So if you are reading this an unaware of things that bother me this past year has pissed me off. I am pretty much a live and let live kind of person. There is one social justice cause that gets under my skin and makes is crawl like nothing else. I was circumcised as an infant against my will like so many in my country, and I fall within the group of people that responded to the discovery of this in a way that psychologically resembles what happens to a person after getting sexually assaulted, it took over 10 years from finding out for me to start finding acceptance. I won't go into the whole process it was mostly a personal one. It was around this time that my parents started sending me to a child psychologist for irrational behavior and I did talk with her on the subject. However I will say that it has effected me on an emotional level and I take the opportunity to spread awareness where I can, and have been blessed with being informed that I have prevented this fate to a handful of others. This is the reason none of my personal characters are circumcised, and why I have a habit of instantly hitting like on any picture with a guy that appears intact. While I have voiced my concerns over routine infant circumcision of males I was pleased with knowing that it was a fate that was not shared with the females around me because they had legal protections making it a federal crime.

Last November I found out that it was discovered that there was a doctor in Michigan that was discovered to be performing female genital mutilations on young girls in opposition to 18 US Code § 116, and she was being tried in federal court with a possibility of being put behind bars for a long time. While I was saddened for those girls that had been maimed in such a fashion in such a personal area, I was looking forward to justice being served. The doctor defended her actions as freedom of religion, this did not work because laws are to be made without respect to religion and since the law specifically stated that no religion would be targeted or exempt it was good.

Well things took a turn for the worse last month when the case was dismissed. No jail time. No fine. No apology. I was furious, and to some regard I still am. I will say that one of the things, on a short list, that I have going for me is with anger comes a deep seated need for understanding. I took the time to not only find but read the very dry court opinion from the judge that dismissed the case. Turns out that there is a precedent stipulating that federal law can only cover criminal law in situations where commerce is involved. The appeal to a higher court was rejected, meaning that the case is dead in the water and FGM has been effectively de-criminalized. Much like pot in most places it is still illegal by the books but no one is going to enforce it. With the only course of action left, per the judge, if for the individual states to start passing their own bills to outlaw the practice.

This has hit me deep, and filled me with sadness. While not a female myself I have been touched by this atrocity. The part that makes it worse, at least to me, is the deafening silence that there has been. I know people that are very vocal feminists that I have taken the time to forward everything that I have found to them and they are silent. I keep looking for someone to share my horror and have been trying to find someone in a place that is able to do something anything and I have not even gotten back a form e-mail with a "thank you for your interest in this matter". I am pissed. I am sad. FUCK FGM. FUCK all genital cutting.

You know what I am really fed up with this talk of "shaming" all the time. There is always going to be someone out there that finds something about you not likeable. Doesn't mean they are going to not like you as a whole. Also doesn't mean the issue is with them.

People do not need to be okay with you being gay.

People do not need to be okay with you being heavy.

People do not need to be okay with you being sexually promiscuous.

People do not need to be okay with you being whatever, YOU DO. I am happy with being straight(ish), I am happy being a nudist, I am happy speaking out against genital cutting, I am happy with being opinionated. The people around me not so much, but that doesn't matter they still accept me because I accept me first.

So stop telling those around you to accept you and work on you accepting you. Change what you can, accept what you can't and discover the wisdom to tell the difference.

So for my birthday I got a 3d sculpting program and I am currently learning how to sculpt characters so that I can make 3D printed figures of people's sonas and I lack a character sheet laid out so that I can learn from. I just need the first three planes. This is because while I am learning the program I really need a picture that leaves little thinking for design and more offers a challenging shape for me to build off of to learn the navigation. If you allow me to do this I will be more then willing to give screen caps and a copy of the file ready to print plus a few places where you can get it printed off. I currently don't have a printer but I am looking to get one down the road.

So it is 3 am has been my birthday for a grand total of 3 hours. I like my birthday is the one day of the year I don't worry about how I should act and just be, selfish I know but I work retail a job that basically revolves around lying about your mood or what you really think.

Well this is what I think right now. If you can't bring up enough time, energy, or care to do more than once a year put happy birthday on someone's Facebook wall then I suggest skipping the birthday wishes. Don't get me wrong I enjoy the idea that these people that said we would be friends forever (actual statements) think of me from time to time, but tell me I should wait for them then remove any form of contact other then Facebook, steam Skype phone email, that can post page after page after page about getting ready for a 3 hour drive just put a grand total of "happy birthday" thought into this does nothing but make me want to curl up in a dark corner and disappear. Yeah I know I did the unforgivable to these people I remember things and I analyze constantly Honestly this is why I moved to the other side of the state, and why I work so hard to not have to move back, everything I like doing reminded me of these people. From eating at my favorite place to taking my nightly walk. I was this person before I will continue to be this person you didn't grow up nor did we grow apart. These people know how I think that I correlate everything so their name showing up does nothing but bring back the pain.

Another year still here, happy birthday me

Well I was having a goodish month. Finally got my job situated so that I was bringing in more then having to choose between paying bills and having the odd bit of fun and then bam my car breaks. It is not going to be an expensive fix, relatively speaking. Just so fucking ready to not constantly worry about money, to finally finish my degree. I really have to admit I have issues with talking to people that I do not know via the internet. I mean I go to tell someone that I really enjoy their work and I feel like I am being that creepy fan boy that drools over them, trying to stroke their ego because that is as close as I will get to stroking them, this is not the case (though I am told that I have a way with words). Though not that my personal life with friends has been going much better for me. I guess this is what being retrospective will get you sometimes. I try and say what I mean, in a no, I do not want to wear your skin kind of way. I hear a lot from artists on the various sites I go to saying that comments are encouraged, I guess I need to start adding that to my posts. See if I am coming off as bad as I feel like I am, and how I need to improve. Social interactions have never been something that I have been really good with.

I guess the reason I feel freer here talking on a personal level is that no one here really knows me, if I fuck up in a glorious way I can just not come back. Disappear and pop back up as another anonymous name. I do have trust issues, and confidence issues, that stem from the merciless bullying that I dealt with growing up, my biggest tormentor shared a room with me till I was 11, and still treats me in the same manner.

so for the first time in my 23 years of existing I have seen the Rocky Horror Picture Show and I LOVED IT.

This was not the full experience I am told though because it was at a buddy's place, but there are now plans in the works for a full viewing with bread throwing and dressing in drag coming up. This is one of the up sides to being friends with the presidents of both the Campus Pagan Association and Queers and Allies (not sure if Q&A is going to join in with the CPA but the CPA pres already said that it would be a great idea for a fundraiser, free movie + prop bags at the door for a price, this was my idea and I am going to see if I can get it going)

Well that is all really just excited about this, I have been singing Time Warp and Science Fiction Double Feature all day. This really annoyed my gaming group.
