So tired of the cold, but we have a new truck
General | Posted 11 years agoSo anyway.....this has been a mixed month. With Spring now underway it will be a welcomed sight to finally see the cold and snow gone. Though it is still here it is slowly disappearing and that is the one thing I most look forward too. I have survived yet another Pennsylvania winter. The weather is starting to warm up and the remaining snow is melting away. I am looking forward to riding my horses again. I have been riding them, but not as much as they or I would like due to the frigid weather this winter. Also we are getting a new truck. This will be our fourth one. Two we use for the horse trailers and for fetching hay, grass, saw dust, wood, dirt, etc, etc, etc, and two we keep for our own uses. So far we have a 2009 Ram 2500, 2008 Ford F-250, and a 2011 Toyota Tundra. We decided to pick up a 2014 Toyota Tundra 1794 Edition Pick up. This will be our new flagship truck. I am highly impressed with the Tundra we have now and so is the Hubby so the choice for our fourth was very clear. The Dodge and the Ford are needed to do the heavy shit work as Toyota doesn't make a Tundra heavy enough to tow the massive trailers the two duallies can. So anyway that is all the news I have for now ^^

B-17's will vibrate the crap outta you!
General | Posted 12 years agoThat's right. I said B-17. As in the WW2 Bomber. The one that played the role in the movie "Memphis Belle" visited Erie, Pa over the weekend and plane rides were offered to those who could afford the $450 price tag. I pennied up figuring it would be a real experience and the old girl (60-70 years old!) did not disappoint one bit. You think it is hard to fly on the jumbo jets today? You have NO IDEA. My grandfather, on my mother's side, flew tail gunner in one of these beautiful aircraft during the latter half of the European campaign and was one of the few to have made it home to tell his granddaughter of the many missions to which he feared he would never return. Many tails of his plane crew and what life was like in the tail of these great planes. He didn't lie. These planes were rough to fly in. "They'll shake you right down to the bones and then they'll shake you some more!" The thing showed us, during roughly 90 minutes of flight, what the crew was subject too waaaay back the 40's during the war. I came away with a much deeper appreciation for the men who flew them and I can see way they loved these planes so much. It was rough, but it was also fun and a very different experience.
On the mend
General | Posted 12 years agoWell....I am finally healing up. According to my doctor I am now well on my way to full recovery. Still in some pain....well mainly lust sore really if I move around too much. Horseback Riding is still out of the question for now. May not be able to ride at all this year depending on the ribs. Turns out they are a lot more brittle than most people would tend to think. Only bones in your body that were designed to flex. That is their strength and their weakness as well because once broken you cannot flex them at all or they don't heal right. Breathing makes them flex soo.....yeah.
Yay! In pain again.......
General | Posted 12 years agoLast few days I have been in serious pain and the pain meds weren't doing jack shit. Doctor's visit revealed that several ribs, broken after being kicked by a horse, are not healing properly. They didn't set right and.....they have to be re-broken and set again. Not happy............at all...........
Star Trek: Into Darkness
General | Posted 12 years agoFinally got around to seeing this after recovering from injuries. For those unaware? I was kicked by a horse and tossed over a stable wall. Broke my right arm and 4 ribs on my left side. Doing better now. All I will say is this about the movie. If you claim to be a Trekkie and you don't go see this? Pic up your little Lightsaber, beat yourself with it, then go suck up to Yoda because you are not a real Trekkie. This movie was packed with action and laughs. JJ is a genius and I look forward to his next film.
Iron Man 3 and where the hell is Justice League?
General | Posted 12 years agoIron Man 3 is ready to hit the theaters. I have been ready for the latest in the movie franchise since seeing Avengers last year in hopes they can pull it off right this time. I was not a big fan of Iron Man 2. Of course I would imagine that expectations for the latest installment of Iron Man will be fairly high since Avengers was a huge success. We will have that outcome soon enough. Also I have been curious about the Hollywood buzz surrounding the rumors of a Justice League movie. After the finale of the Batman/Dark Knight trilogy I can only assume DC is waiting to see what will become of the upcoming Man Of Steel before acting on anything. Time will tell the tale....
Whooo! 3 months. Also...Bioshock Infinite
General | Posted 12 years agoBeen three months since my last journal entry. Not bad given I have been absent for longer periods of time. Been really busy with life and work in general. Been a rough year for me really, but nothing I haven't dealt with in the past. I picked myself up a copy of Bioshock Infinite. Been a huge fan of this series since the original Bioshock and ever so happy to say that the third title doesn't disappoint one bit. If you haven't already done so be sure to pick up a copy soon. This game is good and that says a lot these days since a lot of games just seem to copy one another so badly it is hard to tell one shooter from the next. I won't post any spoilers, but be sure to explore the game thoroughly. You'll find plenty to do. ^^
Discord Reformed?
General | Posted 13 years agoIt seems Fluttershy has defeated one of the most powerful adversaries the ponies have ever faced! I wonder what kind of role he will play in the remaining season 3 episodes (if at all) or the upcoming season 4? We still have to learn whether or not Twilight will become an Alicorn (as is rumored to have been leaked) as well as what is to become of the other ponies should that destiny play out.
2013
General | Posted 13 years agoHappy New Year! May 2013 be a year to remember. It'll be over before we can blink.....
The Smurfs: A Christmas Carol
General | Posted 13 years agoWatching it on the Cartoon Network. I wasn't too keen on the Live Action Movie, as cute as it was, But they animated the Christmas Special ( As in actual Cartoon animation along with the CGI ) and it was really neat to see them again. The Cartoon versions brought back alot of memories of being parked in front of the TV on a saturday morning watching them waay back when ^^
Happy Thanksgiving!!!
General | Posted 13 years agoHappy and safe Thanksgiving Day to everyone. Now go eat some turkey and stuffing ^^
My Little Pony: FiM Season 3
General | Posted 13 years agoThe two part season premier has aired and we have a hint as to where it is going to go. Much was revealed in this season's opening episodes. Mainly the fact that each pony will now play a much deeper role in the series primarily Twilight Sparkle. Dark magic has also been revealed in a new light in the fact that Princess Celestia and Twilight Sparkle seem to have an understanding of it and the capability to use it. What role this is going to play remains to be seen. We can also assume that Princess Luna shares this ability as well since she was once Nightmare Moon. I can hardly wait for next week's episode. I can only hope that the creators intend to live up to all the promises they preached over the last few months. Hopefully the Crystal Ponies will also make more appearances in the future and the Crystal Empire gives the Mane 6 an all new land to explore and new possibilites for new enemies and new adventures. All I have to say in closing is.....Yay!
Disney Owns......STAR WARS?!?
General | Posted 13 years agoHeard the news thgis morning. And I have to say.....I am just not sure what to make of it. A promise for episode 7 has been made with a new installment to be made every 2 years following, but will they stick with the books or go through with the idea of an "original story" like they proposed? I don't know whether to be very happy or utterly terrified. Worst part is? I won't know the answer to that until roughly 2015......
Resident Evil
General | Posted 13 years agoWhat is it about the movie series that keeps me watching them? The story is, at best, slightly dull and predictable. The acting is not really great. The special effects seems somewhat slapped together. Yet I currently own Resident Evil movies 1-4 and I often find myself watching them. The Game I gave up on after 3 because, let's face facts, 4-5 were just really boring and just silly. I have played Operation Raccoon City and it was ok, but just more of the same. I have seen the new movie. To say it was good is a slight stretch. If you haven't seen it yet? I'd really wait for it to hit the Dollar theaters. It wasn't much better than the last one and they, I don't know what to hope for, left it open for a sixth installment. Would be wise to make it a direct to DVD release at this point. I'd watch it, but not ion the theater.
Total Recall
General | Posted 13 years agoFinally got the chance to go see this last night. ^^ I wanna start off by saying I am a huge fan of the 1990 American science fiction action film starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. The new film is alot like it's namesake original, but offers a wild new spin, well several actually, to the concept. It was a wild action filled ride through the future and definitely worth seeing while it is still in theaters. If you loved.liked the original 1990 film be sure to take this new one in as well. You'll love it! I know I did!
Spiderman was Amazing!!
General | Posted 13 years agoThe Amazing Spiderman was amazing!!! The movie is waaaaaaaay better than the other 3 were! The action was awesome and the story was well written. Peter Parker/Spiderman never looked better and the Dr. Conners/The Lizard.....OMG. For a movie that refrained from using alot of special effects it was a cinematic marvel!!! Go see this film if you have not already.
Disney's Brave
General | Posted 13 years agoOk. So I went to see Walt Disney's latest Pixar film Brave today. I have to admit that I honestly didn't have too much faith in it after Cars 2 shit an engine block last year. I will also admit I was wrong. This film was wonderful! I am talking Pixar's UP wonderful. It had Awesome animation, lots of action and hilarity, and just this wonderful and moving story! Kudos to you Disney and hats off to Pixar for making a truly wonderful film! Thank you!!!
