Looking for a fursuit video in specific
General | Posted 9 years agoHi!
I'm looking for a video I found on youtube some months ago, I can't find it again.
It's a guy driving a car while in a fursuit. The car's radio starts by playing Foster The People - Pumped Up Kicks, the fursuit seems mostly black or dark, and the video is a bit low quality. Right in the begining he mentions about a cop who might have saw him, but didn't, and he mentions how he likes the music, and finds the whole situation "so awesome".
I don't remember it was a drive thru prank, so I believe it's not. Dude goes right into some sort of highway right away infact.
Sometimes I'm obsessed with silly things, I know. =U I really wanna see THAT video again. X3

Merry Xmas and Happy New Year!
General | Posted 10 years agoHey!
Yes. It's awfully late. I've decided to wait this long 'til I could honestly and sincerly wish that for everyone, instead of just empty words. I'm afraid to say that my December wasn't that great. So I'm saying it now! Even though it's past that. Maybe that counts as for next year then? o.o
Anyway, no need to worry about anything. I faded away a bit but I'm back in track. Things are sorting out, and I've been somewhat busy due some changes in my life, like, moving to a new place. Now I'm gonna live alone, have a house all for myself! I must say the freedom is amazing, and I haven't even moved yet! =^_^'=
Who knows this will result in even drawing some stuff eh? Geez, it's been a while, I even haven't post anything on FA yet...

Dissection of the FA/IMVU deal
General | Posted 10 years agoWell, hell broke loose in FA because of that, and I totally agree with this behaviour, up to a certain level. But the drama thing will be reserved for another journal. And while I could post this in FA's forum, the topic in specific, I'd rather do here, so people can better read, share and quote me.
Let's make a quick summary of what really happened.
- IMVU bought FA. What is IMVU? http://www.imvu.com/about/index.php
Although there're some theories of when this really happened, it's safe to presume it happened between December/14 and January/15. (http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/6588324 ) Dragoneer already calls IMVU as "boss". (http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/6588795/ )
- Presumably, FA will work independently from IMVU. (http://www.imvu.com/catalog/modules.php?op=modload&name=phpbb2&file=viewtopic.php&p=11283354 )
- This purchase doesn't seem it was sufficiently well analyzed by Dragoneer himself. (https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CAfCwzKU8AAGb3W.png ) (http://i.gyazo.com/908e9ac93bcd4243d05d577355b5b652.png ) (Note that the whole "page 9" thing was a joke made from Danza's twitter, put out of context. Dragoneer couldn't notice, somehow.)
The concerns about this is how this will impact FA's future. In special, if this will mean FA will be severly manipulated, censured, enslaved, tossed around or even closed altogether. While there're no clarifications of details of the contract, as it's an NDA (https://forums.furaffinity.net/threads/1353961-FA-IMVU-Discussion?p=5109842&viewfull=1#post5109842 ), the basics of any contract agreement is that both parties want to benefit from this deal. Dragoneer might be an idiot but he can't screw this up, unless, I dunno, he was held hostage and was forced to do this deal, which is absurd. Occam's razor, ok?
One thing that was pointed in the FA forums, but I'll detail further, is who actually is IMVU and if it has some sort of boss or anything. Someone claimed that IMVU is publicly traded, but I couldn't find any information on that, so I guess it's not. No shares on stock markets, public or private, existance... nothing. IMVU is, however, backed up by investors. (http://www.imvu.com/about/faq.php ) These investidors may or may not have their own shares and/or participation of IMVU, but I can't be sure.
Best Buy Capital I suppose it's uhhh Best Buy. Very large and little concerns to nitpicking. But while it would be an extreme stretching, now you can say that technicly Best Buy endorses FA, and all the stuff in this website. I don't really think they would be happy with that, but Best Buy looks too much "no fucks given" to worry. Yes, you can buy stuff in BB with Paypal, and paypal doesn't like pornography at all, but like I said, extreme stretching.
Menlo Ventures seems to be the tipical venture capital firm. Investing for equity and selling to whoever pays the best. So it has no attachment to anything, as evidenced by what it has done already.
Allegis Capital looks pretty flexible, but a careful read of the company's website points out it possibly holds 20% of IMVU.
And Bridgescale... I don't know. I barely could find much info about it, even on their's website.
So while IMVU claims it's not willing to interfere with FA, it might have to do so if they inverstors pressure them if they need them very bad. This doesn't mean IMVU can behave like Activision was to Sierra and fuck up FA really, REALLY bad. It just sounds very unlikely.
What leaves here is expeculating what are the possible reasons for the purchase.
From Dragoneer's side, it seems pretty obvious. However are the reasons, FA seems to lack technological progress and this may relate to financial problems. Upgrading hardwares costs money, and even if Dragoneer had some servers sitting around being unused, up-to-date technology is usually much superior. And expensive. Not that FA seriously needs hardware improvements as far as it can be seen; it already does fairly well in time response and reliability, even better than Amazon AWS in certain aspects. FA is no Angelfire (kudos for those who get the joke XD). The way Dragoneer talks about this deal is that MAYBE IMVU will get for FA some technology in the sense of software, maybe 3rd party or other solutions implemented by IMVU already or partners/investors, or even workforce. How you make your boss work for you I don't know, plus I wonder what to say about CURRENT FA's workforce, but I'm considering what he might had in mind.
Another possibility is just plain money for a "won't do a thing tho" contract. Analyzing Dragoneer's side only, he could've just sold the website for a ridiculous ammout of money, for the sake of the money. Unlikely, I confess, but not impossible.
From IMVU's side, things start to get more shady... The more likely reason is "buying marketing". The furry fandom easly shows large interest in itself (it is a fandom of itself), has a lot of self zeal and due to it's transparency it has a fairly higher ammout of trust between furries in comparison to people outside the fandom. While "to what degree this is true" would be another discussion, the idea is that IMVU is trying to attract more customers for it's service. Not only that, but attracting GOOD customers, those who become fans of the company and/or services and/or products and will be willing to do free low level marketing campaigns, in the sense of review and trust. In other words, mouth-to-mouth publicity of just saying "Hey, I like it! It's good" to whoever asks about what's IMVU and if it's good or not. Although this doesn't look valuable, and some companies actually ignore it, by marketing aspects this is extremly valuable for a company/brand/service/product. This is what makes the product reach the status of "famous" and "popular". No matter how convicing is a marketing campaign, an opinion of someone unrelated to the thing being sold is always more convincing, cuz we would believe it's an honest opinion given the person has nothing to profit to say such things, thenfore, it would be unlikely to be false.
This kind of marketing "power" is probably what IMVU was looking for in buying FA. It's trying to buy fans.
But the problem is... This is a bad idea.
The proper way of having fame and recognition is thru a meritocratic process. In other words: it NEEDS to be GOOD so people will like it. The horde of sheeple might be ignorant, but only for a while. If the product/service/brand is really bad, people will learn that, and the "fame" will only make it "infamous".
And it's fairly likely IMVU would have such a bad idea. For example, IMVU does not allow adult content in it. Why a company like that would buy FA, with not only a large quantity of readily available porn, but even with those eye-scarring, nausea-inducing, nightmare-fueling stuff?
The other possible reason for buying FA from IMVU's perspective is for selling personal information as a big data. Guys, open your eyes, there's a "black"market of such things. The "black" is in quote because it's not technicly illegal, but it's often downright evil. And sometimes it IS illegal. A LOT of companies out there keep an extremly meticulous track of what every single thing every user does. And then that information is sold, sometimes with some processing involved (graphs generated, demographic study, etc.).
While IMVU doesn't sell Personal Identifiable Information (PII) (http://www.imvu.com/catalog/web_info.php?section=Info&topic=privacy ), it does in "aggregate" form. Although IMVU's "aggregate form" is very "personal". It's basicly Personal Information, it's just not Identifiable (they won't share your name/e-mail address, it'll probably look pseudo-anonymous, like a number ID and that's it).
Depending on the contract that Dragoneer signed, this might include doing the same to FA, not only IMVU. (I'm SPECULATING, remember) Yes, this is very, VERY bad for all FA users, although a good share might do worse thru Facebook's or Google's ToS and PP. Yet FA is no place to such kind of things.
And despite of all I've said as this second possible reason, I still find it unlikely. As a big data of FA wouldn't be that much of use for IMVU or others interested in buying.
This does matches a good reason for the second possibility for Dragoneers. IMVU might just've said "Give me FA's PI/PII and I'll give you X ammount of money.". But like I said above, unlikely, but not impossible.
My main pet peeve with all this deal however IMVU per se.
OMG IT'S AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWFUL. I've seen some furries comparing it with Second Life (SL). No, it's far far inferior, even more than Furcadia. Infact, the only thing better than Furcadia are the graphics, and barely; Instead of being early 90's, it's late 90's. To better describe it, it's like a 3D chat. You have your avatar, you do some gestures when you speak, and you can interact with some objects in the chatroom. Yes, the chatroom is a room, and you can't even walk. Yes, I'll have to say it again: you can't even WALK. You just click on things and "poof" you're there.
The "economy" of IMVU is unecessarly complex and looks fairly exploitable (ponzi-ish, pegged and without stock market possibilities, for those who knows economics), not to mention that it looks slight biased towards IMVU itself. It's like you're geeently being squeezed money out of your pockets. It isn't much uncomfortable, but you ARE being squeezed. It actually reminds me of those korean-like or wannabes MMORPG games or Facebook games that have a heavy pay2win system. Except there's nothing to win in IMVU... It is not a scam, but it sure smells like a scam. It really smells.
It claims it has surpassed SL in number of accounts created, but given how the economy system can be exploited with new accounts, I'm not surprised on how it could have so many accounts. Although it's surprising how it has so many people online, or so it claims. At least that is comparable SL, around 60k. SL is usually slightly above that number, IMVU seems to be slighty under.
OMG, Dragoneer. How did you DARE to sell FA to that PIECE OF SHIT. If at least it was to Linden Labs I couldn't be mad, despite of all SL's frequent hiccups as a service. You didn't HAVE to sell it after all, and there were other good options as some people claimed. Maybe worse, but you could've just said no to all of them.
My greatest worry is in case IMVU is bought by an evil company and shit spills to FA. OR, IMVU bankrupts and drag FA together. Maybe this is the begining of the end of FA, and people will finally have a GOOD reason to move to Weasyl, although being a meritocratic relativity then. And I really hope Weasyl improves, otherwise, I will start a furry artwork gallery of my own!! I'm dead serious!
PS: I really don't like providing tl;dr to stuff I write, but... This one was massive even for my standards, so I will.
tl;dr: Dragoneer sold FA to IMVU, an SL wannabe, which is backed up by investors like Best Buy. Who knows what they might do to IMVU and if it'll affect FA. In theory, IMVU won't bother FA. IMVU says they won't.
IMO, the possible reasons Dragoneer sold FA, in order of likelyhood:
a) "Hey, IMVU? Gimme money and support for my site, pretty pwease?"
b) "BIG CASH! TROLOLOLO! Now I'll paint my walls with Bad-Dragon's cum lube! And my new boss won't touch my FA!"
IMO, the possible reasons IMVU bought FA, in order of likelyhood:
a) "You furrys now tell people IMVU 'iz gud', k? Now play the damn thing already and empty your pockets."
b) "All Your Data Shall Belong To Us! And we'll sell it to the "black"market! MOO HA HA HA."
IMO, IMVU sucks and people should stay or go to SL if so interested. And I hate how Dragoneer sold FA to such a crap of thing.
If shits get real I'll move to Weasyl, or start my own furry artwork gallery.

Worst habit: Cracking the knuckles, but really, it's not that bad. It's just "the worst".
Fun fact: I have so many stretch marks in my body I consider myself "striped". When you go to a dermatologist with a 50 years long career and he says "I've never seen anything like this before!" you know it's a world record case. XD I'm a tiger after all! X3
--Identity, Sexuality & Personality--
Gender identity: Male.
Sexual preference: Female.
Romantic preference: I'm not demisexual, if it's what that it means. I mean, there's always romance, but instinct comes first.
"Kinsey Scale" score: 0.0000, extra decimal points for better precision. ;3 That's like 100% straight (even despite the whole kinsey's theory).
Relationship status: Single.
Hogwarts house: Uhhhh, Slytherin...? I totally could fit any other but Griffindor. But, but, ...the lion!! =C
--Routine--
"Early Bird" or "Night Owl": Night Owl. Oh so much of a Night Owl...
Bath or shower: Shower... Cuz I never tried a bathtub yet... *shudders*
First thought in the morning: "What time is it? Do I have somewhere to go to soon?"
Last thought before falling asleep at night: "Would that work out well in that way in specific?" (I think so much before sleeping I probably sleep by mental exaustion. XD)
--School/Work--
Do you work or are you a student: Work.
What do you do well: Complex tasks that involves organizing something. I just turn my OCD on and everything goes fine. XD

Physical quality (in yourself): I have a fairly good health despite all odds. It's like my body knows what to do best at certain circunstances, and it acts accordingly.
In Others: Favorite physical quality in others...? No idea! o.o Personality comes first anyway. XP
Mental/emotional quality (in yourself): I'm intelligent. I know it's something hard to discuss because it often makes me look arrogant or makes people feel awkward, but I am really really smart. Some people are just born like that, and I was! *shudders*
Food: Sushi!!! I even sometimes make my own sushi! X3
Drink: Wine. Red over white, except carbenet sauvignon and moscatto.

Artist/Band/Group: I'm guessing music-wise, so Black Sabbath, Dio, Rainbow, Epica, Cradle of Filth, Powerwolf, E Nomine... That covers the top ones.
Author/Poet: J.R.R.Tolkien. Kind of cliche, but he's good, and I like his writting style. I'm like the only person I know who complains he's not enough descriptive! XD

Almost back!
General | Posted 13 years agoFunny... I skipped a journal in DA from here... Well anyways...
My health is improving, the new pc is great, I'm now very active in SL now since I got a new land for the Madhouse of Doom (A bit more expensive than what I had in mind but the place is awesome), I'm online at skype, MSN and steam all the time pretty much.
Now... I haven't drawn much lately. Well, I didn't even install PS yet... XD But I am composing a lot more on the other hand. Maybe I'll be posting some stuff here soon. The new pc helps a lot since I barely could run FL Studio on the other pc, like some instruments which are actually awesome but I didn't know because it was too heavy to run them so I avoided it.
Let's see what else... I got a job, it was bad, I lost the job, now I'm like yaaay! \o/ I need to find a new job, hopefully a good one, but as frugal as I am as always I'm not short in money, fortunately. But my fursuit might have to wait more still... T_T (Darn money conversion)
PS: Now I know how to put stuff in japanese! すごおおおおおおおおおおおい!

Spare time... When?
General | Posted 13 years agoHi! Well, the day has arrived, and now I have a job. Now I wonder how I'll get time to do the stuff I barely had time to without a job. My job isn't as wonderfull as I expected, but I'm somewhat well paid considering the distance I have to travel to go to (I'm pretty much neighbour of it. X3). Not to mention the much I've been learning on it, like indepth computer stuff.
But besides the job, I've been considering other options of getting money. I certainly would like to do commissions, besides I don't think I'm capable of, or ready to. Not exactly for the money, but as the pleasure of doing stuff that can be rewarding. Money is just an easy proof for that. And I'm kiiind of needing the money regardless, but that's another story.
I would like tho to have some tips about what should I do. Life has been slightly less stressful, but I still have some issues. I'm still not comfortable. I have like tons of projects of stuff to do (composing music, programming games, drawing, all together maybe, and wondering about animation, CG style), but while I play games and work, I don't have much time left to do anything. I don't know if I'm trying to do too many things at once, or my life issues are getting in the way of (like sleep pattern issues recently, sleeping like a cat: everywhere, anytime), or maybe my courses (there're still 2 of them) and my job is really taking my time for real.
The only day of the week I'm not complaining are saturdays. While I've been barely into SL, or RCFM raves more precisely, I've been with real life friends. Which is great, but it's like less one day of the week. XD Sunday I breathe, and the rest of the week passes by. No matter how worse it could be, and often is for most of the people, feeling frustrated about not doing stuff I wanted to is being annoying. Maybe I've been playing too many games (LoL and MC are often time consuming, specially the later), but they're being very distresful for me tho, so I think it worths (ironicly even with my unluck/ELO Hell doors in LoL, it's still distressful XD).
Not even my time managing skills are helping anymore, despite how much I polished them by now. At least I'm enjoying them, like checking the prices of computer parts in 20 minutes in 8 different shops and predicting the time spent walking from one to another. I would like to teach people these techniques. =^_^= But making such tutorial is something I wouldn't have time. =\ Actually, maybe my problem with time could be my computer, a 7 years old one, which while has been left behind in the last 2 years was a very prolific investment. This why of the research in shops for computer parts, I'm about to build a new pc, frugal as me. X3 Won't commit the same mistakes as last one, and this new computer shall last for 10 years until I'll have to get a better one. Despite I'll probably play tons of games on it before ever using for more productive stuff, like PS and Matlab (Which I need a better computer regardless...).
PS: Oh yes, after this wall of text I'm not writting it in japanese, as I'm not good enough, plus lazyness. >.>

Fandom = Industry?
General | Posted 14 years agoAham. Okay, I'm not a very widely known FA user, so I wonder who will really read this, but here I go anyway.
It comes to my attention that the price drawing artists charge for theirs works has been theme for long, inconclusive discussions (or drama if you prefer) in the furry fandom. And while I've already expressed my opinion in lots of places about the subject, today I found something quiiiiite interesting:

Stop whining.
Industry standart is based on a book illustration pricelist from the Handbook of Pricing and Ethical Guidelines by the Graphic Artists Guild edition 13.
Artists check out this book for your own good.
While I don't own such mentioned book, it seems to be true information. GAG infact has such book. While the author of the blog goes into the subject, it's briefly. So I'm going to be way more indepth with this.
First of all, if you were an artist, what would be your reaction toward these cases:
"Hi! I'd like a nice artwork to put on my bedroom wall. What's your price?"
"Hi! I'd like a nice artwork to put in the advertising of our new software we're releasing. What's your price?"
If this isn't obvious enough, these are two very different clients. One is the industry, other is the fandom. The problem that it might cause to artist is related to how he handles such kind of clients. While we see the furry part of them with the artworks posted here in FA, we might not know for sure if the same artist also works for. Moreover, we don't know how the artist get his living, if he has a job and what he does in such job.
On the other hand, we have the other side of the story, and with both parts we have "market", or economy. Let me introduce a briefly lesson about economy:
On the martket there's something that has been called "invisible hand", which is a symbolic representation that the market regulates itself, usually based on supply and demand. For example:
If the price of a soap is lower than the expected, everyone will choose to buy it instead of another soap. However, if everyone is buying it, soon there won't be so easy to find that soap, thenfore people will start to pay more for that soap just to have it.
If the price of the soap however is higher than the expected, everyone will buy ANOTHER soap. Thenfore there will be plenty of that expensive soap, so to make it able to sell it, they will try to sell it cheaper.
Okay please, this is just an example, I know economy is way more complex than this, so is this example. But you probably got the basics by now.
The "market" of drawing artists only in FA is big enough to make you able to choose between tons of different artists. While we usually like and/or want one more than others, you still have plenty of options regardless. But the same rule of the economy applies too. This results in a certain ocasion that happened to a few artists:
"Well, if they are still affording for my drawings, I'm still charging this price."
Which infact, makes sense. While some artists are looking to the wall waiting for having a commission to do, some must limit theirs commissions to a determinated number of slots. This is because drawing takes time to do! The number of slots is determinated by the artist to be able to provide a reasonable time to finish (because nobody wants to wait a drawing still being made after 5 months since paid already) and because every artist has it's own pace to finish the drawings. If the artist takes 1 hour to finish the drawing, 100 drawings would take 100 hours! That would take about 4 days if you consider that the artist can remain drawing for 100 hours straight without sleeping, eating or going to the bathroom. Even if the artist can draw that fast, some artist would take even days for the same drawing - every artist is unique.
But the main idea of this explanation is understanding that drawing takes time, and the number of slots availables affects enourmeously the time required to finish all the drawings from the slot batch. Also, that while nobody can keep 100 hours straight drawing, the ammount of time available to the artist per day depends directly of whatever he does when not drawing.
Which means, the more time the artist spends his time per day to draw, more drawings will be finished in less time, so the artist will get more money per day from the commissions.
So! If drawing is what the artist loves to do, wouldn't the artist like to spend the whole day doing it, or at least most part of it, if he/she doesn't already? Probably they would. Would them like to have that lovely time doing what they like being eaten by a hatefull/stressing job? Probably not. BUT! If they are going to keep drawing for commissions the whole day and not have a job, will the commissions with the prices sugested by the fandom sufice? Will it be enough to pay the bills, the gas, the food, the energetics, or even that Cintiq that they always dream of? Sadly, probably not.
Oh well, derp, the solution seems pretty obvious, right? Well....... no. Now comes the other side of the story, the fandom.
This is simple, I'll go thru the statistics. How old are you? Do you a have a job that pays pretty well that you can live only by it and yet have plenty of money to spend on something else? Or do you have a job that barely pays your college so you have to imagine that that cereal bar is some sort of magical food that trully satisfies your hunger and all the vitamins and stuff that the doctors says you need to eat daily? Or you're not even in college because you're too young for that so it's actually mom/dad who gives you the money since you still live with them?
SO! With all that money that you do every month/week, would you spend $100 in a black and white 800x600px image of your fursona? (Look at those pixels dude they're so cool, I think it's your fursona's eyes.) Oh, or maybe would you spend $2000 in a 3508x4961px color image that features your fursona and your friend/boyfriend/girlfriend in an awesome fighting scene with tons of details? No. And personaly I find $450 already too much! *bitch-invisible-slap*.
This is, of course, based on statistics, what is preceieved from the fandom. After all, while the fandom exists by over 30 years, most of us heard about it only on this millenium. So most of us just won't be able to afford any price not even near of what the industry sugests AND PAYS for. (And yes, they pay that ammount) Most of us probably wouldn't even if we had the money infact, since there're things more important spend money on, like food, gas, college, etc..
So this is what led to so many confusion about it. After all, the fandom is not the industry. If you, artist, would like to make a living out of the drawing, certainly, at least for now, the fandom won't be enough. Not in this way. Like I said, supply and demand. The fandom can't supply the demand that a normal living cost requires, thru only by drawing commission means.
Don't you agree? So if we're whining, that's a good thing then, we're helping tha artists, we're giving feedback.
&TL;DR - Well, stop whining and start reading the wall. If I could put in less words and still be easy to understand, I'd've done that. Learning takes time and sometimes even effort. So you either work for it and become smart, or be lazy and keep being dumb. Your choice. XP If you do read all that and still don't learn anything new, your reward then will be my compliments - Congrats, you're wise!

General | Posted 14 years agoWell, I've been in the furry fandom for a long while and beside visiting FA quite often, I didn't had a FA account until today. Merely because I didn't find it necessary at all. I wanted to go to FA when I had some really good stuff to post, but despite nothing so far, I've been dedicating a lot to improve my drawing skills recently. Nonetheless you're supposed to expect more activity from me at DA instead. So if this profile seems very empty for you, well, I expected that too. XD Now go check my DA. XP
