new House of Lazarus issue nearly 2 weeks ago. Maybe pushing myself to get it done burned me out a little...
Whatever the cause of this lack of creative energy, it has had the unpleasant side-effect of leaving me feeling down and depressed a good deal of the time.
I know it's just a matter of time until I get through this and start drawing again, as I've been through something similar a few times in the past, but while it lasts, it's no fun. Recently, I've just been taking a break from all art and furry stuff and everything, doing my best to keep myself cheered up with other things and hoping that it isn't too long until my creative batteries are recharged.
But I decided to just stop by here and let you all know what's going on, on the off chance some out there might actually care.
And I want to say a big sorry to those of you waiting for commissions from me for the delays. Once I get over this and start working on artwork again, I intend to prioritise commissions and get them done first.
I'm seriously hoping this creative dry patch doesn't last too much longer...

Updates...
Posted 16 years agoHave hardly spent any time on FA recently. For weeks, I've been spending most of my spare time working on comics, specifically House of Lazarus #3. I wanted to try and get it done by today, as tomorrow I'm off to spend a long weekend with my boyfriend, and wanted to be able to make a fresh start on something else when I got back.
Well, it turned out I under-estimated just how much time and work finishing the comic would require. But, I put in the time and effort and managed to get it done earlier today! That's right, I have now finished House of Lazarus #3! And it feels so damn good to finally have it done! Hopefully, it should be available at Anthrocon and then online afterwards.
Unfortunately, I think I can safely say that Furry Guardians #6 will not be available at Anthrocon. Looking at the amount of work yet to do on it, I just don't think it's possible.
But anyway, it seems that while I was away from FA with my comics, I passed a couple of milestones on here. My page has now had more that 25,000 pageviews, and I have more than 1,000 watchers! Wow. So, a big thank you to everyone who has watched me recently!
Hopefully, I'll be more active here on FA now, but we'll have to see how things go.

Art Theft - Update! :)
Posted 16 years agoGood news!
It seems Cafe Press have taken action with regards to guy selling other people's art. Less than 24 hours after this came up, it seems like all the stuff has now been removed: http://www.cafepress.co.uk/wimmer_tommy
So, I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who helped out by spreading the word to all the artists who's artwork was being used. :)

Art Theft - A little help...
Posted 16 years agoKuma Chan has just brought this to my attention, someone is selling items on CafePress.com using a pic I drew a few years back as a gift for him: http://shop.cafepress.co.uk/design/18833178
Suffice to say, I have just sent the site an email informing them of this and asking them to remove the items. However, it seems the same guy is selling numerous items with pics from a variety of artists, and I doubt very much that he has permission from any of them.
So, first off, DO NOT buy anything from this bastard who's trying to make some quick cash by stealing and selling someone else's work. But please take a look at his stuff and see if you recognise any of the images he is using: http://www.cafepress.co.uk/wimmer_tommy
If you do recognise anything, please get in touch with the artist of that image and suggest that they get in touch with CafePress.com to have them removed (after some looking on their site, this seems to be the email address for them to contact: trademark[at]cafepress.com ).
Hopefully we can get this bastard shut down quickly...

May Comics Update
Posted 16 years agoTime for May's comics update. This past month has mainly about working on stuff for Anthrocon.
House of Lazarus
The whole of issue #3 has been inked and scanned and I'm working on the colouring. It should be ready for release at Anthrocon in July.
Furry Guardians
Issue #6 is in the works, with about half the pages now drawn. I'm hoping for an Anthrocon release, but that's not entirely certain at this point.
I'm also planning on doing another freebie Furry Guardians mini-comic when #6 is done.
The Corps
After last months update, I didn't want to go another month with no progress to report, so I did make a start on drawing the next chapter. It was only the 1 page and it was a pretty simple page, but at least it's a start...

Posted 16 years agoJust a quick reminder, the sale on my comics at Furplanet.com ends in a few days time, with Thursday 30th being the last day. So if you haven't yet taken advantage of the offer to get some of my comics, now's the time to act!

Comics, Commissions and Comments
Posted 16 years agoI'm still trying to catch up on comments. I've managed to reply to all the comments from my previous journal. However, comments on my pics are going to have to wait.
This week, I found out that the deadline for new comics for Anthrocon is closer that what I had assumed (the moral of the story: don't assume too much). I still think I can make the deadline, but as a result, I need to prioritise. For the next month or so I need to spend my time working on my comics and commissions and put FA on hold.
So, to all those of you who commented on my pics over the past few months and haven't received a reply, I'm very sorry. I do want to get to them eventually, but I'm going to be busy with other things at the moment.
And on commissions, I do want to assure those who have commissioned me that I am still working on your pics in addition to my comics. And if you're thinking of commissioning me, I am still open, however there may be a delay in me starting on your pic...

Trying to catch up...
Posted 16 years agoJust got back from a long 4-day weekend visiting my boyfriend. It was fun, but tiring.
I find myself still trying to catch up with things here on FA. I seem to have picked up a number of new watchers (welcome to you all!). I still have a load of comments to catch up on replying to and a load of new submissions to look at. I'm starting to wonder if I should just accept that I'm never going to be fully caught up with things here at FA... :)
I've been looking around some other sites since I got back and stumbled across some critical comments about my work (I'm not going to say where). Basically, saying that I draw all guys with the same expression and the same souless eyes and that my comics are a virtual waste of space.
I suppose I should just ignore such comments and move on, but I wanted to ask everyone honestly if they thought there was any truth to them? I will readily admit that eyes and expressions are not my strong point, but I feel saying they are all the same is somewhat unfair.
The paranoid part of me just has trouble letting go of such comments (like my art, I'm far from perfect)...

April Comics Update
Posted 16 years agoRunning late with this update. I really should try harder to do this at the start of the month
Remember: April is be Cyberklaw Month at Furplanet, meaning that there will be a sale on all my comics throughout the month! So, if you haven't yet tried any of my comics, or there's an issue missing from your collection, this month is the chance to buy them at a better price. They can be found on sale here: http://cyberklaw.furplanet.com
Now, onto the monthly update of my various comics projects for those of you who are interested:
The House of Lazarus
I'm pleased to be able to report that yesterday I finished drawing all 32 pages of issue #3! Now I just need to get them all inked, scanned and coloured.
Furry Guardians
Issue #5 is out now: http://furplanet.com/shop/item.asp?itemid=389
Now that I have The House of Lazarus #3 drawn, I plan to make a start on drawing #6. I'm hoping to have the issue done in time for Anthrocon later this year.
The Corps
The Corps remains stalled, with no progress. Most of my time this past month has been spent drawing The House of Lazarus.
Others
No real progress on any other comics projects. Although I have come up with a vague story idea for an 'Argues Rex' one-shot graphic novel (based on this pic: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/2137585 ) that I hope I might be able to fit into my schedule later in the year.

Updates and stuff...
Posted 16 years agoJust a quick journal post with some news and updates and stuff...

I'm still trying to catch up on comments and submissions and things here on FA. I probably won't actually get the time to reply to everything, so if your comment doesn't get a reply from me, I'm very sorry.

saberkenji has done some fantastic Furry Guardians fan art! Check it out:

Furry Guardians #5 will be debuting at Furry Weekend Atlanta this weekend, so if you're going to be there, I hope you'll consider dropping by the Furplanet table and picking up a copy.
For everyone else, the new issue should be available online shortly after the convention.

Voting for this year's Ursa Major Awards has opened, but unforunately, this year Furry Guardians is not among the nominees.
I'm not really surprised, as I only managed 1 issue last year, thanks to some laziness and complacency on my part. As such, I do sort of feel like it didn't deserve to be nominated this time around. But there's always next year, and this will hopefully motivate me to do my best to make the series more worthy of nomination next time.
The nominees and how to vote can be found here: http://www.ursamajorawards.org/Voting.htm
