Prometheus (some Spoilers)
General | Posted 13 years agoYesterday I went to see the film. Something I have not done in a long while. It was nice to get away from the ranch and just have a bit of fun. Anyway. I went to see Prometheus under the assumption, like lust about everyone else that was there, that this was a "prequel". After watching the film and thinking about the varying directions they took I no longer believe it to be a prequel. I believe this is a reboot of the Aliens franchise all together. They changed way too much to be a prequel. The so called "Space Jockey" aliens (That really is a RETARDED name for them) are revealed to be "Engineers" who lost control of a highly dangerous biological weapon they created on a distant world's moon called LV-223. I noted that this IS NOT the same planet the Nostromo landed on which was LV-426. The crew of the Prometheus is forced to face the fact that humanity seems to be a "failed experiment" that the Engineers were going to purge using the Bio-weapon they had created. The Engineers lost control of this bio-weapon (it is NOT the Xenomorphs we all know of from the original film) and the Prometheus crew unknowingly sets this weapon free and it infects and mutates several crew members causing panic. It is discovered that LV-223 is not the Engineer's homeworld, but a Military Installation meant to house the Bio-weapon in realtive saftey and that there are several Engineer Ship docked on the planet. This gives rise to the notion that the Engineers have many such facilities around the galaxy thopugh this is not directly mentioned. Anyway...without spoiling too much there is an appearance of a Xenomorph at the very end with a really neat new design that I feel is alot truer to the species than the original xeno from Alien. Definitely go see this film.

Transformers 3: Dark of the moon
General | Posted 14 years agoDark Of The Moon is the 3rd and final installment in Micheal Bay's Transformers story line. This installment was a real treat and takes the conflict between the Autobots and the Decpiticons to a new level. It is revealed that the Transformers have had a long lasting influence on many of the reasons for the Space Race of the 60s and 70s as well as the Chernobyl incident. The core characters are reprised nicely in their former roles and a few fresh faces are added to the mix. The sexy red Ferrarri, Dino along with Brains, and the Wreckers Fill the Autobot Ranks. Shockwave makes his debut along with the return of Barricade (Yes he is in it towards the end) and Soundwave. We also get to see Lazerbeak and a score of unamed Decpticons getting into the final battle. A damaged and somewhat Humbled Megatron also makes his third appearance along with Starscream. Fianally we see Sentinel Prime who, for all intents and purposes, is the leader of the autobots during the final days of the war on cybertron and Optimus Prime's mentor. (Whom, thankfully, really didn't take after his Mentor to much) The Movie almost picks up right after Revenge Of The Fallen. A couple years down the road when Sam graduates College and moves to D.C. to start a career and his new life with Girlfriend Carly. Shit starts hitting the fan about 1/3 of the way through when Optimus discovers a part from the Ark in Chernobyl and Shockwave attacks. The action picks up at a steady pace from there and more of the story is revealed. The FX were pretty intense on this one and the acting was a tad spotty. There are a few plot holes here and there, but nothing that really subtracts from the story over all. The film progresses briskly and it is easy to keep up if you don't blink too often. ^^ The would recommend the 2D version on this one as the 3D doesn't really offer to much more in terms of the FX. I had a great time and quite a few good laughs with this one though. I would certainly recommend going to see it.
POTC: On Stranger Tides
General | Posted 14 years agoOK!!! I have not done a journal in awhile, but yesterday we went to see Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and I have to say this; The movie lived up to it's name 'cause it was strange. For those, like myself, who have been a fan of the first three Pirates you'll find lots of laughs and adventure tucked away in this film. My only issues with it were that Depp seemed to just "go along" on this one. Jack Sparrow was missing much of the eccentricity and clowny ways he showed in the last three films aand seemed a bit more predictable this time around. Black Beard was indeed fearsome, but not as serious as previous villians such as Davey Jones or Barbossa. He seemed less evil and more just angry really. The story was good, but not on par with previous titles and seemed sorta pieced together. Overall the film was really good, but not as good as it should have been. I hate to say it, but I would not bother with the 3D version because it was really not worth it. See the regular 2D instead.

Battle: LA
General | Posted 14 years agoOMG!!!! This movie came right outta nowhere and it was great!!!!! I thought it was gonna go into all those reported sightings of UFOs over the years, but it went straight into the shit. Explosions, Guns, Aliens in high tech battle suits!!! There was a bit of backstory for Staff Sergeant Nantz and one or two touchy feely moments here and there. Lots of heroics and plenty of wierd alien tech. It could have gone into a bit more detail with the Aliens themselves. You get glimpses of what they basically look like, but nothing too far in detail. If you have not seen the movie yet then what are you waiting for?!? ^^
Dead Space 2
General | Posted 15 years agoOK. I have been playing this game on 360, since it was released on the 25th of Jan, almost every spare minute I have had to play it. Just like the first I FREAKING LOVE IT, but.....(wait for it)... I do have one or two issues. To start off with the game is every bit as dark and creepy as the first....and there is the first issue. It is just like the first one. You are stuck taking a direct route to your goals and basically walking right into the enemy. You are aboard a huge space station/colony and there is no freedom to go exploring. Alternate routes are non existant and you are basically trapped in specific areas of a Massive Space Station named The Sprawl. It would have been nice to see the designers think outside the confines of the first game. Wandering the Ishimura was different in the sense that it was a Starship so limited routes are expected, but aboard a huge Space station? There should have been alternate routes or even side goals to really open the game up. Maybe even chances to sneak up on and then pounce a few Necromorphs. Weapons in the game are just as deadly as in the first with the abilty to be upgraded, but here is the second issue. You are still using, pretty much, overpowered engineering tools with the sole exception of the Pulse Gun (My weapon of choice) as your only real weapon. A couple new weapons were added, but not enough to think they put too much thought into it. This is a sequel. Now I understand why they may have gone the route they did, but a sequel should not be almost exactly like the first game. Now don't take it wrong. This is not a bad game. It is honestly very good and still very fun to play, but there is so much more they could have done just by opening it up some more. if you enjoyed the original Dead Space then don't miss this title, but don't expect too much outside of stunning graphics, a few new enemies, a seriously dark plot, some disturbing cut scenes, and a trip down memory lane aboard the Ishimura (yes it is in the game).

General | Posted 15 years agoTwo words. LOVED IT!!! For all you Sci-fi and/or Disney fans out there this one is a must see and see it in 3D cause it was mind blowing!!! There are a few quirks with the plot, but the action was intense and the visual effects are top notch!! I absolutely loved this long awaited sequel and loved the little twists they threw in. XD
The New My Little Pony
General | Posted 15 years agoOk. I have finally gotten around to checking out the new MLP series on HUB after seeing several pieces of art and reading several journals about them on here. The new ponies are a cuteness overload!!! So far Pinky Pie is the running fav of the group with Apple Jack galloping in second and Rainbow dash soaring into third. I love the new ponies andf look forward to watching new episodes as they become available.

General | Posted 15 years agoFinally saw this Movie. My opinion? IT BURNS!! IT BURNS!! OH GOD MY EYES!!!!! I made it maybe half way through and had to vomit. OH GOD MAKE IT STOP!!!! Someone should take an old rusty metal pipe and beat M. Night Shyamalan with it. Seriously though, Shyamalan, stop now...........
Fallout: New Vegas (PS3 and Xbox 360)
General | Posted 15 years agoIn GENERAL This game rocks out loud. It is everything you would have expected from the Fallout Franchise. A rich, very well laid out story along with vast, sprawling landscape. Interesting, if not repeatative, characters and oddles to see and do. There are more quests than you can shake a stick at and plenty of new enemies as well as the old stand byes to deal with. A new and innovative Companion Interface along with new weapons and a new way of upgrading them. You can also make costume ammo and even Chems!! The Graphics are just as dynamic and detailed as Fallout 3 and the controls are just as tight. Now on to the downside:
Xbox 360:
The game seems to run a tad slower on this system and the frame rates can get real touchy. While this is not bad it can make for some annoying moments during intense game play. The load times are also an issue and can actually hinder the game badly. This can also lead to the occassional freeze up though it seems to happen only rarely.
PS3:
The game runs faster on this system than on the 360. While this may seem good it has drastic drawbacks. The PS3 version seems more glitchy and frame rates can actually come to a stop for brief periods as the system loads data. This tends to cause alot of game freeze and system freeze ups that often require you to reboot the system thus forcing you back to your last save. That can be very frustrating. There is also missing sound that occurs during this glitches.
All in all? If you wanna play this game I would say go with the 360 version just for the sake of fewer freeze ups and less restarts........

Halo Reach WTF?
General | Posted 15 years agoHalo Reach
General | Posted 15 years agoJust got done playing through the game on all levels. Very interesting to say the least. Loved it. I was kinda wary about playing the game when it first came out. Wasn't all that interested in playing after having read "Fall Of Reach". But then I happened across a copy sitting on the shelf at the rental store and said "What The hell" and grabbed it. It took me awhile to get into the feel and setting of the game since I was used to playing the Master Chief so much, but getting into the armor of a previously unknown Spartan was fun. He may not have been the best of them, but Noble 6 Played a very important role in the Halo universe. I am kinda glad I played this game. Definitely better than Halo 3 and Halo 3 ODST. As for the Halo series as a whole.....well.....lets just say I can hardly wait to jump back into John-117's armor again. XD
Resident Evil: Afterlife
General | Posted 15 years agoThe franchise should have renamed this one to Resident Evil: Slow, Boring, and Tedious because. unfortunately, that is EXACTLY what this sequel is. The story is as dead as the zombies and has more plot holes in it than swiss cheese. It seems liked they just threw alot of the elements of the story in there for effects and quick fight scenes. The dud with the big assed axe was at the forefront of these "Tacked On" added details. he served virtually no purpose to the story at all and was taken out in a drawn out, semi-epic fight scene that did nothing to move the already lacking story forward. Whatever possessed to add this character is beyond logic. The whole thing wraps up, or rather doesn't, with yet another new and unexplained character coming into play after Wesker is finally, and in anti-climactic fashion, defeated by Alice, Chris, and Claire at the end. Thus I am betting we can look forward to the Resident Evil franchise being utterly embarassed by another sequel.......hopefully the next one will have a little more "life" to it than this one did........Get the shovels ready people.
Dragon Ball Evolution
General | Posted 15 years agoNow I know what some people already think about this movie, but hear me out. I know this movie has gotten a ton of bad reviews and some are justifiable. I have been avoiding this movie for months now both in theaters and on DVD, but a I finally broke down and rented it out of morbid curiousity. For those who are Dragon Ball, Dragon ball Z/GT fans like myself? You might just find it an interesting film. It gets a little off track in some areas concerning the plot, but follows the basic story of the anime quite closely. All I can say it that this film should never have been a big screen release and would have been better being listed as a high budget "B" movie. It is not really good enough for the silver screen, but honestly, what Dragon ball movie really ever was? In all honesty? Aside from several inconsistancies in the story and a few overly done FX scenes it was actually a very interesting movie.
Survival of the Dead
General | Posted 15 years agoYay! More Romero Zombie goodness!!! Rented it last night and watched it. Not really as good as some of his bigger films, but this wasn't made to be epic. The truth is the movie is merely a filler for events between Diary of the Dead and Land of the dead. it shows one of the characters from both those films and gives a bit more back story to that Chgar as well as more evidence that Zombies are not really so mindless as they have often been portrayed to be. It was a decent flick and worth renting if you are into Zombie movies.
War For AwesomeTron is Awesome
General | Posted 15 years agoI loved War For Cybertron. Great Game. I was on Newgrounds this morning and saw this http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/544746 and I about shit myself I was laughing so hard. XD
Tron Legacy 2.0
General | Posted 15 years agoThe date has been set for the release and the movie will be hot on the heals on this Year's big releases. Disney has been keeping this one low key and that usually means it is set to be bigger than advertised like Pixar's UP was. The clock is ticking and I can hardly wait!!
Predators (Some Spoilers so be warned)
General | Posted 15 years agoOk. This is what I have to say. First off it was good. Really good. The Fx were spectacular to say the very least. The story was lacking and had a couple obvious plot holes large enough to sink the franchise, but it was good none the less. There was mention of two types of predator. A larger Clan and a smaller clan apparently in the midst of a feud of sorts. What got me was the mention that the larger clan was in control of the preserve and yet seemed to be supplying the smaller clan (And by Smaller clan I mean that the Predators of this clan are, in fact, smaller then the others in physical size or they are basically like runts) with game to hunt. The Larger also hunt the smaller from time to time. The larger preds are stronger and apparently able to fend off the smaller clan, but these runts are no slouch by any means. They possess a fiercness all thier own and are highly skilled. That and they seem to have a more sophistcated level of tech. Evident in the bird like tracking drone they employ and more powerful Plasma based weapons. This rivalry is shown in a brief battle beween one of the larger clan (who was captured and kept alive for unknown reasons) and the leader of the smaller clan hunting party. Shorty won out through raw skill and speed. Another point in this film shows a human survivor whoi had Pred gear he appartently stole after killing at least three preds and had fashoined armor and weapons for himself. he winds up getting killed by the tuscked pred 3/4 of the way through. Why did no one figure on grabbing his gear? The helmet and the weapon had a cloaking device. ( From the looks of it the helmet and the cloak were tied into the weapon he had ) Thta would have drastcically tippied the balance of power in the humans favor. I dunno. maybe I am just being overtly picky. ^^ The action is great and the Preds are looking hot in this one! (I personally thought the runt leader was kinda cute) definitely go see this one in the theaters.
Transformers: War For Cybertron
General | Posted 15 years agoIt hit shelves on Tuesday and I was playing it only minutes after the game shop opened. I was a tad worried about how the game would turn out after such titles as Transformers The Game (Based on the 2007 Transformers Movies) and, of course, Transformers Revenge Of The Fallen (Based on the movie of the same name). However those fears were adequately relieved upon seeing the opening animation (after starting the game). Visiually this game leaps ahead of both previously mentioned titles and gets right into the story and the nitty gritty. I loved the game play and found it hard to set my controller down. This was a plus in my book because I love the Transformers and I love playing games. I was very happy to see Peter Cullen voicing Optimus and adored how some of the achievements are named after popular episodes from every Transformers series. [Example: After defeating Starscream in the Autobot campaign you unlock an achievement called "A Prime Problem" Which was the name of a Beast Wars episode.] I loved the voices and adored the story arc. That is where the praise stops though. The game falls short...literally. The Single Player campaign is short. I know the focus these days is Online Mulitplayer, but come on!! NOT EVERYONE like playing online or can get online. There really should have been more to the single player than anything else. Next is character Customization. Not much to work with. You are pretty much stuck to making a generic char based solely on the models used in the game. The most you can do is change the paint scheme and little else. The game could have really used more in that area. Maybe being able to at least add custom paint schemes or adjust the facial features a tad more? This is definitely the best TF game to come out and I know you can only expect so much, but it is the little things that really make a game trully epic. Whilst a damned close one for this game I would say it could have been much, much more with a tad bit of extra effort. This one is a definite renter, but you may wanna hold off on buying it.
