On a sidenote, been catching up on 3D animated movies I've been missing over the years.
Megamind? It was fun to watch, fun character.
Despicable Me? Eh, that one was alright as a first attempt, but it was still very much a kids movie with lots of pandering, obvious 3D glasses moments, but the scale felt very off. Sure, there was the idea of heroes and villians, but there was no sign of any heroes whatsoever.
Toy Story 3? Oh my god, fuck you Pixar. I watched this, I watched UP, stop with your succesful assaults on my emotions and get me teary-eyed! :( It was also interesting to see just how far their techniques have improved over the years, especially on rendering human characters. Remember the first Toy Story? Humans were abominations of plastic back then D:

I was going to write a long rantish post here but decided to say "fuck it" and ask it straight:

How open are you about your drawing hobbies? Say, you're starting to get to know someone, how can you explain you draw adult material from time to time without coming across as a pervert?

Because I'm bored at work and already sketched out some things, I felt like ranting again.

At some point, I just have to stop it... watching things, reading things I frankly do not like, but keep doing it out of habit.

Watching Family Guy:
I don't know why I kept watching Family Guy, honestly. I don't feel like looking up names right now, but frankly, the last episode I watched was where Bonnie and Lois went to France.
I never liked the Chicken fights, I never liked those weird Conway Twitty (forgive me for wrong name spelling) intersections... but the aforementioned episode had the balls to spend 3 minutes to show "the gayest music video ever". Not a segment, no, the full 3 minutes of David Bowie and Mick Jagger doing their collaboration song. That's effectively 10% of an episode that didn't require ANY creative input from the writing staff, at all.
So yeah, early Family Guy had some gems with their non-sequitors, but now I dropped it aside, just like I did with the Simpsons years ago. And yes, I know FG is basically a giant ripoff from the Simpsons to begin with. All of Seths other shows are pretty much the same, and why the fuck do you want to revive the Flintstones? WHY SETH! WHY!

Webcomics... Looking for Group
I already quit Sohmer's "Least I Could Do" series because of... well, I know it's a day-to-day gag strip, and I won't go throwing around the self-insert card here. But when the main character is such a giant man-child who has everything going well for him (high-paid job, screwing women by the dozen, and still have the time to be a total child when not making fun of everything he dislikes), I really can't like the character at all. Everything around him is there for his amusement.
Giving the main character his points of self-reflection/compassion/brilliance doesn't change the fact he's a total ass in my eyes.
Anyway, Looking for Group... Started out the same as a gag-per-strip, but quickly abandoned that for an attempt at epic. But you know what?
Doing nothing but day-to-day gag strips since LICD, the writing has NO FUCKING SENSE OF PACE! Events come and go as soon as they're introduced, dialogue is hack-and-eyed and stilted in the same way a Miller dialogue is written (short, trying to have something epic in it).
And then there's Richard. I'll probably catch some punches for this one, and while I do like Richard to some extend... I can't help but feel like he and LICD's Rayne are the same person. Constantly there to make fun of the situation, do something horrifying, but ultimately be doing GOOD things because that makes them OH SO CHARMING AND MISUNDERSTOOD!


I could rant about other things, but now it's time to go home :p

Now to use the time I'd save with that productively.

My PC is almost back in shape, just want to find a way to get WoW properly installed on the second HDD now (it's still installed and runs fine from before the OS disk crash, but there are no Start menu folders or a proper uninstaller present).

I should get into drawing again once all my programs are installed properly again, so I'm gonna post myself a list here. I didn't end up drawing these things due to the random crashes that occurred during my week off from work and onwards, I didn't want to end up losing a lot of work. Yes I could hit Ctrl+S every 5 minutes, but in the odd chance the PC would crash DURING the save, I'd end up with a corrupted file :(

- 2 remaining winners for the 4K watcher contest. I've kept them waiting way too long and I apoligize for that. Being so unreliable about promised art is the reason why I'm still not taking commissions.

- LoL drawings, particulary Wukong. I just love him. Now if they'd fix his skills to scale properly I'll be REALLY happy.

- finish the WIP of my female undead drawing. Already finished the lineart and laid down some flat colors, so it shouldn't be taking too long anymore.

My co-worker is awesome. He's been busy with electronics for years (model airplanes and all that) and managed to find the issue: short circuit because of water ingress inside the cable, likely caused by a previous accident I had with this charger a year ago. Some of the plastic degraded because of it and caused the two wires to connect.
Took it home tonight to put the cables together and fix them up with heatshrink, so by tomorrow I should have a fully functional charger again.

Seeing how the previous journal handled the fact I had an SSD breaking down after 2 months of usage, I thought I could still be connected for a while because of my old iBook G4 laptop. But no, last night the power cable decided to fry (quite literally, there were sparks and smoke coming out of the place where the short circuit occurred.)
So now I have a perfectly good iBook G4 I won't be able to use anymore because I can't find a replacement for that power cable. Well, there are some in the US, but those are useless here in Belgium due to differences in output.

And no, I don't feel like buying a different laptop or anything alike altogether since I'm mostly using it as a backup communication tool / reading tool these days.

Nerd tantrum powers, GOOOOO!

So for a couple weeks now, my system would randomly shut down and only show signs of life after a cold reboot. But this morning the system shut down after 15 minutes, and decided not to wake up again.
Turns out my SSD maindrive died out on me at random, no longer being detected by the BIOS system on several PC's. Now, doing a quick search on Google showed that many others who purchased the OCR Vertex 2 SSD had cases where the drive would break down at random.
So for the next week, I'll be stuck on my iBook G4 laptop again while my PC is over at the guy who ordered me a new SSD.
At least my files and programs were installed on the 2TB HDD, so I'm not going to lose anything crucial.

Goddamn you, technology, one day I -WILL- end up getting a Mac -_-

Scrap that "hoping it'll stretch", I'm contacting the shop I ordered it from to see if I can get it replaced. Cutting off blood circulation to my fingers isn't worth it if I only can hope it'll improve over time.

So yeah, I bought and received a smudgeguard glove for my Cintiq since it always turned out so greasy after a while of using it.

Now, I know I have small-ish hands, and the guideline said to measure at the knuckles. So I bought the Small size (up to 77mm width, which is what I have approx), but I can feel the fabric is kinda tight around the fingers and the middle bit doesn't reach to the palm of my hand.. or whatever you call the space between two fingers :p

Here's to hoping the rather stretchy fabric will wear itself out a bit to fit better soon enough :(

I think Grandia 2 was my very first JRPG that I chose to play on the PC years ago. Ofcourse it was ridden with cliché and some annoying characters (why is it that the Church is always the bad guy in JRPGs huh?). I found it damn catchy to listen to, probably the first time I heard a more symphonic rock number too.

I could list the whole goddamn GGX2 soundtrack here, there are so many of them I like. Sure the character roster has a greater belt fetish than Rob Liefeld could ever dream of, but it was probably one of the flashiest fighting games I played at the time, one that still held onto 2D sprites in an age of 3D graphics.
What really got me interested in the game was because of a certain artist who was my idol back in the days I still frequented the Howtodrawmanga forums. Stupidly enough, I forgot his name at this point, because he was really.. REALLY good :(

Alright folks, we're going to do things a little different this time. Instead of tossing out a "thank you" image with one of my characters as thanks for the milestone, I'll turn this into a little contest with 3 free artworks on the line.

What can you win?

To celebrate the characters I've been drawing being watched for 50.000 times, I'll give 3 folks the opportunity to have their characters interacting with one of their own characters. This could range from innocent fun, to sexual encounters.

This image will be fully inked and colored in my usual cell-shading coloring.

But keep the following guidelines in mind for what I will NOT draw:
- M/M : Sorry, I just don't draw male homosexuality. It's probably one of my greatest turnoffs.
