Yet More Injuries!
Posted 6 months agoI don't know what evil witch I may have wronged to have obtained this particular curse, but apparently they're working overtime; if you're wondering where I've been, it's mostly been in recovery for a fractured ankle that's only just now starting to heal! I should be back to posting regular updates again soon now that I'm up and running again!
Temporary Commission Slowdown Due To Injury!
Posted 10 months agoIf you've never had a relatively healthy front tooth pulled out by a dental veneer catching on something, I strongly recommend not doing that, actually, ever, if you can help it
As you might have surmised from that thoroughly mortifying description, things are going to be a little dicey here for the next couple of months between wrangling dental visits for repairs and fitting for a partial denture, working through a painkiller haze and keeping time free for any earlier appointment openings, and my standard turnaround pace of 'Sluggish' is going to be briefly downgraded to 'Glacial'. Commissions are still ongoing and active, but I have to ask for extra patience for both current and impending commissioners 'til this is resolved.

We're Back!
Posted 2 years agoI can't believe I forgot to actually post this when I got back from vacation as opposed to like a week and a half later, but service has resumed and we're back to drawing big animals, and also not-big animals!
Vacation Time!
Posted 2 years agoAs a heads-up to active commissioners, I’ll be heading out for vacation between the 20th and the 29th; my tablet’s going with me, so I’ll be in contact and able to get some light work done, but obviously output’s going to be slowed given the primary goal of this vacation is ‘enjoy the first block of actual time off I’ve had since 2018’; in the meantime, I’ll be working on providing updates and finals for all established WIPs before I’m off! Thanks for your patience, and I’ll see you again once I’ve had some long-overdue rest!
Service Restored Due To Merely Seasonable Warmth
Posted 4 years agoSeattle is no longer annexed by the sun itself, so we're back to work good and proper! Now to frantically attempt to catch up to a week of lost work like I usually do!
Service Outage Due To The Horrible Gaze Of The Sun
Posted 4 years agoAs you may have seen from the news, Seattle is currently experiencing an absolute nightmare of a heat wave! In a place where it's usually cold enough that nobody has air conditioning, you can probably imagine how much 100+ temperatures are, and operating a high-end desktop to draw feels like operating a blast furnace; if the forecast prediction is correct, work should resume on Wednesday! Until then, I'm going to basically drown myself in frigid bath water for the next three days!
And We're Back!
Posted 4 years agoService is once again restored, and commissions are now underway again! Thanks for your patience, everyone!
Having decided to opt out of standalone tablets maybe forever with the realizations that they're only sort of passable for art and also that I have never actually gone anywhere further than my apartment kitchen with a supposedly portable machine like my old, dead Surface Pro, I decided instead to throw the amount of money I'd spend on another two-in-one laptop/art tablet solution into a Wacom ONE and a new gaming desktop!
Having switched over to the One fully at this point, I am positively aghast at how much faster and cleaner my work is suddenly coming out in comparison to my workflow on the Surface; I'd sort of assumed I was just slowing down or becoming more discerning about my linework over the past couple years but apparently it was more that I should never have settled for anything less than a dedicated art tablet!

Critical Tablet Failure & A Brief Service Outage!
Posted 4 years agoIt's right there in the headline, folks; the Surface Pro 2017 model I picked up three years ago is almost stone-dead, the battery having been shot completely through after 250 cycles; while it was an incredibly well-designed little tool that I adored using, I can't say I can thoroughly recommend a product that dies less than a tenth of the way into its expected usage.
While I'm taking the time to determine what my replacement is going to be and waiting for it to arrive, I'll be unable to draw, which is, to be frank, absolutely devastating even if it's just for a week or so, but it also means commissions will be on brief hiatus until I'm up and running again! I appreciate any and all patience on behalf of active commissioners or people waiting in my queue!

Black Lives Matter
Posted 5 years agoAnyone who's seen my Twitter account over the past four years knows exactly where I stand on this matter, but my platform on FA is considerably larger and a few folks asked me why I hadn't made a statement here about it. The truth is I often forget the journal feature even exists, but that reminder has given me plenty of reason to put my money where my mouth is, so to speak.
I shouldn't have to say it. It hurts to think that America, my home country, is in such a sorry state that the statement 'Black Lives Matter' is a controversial one, or one that is difficult for people to accept without throwing in 'ALL Lives Matter' as a means of deflection. Of course all lives matter -- but not all of them are being ended prematurely via state violence right now, and making the conversation about people who are not actively being harmed is unthinkably selfish at best and, at worst, actively malicious. The people who do one or the other, you know who you are. Please act accordingly and either take some time to ask WHY people hate that statement so much if it seems so innocent to you, or, if you're in the latter category, show yourself out. I don't need those views or those potential commissions from people with that kind of hate in their hearts; you can come back when you've learned something. I believe, firmly, that anyone can change, from the people who simply don't understand to those who hold nothing but malice in their hearts for the people who are hurting right now. Anyone can change.
I know a lot of you are probably scared right now. I know I am; Seattle's a hotbed of activity at the moment and I keep hearing nearby signs of it out of my own window while I work. It's almost harder to NOT be involved in the protests given how omnipresent they've become here. Part of me is terribly sad, seeing that -- I don't like watching people fight, but part of me is so, so proud -- sometimes we HAVE to fight, and I'm glad we have finally decided to do so for a good reason.
Until we see an end to the fighting, an end to police brutality and an end to discrimination of any sort, I urge you -- be kind.
Don't put any more hate out into the world, not when we're fighting so hard across every single state to eradicate a large source of it, once and for all. Let kindness dictate your every action -- small ones, like talking people through what they're feeling or doing good on a local level, or large ones, like donating to charities, standing up for and listening to the people who have told you, time and time again, that they are being oppressed, or killed, or simply can't breathe without speaking over them.
If you're one of those people who feels like they're in a situation where you're scared or helpless, or just need to vent about what you're going through, please, shoot me a PM; I'm no psychiatrist but I'm a pretty good listener, and I'll do my best to help. All I ask is that you pay it forward when the time comes.
Hang in there, y'all. You know I'm rooting for ya.

Hardware Malfunction! Expect Light Delays!
Posted 5 years agoThis has been something of a banner week for me! In addition to navigating complicated government bureaucracy and setting up a dental appointment for a damaged incisor, I also managed to fumble my tablet pen into a drink on my desk this morning! Replacing it should only take a day or two, but until then I'm dead in the water! If you have a pending commission with me, I'd certainly appreciate it if you bear with me an extra couple of days!
Thanks for understanding, and I'll try to make the wait worth it!

The Art Factory is Back Online!
Posted 6 years agoAfter a few days of GENUINELY HORRID flu, I seem to finally be on the mend; I think I'm well enough to get back in the saddle, at any rate!
Please excuse a few minor delays as I clear out the small queue I've built up during my outage, and thank you all so much for your patience while I sweated or coughed out 95% of my bodily fluids! That spent blood, sweat and tears has now (mostly) regenerated and I can start pouring it into your commissions again instead of a grotesquely tall pile of tissues! XD

Brief Commission Delay!
Posted 6 years agoI'm on Day 3 of flu-like symptoms and I'm extremely weak at the moment, so we'll keep this brief!
There will be a brief outage in commission turnaround for the next couple days or so; I hate to delay the work for anything but a fever bad enough to make me black out and collapse has given me very little choice in the matter; I can barely hold my pen, let alone promise any quality at the moment! I certainly hope everyone understands, and I'll be getting back to work as soon as I'm physically able!

Two-Day Service Outage!
Posted 6 years ago“But Dai, isn’t two days off a weekend?”
Haha, don’t be absurd, commission artists don’t take those! But even if they did, this is a bit different; I’ll be out of service and out of my apartment for a couple of days while my bathtub gets resurfaced; breathing fiberglass dust is bad for people with asthma like myself, as it turns out!
Thanks much for current and impending commissioners for their patience; we’ll be back to work on Saturday! ^_^

And we're back!
Posted 6 years agoAs it turns out, ten inches of snow is too many inches for Seattle's infrastructure to handle! Thankfully the resultant poweroutage wasn't terribly long, and we're officially up, running, and nearly done playing catch-up for the time I lost to ridiculously inclement weather! Thanks for the patience, everyone!
Potential Brief Service Outage!
Posted 6 years agoSeattle's currently in Day 3 of a blizzard that may yet last several days more, and despite the solid infrastructure, it can only take so much, as my flickering power is currently suggesting at! While this is hardly a definitive, if I'm a little difficult to get ahold of over the next few days, a poweroutage is the most likely reason for it; it may also briefly stall pending commissions, since I do literally everything digitally, so I certainly appreciate any patience should it wind up being necessary! ^_^
New Year: Have A Happy One Of Those!
Posted 6 years agoAnd only a day late this time! XD
Howdy, FA Folks! I hope you all had a good 2018! Like anyone's, mine had its ups and downs, but I'd say overall that it was a good one; I got to meet a lot of cool new people over the year, delved into a new hobby (Magic: The Gathering! I'm still an absolute novice but the Ravnica splatbook Wizards of the Coast released for D&D5e got me interested!) played way too many video games (I cannot believe how long it took me to finish Persona 5) and put a concentrated effort into improving my artwork! Expect to see a lot more of that going forward; I've been trying to pick up every new technique or trick for my usual tools (mostly Clip Studio) that I possibly can! In a similar vein, I've put together a number of art-related resolutions in addition to my regular set that I'm going to try and stick to for 2019! Those include:
* Continue to improve shading; I've learned a few new things since 2018 but I can still get better!
* Keep working on dramatic angles, and try to lean on the 3/4ths perspective less!
* Get a bit more talkative on FA and Twitter again; I'd like to start posing journals here regularly and get more WIPs on Twitter!
* Consider a Patreon; I've got a ton of little stretch goals and bonuses I'd love to play around with for stuff like this!
* Maybe start doing private streaming stuff
* Finally adjust my prices; I've been putting this off for almost five years!
* Draw more non-OCs; I used to be a little gunshy about this, but there's a lot of characters from extant media I'd love to draw!
Questions? Comments? Suggestions? Just want to share how your 2018 went? Feel free to drop me a line below, and here's to a good 2019!

Commissions: We're Open!
Posted 7 years agoThat stack of art is coming down to the bottom again, and it's time for me to get back to taking on new stuff! If you, too, are looking for new stuff, look no further!
The bust sketches turned out to be really popular, so I'm going to go ahead and keep those on my tier list; I have an absolute blast doing them, and I've considered adding bust shots of varying detail levels to boot since quite a few folks have asked! I'm still working out the pricing on those; let me know what you think! ^_^
At any rate, prices below:
Bust Sketch: $10
Sketch: $15
Inks: $35
Flats: $45
Full-Color: $65
If you're interested, tag me here or via PM and we'll talk it over!

Commissions Open!
Posted 8 years agoAlrighty, once again we're coming up on the end of a sizable stack of pictures, and once again, it's time to reopen! After some thought, I've decided to add an additional tier to my commissions: bust sketches, akin to http://www.furaffinity.net/view/24630623/ or http://www.furaffinity.net/view/24630499/ since I'm trying to get more practice drawing wider ranges of expression; I'm trying to price these as a perfect addition to ref sheets that could use a bit more detail, or just a quick series of expressions for a single character, so let me know what you think!
Prices below:
Bust Sketch: $10
Sketch: $15
Inks: $35
Flats: $45
Full-Color: $65
There's usually a small discount for multi-character commissions as well! Hit me up either here or via PM and I'll see what I can do for you! ^_^

So Many Uploads / A Potential New Commission Tier Maybe??
Posted 8 years agoHoly Moly, I missed a lot of stuff in my last few upload sets! How far back do I mean by 'last few' you ask? Well, hypothetical reader, I'm glad and deeply embarrassed you asked, since I think I have stuff dating back to like 2014 that didn't go up when it should've! Expect the next few days to have some pretty frequent uploads of a wide variety, and if it looks like my art is getting worse, don't worry, I'm not undergoing some horrible Flowers for Algernon-esque degeneration of my artistic faculties, it's just that some of these are super old at this point! There's some new stuff going up in here, too! Speaking of which:
I've recently been trying my hand at some high-detail bust sketches lately, along the lines of this: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/24630623/ and this: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/24630499/ and I've given some thought to making them an official commission tier! How does $10 a head for something like this sound? I'm interested in hearing a few thoughts! ^_^

Commissions Are Back!
Posted 8 years agoWell, it's getting down to the bottom of my current set, I'll be ready to start on new work within a couple of days, and it's once again time to start taking on new commissions! If you're interested, feel free to note me here or shoot me a PM to hold a slot! Prices Below:

Inks: $35
Flats: $45

Posted 8 years agoWhoof, it's been a grip since I've done this, hasn't it? Things are finally settling down from the frantic start this year's had for me, and with it has settled my commission stack! We're getting down towards the bottom of my workload again, and as such, it's time to reopen! Apologies for the delay to anyone who was looking for a commission!

Status Update
Posted 8 years agoI'm fairly under the weather today, so I'll keep this one short.
It has been... a couple of weeks. Mom's back in the hospital and I'm bedridden with the flu; to say I'm absolutely exhausted is putting it mildly. I'm terribly sorry for the extended delay on commissions; this has just been a miserable couple of months and I hate that it's affecting my ability to get things done on time.
Thank you so much for your continued patience; I'm sure I'll be back on my feet soon.

Back To Work / Accepting Commissions!
Posted 8 years agoI said I didn't wanna keep anyone waiting for too long, and given the good news and the return to a much more leisurely pace after the last journal entry, I'd certainly like to have something to do while I plan my trip down to Texas! As such, I'll be putting off my hiatus and getting my butt back in gear right away! Pending commissions will resume tomorrow, and I'll also be taking my new commission set for January; if you're interested, just shoot me a PM!
I'd also like to extend a personal thanks to everyone who wished me and my family well over this whole ordeal; it's incredibly appreciated to know that people out there care. I hope y'all had a great New Year, and let's try and make 2017 a good one! ^_^

Pending Commissions On Hold / Personal Tragedy (New Info!)
Posted 8 years agoI hate to drag out bad news, so I'll make this brief; I have to take a short hiatus while I fly back out to Texas for an indefinite-but-hopefully-short stay after my mom was diagnosed with ovarian cancer today. I've already lost two people to cancer this year without being able to see them before they passed, and I have no intention of making the same mistake a third time.
My sincerest apologies to folks who have active commissions pending with me, as well as folks who were hoping to get one soon; I absolutely hate to let them sit, and I hope y'all understand. With luck, we'll get back to our regularly-scheduled smut in short order!
EDIT: There's been some good news! The cancer test came back negative; there's still a scary-as-hell surgery to face, and I'm still heading out that way to visit, but thankfully it's looking like it'll be to celebrate and not to build a plan of attack against a very serious disease! Thank you all so much for the well-wishes, I'm incredibly appreciative! Hopefully this also means the brief hiatus will be even shorter; it's certainly easier to focus on creative works without something like this hanging over my head!

A Message To Marginalized Fans, Followers and Friends
Posted 9 years agoWe'll get 'em next time.
This year's seen a lot of crazy stuff. I've personally witnessed more sadness, misery, and even mortality this year than I think I have in any other year up to this point, and as a capstone we elected a Circus Peanut president. It almost seems fitting.
I ain't gonna tell any of you how to feel right now. Some of you are scared, others are confused, many are furious -- a lot of us are all three. There's plenty of reasons to be. But there's also plenty of reasons to look forward, by virtue of necessity if not much else, and now is absolutely the best time to show how much you care. Push back against the people who would push you down, and stand firmly behind those you care about. You keep doing good in the world, and let nobody stop you.
If anyone's looking to talk it over, you know where to get ahold of me. No comments on this journal; discussion of this sorta thing is best handled mano-a-mano.
