An explanation for delays!
Posted 8 years agoSo I just want to say sorry first of all to all my followers and commissioners. Work has been taking me much longer than I would like and unfortunately its still going to be a bit until my queue is finished.
I’d like to just explain a little bit about why. I can’t go in to too much detail because the situation is quite personal. But to make a long story short there has been a number of pretty severe things happening in my personal life that has effected my mental health almost dangerously. And I am not in a healthy place. I am slowly getting better and am seeking help.
But the strain of the events leading me to feel this way was intense and i will be slow going in bouncing back to my normal fast working self. This is why I try not to give guaranteed due dates for items.
All the plush in my queue have been started in some fashion. As in embroidery files and/or patterning is mostly done if not complete. It is just a matter of cutting fabric and sewing together at this point. I will endeavour to get everyones items done as soon as I can but please bare with me.
I know its crappy to have someone you’ve commissioned be delayed and I never thought something would effect me this bad. But it has. and I am deeply sorry.

Patreon? Comment opinons/ideas/thoughts
Posted 8 years agoSo its probably something i wouldn't do for a while, but Im really wanting to make a patreon... It would be for all work things probably. Plush making WIPs, videos and tutorials. Art stuff, merch/product WIPs and early access. And all kinds of things like that. Would have all WIPs and early access available at small tiers and higher tiers would gain access to pre-orders, polls, private help with things/tips, and possibly giveaways/freebies.
So I want some help thinking of ideas and peoples opinions on it.
What are your thoughts on Patreon (if you sub to anyone or have looked at it)
If I made one, what kind of things would you want to see? (Only plush, or plush, merch and art things?)
And just in general if you'd sub to a Patreon if I had one? (would have tiers ranging from $1 upwards probably)
BIG UPDATE MAY 2017 - FurDU, Commissions and the next year..
Posted 8 years agoHey everyone! So FurDU is now over and its time for a BIG update thingy. Will be covering post FurDU things, commission updates, and whats coming in the next 12 months.
This is gonna be long so feel free to skip to areas you want to know about.
• • • •
FurDU:
So first things first, I want to thank everyone who came by my table at Furry Down Under this past weekend to support me. Everyone who purchased something or even just took a business card means so damn much to me.
I also want to thank all the amazing friends who supported me leading up to this con (especially changesdaskunk dude idk what I'd have done without you the last couple months).
I might not have done as well as I hoped I would (due to fabric not arriving and maybe just not having what people are interested in) but i have 12 months to get ready for the next FurDU and make sure my table is bigger and better. I also will be skipping dealing at Confurgence so I have the entire time until FurDU next year to prep now.
So please throw suggestions at me at what merch types you'd like so see, not just plush!
• • • •
Commissions and Commissioners!
So now that the con season is over for me its time to jump into commissions. I have two Pre-FurDU commissions that couldn't be done before hand (a patch and a badge) to finish up and post out so those will be done first and foremost while I wait for supplies for everything else.
I also will note here that I am taking my embroidery/sewing machine in for a service this week as it has not had one yet. This will put a delay in the last patch and my commissions but I am sorry. It HAS to be done this week or I run the risk of damaging the machine beyond repair.
But I did do well enough at FurDU that I hope I will be able to pick up a new sewing machine by the end of the month which means I will be working even faster!
I have 4 fairly large plush commissions to do so that will take up the bulk of my time, I will be working on my pouch commissions in between and/or before I start these (simply because the fabric for most of the pouch commissions I got is in stock)
Once I finish these custom pouches I will post the link to the form to order them publicly. I will probably stay open for pouch commissions for a long while as they are fun and quick to do.
If you are a commissioner and have any questions please let me know!

The next 12 months...
As for the future... I dont know. There are alot of things going on in my personal life but I am trying not to let them effect my work too much.
The good news is though that I am busy applying for an emergency dispatcher job here in Brisbane (so dispatching police/fire/ambulance services when people call 000) so wish me luck as it will help me get the extra money I need. Though it may slow me down a little, I am hoping not too much with the way rosters work in that field.
I am also saving as much as I can to move to Melbourne within the next 12-14 months ideally. This is so that I can leave the personally issues here behind and be closer to my support network of amazing friends.

Hope this wasn't too annoying to read and I hope you're all okay. Thank you again for supporting me!

Hey everyone so I am finally home from my 8 week trip back home. I am in kind of a bad place since then as I want nothing more than to be back there with my family and I am trying to think of a way that might be possible.
Though it is a huge possibility I will be moving any time in the next 12 months. Either back home to South Africa or to Melbourne.
• • • •
Commission update:
My form for plush commissions is closing soon and I've had some really awesome submissions. A few have already been accepted but if you sent in a quote form and have received your quote please make sure you respond if interested ~ ! Likewise if you haven't received anything please let me know.
• • • •
FurDU 2017:
Ahh its way closer than I realised and I am FREAKING OUT. I haven't started any of my stock yet (other than Confurgence left over stock) and thats a bit scary. I dont know how much I will have, or entirely what will be there. But I will be open for customs the whole weekend !
This includes custom plush, patches and minky pouches (new comm type, stay tuned). I will be offering on the spot quotes and commission slots so if you'd like to chat in person about a commission, please come by !!
• • • •
Trying to plan out what will happen this year is hard with a lot of personal life things effecting my decisions but Im taking it as it comes. I know that this year will be the year I purchase an airbrush to help with plush making and hopefully a new embroidery machine too.
Thank you again for all your support ~ !
Id also love to hear any and all feedback about what you'd like to see from Daiku's Workshop in 2017.
Confurgence 2017, Holiday, Plush Commissions and FurDU 2017
Posted 8 years agoHey guys so omg gonna do a bunch of updates here so bare with me.
• • • •
Confurgence:
Wow confurgence was a blast. I had so much fun, I met so many amazing people, changed my thoughts on so many people (both good and bad) ad had an amazing time hanging with the squad when I wasn't at my table.
Dealing was such an awesome experience and I cannot thank anyone who bought something from me enough. You all are amazing and I love you. Everyone was so nice and enthusiastic and I hope that I can have more and better things at FurDU and any other cons I deal at.
At this stage I will be skipping dealing at Confurgence 2018, I want to enjoy the 10yr anniversary con and its very expensive to travel for it for me to justify right now as my break even is just so high for the con, but I hope I'll be back in 2019 for the dealers den.

Plush Commissions:
Guys, my form is open until the end of March (between the 20th and the 30th most likely) and then paymets will be due around Mid April, sometime before FurDU. This is so that I can order fabric while I am away for FurDU and then start as soon as I am home.
That being said, if you are sending in a form PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let me know if you dont receive a quote or a response. Some people won't receive a response if their form was not filled out correctly but most people will receive a response. Ive had a few people tell me they didn't already so please let me know if you do not receive one.
I also can't stress this more, if you DO receive one and you wish to go ahead, please respond. I can't make a list of possible commissioners if no one responds... hell even if you dont want to go ahead, respond with that fact anyway, it leaves me stressing about weather people got their forms or not.
Ive gotten some awesome submissions so far and I wanna see more.
I am open for ANY kind of plush, any size, style anything. Throw some new styles/ideas at me. I am also open to taking props and the like too.
So get those forms in ;3

FurDU 2017:
So Daiku's Workshop has a table for Furry Down Under in May and I am so excited. But I need all of your help thinking of ideas and what you'd like to see at my table.
The theme is "The Outback" but it doesnt need to stay entirely on theme though ;3
So far I know I'll have one or two big roo plushies, hoping to have some shark themed things, something fishy. But other than that Im not sure.
You can suggest plush, stickers, pins, charms etc. Ive got 2 months to work on patterning, artwork etc so I need some great ideas ~ !
• • • •
South Africa:
Soo on Thursday I am heading on holiday, I am going away for 8 weeks back home to South Africa to visit my family. I'll still have internet so I will be posting updates, answering quote forms and questions, working on art and posting it and all that.
Also if you follow me on twitter (chanae_jordaan) you can watch me spam things on my trip haha.

Updates, Gradient Embroidery and Commission openings
Posted 9 years agoSoo, I now offer gradient embroidery on plush commissions.
You can see my first test example of it here; https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CvgHaGK.....TBhd.jpg:large for this custom Gazimon plush I am working on. This example was literally the first test so expect only improvement from here.
So that means that gradients are now available for all plush commissions (it will not be available for patches just yet)
Gradients take a lot more time and work and will obviously cost extra. I also cannot guarantee that all gradients can be achieved but I will let you know if it cannot when you apply for a commissions
• • • •
Now for updates ~ !
I am busy finishing up Sniper the DAD plush now, just crown and hand sewing left to do. I am also finishing up an alolan vulpix then will be making a start on a custom gazimon plush which is all patterned out, just need to start it haha.
I also have a bunch of patch commissions to get done before confurgence as well as all my plush and embroidered stock. I dont know how much stuff I will have with me, it just depends how much time I've got.
But you can expect some cute wolf plush, some dragon rolls, dragon eggs, and if I get time hopefully one plush backpack as well as a butt load of embroidered patches.
Confurgence will be my first con so I'm going to try and keep it minimal to what I bring to gauge interest and I may have a suggestion box for plush and patches people would like to see in the future ^.^

Commission openings...
This is going to be hard to say. After Confurgence (January) I am going on holiday for 8 weeks. I cant work on any sewing things or really any art while I am there other than basic sketching and drawing on my iPad and sketch books. This is also a much needed get away for me to be with my family so I dont really want to be working on much even if I could, as much as it will drive me crazy not to work on things.
I will be using that time to work on concepts and pattern drafts though most likely.
When I return I have around 5 weeks to prepare for Furry Down Under dealers den. It will consist mostly of whatever I can get done in that time and anything left from Confurgence. However I will be accepting one or two plush comms when I return. Depending on complexity they an be done in time for FurDU, or will be completed shortly afterward. These will be my normal sitting anthro plush pattern so that I dont have to spend too much time on patterning.
I will be accepting applications then for any other plush commissions for the remainder of 2017. I am not sure how many I will take, if I will only take a couple and then reopen or if I will open for a large batch at once. But expect that opening to happen around the end of May 2017 (omg already half way into that year T.T)
• • • •
Anyway thats it guys, if you have any questions feel free to comment or note me. I will also be getting back to messages and notes I've received recently, sorry if I opened it and didn't reply, I just have had a moment to get my head around replying.

Please remember that these won't be At store bought prices it's still a custom item that is handmade; I will be charging mainly for materials so please keep that in mind, the size you want will also push the price up
Price Example would be;
For a 12-15'' tall standing Eevee, made entirely from minky with embroidered details would be around $200AUD
Thats about a $100 discount from what I would usually charge.
Daiku's Workshop - Terms of Service
Posted 9 years agoCommission Info
Basic Terms:
• I have the right to refuse any commission if I feel it is beyond my abilities.
• Do NOT ask me to remake or imitate another artist’s work. I will not. It is rude to them and to myself to ask this of me.
• Prices are non-negotiable. They are like they are for a reason. If you would like a proper price breakdown, this can be discussed.
• Asking me to change the distinguishing features of my plushies is rude and may (most likely will) result in your plush commission being refused and/or refunded. Using heart shaped shines in my eyes and no distinguishing mouth lines is a signature of mine. Aswell as the soft tags located on the rump of the plush.
• I own a dog, I am a non-smoker (occasional vape, but not around my sewing area)
• Once construction of a plush has taken place (aside from only minor work), the entire piece of non-refundable. In exceptional circumstances, the 50% after material costs may be refunded, but is dependant on the individual situation. If it has arrived at your home, and you have changed your mind, the entire piece is 100% non-refundable.
• I am happy to do minor repairs at the cost of you shipping the plush with a return means of packaging. I am also happy to supply you with the information to perform minor touch ups yourself (such as a popped seam)
• I am in no way responsible for damage caused by shipping/handling of the plush. Or breakages due to handling, these are not made to be excessivly handled or played with.
• Plushies are NOT suitable for children, they contain small parts.
• Please avoid repetitively sending messages and inquires. I will update commissioners regularly, as well as constantly updating my trello with progress. Please be aware that the more messages you send, the more time it takes for me to complete your plush.
• You must be aged 18 or older, I will not work with minors, or with their parents at this current point in time.
Price Info:
• All prices are in Australian Dollars (AUD) unless stated otherwise
• Prices do not include shipping fees; which will be quoted for on a case by case basis. Based on weight and method of shipping.
• Prices are for plushies made from minky, with machine embroidered, appliquéd, or sewn in markings and details.
• Price quotes are valid for 3 months
• Quotes will only be given to those who fill out a quote form, quotes are always open, even if commission slots/applications are not. If you only wish for a quote, and not to commission at this time, this is the form to fill out. Another form is available for commissioners
• Once construction of a plush has taken place (aside from only minor work), the entire piece of non-refundable. In exceptional circumstances, the 50% after material costs may be refunded, but is dependant on the individual situation. • Payment can be made in full, or in two installments. Longer plans can be discussed for plushies over $300 and/or for multiple purchases.
• The first payment is due within 48 hours after invoice has been sent. If the payment is not made within the first 48 hours of invoice being sent, your commission will be cancelled.
• The second half of payment is due at max, 2 weeks after completion of plush. Plans for plushies over $300 and/or multiple plushies can have longer time frames,
• If you must cancel your commission, know that the first payment (50%) is non-refundable if plush has NOT been started or only a minimal amount of work has been completed. If the plush was paid in full, you will be refunded half of the amount.
• The plush will not be started until the first payment is received, as this payment is intended to cover most (if not all) of material costs.

Commission Slot Info
• Multiple plushes in one order are available, no more than 4 per person, per commission slot. Quotes will be given for all plushies included in order, and for each plush individually.
• The amount of commission slots taken varies between opening periods, I will announce the exact amount before each re-opening.
• Commissions can re-open at any time, though will usually open when the current working queue has been completed.
• I reserve the right to cancel a commission if need be (only in extreme circumstances)
• I reserve the right to refuse a commission for whatever reason
• If I do not hear back from you within 1 week of your slot being accepted, your slot will be forfeited
• Quote/Commission requests must be submitting using the below linked form. You may email any enquires to qua_jordaan[at]hotmail.com or note me on FurAffinity.

Daiku's Workshop - Plush FAQ
Posted 9 years ago
Welcome to the FAQ of Daiku's Workshop.
These are for all things related to my plushies and commission process. If you have any other questions that you would like answered and do not see them here. Do not hesitate to post them below.
- - - -
How much are your plush?
Plush range from $150AUD - $450AUD+ depending on design, extras etc etc. Prices are given on a case by case basis, prices can only be obtained via filling out quote form, and quotes are usually only given to people who are genuinely interested. DO NOT waste my time asking for a quote just because you want to know how much, it takes me a lot of time to come up with these quotes.
Do they come from an animal and smoke free home?
I own a dog; who I interact with constantly, and has access to my sewing room and likes to sleep in there with me while I am working. That being said; all plush will be thoroughly cleaned of any dog hair that may be on your plush. Home is smoke free.
Can you add jewellery if I pay for it?
I can ~ ! I can find costume jewellery, or make small trinkets based on your characters design. Some accessories like collars can even be made from minky or other fabrics. These things will come at additional costs though.
Can you make my plush by XX date or XX con?
Possibly. If you commission well enough in advance, it is possible. I do not make promises for anything. Especially if you are overseas. If I happen to be going to the con or it is near where I live and you have commissioned within sufficient time, I can try my hardest to get it done for you. But I make absolutely no promises to be able to do this.
Are you able to ship internationally?
I am. Please be aware though that international shipping is not cheap.
Are you able to ship express?
Within Australia; yes. Internationally will be discussed on a case by case basis and will be very costly.
Are you able to make a copyrighted character?
If from a TV show or game; it is dependant on which company owns the rights to said character. I will NOT make another person’s fursona for you though, or of a popular fursona or suit. This will be determined on a case by case basis.
Are you able to make my pokesona/digisona/other copyrighted franchise OC?
This will be determined on a case by case basis. Dependant mainly on which franchise.
Can you add a pocket to store my stuff?
Possibly; this will incur additional costs though.
Can you make a plush backpack?
While I do not offer this option at the moment; it will be available in the future once I have it all worked out. So keep an eye out ;3
Can you add a smelly scent like the ones at buildabear to my plush?
Funnily enough; I have been looking into this recently. This may be available in the future; I am just working out the logistics of it as sending scented things overseas can be a bit of a customs issue.
Can you make bigger/smaller plush?
For my current anthro sitting pattern; I would prefer not to make it any smaller. But if wished I can make it larger; but this would be much more expensive as it involves more steps to creating larger plush and embroidery (embroidery field is currently limited to smaller designs only). While this option is not yet available; it will be in the near future. Especially with other patterns.
If it is a larger or small prop you are looking for; this is definitely possible. Especially with pieces with little to no embroidery involved.
Could you change the expression of my plush?
Of course !! I gain expression with my plush mainly from the eyes; so whatever you think you’d like to be conveyed this way, i’d be more than happy to oblige. Grumpy, sleepy, crying, winking etc etc.
Can you make me plush accessories for me or my plush?
I can make you and your plush some matching props. I will also be having collars and harnesses available soon; once this is available it would be possible to have matching for yourself and your plush at additional costs.
Can you add magnets to my plush so it can hold metal things? (Or hold hands)
I can add some very strong rare earth magnets; this is usually done so that your plush can hold little props, or wear accessories (that have the corresponding magnet in)
Can I wash my plush?
It is generally advised not to machine wash your plush or submerge it AT ALL. You can lightly wipe it down, but please avoid submerging or soaking it in water. Daiku's Workshop will not be held responsible for any colours/dyes/markings etc that run or any breakages as a result from attempting to wash your plush
I have a dragon / reptilian sona so could you make my plush at of something other than minky that is more scaley?
It is possible; but non plush fabrics can behave differently when used for plush making. For scaled sonas it is possible to have scales sewn directly into the fabric to give the illusion of scaled skin, while still retaining the softness and plush feeling of minky.
