An artist I know in person expressed an interest in online art clients and draws a lot of animals anyhow, so I directed her to FA. :) Go check out
wildvagabond because her watercolor and gouache work is really neat, and she'll be offering commissions soon!
Commissions are currently: CLOSED.
Work is not done on a commission until AFTER payment is received! Queue spots are only set in stone when payment is received, be it full payment or some form of deposit. Unpaid slots can be added to the queue, but when they are paid jump above any other unpaid slots.

So kuroseishin has begun a Patreon for a short film they are working on animating, and you should check it out! Their animation is seriously so smooth and cute, and by chipping in you are directly enabling them to work in a medium they love. :)

As those who happen to follow me on Twitter are aware, my partner and I have been in the process of moving, I've been having some computer troubles, working on a weekly-updating webcomic, and I acquired an additional part-time job as a barista at a local coffee shop! So things are kind of hectic right now. (But moving in the right direction! These new pursuits are definitely helping with my anxiety and depression.)
Just wanted to let everyone know that if you are recorded as paid for something on my queue ( http://anyarose.net/queue.html ) it will get done as soon as I am able to tackle it. I apologize for the additional wait times on pieces as of late, but now that I have a second partial source of income, once the move is over, I am looking forward to really buckling down and clearing out my entire queue, and then only accepting a couple commissions at a time in the future to keep things running more smoothly.
If you are on my queue and have a hard deadline for a piece that I was unaware of, please contact me and let me know asap. Thank you for your patience, you're all awesome. <3
Commissions are currently: CLOSED. (Though feel free to contact for quotes etc.)

As you may be gathering from the flood of Anthrocon artwork, I'm back! My partner and I arrived home late last night from our voyages in Pennsylvania. I shall be working to get back on top of things asap - my apologies for delays related to the convention and the trip. I am still down a computer, so streaming will not resume for a bit yet.
Many thank yous to everyone who commissioned me at Anthrocon, every wonderful person we got to see and spend time with, and to all my commissioners unrelated to AC goings-ons for your patience! My queue is now currently up-to-date.
In addition, unrelated reminder that I still have an online garage sale of fursuit related items up for grabs.

Art's all set, packing's all done. I guess I'll nap a couple hours, then get on the road to Anthrocon. Come see me in theArtist Alley Dealer's Den table M06, and more of my art in the art show! :) I'll be out of state until the 19th, for AC and then some lingering in the area to visit my partner's family and some friends we haven't seen in ages.
Many many thank yous to my normal commission queue for your patience, the monster that is convention preparation took over my time as of late. You all rock. <3 I'm bringing a tablet to get digital work done the week after the con, but I won't be streaming at all until after we get home. Things'll resume normality on Monday the 20th.
If you're coming to Anthrocon - see you soon!

As you may have seen earlier if you follow me on twitter, my webcomic is now live! http://www.tedthedemon.com/ (Though if you have visited the domain before, due to a hosting switch, you may need to flush your dns cache to see the proper page. That or wait 24 hours and try again.)
This sure is a thing I've begun and I have committed myself to updating it once each week (on Thursdays). I said much earlier this year that I wanted to make changes in my life and work - and this will be part of it! I'm very excited to be trying out webcomics as a medium.
In addition to working on launching that site, I've begun preparations for Anthrocon. I got waitlisted for the Dealer's den this year and sadly did not get a booth there, but have instead secured table space in the Artist Alley for all three days of the convention. In addition, I'll have artwork in the general section of the art show, as well as the Butt Panel in the mature section - a collaboration between FeatherCritter and myself, just like last year! There will be nine traditional media punny butt paintings available for purchase, four of which are brand new butts created just for this year's AC.
My commission work flow and stream frequency has been down on account of these things, and in addition, yesterday the fans on one of my two tablets died. D: It's the one I draw on, but thankfully having two meant I had a backup. I am now using what was previously my reference tablet as my main art tablet - I put Photoshop and SAI on it and it's running fine for my current purposes. Given how tiny my screen real estate is, however, I won't be able to stream until I get the other tablet back online. I've ordered replacement fans, and according to Newegg, I should get them in five days or so - so see you guys in stream after then! Once my Anthrocon preparations are complete, I'll be multitasking a lot less and more hours each day will focus solely on commissions. Thank you for you patience everyone, you're all fantastic. ♥
One more random note - we're moving in September, so I've been measuring and photographing a bunch of faux fur fabric and other fursuit materials I'd like to sell rather than take with us to the new apartment. I'll get them put up as an online garage sale of sorts soon.

I've started well and truly drawing my webcomic, Ted the Demon. It will eventually live at tedthedemon.com but in the mean time, feel free to stalk @TedtheDemon on twitter for updates! A large chunk of the script is written, and I've been cleaning up the first several pages here and there between working on commissions.
In commission news, the Graceland Cemetery group piece is coming along. My stream schedule will remain erratic for the time being, but when I do stream, it will frequently involve working on this as well as pieces from my standard queue. :)

So a few months ago you may recall me deliberating whether or not I should stay freelance, since I was about to turn 26 and would no longer have health care. Well, age out of coverage I did, but I was too much of a frightened weenie to dig in and take care of it quickly. Finally this week, with tax due date looming and having been uninsured for a month, I wound up spending a huge chunk of time figuring things out. After doing the math, I figured out I could not legally do what I'm doing and survive - ie, with how my income averages out, I could not afford my basic living expenses (rent, student loans, credit card payments, my cat's vet payments, phone bill, etc etc), my quarterly tax estimates, and health insurance. It would be doable without student loans, but with them I literally cannot balance these New Legitimate!Adult Costs into the mix. I now have paid my taxes for this quarter, but it was an ordeal.
Tl;dr if I want to remain freelance, I'm going to have to raise my prices a little more. At first I thought I'd have to go all the way to $24/hour, but redoing the math, I think $22/hour should be sustainable. (Every 8 hours of concentrated work for me usually winds up being 5 hours of timed, paid hours, on average - and you wouldn't believe what a chunk self-employment taxes take out. Basically this is the rate I need to charge to be able to keep what I was keeping before to tackle my bills with.) So that's what I'll be. If people wind up not wanting/able to pay it, only time will tell, and I'll get a different job if it comes to that. I'll properly reopen my commissions next week, and that'll be the new rate.
Also, my apologies for being a little slow and streaming less - should get myself back on track in the very near future. Thanks for being awesome, all. ♥

I've finished writing up my new Terms of Service, click here to check it out. It's very similar to my old terms of service, it just specifies more.
For the ramble about what I'm changing about my work flow and why, click here. And because pretty much everyone who has commented on that journal has asked/expressed concern: don't worry, most of you never personally contributed stress, and those who did, did so unintentionally! It was just organizational fail on my part, and accepting circumstances that didn't work for me personally. You're all fantastic and I appreciate you so much. <3 I've been wanting to change things for a long time and was working toward doing so, but couldn't figure out what exactly to change and why, and kept feeling very trapped. I think this may finally be the answer.
The tl;dr version of what's changing: I'm not writing formal stream schedules anymore, just working from a queue. I'll still stream, but just whenever I desire to do so.
Where my schedule used to be, I'll keep an updated Currently Anticipated Work Queue, where I indicate the most immediate projects I plan to tackle. It will generally just represent stages of the commissions whose payments I keep track of right below that.
That's literally it. That's all I'm changing. It should help me get work done faster and I'll feel better in the long run, too. :)

For the first couple of years that I supported myself as a freelance artist, I had no concrete schedule. I worked whenever I could work and I streamed whenever I desired to do so with an audience, or when I needed the interactive element to rustle up some additional commissions. As an extrovert, streaming has appealed to me from the very beginning; talking to people from literally all over the globe while I drew proved fascinating and promoted a certain degree of focus for me.
Over the second couple of years... I began reshaping my work flow to better accommodate the needs of others, both to juggle my schedule with in-person commitments and to provide commissioners with concrete time slots to watch the art created live. This rapidly got out of hand, as I found myself tetrising together absurdly complicated schedules for each week, stressing out over how to fit which piece or ongoing project where to maximize the number of people whose wishes I could grant. When any given day didn't quite work out according to plan, I faced additional stress, guilt, and self-loathing, and would stay up late trying to meet my own expectations, inevitably screwing up the schedule for the day to follow in the process, and repeating the cycle. Art got done but I was an anxious mess. I also experienced a huge amount of artistic whiplash, as rather than working on one project several days in a row and seeing it to completion, my schedule had me poking at bits and pieces of a great many works, which simply did not feel right for me in the vast majority of cases. Starting/stopping work on a particular painting or illustration kills my momentum. In some cases it's good to have a few things going on at once, to be able to set one aside for a day or two, and return to look at it with fresh eyes that are more likely to catch mistakes. The degree I was working with was unhealthy, though, not coming back to given projects for a full week because I had six other things to clock obligatory hours on. In some cases I had commissioners who insisted on me starting and stopping literally dozens of different concept sketches in a single stream session, which was truly madness inducing. I'd just start to get a handle on one, only to be torn away and have to start over and mentally refocus. For the past few weeks I've tried out simplifying this - simply scheduling stream days or offline days with unspecified start times, with the exception of a few ongoing projects. It helped reduce some stress, but not nearly enough, and I've mangled my sleeping schedule. I think I need to do away with stream schedules altogether (but not streaming altogether! fear not, read on).
Awhile back I know I wrote about trying to find a "real" studio job in the face of turning 26 and having to deal with my own health insurance now and other such scary subjects, and I will casually still be looking for that, but I'm willing to remain a freelance artist as well... so long as I can do so on my terms. Not the commissioners'. I will draw/paint/animate whatever you hire me to draw/paint/animate, but I will do so on my terms. I will also try to start dedicating some time to working on my own web comic project, and intend to set up a Patreon for that in the near future. I just can't carry on like I have been. I've barely scraped out enough to survive over the past four years and making that little overall while feeling so anxious hasn't been worth it. On multiple occasions, in a fit of panic, I've seriously considered acquiring a "normal" job just to escape, like food industry, retail, or maid stuff. I even applied to a couple. Considering everything I gave up to pursue art, there's something seriously wrong when flipping burgers seems more appealing - to a vegetarian with a self-admitted compulsion to draw every day anyway - than drawing for other people does.
Please don't misread me: I appreciate all the commission work I've received over the past four years so, so much. All my customers have enabled me to make a living out of art, and devoting myself to it full-time like that has improved the quality of said art much faster than school or anything else ever managed to. I'm extremely grateful, and a lot of you have been fantastic to work with. A lot of the stress and mess is self-inflicted - I should never have given up so much control over my own life in the first place. I'd love to keep working for you all, but in order to do that, I'm going to have to go about it differently. I'm not even sure if this will be the 'correct' different right away, I may have to experiment and figure out what works.
Here's how it needs to go:
I'll have an anticipated work queue, but no specific stream schedule.
Ongoing work/larger projects will be broken down into the queue, which I'll update frequently to reflect my current expectations. No more amorphous ongoing projects of having me draw whatever will be allowed. Piece-based commissions only - one drawing at a time, one painting at a time, one storyboard/animatic at a time, whatever the case may be. If you have one project going with me, I will not work on another until that first/current item is done.
I will send commissioners work-in-progress files of their pieces as they progress, to allow them to request changes and the like. I will not schedule specific stream days for commissioners. I will still stream, but at my own discretion. Do not harass me to stream. Part of why I generated that insanely detailed schedule to begin with was to keep people from sending tweets/shouts/IMs/notes/etc demanding that I stream or pestering me about when I would stream next. Instead of deflecting these things, it made me feel guilty and over-complicate matters. I will no longer allow myself to be bullied into streaming. If you commission me, your money pays for my artwork creation time, but you are not entitled to a show. I am a visual artist, not an entertainer... though curiously enough, the people yelling at me to stream in the past often weren't even current customers, just people who wanted to watch. I'm glad if you enjoy my digital company or watching me make art, but when people did this, it stressed me out. A lot. I enjoy streaming but on my own terms. If I'm streaming at a very specific time for a very specific audience in the future, it may be as a patreon reward or something. I'll consider it. But in general, right now, no. You may happen to catch your piece being worked on live, and if I intend to work on particular pieces in a particular stream I may say so in the posts announcing said stream, but I want to remove myself from obligations to do so, for my own sanity. Please respect this. If this doesn't work for you as a commissioner, feel free to cease commissioning me.
My office hours will be roughly 10 AM - 6 PM EST, Monday through Friday. It may take some adjustment to get my sleep schedule to match this, but I want something reasonable and consistent, and achieving that is a priority for me. My work time may start earlier or extend later, but those will be my core hours to draw/paint/reply to emails/manage anything related to my business.
One of my main goals as an artist and a person has always been to bring joy to others. I was very anxious to continue to make changes to how I work, since I feared upsetting anyone, but my own happiness and well-being needs to be addressed to in order to continue making art. I've literally thought I was having a heart attack three times now due to sheer levels of anxiety (they were just, of course, anxiety attacks, but with very physical repercussions, and it was terrifying). Once I blamed it on taking Claritin-D, which may have exacerbated things, but then I refused to take any such decongestant again and experienced two more, so... Chinny confirmed for having developed issues with anxiety. I don't know if the root cause is absolutely my work, but I know that how I currently manage (or rather, mismanage) it does trigger a great deal of anxiety. As many of you know, I was also diagnosed with carpal tunnel last year, and lengthy streams often resulted in me forgetting to take breaks, despite pain and numbness in my hands. So please, respect how I need to run things to both complete artwork and avoid disastrous burn-out. I will be writing up a much-needed update to my terms of service as well to reflect all this information.
Thank you so much for supporting me and my artwork for the years. I hope to be able to continue making art freelance for many years to come. ♥

First off, don't worry, I'm not personally leaving FA. I've been here for nine years so, force of habit I suppose. I know a lot of you are however, which is a-okay, but I don't want to lose you as viewers! So I figured this was the time to reinforce my other online presences.
My Art Blog (Tumblr): Updated fairly regularly, and with WIPs and doodles that don't even make it to FA in any case!
My Twitter: I tweet a lot of art and WIPs of art here, amid other random things.
My Weasyl: This is two years out of date in terms of the age of the last artwork uploaded, but someday I will try to catch it up to my FA gallery. I really will. I promise. XD
As an unrelated reminder, those who victoriously bid on Dresden YCH slots and have yet to pay and send me character information, please take care of that soon as you can! I have been getting the conversion of the poses into the won characters underway, but if I don't have your information or your payment, can't proceed with you.

Hey all - sadly, I am going to have to cancel dealing at ANE 2015, as my partner Jonneh has come down with a fever of 102.8 and I am not feeling the greatest myself; rather than bring sick to a convention, I am going to stay home and take care of him. :( Really sad, as I had finally hyped myself up to look forward to attending, but after much deliberation, I think it's the responsible thing to do.
However, this means I need to find room space for the friend who was going to stay with us ( admiralstiggy ) who I can vouch for is excellent) so if you or anyone you know could squeeze in one wayward, friendly fur, please let me know asap! Thank you!! Stiggs has been successfully roomed; many thanks! <3

Get hype! I will try to see about getting the YCH for the next group picture cleaned up enough to post today. I just tweeted a rough preview of it. (Also, if you don't follow my twitter, I post my highest concentration of WIPs and random scribbles there, by the way, if you like seeing that sort of thing.)
Going to try doing it as a giant painted comic page, since I think that will be the most dynamic! There will be slots for 20 characters. After composing it, I think the cheapest slots will start at $30 and the most expensive at $60 - though we'll see where bidding winds up nudging things! I'll be curious to see what roles/poses get fought over, if any.

And the winner is... Graceland Cemetery Fight! Thanks for voting, everyone.
Since I'm doing this one as a YCH, I'll be composing it first and then auctioning off slots - hopefully by early next week! The slots will vary with starting prices from $45-$65, depending on their position in the image. Keep an eye out!

As promised to my stream, I am going to put the theme of the next group painting I create to a vote!
Previous group paintings, from oldest to most recent:
Battlestar Furs
Chakat Picnic
Tavern Brawl
Train Group
This next one I'm going to tackle a little differently - rather than simply taking slots then composing the piece after securing sufficient participants, I will first sketch whatever theme wins as a giant YCH, and then you can bid to secure the position in the image that you would prefer! All species and genders, bipedals and taurs alike, will be welcome, and the poses will ultimately be flexible.
Themes up for vote:
A) Graceland Cemetery Fight
This theme will be set in the Dresden Files universe, and will involve a fantasy battle set in Chicago's Graceland Cemetery. Think vampires, werewolves, wizards, zombies, fae - tombstones breaking under the impact of flung characters, casted fire, characters transforming into bat-like demons, and fighting with glowing holy swords.
B) Red Alert Bridge
This theme will be set in the Star Trek universe, featuring a starship bridge during a battle with the borg. Some characters may be already assimilated, beaming onto deck as a boarding party. Laser fire, perhaps some grappling with a bat'leth, some officers at their stations and others being tumbled about, a captain shouting orders.
C) Day at the Arcade
This will be set in an arcade! DDR machines, pinball machines, air hockey, shooters, laser tag - characters will be amid an array of glowing merriment, playing various games and goofing off. Open to additional suggestions if this theme wins.
How to vote: reply to this journal with your first and second choices. First choice votes will be given more weight than second choice votes, but my goal here is to see how many people would legitimately be interested in participating in each theme. So for example, if the Red Alert Bridge has you the most excited but you'd also likely be interested in participating in the Cemetery fight, reply with "First choice B, second choice A". If you're only really interested in one idea, then you do not have to pick a second choice.
YCH slots in whatever piece wins will likely start at $45-$75, depending on the pose and their position in the image. Each character will receive a minimum of three hours of detailing attention regardless of position (high cost positions will be the ones I think I will wind up spending 4-5 hours on), this will be just as polished an effort as the more recent Tavern and Train group pieces. But don't worry about the details of that as much until the theme is chosen: if you think you might want to participate, cast your vote!
I'll leave the vote open until Midnight on Friday the 6th, EST.
Commissions are currently: Open, but approximately 1.5 week queue. May close soon; if anyone has desire for valentine's day deadline commissions, please get them in asap!
Other than in stream or when prior arrangement is made, work is not done on a commission until AFTER payment is received! Queue spots are only set in stone when payment is received, be it full payment or some form of deposit. Unpaid slots can be added to the queue, but when they are paid jump above any other unpaid slots.

Head's up that I am currently staying in a cabin in the woods with some friends as a New Year's celebration - I have Internet via my phone, and I do have my tablets with me to potentially poke at a little work, but I will not resume normal streaming et cetera until Monday January 5th. :) Hope you all have had excellent holidays, and wishing you the best and brightest new year possible!
Commissions are currently: Closed for new big things; open for little things (headshots, icons, speedpaints under 3 hours).

As you may have gathered from my posts, I am home again from Furpocalypse. As such, I am now truly done with conventions and travel for the remainder of 2014. (I am however beginning to contemplate conventions for 2015 - currently considering Anthro New England, and maybe Furthemore. Opinions welcome on where you'd like my art and I going!)
It was lovely to see everyone at the convention, so thank you to all who stopped by to say hello, and double thank you if you bought or commissioned anything! The two take-home commissions I acquired have been added on to my standard art queue and shall be tackled this week as per my fresh schedule, which has now been updated.
Commissions are currently: Partially Open, contact for quotes etc.

Queue spots are only set in stone when payment is received, be it full payment or some form of deposit. Yo! So it occurred to me that now may be a great time of year to finally find the puppy fursuit that's been sitting in my closet a home.
It's been up on my Storenvy, but special for the season, if someone would be willing to pay $350 for it, I'll take it down and sell it to you for that rate instead - you get an adorable partial fursuit and save $100! If it gets no takers for this offer, it'll just keep sitting on my Storenvy as listed and thus in my closet. Poor pup.
Fursuit includes a head, hand paws, and tail. Visibility out of almost entire eye area (buckram). Eyes are inset for a slight "following" effect. Moving jaw. Nose squeaks when squeezed. Fur very soft to the touch. Head will fit up to a 23" circumference. Hand paws are glove style, medium, and arms extend up past the elbow when worn. Tail attaches via belt loop. Suit has only been worn a handful of times by me, very briefly. He/she/etc is lonely and just wants a home.
If you are going to Furpocalypse this weekend, I can deliver it to you in person! If you are not and just want it for Halloween, if you decide to purchase it by tomorrow I can ship it, but you will have to pay shipping costs. If you wanted to also commission a last minute conbadge painted in acrylic to match the suit, you can do so for another $50. :)
Signal boost it if you like, it's appreciated! If you are interested in purchasing the suit, contact me at redtavern[at]gmail.com to claim it.

Just wanted to note that I shall be dealering my art wares at Furpocalypse! I'll have prints, a few originals, Dat Ass cards, and various other knickknacks for sale. Who all among you will be attending?
If anyone wants to pre-order anything for pick up at the con (traditional media badges, traditional sketches or ink pieces, etc) feel free to poke me an email at redtavern[at]gmail.com and I can squeeze that in for you next week. :) Doing so means guaranteed custom original work for you at the convention without the wait.
Speaking of waits, I have three items yet to mail out - you know who you are. I am the slowest at shipping. I shall be finally taking care of those soon, thank you for your patience! <3
In general news, I've been streaming less on account of an awkward amount of anxiety and depression that's been plaguing me as of late - I've found it's been better for my mental health to get out of my apartment and work at a local coffee shop for a change of scenery. I often tweet work-in-progress shots of things on my twitter and fresh reminder that I also have an art-centric tumblr which continues to be a mix of new and old work. I know you guys enjoy streams and I do also enjoy hanging out with all of you, but streaming 2 or 3 times a week for now rather than 5 or 6 has definitely helped give me the headspace I need while still getting good work done. In some cases it's resulting in even better work, because I feel like I have more time to pause and think about color choices/composition/anatomy/etc rather than constantly just hammering straight through my work. I may resume streaming with more frequency once I've worked through some things personally. Thanks for understanding, and as ever, many thanks to everyone who commissions me for your patronage, I appreciate it so much.
Commissions are currently: Open (will be closing mid next week to prep for FP)
