PATREON START
Posted 7 years agohttps://www.patreon.com/Cyran
Hello! I'll put the life update below as usual!
Anyhow, I'm gonna start a patreon! (I made one a while back, but never actually used it)
So here's what I plan to do. Start small until I get back into the swing of things!
$1- simple, do it cause you wanna motivate me into doing art again. (You do, right? RIGHT?). As well as take part in discussions about pictures I should work on. Hoping these pictures would be 1 main with 2 alternate versions; of which ONE or maybe two versions might be Patreon only for a bit.
While I know this isn't the general method of trying to get patreons, I do feel like I should start tiny.
Once I get back into it, I'll increase the rewards. I will offer commissions time to time that aren't related to the Patreon for the moment, but as it goes further I'm pretty sure I will start giving preferential treatment to those who are Patrons.
I also plan on making a dropbox account of old WIP and never posted works for patron people to look at, maybe be inspired by how much difference my quality can range from and know YOU CAN DO THE THING TOO (and maybe even vote on a few to rework on and finish)
=============================================
ONTO THE RL STUFF
I know I keep thinking that I'd have more time to work on art. HEll, I moved in with friends with that goal in mind. Well, that sort of was a bust for the year. First, I had to work overtime, one because my boss kept making me do it and two, the new roommates demands for money were growing ever higher between raising the rent to ridiculous amounts for half a bedroom, buying their food and booze for a period of time. Also, timewise, there was the whole working overtime plus finishing college (which btw, I finally graduated so there's that! :D) and whenever I wasn't working or doing classes, the roommate's daughter was constantly wanting to play very bad roblox games (Sorry, you realize how annoying playing 'design games' on a bad engine for hours can get? Oh well, she's just a kid, but wish she had something else to do)
But, as of now I'm living on my own. So, there's literally no one to bother me. (I say living on my own in a weird way to say semi homeless. I decided I'd rather pay $40 for a storage unit and sleep in my car for a while until I figure out what I want to do. But worry not for all those who think it's a bad arrangement! It's not! The storage unit is set up like an office, has electric/ climate control and even Wifi so I can get on the computer during the day and overnight I can get on my laptop using my phone as a hotspot. Gym for showers. Really, a lot less stress in the weeks since I moved. Also, no longer needing to make car payments! So there's a lot good I think. Oh, and sleeping in the car is just fine, look at videos of people turning their Toyota Yaris into a bed and that's what I'm doing and it works great. I mean, an apartment would be preferential, but I'm not sure where I'm gonna stay soon so I'd rather not get tied into a lease nor do I wanna pay some of these ridiculously high prices. Seriously, studio apartments need to realize they're not a luxury unless they're loft apartments. costs the same to rent a studio that it does a 2 bedroom and right now I'm REALLY unsure I want roommates unless they're furs and porn friendly. Also, my ability to move across the country has increased so... if something comes up!
So to break this down, this move into the storage unit has only cost me $40 a month + the $20 for the gym so 60 a month vs the $600-850 a month I was spending with the other place. I mean, I'll miss the friends, but I'll also enjoy being a cheap ass! :D
Also, YAY GYM, working on losing that surgery weight I've put on... (and put off for too long) :oc

Cyran will be at MFF
Posted 8 years agoYep! And hopefully soon I'll be back to art.
I know I say that a lot. But classes this year were pretty punishing and I didn't expect my new 'part time job' to be '60+' hours a week D:

Update September 5th
Posted 8 years agoOkay, so this is a loaded one.
WORK RELATED
* For the last few weeks I've been working two jobs. I wanted to make sure I was officially hired before putting my two weeks notice at the former place, but the new place got the idea that I could work any hours around that so I've been putting in 40 hours at new place, 15-29 at old place. Now, this isn't THAT bad I guess, if it weren't for the daily drive back and forth which takes about 2 hours just for the drive a day as I've not had a single day off between driving to these jobs, moving my stuff and doing one final class.
*I do like the new job so far. A lot better pay (once I finally get paid, they said it might take a month to get my first paycheck... and for someone already struggling :/ that's another reason I've kept the other job, I needed the weekly paycheck to be able to pay my bills after family stole everything else out from under me. It also has some neat benefits such as FREE medical (not this take out every week's paycheck medical) and they have a point reward system based on productivity in which I could even redeem for a laptop after a few months; as well as PAid time off (20 hours worked is 1 hour paid time off) I'm not sure, but my first paycheck might be for a few thousand which will... kind of cover for the money my family stole/harassed me out of, except for the whole BEING SO RIDICULOUSLY BUSY

SCHOOL RELATED
It's just a spanish class, but 5 cred. I swear if they add another requirement after this, I AM a white boy after all... jk, I don't own any guns.
However, there is a bad thing; with driving between the two jobs, it's been making time tight. Another thing; I signed up for an in class lecture class. It ended up being hybrid which is false advertising. The reason this is a problem is they refused to refund me after the first class even though they should have, and they didn't like my reason being "because the class wasn't what it said it was" Which I think is 100% a good excuse; I can't shell out another $200 for an online course ALONGSIDE the in class materials. Which means I guess I gotta try, but I'm already so far behind because I can't afford the materials so all this stuff they're doing already, I'm nowhere at because of it. I also hate how the teacher treats me like a slacker because I don't do the online stuff yet.
MOVING RELATED
Most of my stuff is at the new place. The only things not are my desktop and some clothes. Next sunday will be my official move date (even if almost all my stuff is over there) Then I'm gonna clean/dust/unpack and organize. Probably get rid of more things. (I'm pretty sure I got rid of over half my belongings during the moves)
I -reaaaally- hope to get back into art soon. Just... hoping one more week.

Quick update on life and move
Posted 8 years agoIT took longer to get the job, however I finally got it (lots of computer errors) and I do not start for another 2-3 weeks due to my telling them I still need to give 2 weeks notice at my old job.
So moving real soon.
But, I'm still at that 'broke as shit' stage (yay family -_-) so don't need to really explain why I'm being drug through the poor house there.
BUT the new place I need to somehow get my desktop to have wifi access as there will be no hard wiring set up there.
I've seen some things that plug in USB for $20, but do those actually work or work well?

Art update and Moving!! (house, not gallery)
Posted 8 years agoWell, so, some news? I AM MOVING
The problem? before I moved I wanted to find a new job. That has yet to happen.
So I'm curious if I went to drawing near full time, how much interest would people have in seeing commission streams and what their thoughts are on Patreon?
Like for patreon, what type of rewards?
I hate the idea of paywalling for art, personally.
The place I'm moving too is VERY art friendly even nsfw art friendly. so... it might be the option I go to. Although I know I will need to seriously practice before turning into legit full time with art.

AC review
Posted 8 years agoIt went pretty well. There was some... minor setbacks that cost me quite a bit of money, but nobody's interested in that sort of drama I'm sure
Anyhow, I pulled $185 Saturday, $280 sunday (wtf, how'd I do that well Sunday on a discount day?)
Wasn't my best pull, but it was better than the 'our computers don't work so we can't get you a receipt pad' that happened last year.
The Zoo was great as usual. Got to talk and chat with Tiny dragon ( can't remember his FA right now)
Maneater
Ryoku7
Gravewalker
Shonuff44
LapinBeau
Mortis_kull
Goolashe
bluebane
dracoofzeradaith
Labbeh and a lot of people I will remember their names later

Question to all my viewers
Posted 8 years agoI'll leave all the negative stuff in a TL:DR segment after this.
However, the question is regard to commissions. If I got back into doing streams regularly, would people have interest in commissioning me more?
Would people be interested possibly in donating to a patreon? If so what sort of rewards would people be interested in seeing happen?
Or what would people in general be interested in seeing?
btw, almost done with all the $5 sketches.
============The TL:DR thing.==============================
Well it's no surprise to anyone who's followed me I deal with a lot of abusive and manipulative family shit. As of right now, I was trying to have a few thousand saved for AC. That happened. Then my brother and mother's car needed fixed. Despite them making more money than me, they were both bothering me to cover for it (My mother more violently so.) BUT they said they'd pay me back for it, in the mix of things of saying I have no responsibility so I should cover it.
Here's the thing that pisses me off about that. 1) They don't pay shit for me. 2) I already pay the cable, the electric, paid for the house, most of the food and as of recently my mother's cell phone bill which I still only use a cheap tracfone, but she started screaming and getting violent about how she deserves more. Luckily this plan isn't on my name but she has been hounding me over it. 3) they make more money than I do, so they have no reason other than they blow their money on frivolous shit.
==
Then the dog gets sick. I drop $300 on the vet bill. The order that happened; mom said that her and my brother have 'responsibility and lives' (really stupid argument. Honestly, it was just that I was available on monday) and I should take Flash (the dog) to the vet monday. I'm not even allowed an emotion of any response, just an okay less it gets aggressive. BUT she said she'd pay me back after work.
So, take dog to vet, find out he's very sick. Call mom, vet listens in on my mom tell me yes to everything, but that I was paying for it and then yelling at me why can't I and that I should and will, and when I said I don't have the money to pay for everything then got screamed at (with vet still listening in on speakerphone) that I need to make more money and stop blowing it. I agreed only at that point to a $150 blood test, but the bill came out to $300 for that day because of the medication (super expensive. I've never paid for medication for myself that costed half this), vet visit, and of course that blood test.
Queue later in the day I'm dealt with the whole family trying to guilt me and telling me what a horrible person I was for not spending the $200 to put flash in overnight IV treatment or the $150 radioscan(something) so they can tell exactly what it is. I'm already at such low funds I'm not even sure I'll make my car payment next month. But this kept happening.
========
Now the last aspect; I was supposed to have two weekends off this month. I haven't asked for time off since I started working here. Not that I care about the place too much as 'hostile environment' comes to mind. However, I was only working 23 hours a week with school. I said I could work more days/hours once classes were done. Instead he cuts the hours after giving me some speech about responsibility and that I need to be grateful for the opportunity and telling me that I wasn't being a man because one day I got sick at work and left early when there was no manager to okay my leave, but everything I needed to have done was done and the second is because he's got a friend that works under him and that he forces to work with me who's an asshole and completely incompetent, but he's always spinning stories about EVERYONE about how they're always fucking up, when usually it's him fucking up.
So mix in the cut hours, and then that he okayed the time off. Now, I got called in monday while I was at the vet with the dog, I go in after taking flash home, he tells me my time off is denied after accepting it because he just got invited to go on vacation and needs me to come in.
So. I am highly debating not going in. Thing is. I need to still make at least the car payments each month and I'm certain that
1) my family is not going to pay me back without suing them.
2) I'm going to get fired and can't be guaranteed when I'll get another job. Even if this one isn't paying me enough anymore now that he cut it for the dumbest of reasons.
3) How long am I going to stay here because this has been too many years and I gotta do something to break away from the abusive situation.
However, the question is regard to commissions. If I got back into doing streams regularly, would people have interest in commissioning me more?

$5 digital sketches - WILL BE AT ANTHROCON
Posted 8 years agoStarting to take commission requests for digital sketches.
Note me if interested. AS these are just digital sketches, I can't promise 100% each quality will be consistent but I will try.
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/23795809/ Some references.
1) Character name
2) Character reference/description (is the bodybuild different than a description? what sort of details make your character yours. Also, what is the typical characteristic that your character displays)
3) What sort of pose (Head, chest up, waist up, knee up, position) and what is the theme.
All payments to Dragames at netscape dot net
Tips and donations are greatly appreciated at this time; if you donate make sure to keep a record of it and I will use it towards commissions in the future from you.
PLease share with anyone you think would be interested :3
=======================================
Kind of in a bind, not so much a need. However, with AC just around the corner, I thought I had a few thousand saved for comfort. Queue my family's stupidity and making me responsible for their shit (yet again) and that few thousand is now a few hundred. So I'm trying to build some quick funds prior to AC to either use AT Anthrocon or to make sure I have money to pay -MY- bills when I get back. I am almost guaranteed not to see my money from my family ever again so I don't need to hear how stupid it was for me to pay for it.

Posted 8 years agoAlright, so as title says, I'm offering some badges.
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/23749773/ badge examples.
Now, the reason for the $15 is for practice with markers. I feel I need some more before Anthrocon.

Notes:
*The pictures I posted were just scanned. I do plan on cutting them to remove most of the white and lamenating.

*IF YOU'RE GOING TO ANTHROCON I can give it to you at AC. If not, I can try to have it mailed to you before AC, but that may cost a little extra (I can't remember how much shipping is.)

2) Character reference/description (is the bodybuild different than a description? what sort of details make your character yours. Also, what is the typical characteristic that your character displays)
3) What sort of badge (Head, chest up, waist up, knee up.) and what is the theme within the badge.
Notes:
*I can give a digital file if you want to print this off yourself rather than wait for me to send to you.
*Again, if I like the badge enough, I'll ask if I can use it as a reference during anthrocon.
*IF you are going to Anthrocon, I can give it to you there if that is okay rather than pay for shipping
END NOTES
* Even if there are (10 and 5 respectively) who ask for badges in the journals, if you submit a comment after (the 11th and 6th) post if I get time before AC I will message you and work on it. Also, if anyone posts beforehand and does not either get back to me about the piece or the info is too vague to start on, I will ask, and then skip over.
*I notice I've not been too active on art as of late, so I do need to get back into the swing of things. I'm hoping AC this year will return me to progress and productivity.
Tips and donations would be greatly appreciated. Paypal: Dragames at netscape dot net.

Now, the reason for the $15 is for practice with markers. I feel I need some more before Anthrocon.
MARKER BADGES
So, if you are planning on going to Anthrocon, and if you're interested, I will take up to 10 $25 badge traditional marker badges.
As the usual, I'll need
1) Character name
2) Character reference/description (is the bodybuild different than a description? what sort of details make your character yours. Also, what is the typical characteristic that your character displays)
3) What sort of badge (Head, chest up, waist up, knee up.) and what is the theme within the badge.
Notes:
*The pictures I posted were just scanned. I do plan on cutting them to remove most of the white and lamenating.
*If I like the badge enough, I'm hoping it'll be okay to print off a second so I can use it as an example of work.
*IF YOU'RE GOING TO ANTHROCON I can give it to you at AC. If not, I can try to have it mailed to you before AC, but that may cost a little extra (I can't remember how much shipping is.)
DIGITAL BADGES
Up to $40 for knee up full colored. Can cell shade or paint. Offering right now 5 which will run $25 up to $40 depending on the amount of detail asked for

STREAMING FOR A BIT
Posted 8 years ago2d or 3d animations?
Posted 8 years agoI've been debating on doing them, but which one should I start with first?
I think 3d is easier to make models of, but much longer to master things like having character faces express emotions, drawing in backgrounds and of course... the whole clothes thing
2d no matter what takes some work to draw each thing in.
So... Poll time!

Furry visual novels... I wish I could make them
Posted 8 years agoLike the topic says. I wish I did.
I just saw a great one; extracurricular activities. I've been wanting to do one for years but between 1) not knowing how to do it and 2) being more... concerned about what people think.
guh, it's great when it makes you realize what a lonely fuckhead you are XD GIVE ME SPENCER DAMMIT

Posted 9 years agoAgain, know it's short notice.
Just would need to know details or if in lieu of money, commissions or badges can be made for floor space :p

MFF hotel space?
Posted 9 years agoYes, very late to ask. If there is, could someone let me know if the cost they'd be willing to split for floor space or drawings in compensation?
AC con report!
Posted 9 years agoOkay, I'll do a good/bad thing before each thing so one can focus on what you want
The drive
Bad: 13 hours, and I didn't know I had cruise control until like... almost all the way there, my right foot was getting a bit pained from it. YAY I'm weak
Good: Was actually rather quiet and relaxing besides. Thank god my car's AC works like a boss and it's super gas efficient, I made it to there on ~$30 in gas.
Good: I saw lots of baby goats! at the gas station I went to there was a goat milk dairy truck with tons of cute goats and the two women drivers took them out 2 at a time (I think 8 were total) to let them walk around the field a little bit before switching them out.
Thursday in Pittsburg!
Bad: Unfortunately I was given directions to the wrong Wyndham hotel. Everyone in the University wyndham area were complete assholes. I asked the receptionist if there was a gateway parking lot nearby because that's what I was supposed to be parked in, they said there was no gateway parking lot (2 guys) and when I figured it wasn't the right wyndham because the room number I had been given didn't exist, I tried to ask them and other people if there were more than 1 wyndhams in the area (there's 3) and I got "I don't know" from a lot of people but the receptionists both claimed there were no other wyndhams. So then I remembered that the con is by the WEstin so I asked if they could tell me where the westin was and they told me there was no westin within an hour from there. I probably gave a sigh of complication and turned around and i heard one of them say "What's with the attitude?" and I'm just like, really? Up till that, I was nice, they were being assholes and I actually would have HAD a reason for attitude, yet they were the ones giving me it from the getgo. After being a bit frustrated further with trying to figure things out by texting people..
Good: A lady comes by, sees me opening my trunk and some of the art stuff and suitcases she asks "ARe you one of those furries?" and I said yeah, she said "My son and his boyfriend are at the con now, I'm dropping off their costumes. If you want, you can follow me down there." So, one nice person and I finally made it to the con area of pittsburg :D
Bad unfortunately way too late, as it had just turned 10:00 so I couldn't get my badge early.
Good: So instead I just went sight seeing which I had planned to do earlier if I hadn't been wasting 3 hours trying to figure out where I was. Damn not having an internet phone :p It was pretty cool. Got to meet
soba and later
azureparagon and also met up with
Mortis_kull
Friday!
Bad because of what happened thursday I had to wait in line for a badge, but it seemed they had very little idea of what to do some of the times and computer errors and them sending me to the wrong lines and pronouncing "Cyran"(Sigh- ran) as "cran" (like CRAN berries) made it a few hours of really hot torture and by the time I could get to the artist alley for the wait list, it was already really long. So no table for friday.
Good! Went to a restaurant with some friends from KC who arrived by plane called Wingharts. $8 hamburger, but holy fuck was it good. Filling too so it wasn't TOO expensive for the comparison. Did more sight seeing, bought 2 commissions. One from
Gnaw and the other artist I can't remember her FA name.
However since we can't do commissions in the zoo, I was just working on some art for self and then did some freebie art. Hung out more with
Mortis_kull and got to meet
BGN in the flesh for the first time. I showed off a sculpture of Brahm (I need to take better pictures of) with a big shiny poser trunk bulge >:3c lots of people liked it.
Saturday!
Bad I waited the whole day for a table at AC, I was in the waiting list from the early day, I kept checking with them since there were tons of empty tables. PArt of what they were doing this year was texting people when their 'table' was ready. I kept asking about the empty tables ans they kept saying that the people who were next in line were coming to claim them. Almost a whole row of tables went unclaimed for most of the day. I finally received the text that said my table was ready... at 5:15 (I still have the text if I can figure out how to scan/send screencaps or some shit to here I would) which is already after it closed. so that's 2 days of no commission stuffs :< Whatever system they're using for this con reservation is NOT working and needs to be changed. I'm tempted to write the con staff over it as this wasn't happening to just me.
Good so I bought some comics from
furious and
karmakat . Did even more sight seeing, got to talking to an amazing digital artist [iconuser:dragonnis] who everyone should go commission now. Also very helpful. I got to meet BRIEFLY
drekhan
Sabrewing
croup
damaratus and also got to see
draganta who I've not spoken to in 6 years :oc nostaaalgia.
So more hanging out in the zoo after hours, more drawings for self, more free drawings for some other people.
SUNDAY!!
Bad It was coming to an end T-T also I had to pay the parking fee...BAH I hate spending money on things like that.
good I made $165 for only a few hours of work once I finally managed to get a table ( I was not among the first for a table) and for it being about 3 hours I think that's damned fantastic. I also got to meet
Atung231 who I loved his characters for a long time and despite not having business cards a LOT of people adding my FA to their watchlist (lots of people writing it down, I check my inbox for how much my watched by list went up over 50 in one day so yay \o/ Did some more drawing in the zoo, a few free sketches for other people, went to dinner at a chinese buffet with
Soba which was delicious. Although I wish I had more friend that would have done the whole gay as fuck CUDDLE ME thing :p I was pretty untouched this con, then again I didn't really know anyone on a more personal level this con.
Monday.
Bad it's over :<
Good Two of the people who went to AC by plane that live in KC like me were supposed to leave sunday morning, but they didn't want to so they asked if I'd drive them back. Great! So they cancelled their tickets, managed to fit all of our stuff in a YARIS (it's larger on the inside than it looks on the outside) and Erin (one of my friends from KC before her involvement into furry that was NOT forced on by me, but by her bf) managed to move the stuff in the back to make a nest to sleep/read in for nearly 8 hours of the trip. Spoke to her Bf for a good while during the trip back and it made the time fly. The gas going back was a bit higher (~$45), but I equate that to all the going uphill we had to do and the SLIGHTLY bit extra weight the car had to pull with them and their stuff. I finally ate at white castle after so many years because the last time I remembered it tasting like death when I was 6 years old and since then all the white castles in KC were moved. they weren't as bad as I remembered, but not GREAt either. but hey, experiences!
Overall Good I'm feeling a lot more motivated to try some things again.
