So that means I've been doing well at the new job (posting from work as we speak, kekeke), though there are plenty of moments where I'm stuck doing nothing at all. At least I got this small warehouse workspace all to myself, I'm king here in my domain. :D
Though I'm a tad worried if they'll end up putting me on parttime helpdesk duty or not. I have a bit of a speech impediment, so I don't quite think I'm really fit for that particular work. Giving clear instructions are also problematic to me, since my train of thoughts are a wreck.

Here's to the job. I've been through some shitty work before this, even if only for 3 days in total, I never want to go back to what I had before landing this job. :p Sorting paper is dirty, dirty work and affected my hayfever greatly >_< Never again!



On a sidenote, I wish I had the singing voice of an 80's rock star.

Finally I'm starting a proper job, after some days as replacement interim worker at a paper recycling center... seriously, that place was bad for my health..

Sooo yeah, tomorrow I'll be working for GE, handling orders and shipping for their Veriwise product. I'll get my own little place to work in, which is also nice. ^_^ Though I'll have to get used to this routine again, after 2 years of unemployment.

It's far from artistic, but I know myself well enough to realize a job as a self-employed artist is out of my league.

Now I'll be very clear on this: I don't care one tiny bit for the World Championship in South-Africa right now, nor do I care for the sport in general.

However, some people do, overly so. And if you're a fanatic Dutchman who enjoys having a SHIT load of orange colored gadgets (it's their national color) to support their hometeam, what's the next best thing you could do?

Since I've been getting more and more requests for commissions (or the lack thereof), I think I'm almost about to bite the bullet.

For the Belgian members, this Sunday'll (11-04) be the 2010 edition of Maasland Strip in Maasmechelen, a comicbook faire which I'll be attending along with the rest of my comic author class.

We'll probably be there for the duration of the event, and will be drawing some in the afternoon. Also, rooting for a mention or winning with the comic pages we sent in for their contest. Exposition is always good!

I just received the prize package for the 2009 Holiday Card Contest held by Blizzard Entertainment, but the contents are incomplete when compared to the prizes showcased on the Contest page and official rules.
My package contained:

- 1 signed 2009 Blizzard Holiday Card (Christmas on the first of March? Madness!!!
- 1 Razer DeathAdder Gaming Mouse (finally I have an optical mouse with wired USB, instead of wireless!)
- 1 Razer Lycosa Keyboard (Time to retire my ages old Logitech Elite keyboard, but...)
- 1 Razer Sphex Mouse Pad (No longer need I cover the sloppy paintjob I gave to my desk with a large piece of cardboard!)

I won't make a big deal out of this, since I have a fairly decent headset myself. However, it's still a headset with 80$ retail value, so... yeah, what about it?
I tried mailing the e-mail adress listed on the page, namely blizzardcontest[at]blizzard.com , but I fear it'll fall on deaf ears. :<

Also, I wrote a "but..." at the keyboard, though one should also suffice after the mouse. Two personal problems arise, namely:
- I've always been using my left hand as the mouse hand, yet the Razer mouse is designed specifically for right-handed use.
- The Belgian standard for keyboards is AZERTY, yet the keyboard I received is a QWERTY, since it's send from ... Idunno! *checks shipping note* ...France? That's not right, France also uses AZERTY. Yet, with Belgium and France being the exception, I guess distributing QWERTY would be more logical since there are more EU countries using QWERTY.

Still, I'm actually going to have to re-decorate my furniture to suit the new setup I'll have to adapt to. Ahhh, such is the price of "pro gaming gear" ;_;

Granted, this is probably old news to some, but heck it's new to me!

This is pretty much the largest kick in the balls for me right now, but yesterday evening my HDD crashed, no warning, nothing. Followed by a constant disk read error and failed boot-ups, I brought it in at the store I bought it from.

Sadly, the HDD was beyond saving, they were unable to retrieve any kind of backup.

Now I did lose EVERYTHING... all programs and files, but luckily I had a fairly recent backup of my images etc stored on my external disk.
In total, I "only" lost 4 original PSD/Sai files, 2 of which were colored. I can live with the fact I can only regain their posted JPEG files I posted here, so... that's good.

But until my PC returns, I'll only be able to use this shit old Apple iBook :<

Remind me to make a real, proper backup next time around.

So the holidays are over, I've been working, meaning I've got some cash to blow.
And I've been curious enough about it, so I've been looking at the Wacom Cintiq12WX drawing tablet again, since my Intuos3 is starting to wear down a bit. But I want to ask people who've experience with it already: is it worth it? The pricetag's a tad high, ruling out the 21UX version (I'm no pro, do I really, REALLY need something A3 sized? I know I have a friend who thinks big like that, but .. I'm not her.) entirely.

Is the 12WX still any decent to work with? I've gotten more interested in it, seeing how much of my inking on tablet is trial and error line drawing :o

Seriously though, being an interim trainee mailman for almost 2 weeks now, winter kicked in and loaded our little country with snow (yay?). Unfortunately it rendered virtually all sidewalks useless because of snow and slipperyness, after which the boss announced we only had to deliver priority mail and the ones that need autographs.
Sensible, it's pretty much their "emergency plan". Yet this left me with a double workload for today, since I couldn't deliver much yesterday because of the snow. Today the roads were messy, but still largely accesible. But yes, 2 days worth of freaking Christmas cards and magazine specials (extra thick, yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah).

From 5 in the morning, until 5 in the evening I've been working, spending a whopping 6 hours sorting all the mail, and another six to deliver it all. Luckily I got help (boss asked for reinforcements) doing it all, but it's still a massive load. I had to stop handing out commercial flyers near the end, because it was getting dark. And these post bikes aren't equipped with a light... :<

WTB a hot bath and a backrub.

So, on Wednesday, I started working as a mailman. Getting up at 5, working until 2-ish in the afternoon.. The free afternoon is nice, though I spend quite some time of it resting.
