I've been almost completely off grid for the past few weeks, and I'm sorry. The renovation of the dog boutique is all consuming, my one helper quit, and then I came down with walking pneumonia.

Also, Brio finally shipped out to his new home, only to arrive, lets just say, manhandled... :( He's missing teeth, has a busted lip, and a broken jaw.

But, on the up side, Cape Cod Creatures is all settled into the new studio at my house, and is 75% functional. It needs more lighting, and my electrician is looking into some solutions for me.

I have an owl blank for etsy waiting to be hinged tonight, and I'm going to be putting some more time in on the mantis. That's all for now :)

Mask Pros: Resin Base, Zipper, Hinged Articulated Jaw, Tear Duct Vision, Luxurious Fur, Foam Padding in the forehead and jaw, jawset and tongue (dvc), Adorable.

Mask Cons: Built on a Thin Base - be gentle, Resin eyes aren't perfect, bubbles at certain angles, fur sometimes gets in the way of zipper, tear ducts will not have chiffon, you'll have to install your own, but I can include some in the box.

I've had my 2" dome molds for like 5 seconds and have done, like, 4 pulls and they're ALREADY SCRATCHED. I'm going to try to make a silicone mold from a set of eyes that aren't blemished.... ugh. Wicked flipping stupid...

Dalha's getting a haircut today, but I'd like to leave some of the fur long, but styled. I was thinking a light weight hair wax? Anyone have experience in this arena? Thanks!

There are soooooooo many projects I want to do. Thank Goodness winter is here, because I finally have the time to get my creative ya-yas out.

So far my list includes:

1. White screech owl mask: blank ready for fur. I’ll do this after I finish up the owl blank I’m auctioning, which should be tomorrow at some point.

2. Eastern Coyote (aka coywolf): Blank almost ready for fur. Need ear foamies

3. Nina Tucker Chimera mask (and eventually suit): I will start sculpting this in a week or two. Maybe make a generic blank for bigger canines / bears?

4. Aging Golden Retriever: because they can’t stay young forever, but they sure as hell try. I Identify with them. A lot. I’ll be casting my trusty generic canine blank for this and start refining the features in the coming week or two. I am hoping to achieve something more realistic than the others I’ve seen out there.

5. My friend’s older Maine Coon cat / My cat / Cat Blanks: By the end of the month I hope to have a sculpt finished or at least well under way, but it won’t happen until the nina tucker sculpt is done.

I’m sure I’ll add to this, but it feels good to get projects enumerated and prioritized.

I made a video blog, because that's what you yutes enjoy these days. I'll put it on the blue tubes and maybe write a raps too... :D

Hey all, Just wanted to let you know I'll be offering owl blanks for sale on etsy soon (like this weekish).

That being said, I'll definitely be offering them cut and hinged with eye blanks, but I was also thinking about offering them with installed eyes and eyelids and painted beaks.

I'm beginning to understand why there aren't too many owl masks out there.... Human facial structure doesn't translate too well...

It's been decided. The owl blank will resemble a screech owl. Now, hopefully, I can quit dicking around with it and make some goddamn progress...

Well, it's been a few months in the making, but between running my business and managing life in general, I'm almost done with my first build. I originally intended this costume to be a Shistavanen, which it will be for a few conventions and my application to the dark empire, but several key components won't be ready for Halloween (including my sith saber-pike), so I am headed to the costume store tomorrow to see what I can hash together for a charity masquerade on Friday night, my town's fall festival on Saturday, and a day's worth of events on Halloween.

I'm thinking the following:

wolf mage (store bought robes & staff)
werewolf (old navy crappy clothing torn with patches of fur behind)
direwolf warg (store bought GoT whatevs)


Eventually I'd like to airbrush some detail on the mask and sculpt up the nose with apoxie-sculpt, but that will have to wait. I'm running out of time and my creative battery is critically low.
