Jonah Hexx, Toy Story 3 & Smurf'd
General | Posted 15 years agoYesterday we went and saw Jonah Hexx. Now I am a long time fan of the DC comic and I was really impressed with the movie. It is every bit as dark as the comic was. Jonah Hexx is one of the many unsung DC characters and by far, in my opinion, one of the best. The movie is on par with titles like The Dark Knight and visually just as spectacular. Megan Fox is also featured in this film for all you boys and does a damned good job p;laying her role. This is definitely one to see in the theaters.
One the same note we also took in Toy Story 3. Following in the footsteps of the two previous titles the latest installment catches up to the main characters a number of years later as they face the thought of either being stashed in the attic, tossed in the trash, or donated to the neighborhood Daycare center. It was rich with comedy and typical Disney styling as Woody and Buzz lead their friends through yet another life changing adventure to find their true place in life. This was worth the ticket price so don't pass it up.
And as for Smurf'd? Well it is what the name implies. Featuring those lovaable, if not annoyingly cute, little blue bastards The Smurfs the trailer we saw with Toy Story 3 implies they are set in modern day Earth. While the trailer didn't reveal too much the Smurfs themselves are, of course, CG animated (And here I was hoping to see some blue painted dwarves) and appeare briefly hanging off and New York Cab....poor little bastards. I am curious to see how this film will play out when it is released in 2011.

General | Posted 15 years agoHmmm.....how to properly sum this up. Wait for it to hit DVD. There. That said here is my impression. The Concept of the story is good, but the execution was lacking in quality. It really bothered me that they left a shit load of plot complications that seemed as though they were just thrown in there to cover the numerous plot holes and over the course of he film I became rather detatched to the main character, Dren, who is this Human Chimera. She went from being an intense and interesting char to being just another "Freak" type monster. After awhile you just give up caring about her and what happens to her. Usually not a good thing for a story like this.... All in all it wasn't bad, but I would chuck it in the same bin as Alice in Wonderland and leave it at that.
Just poking around......

Tron Legacy
General | Posted 15 years agoLet me start off by saying that I FUCKING LOVE Tron. For those of you who ask "What the fuck is Tron?" Tron is a Disney, Yes I said DISNEY, film released back in 1982 and it is a cult classic Sci-Fi film. I saw the movie when I was only 8 years old with my dad and cousins. Tron was cutting edge back when it was released and even contained sexually charged content (removed before the movie was publically released) along with tons of visual delights. Haven't seen it? Get out there and rent it then. Now we come to 2010 and the news that a sequel is currentky in production that will take the concept of the 1982 original to a whole new level! Tron Legacy will take place 25 years after the setting in the first Tron and includes actors Jeff Bridges and Bruce Boxleitner from the original 1982 film. Tron Legacy boasts some cutting edge effects and all new designs for the famous Light Cycles! I can hardly wait!!!!!!!

Mass Effect 2
General | Posted 16 years agoFor those that remeber I had gushed about the original. I want to point out that I have only just started playing this game as of monday. Needless to say I was waiting on pins and needles for this one. Mass Effect 2 is, without a doubt, an excellent game overall. Overall.....There are a few issues. The biggest being the graphics. There is so much clipping in this game it makes one wonder if they were really trying. I also wanted to point out the "film grain" option absolutely sucks harder than Deep space. The Visuals are fantastic and the frame rate is really good, but the clipping can really ruin some of the scenes. I mean it was rather dissapointing to watch Garm go to scratch himself and have his hand passing right through the side of his torso. The Game play itself is as good, if not better, than the Original game and the story is riveting to say the least. I love the new line up of Chars you get to recruit on your team and I loved the appearance of a few old faces to the game. New weapons, armor, and upgrades make for a customizable load out for each team member in your squad basically allowing you to fine tune your team to fit every possible scenerio you can get into. I miss the Mako though. That four legged shuttle is nice, but I wanna teart some shit up with heavy firepower!!! YEAH!! This one is definitely worth buying ^^
2010
General | Posted 16 years agoI just wanna say HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! And also.....Where the Fuck is my Jetpack? It's 2010! I want my personal jetpack..........
Avatar
General | Posted 16 years agoOk. So I took the Hubby to see the new Avatar movie last night. Just for shits and giggles we went to one of the 3D showings. We got the silly, yet functional glasses and sat back to enjoy the film. I will say this right now. If you haven't seen this in 3D? Shame on you. Most people may think the 3D is merely a gimmick like it was back in the 80's (who remembers those carboard glasses that were blue on one side and red on the other?), but it isn't/ The visuals almost have you believing you can reach out and touch them. The Movie itself was filled to the brim with 3D effects and lavish with intense scenery. The FX were spectacular and the action was pretty heavy. Unfortunaately, in my opinion, that is where it stops. The story was very cut and dry and way too easy to follow. It wasn't bad, don't get me wrong now. Several of the background characters, mainly Grace/Gracie, were just fillers and didn't really seem to belong there whatsoever. It seems that several items in the story were just over thought. I mean....did they really need the armored power suits? I would really have LOVED it if the Colonel and Jake faced off in their avatars. THAT would have really been an awesome final fight scene. At any rate this is an impressive film and certainly worth going to see.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING
General | Posted 16 years agoJust wanting to wish everyone a happy and healthy Thanksgiving this year. Now go load up on that turkey! ^_^
"V"
General | Posted 16 years agoJust got done watching the pilot episode. After having watched other remakes of Sci-Fi shows Such as BattleStar Gallactica and Outer Limits I can safely say I am really excited for V. I am already anxiously awaiting next weeks episode. Until then I have Flash Forward to look forward to on thursday!!!! ^^
Flashforward to Brutal legend
General | Posted 16 years agoAlright! Anyone who has not been following Flash Forward? Shame on you!!!! I have been riveted since the first episode! I love the stroy arc and adore the characters. It's Like CSI meet The Twilight Zone or something. I LOVE IT!!! I look forward to thursday night now ^^.
The Same goes for Brutal Legend. If you have not played this game yet? Go out and play it now. Great graphics and a great story along with some rather memorable chars? Awesomeness!!! It Has Jack Black in it! I mean....who doesn't love this guy? Of course there are some downsides to it too. The game tends to lag a bit at certain points (Think of all the Time Oblivion nearly froze up) and the side missions are always the same and lend nothing to the story in the main quest. Most of the enemies are repeatative and the story itself becomes very predictable at times. Still this is one of the few really good games ouyt there ATM. Pick it up and rock out ^^.

Hey all.
General | Posted 16 years agoJust letting everyone know I still alive and well. Everything is going as well as could be expected. The wedding went off without so much as a snag and the Honeymoon (spent in Texas ^__^) was great!! We got back and life resumed as normal. We'd been living together long enough that nothing really seemed to change other than it's all official now XD. The computer Problem is still a pain in my ass. Turns out the Laptop suffered a nasty spill and the network card may be 86'd completely and not really worth trying to fix. Planning on getting a new lappy sometime around spring due to money being just a tad tight right now so we are sort of renting a small netbook at the moment. Not something I prefer to do, but it is a stop gap method for now. ( I do have to admit I kind do find this tiny Laptop really neat though XD ) So I hope to be seeing a few of you around ^__^
Gonna be gone for awhile......
General | Posted 16 years agoI have decided to take an extended leave of abscense from the furry scene for.....whenever I feel like I want to come back. Finally going to be getting married soon and there is alot to do just with that in mind. Also have had lingering computer problems to match that. All this and I find myself just plain being bored with the fandom at the moment. i still love it, but I think i just really need some time away from it for now. I am sorry to all those I have upset or dissappointed with my sudden disappearance. Until I return? I wish you all well....
Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince
General | Posted 16 years agoWhat to say. One word that come to ming is Excellent. This is the best of the series by far and if you are a fan I am sure you will agree. The depth to which this movie goes really flushes out the depth of the story in the series as well as casts a darker side over many of the characters involved. Characters are greatly refined and brought to life in this installment and the stage is set for the final showdown between good and evil. I won't go into great detail so as not to spoil anything, but lets just say a budding relationship between two of the characters finally takes root and Snape finally shows his colors. Dracco tried to walk in his fathers shoes and show his true colors near the end. Potter learns his role in the matter goes well beyond what he had imagined it would. The acting was top notch and the FX were simply beautiful! There was more character development this time and not so much on just the flashy FX. All in all it was a rich Ballance of both and the film is really gonna stand out among the rest. I am already giddy for the next film ^^
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
General | Posted 16 years agoHmmm.....I get a bit of a mixed feeling with this one. First off I will say it was definitely everything I had expected it to be. The CG was seamless and the action was plenty. I was, however, just a bit disturbed at the amount of sexual themes used in the movie. I know Megan Fox is hot and all, but maybe have her look a little bit less.....slutty? The whole Dog humping thing? Yeah what was the point of that? It honestly revolved just a little too much around potty humor and that can turn a good movie into a bad one real quick. I loved the new Characters (SIDESWIPE WAS AWESOME!!!!) and the introduction to The Fallen was in no way what I had expected (Which is very good). The origins of the Transformers was revealed in a bit more detail though I do beleive there is more to come of that matter. DEVASTATOR GOTS GNARDS! I loved Alice (She is the Pretender who transforms from Human to Robot) And the way she was used and introduced. Arcee was a bit of a surprise though. I had not exxpected her to actually be three robots verses just one ( She IS all three of the motor cycles featured in the film of which only one survived ) LOVED THE TWINS!!! (Ice cream truck was the best!!!!) Many nods to the G1 Series (Mainly the Matrix of Leadership, The Fallen, and Megs beating on Starscream) As well as a few of the other TF universes. Soundwave's DR. Claw (from the Inspector Gadget cartoon) was a real treat and just seemed to fit so well. Much Humor and much much action. It is just so hard to really put the movie into the light it deserves. i just can't describ the experience other than to say you'll either Love it or Loathe it. Me? Imma go see it again!!!
Terminator: Salvation (The Game)
General | Posted 16 years agoI have only two words for this game. Don't Bother.
Reason:
I rented the game at 10:30 this morning. I had it beat, on the Hard Setting, by 5pm. And that included time to go shopping, do laundry, eat lunch, and clean our backyard! So short a Smurf would have to look down to see it. The Graphics were great. The Controls, The weapons, The "game exclusive" enemies? Yeah...fucking sucked. The Spider HKs basically walk right into your line of fire as if begging to be blown to scrap. The Aerostats float around in one spot like little butterflies and that is all you get for new enemies. The only other things you fight are Aerial HK, those motorcycle things and T-600s. None of them have an ounce of AI to them even on hard. It was more like shooting ducks in a row. For the guys at Evolved Games? You may wanna consider changing your company's name to Retarded Games or better yet? Close your doors for good and save the Gaming population the grief of your miserable existence.

So many Robots......so little time....
General | Posted 16 years agoI am, of course, speaking of the new Transformers 2 Movie! It has been confirmed that several Transformers WILL be in the movie. Among those I am waiting to see? THE FALLEN. Fallen is one of the original 13 created by Primus and the AllSPARK to defend Cybertron against Evil. The the Dreamwave comic series The War Within: Dark Ages it was revealed that The Fallen, His real name stricken from record, betrayed Primus after being seduced by the dark powers of the choas bringer UNICRON He was sealed away in another dimension where he was unable to do any real damage though he was later freed. I won't say too much as it may become spoiler material ^_^. I cannot wait!!!!!!!!!!!
Memorial Day 2009
General | Posted 16 years agoJust wishing all a safe and Happy Memorial Day. A day we, as a nation, have set aside to remember and honor those who have fought and those we lost for the ideals of our freedom both in wars past and in wars present. Many people taking this day to cherish what they have givien to them by those long since past or still with us this day. Also a good excuse to fire up the grills and BBq pits for a get together and an unwinding from times recent. So fire up the flames and grill the steaks. Beers and cheers all around to all you this fine day. ^_^
2009 Star Trek
General | Posted 16 years agoHmmm.....what to say? I went to go have lunch with my mother today for mother's day. Out of the blue she decided it would be nice to go see a movie. I figured i was gonna be stuck watching watching something like Ghost of girlfriends past or something. To me and my father's surprise and delight she wanted to see the new Star Trek film. I was giddy with anxiety from the trailers of the film and I was deeply curious about the way J.J Abrams had taked the franchise. What to say? One word. Amazing. The man has done what no man has done before. Take the franchise in an entirely new direction. This isn't Star Trek anymore. No...this is Star Trek Re-invented. I wish I could say everything I want to say, but that may well ruin the excitement for some so I will say this. YOU WILL NEVER LOOK AT JAMES T. KIRK AND THE CREW THE SAME WAY AGAIN! Believe you me....don't miss this film. The special effects were so good it blows every other Star Trek Movie completely away. The Enterprise was so beatuiful I almost wanted to cry! The Cast reprised the roles of the original crew in a hauntingly creepy way that will have you believing they were the original crew from the very begining!!! ^_^ A must see!
Happy Easter!!!!
General | Posted 16 years agoWishing everyone a happy and safe Easter! Don't eat too much chocolate ^_^
Bolt!!!!
General | Posted 16 years agoI just loved this movie. Finally rented the Blu-Ray version and it is by far one of the best Pixar has rolled out so far. Not better than Wall-E, but definitely better than Cars. I just loved Rhino. he was soooooo cute and just funny as hell! If you haven't seen this flick yet be sure to grab a copy and be ready for a few good laughs, some very memorable characters, and some great features. ^_^
Tomb Raider: Underworld
General | Posted 16 years agoFirst things first. I am not a huge fan of this franchise. I have played the games so I know where this is heading. The Game is visually stunning. Lush, highly detailed scenery and background. Lara, herself, has never looked better. The story, while very predictable, is entertaining and fits the title pretty well. That is where the beauty of this title stops and the ugly begins. The missions are typical and somewhat mundane. Like re-reading an open book you have re-read at least three or four times before. The Camera angle and control, like all Tomb Raider game, is still sucky and jumpy. The Controls are too sensitive. The enemies are too retarded (I.E piss poor AI) and easy to deal with. And, as usual, the game is far too short. Hands down Underworld is by far the best title in the franchise so far, but still only rates as a weekend renter in my books..........
Afro Samurai The game.
General | Posted 17 years agoAlright...Many of you may not know this, but I am a huge fan of Afro Samurai. Yes I am. And i just recently played through the game. Now don't get me wrong here, but if you aren't familiar with the anime series? DO NOT play this game. The game is not the worst I have seen, but leaves alot to be desired. it only half assed follows the original story and goes too far off the beaten path in some areas. Game play is good and the controls could be a bit better. Let's fix those camera angles and controls first though. narration is pretty good, but can lag behind a bit. The game has far more potential than it may seem. There are some slow frame rates and the bosses can be a little more difficult than they really should be. All in all it is an ok game. A renter rather than a buyer if you ask me.
Ok. The Fallen and the Title for the new TF movie?
General | Posted 17 years agoAnyone who knows about the Dream Wave comics series Transformers The War Within: Dark Ages will know EXACTLY who and what I am referring too. The Fallen was one of the thirteen original transformers created by Primus. Fallen betrayed his creator in favor of the dark powers offered him by Unicron and tried to sabotage the efforts of the other 12 to aid his new master in defeating Primus. The Fallen, as he came to be known, failed and was banished along side his dark master only to return when Optimus Prime and Megatron vanished in a Space Bridge explosion. The Fallen, seeking to make Unicron aware of where primus was hiding, then tried to re-awaken his creator to reveal his whereabouts to Unicron. He was thwarted and perished. The movie brings up a few questions in referance to who these Fallen are. Does it refer to defeated Decepticons getting their revenge? Or is The Fallen destined to find his way into the Micheal Bay Transformer Universe?
Friday the 13th and the Transformers 2 trailer
General | Posted 17 years agoOk. Here we go. Just got back from the late showing of the new Friday The 13th Movie. I will say this. Loved it. It picks up right after the original. Jason's mother gets beheaded, Jason sees it, killing ensues. This is not so much a re-make as it is the franchise being taken in a more tangible direction. Jason is no longer the unstoppable evil, slug monster thing in a corpse body portrayed in Jason Goes To Hell. Jason is back to his core. A deformed mongaloid roaming the shores of Crystal lake punishing/killing anyone who dares disturb his territiory. All the classic elements that made the first 3 movies classics come back into play as Jason deals out pain and death all through the woods. For you Voorhees lovers out there? Try not to miss this one. Also. The newest, and most revealing trailer, for Transformers 2 is out and it looks good. Yes. The Constructicons, and thus the 'real' Devastator, are in the new movie!!! Yay!
Friday The 13th
General | Posted 17 years agoNot talking about the day. Talking about the latest Jason Vorhees movies about to hack and slash it's way into theaters. As many may have guessed by now I am pretty big on the entire scale of the Horror genre. I grew up with famous creatures like Freddy Krueger (Nightmare on Elm street), Leather Face (Texas Chainsaw Massacre), Pin head (Hellraiser), Chucky (Child's Play) and the most evil of them all, Jason Vorhees (Friday The 13th) and I am giddy with excitement about the newest 13th movie. Micheal Bay, the man behind Transformers in 2007, once again struts his stuff ( And like it or not the guy IS good ) breathing new life into an old Fav in the latest incarnation to hit the 13th line up. I am really looking forward to seeing this movie both because I love Jason and I really like Micheal Bay!!!!
