Well, *THAT* sucked...
Posted 15 years agoSo. Managed to work out how we were getting to FurFright. Problem is, we still didn't officially have a room. Thus, at 2 am Saturday morning, after not having slept for the two days previous, amidst incredible stress and very, very sore feet, Sugar and I found ourselves heading back home to boring old Clinton, care of the marvelous Ilobmirt.
So many apologies to so many people, specifically Triard, J4mieee, Rex, Jay, Patches, Kaia, Gadjet and Sour, and anyone else we inconvenienced or bailed on.
What we were able to attend of the con was lovely, and it was nice to see alot of you guys again, not to mention meet new folks. Hopefully next year we'll have a bit more going for planning.
Sorry again, folks,
Damion

FurFright Crisis
Posted 15 years agoSo. Was all set up to ship out to FurFright friday, fought for and got days off from my work (no mean feat since ALL VACATION TIME FROM OCTOBER TO JANUARY 8TH IS BLACKED OUT) and found out last night that my ride, most unfortunately and beyond his ability to control, has stuff to attend to. And the stay-location is a no-go. And we have no backup options. Still frantically searching, but outlook is grim :\
I have been looking forward to this all year. I'm not letting this go.
Cheers,
Damion

A Sporadic Sort of Fellow
Posted 16 years agoMy creativity ebbs and flows. At it's apex it's hardly enough to get anything real done.
And that's fine. I've learned to live with it.
The same is true of my philosophical self; it comes and goes, swells and... un-swells. Generally my musings or thoughts or what have you can be of any nature. This time around, as is frequently so, the flavor of the day is magic and the metaphysical world.
So I find a book and I scribble my thoughts while they last (and while doing so keeps my interest). I've made concerted attempts to organize and keep said scribblings in the past, but have in the past week come to the conclusion that, hey - I like my thoughts scattered through the various notebooks and sketchbooks and loose papers and whatever else.
One of the only recurring magical influences in my beliefs is the presence of chaos magic, a school which encourages the dissociation of conscious, deliberate thought from magical working. The idea is basically that focusing on the accomplishment of a magical task ties it up in the world of the material and immovable instead of letting it work it's way into the maleable fabric of the aether - what reality is while it's still potential and before it's actuality. Instead, let it slip down past the mind that handles all those tasks you never need to think to do; past a notion of reality, of physical limitation, of what is and what isn't.
Down into the umbra of dream-thought.
To this effect, it occurs to me that my thought-scribblings being scattered as they are is an appropriate thing. It's true that as I've done this over the years I find discussing my "beliefs" to have become less akin to recounting information from my mental database and more putting words to an intricate and subtle range of almost emotions that define my perception of the world - both seen and un.
If you've read to this point, thanks for your patience. This is all largely unimportant stuff; I just felt like writing it here. An interesting thing to share with you folks - even if it's nothing you care about :p
Cheers,
Damion~!
