Just another reason I need an Xbone
General | Posted 9 years agoMy birthday in Japan
General | Posted 12 years agoI was born on Easter Sunday, April 7th 1985AD. I used to think it was kind of cool that I was born on a holiday even after I started changing my mind about religion. These days I think of Easter as a mostly harmless affair. I could point out that the whole thing stims from the story of a pretty decent guy getting brutally murdered before being reanimated as a holy zombi (yet after advocating cannibalism oddly enough) and being promptly whisked away to Heaven leaving no evidence, only for his followers to to spent the next 2,000 years blahblahblah
Just let the kids have their candy, you dick.
But it turns out that Easter isn't the only holiday that sometimes happens on my birth day.
I take you now to Kawasaki Japan. As I type this, massive shrines are being built so they can be carried with pride through the city streets. People are preparing make holiday themed candies and treats for the children. Costumes are being lovingly sown by hand. On Sunday April 7th 2013AD the streets of Kawasaki will be filled the the joy and merriment that can only come from Kanamara Matsuri.

P.S. Happy birthday spams are welcome =3

Stoat: Itty, bitty, and gritty.
General | Posted 13 years agoSeeing as how I have watchers now I figured I'd share my own personal video game IP. I'm also posting this on the Steam forums so maybe a game will really come of it.
The story of Stoat takes place in the near future. There's been a sudden increase in unexplainable events. The recent increase in natural disasters is a part of this trend. People don't know what's going on. To make things even more complex some people seem to be followed by such phenomenon. These people cause strange things to happen around them. Some times these event are terrifying, but most of the time it's like a problem suddenly going away. The people so afflicted by these events were never really "normal" to begin with. They were always strange types who never came close to fitting in.
Shortly after the phenomenons were found to follow certain people that the US government did the same thing it always does when people are grouped together by social opinion become note worthy. They came up with fancy names and sayings to make treating people like they're some how sub-human look like a good idea. The Federal government spent over $4,000,000,000 (4 billion) capturing and interning the "freaks" in camps, labs, military bases and even prisons. All in the name of public safety of course.
Enter Aaron Chandler. If you're thinking that Chandler is selfless hero rushing into one of these camps to rescue his girl than think again. Chandler is a contract killer. He's hired to torture and kill a detective who refused to do his job, and got several people sent to one of the prison/labs under the assumption that they're violent and dangerous. This kind of job is pretty straight forward for Chandler. He doesn't believe in any of the crazy stories that have been going around. (Would you?) He figures it's just paranoid reactionism like so many controversial government acts before. Than he gets turned into a stoat.
More specifically: Aaron is transfomed into a six inch tall anthro-stoat. Stoats are tiny predators that are known for their exceptional climbing abilities and being able to kill animals several times larger than themselves. They also happen to be adorable, but that's not really the point. The point is that Aaron's only hope of regaining his true form is to help the prisoners.
The lab (I'm having a lot of trouble coming up with a name. Thoughts?) takes the form a gaming sandbox. It's five floors, plus the roof. two of those floors are below the ground level. The lab has been used for many different forms of research over the years. Some of the bulkier equipment had to be left where it was so there are entire rooms that were converted to storage. The walls and sealing can be climbed at any time. Some things will be moved around by the scientist and other staff. The ventilation system is infested with insects and rodents that can pose a threat to Aaron.
Aaron will be able to collect items from around the facility to build his own weapons and equipment. These items will wear down the more their used. The most basic weapon at Aaron's disposal are thumb tacks. Aaron can also rig larger items into traps or bombs. The player will always be able to find new ways to eliminate his targets. Labs can be very dangerous places.
There would be side missions, sub-plots and collectables available all around the lab. Side missions would consist mostly of sabotaging equipment or stealing things for prisoners. The only collectible I have in mind is flash drives containing research, and key cards. There are benefits to all these things, but none of them are forced onto the player. Aaron is never forced to be any more or less than a stab happy freak of nature. He has targets. What else does a contract killer need?
This would be a game in witch you can steal a scalpel, cling to the sealing above your enemy, drop down onto them, cut them open, crawl around inside them, stab them in the heart from the inside, cut your way out again, and have blood stained fur for until you get it washed off.
